Our Love, A Public Service - Chapter 57
Chapter 57
Jing Rui had thought about throwing away this guitar more than once, just like she had thought about deleting that picture of Chi Jia from her phone, but she had hesitated, unable to let go.
Chi Jia said she hated her, and Jing Rui also hated Miss Chi. If it weren't for Chi Jia, her life would be so much easier and carefree…
But perhaps, their mutual animosity stemmed from their love for each other.
She ran off with someone else…
Four months later, Chi Jia finally understood Jing Rui's sadness and disappointment. That Christmas Eve, they had parted ways so decisively, after a night of passion, going their separate ways the next day.
As if nothing had happened.
And then, Jing Rui had her flings, Chi Jia had her suitors, seemingly having moved on… But their hearts remained connected.
Jing Rui was too good at pretending, so good that Chi Jia didn't realize how much she loved her, didn't know that her rejection had hurt Jing Rui so deeply.
That "she rejected me" tugged at Chi Jia's heartstrings. Remembering Jing Rui's reaction that day when she introduced Qin Dong as her boyfriend, Chi Jia finally understood what it meant.
If Jing Rui had brought another woman to her and introduced her as her new girlfriend with a smile, it would have been devastating.
It was all in the past now, Jing Rui's smile seemingly carefree, but looking at that smile, Chi Jia's heart ached. She now understood what Jing Rui meant by "let's stop torturing each other"...
So it wasn't just her who had been thinking about Jing Rui, Jing Rui had also been thinking about her.
"Because of you..." Chi Jia blurted out.
"What?"
"I broke up with him because of you." Chi Jia had been stubborn when Jing Rui asked her about the breakup before. She looked at the guitar, then at Jing Rui, finally confessing, "Because of you, I can't like anyone else."
Even though Jing Rui knew, she still wanted to hear Chi Jia say it out loud. She stepped forward and embraced Chi Jia, her arms around her waist. "Then don't run off with anyone else…"
After all the back and forth, they were finally together, a testament to their feelings. Chi Jia didn't push Jing Rui away this time, a smile playing on her lips. "You've stolen my heart, where else can I go?"
Even when she was with Qin Dong, her heart had belonged to Jing Rui, and now, after a detour, she had finally returned.
Jing Rui sighed. "Finally, something nice to hear."
Chi Jia smiled, a smile of contentment and happiness.
"Sing me a song."
"Then… act cute for me, and I'll sing." Chi Jia wanted to see the usually aloof and domineering vixen act cute and coquettish.
Jing Rui quickly got into character. "Babe, I want to hear you sing, pretty please~"
A complete transformation.
Chi Jia burst out laughing, her body shaking with laughter, tears welling up in her eyes. "Jing Rui, is that you being cute or… seductive? Hahahahaha~"
Jing Rui pinched Chi Jia's ear, her voice serious. "Laugh again, and no sex tonight."
Chi Jia paused for a second, then continued laughing.
Jing Rui: "..."
"I didn't say I was sleeping here tonight." Chi Jia's stubbornness resurfaced.
Jing Rui looked at Chi Jia, exasperated.
Chi Jia knew she had said the wrong thing again. She picked up the guitar, sat down, and strummed a few chords, trying to change the subject. "What do you want to hear?"
Jing Rui thought for a moment. "Something cheesy, the kind of love song that gives you goosebumps."
"..." Chi Jia was taken aback. What kind of description was that?
Chi Jia usually seemed carefree, always smiling and talking. When Jing Rui first met her, she thought Chi Jia was rather boisterous, but after hearing her sing at the bar for the first time, her opinion gradually changed.
Chi Jia singing on stage, Jing Rui listening below, that was their dynamic for a long time.
It wasn't love back then, but Jing Rui had been inexplicably drawn to Chi Jia's every expression and gesture as she sang.
Their mutual torment had been worth it, Jing Rui thought, smiling at Chi Jia, who was now singing just for her.
If they had gotten together from the beginning, Jing Rui thought, perhaps without truly understanding Chi Jia, she would have lost her. She hadn't known how to cherish someone before.
Singing a love song for your loved one was a beautiful thing, every lyric imbued with a deeper meaning. That was why so many people chose to confess their feelings through songs.
"You're slightly more romantic when you sing." Jing Rui said seriously.
Chi Jia continued strumming the guitar, feeling pleased with herself. "How am I not romantic?"
"I was jealous today, and you didn't even try to appease me." Jing Rui admitted she was angry.
Chi Jia stopped playing, her cheerful expression fading. Remembering the incident after work, she said, "You're being petty, he was just saying ."
"Chi Jia, are you trying to make me angry?" Jing Rui was annoyed. Not only did Chi Jia not try to appease her, she even accused her of being petty?
Chi Jia, with her sharp tongue, knew exactly what Jing Rui meant, the key word being "appease."
Knowing when to stop, Chi Jia quickly took Jing Rui's hand and said with a smile, "Don't be mad, I'll sing for you."
"No, thanks, I don't want to listen anymore." Jing Rui turned away, giving Chi Jia the cold shoulder. She had to teach her a lesson today.
Was she really upset? Chi Jia put down the guitar, stood up, and hugged Jing Rui from behind. She hadn't been proactive enough with Jing Rui before, and being able to hold her like this felt incredibly comforting.
Chi Jia clung to Jing Rui, refusing to let go, her voice soft and gentle. "If you don't want to listen to me sing, I can teach you how to play the guitar."
A faint smile flickered across Jing Rui's lips, but she still turned to Chi Jia, her voice cold. "Let go."
Women were masters of saying one thing and meaning another. If Chi Jia let go now, there would be no sex tonight. So, as Jing Rui turned around, Chi Jia kissed her.
A soft peck on the lips.
They looked at each other and smiled.
Chi Jia loosened her embrace, then turned and hugged Jing Rui from the front, her head slightly lowered as she gently kissed Jing Rui's lips, a soft, sweet kiss.
Jing Rui had said she hoped Chi Jia would be more proactive, and Chi Jia also felt she had been too passive before. But she would have plenty of opportunities to be proactive with the vixen from now on.
Chi Jia smiled, closed her eyes, and kissed Jing Rui again, this time a deep, lingering kiss.
Jing Rui opened her lips, her eyes closing as she enjoyed Miss Chi's rare display of affection.
Neither of them held back, eagerly responding to each other's kisses, their tongues tangling, a sweet, intoxicating feeling.
Chi Jia opened her eyes slightly, her lips still on Jing Rui's, and pulled Jing Rui's hands to her waist. A deep kiss and a tight embrace, perfect.
After a while, Chi Jia pulled away, smiling. "Romantic enough for you?"
"Almost…" Jing Rui said, capturing Chi Jia's lips again, sucking gently before sighing softly. "But I like it."
Kissing was indeed the best way to resolve conflicts. Chi Jia said softly, "I'll teach you how to play the guitar."
"Okay."
The usually quiet study was filled with laughter and chatter that night.
Teaching guitar was just a pretense; Chi Jia, restless, after a few minutes, pushed Jing Rui down onto the sofa, wanting to kiss her again.
Jing Rui smiled. "Weren't you going to teach me?"
"You're too slow, you'll never learn." After all the kissing and cuddling, Chi Jia couldn't focus on teaching.
Jing Rui, lying beneath Chi Jia, saw through her. "You're thinking about other things, of course you can't teach properly."
"Aren't you thinking about it too?" Chi Jia retorted. Their mutual attraction, their shared desire, there was no need to pretend.
"It's getting late, I'm going to take a shower." Jing Rui pushed Chi Jia away and stood up.
Her suggestive words made Chi Jia nod eagerly, about to suggest showering together, when Jing Rui continued…
"I'll drive you home after my shower."
"…Home?" Chi Jia stammered.
"Didn't you say you weren't sleeping here? I'll take you home, then wait for me." Jing Rui said, swaying her hips as she walked towards the bathroom.
Chi Jia was left alone in the study, realizing Jing Rui could be quite difficult, remembering every little joke and comment.
Ten minutes later, Jing Rui came out of the bathroom.
Seeing Jing Rui's attire, Chi Jia couldn't help but smile, thinking, even if she wanted to leave tonight, the vixen wouldn't let her.
Saying she would drive her home, yet coming out in a sexy nightgown, who would believe that…?
"You're wearing that to drive me home?" Chi Jia raised an eyebrow, looking at Jing Rui's revealing nightgown.
Jing Rui walked over to Chi Jia, swaying her hips. "I also think it's not very appropriate, so you can take a cab yourself."
"You're doing this on purpose." Chi Jia couldn't help but stare at Jing Rui's alluring figure, finding it hard to resist.
"Doing what on purpose?" Jing Rui asked, a seductive smile playing on her lips.
"Seducing me."
"You thinking I'm seducing you, and me actually seducing you, are two different things." Jing Rui repeated this line, but this time, she was definitely doing it on purpose, enjoying Chi Jia's flustered reaction.
Chi Jia: "..."
All it took was a small step from either of them, and sparks would fly. After all, they hadn't touched each other in a while, their desire simmering beneath the surface, ready to ignite.
"Then I'll be going." Chi Jia continued pretending, certain that Jing Rui wouldn't let her leave, not dressed like this. Before leaving, she couldn't resist adding, "Dress warmly, don't catch a cold."
Jing Rui was utterly defeated by Chi Jia.
Chi Jia picked up her bag and prepared to leave, counting "1, 2, 3…" in her mind.
As expected, within three seconds, Jing Rui grabbed her hand. Chi Jia smiled mischievously, turning around to see Jing Rui holding her hand tightly, refusing to let go.
The next moment, Chi Jia dropped her bag and embraced Jing Rui, and as she leaned in to kiss her, Jing Rui's lips met hers.
A perfect, unspoken understanding.
Having suppressed their desires for so long, they finally erupted.
As they kissed, Jing Rui took off Chi Jia's coat and pushed her down onto the sofa.
Looking at the woman on top of her, Chi Jia's heart pounded in her chest.
Jing Rui caressed Chi Jia's face, gently biting her lower lip. "Still so stubborn, I'm going to make you beg for mercy tonight."
