Our Love, A Public Service - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Chi Jia wrapped her arms around Jing Rui. "You're the promiscuous one."
They looked at each other and smiled.
Bickering and flirting, their unique way of expressing affection.
Jing Rui's hand gently caressed Chi Jia's slender waist through her thin clothing, a seductive touch, their eyes meeting, the air between them charged with desire.
Looking at each other, so close, Chi Jia's thoughts wandered to inappropriate places, but she held back, admiring Jing Rui's ability to still be so seductive even when sick, wondering where she got the energy.
"Why did you suddenly come over tonight?"
"I was… worried about you." Chi Jia mumbled the last two words, her voice trailing off.
"You didn't even tell me." Jing Rui's voice was hoarse from her cold, sounding even more alluring. "Next time, you have to tell me first."
Chi Jia, incredibly sensitive, pouted and asked, "Why, feeling guilty? Afraid I'd catch you red-handed?"
Although tonight was a misunderstanding, Chi Jia still couldn't accept another woman, dressed so provocatively, being at her girlfriend's place. Plus, Jing Rui had a history of "cheating" in her dreams.
Her concern was met with annoyance. Jing Rui's voice rose slightly. "You came here alone so late at night, you think I wasn't worried?"
Chi Jia was speechless, then muttered, "What's there to be worried about?"
Actually, she knew why she hadn't told Jing Rui beforehand; she didn't want Jing Rui to worry and drive over to pick her up while sick.
They were always like this, their concern for each other often disguised as arguments.
"Is it wrong to worry about my wife?"
Chi Jia's heart skipped a beat, a smile playing on her lips. The vixen calling her "wife" sounded so sweet. Perhaps because she had met her mother, their relationship, which Chi Jia had once considered hopeless, now seemed to have a future.
"I know, I'll tell you next time."
Jing Rui rewarded Chi Jia with a kiss on the forehead. "That's more like it."
"Where do you feel unwell?" Chi Jia's voice softened as she looked at Jing Rui's pale face.
Chi Jia also felt bad, seeing Jing Rui sick and having been… active with her despite her condition. Although she didn't say it, she was worried about Jing Rui.
"I was almost recovered, but now you've made me dizzy. Rub my head for me." Jing Rui leaned against Chi Jia, her voice soft and weak, a vulnerability she only showed to Chi Jia.
"Okay." Chi Jia smiled, wrapping her arms around Jing Rui, unable to resist her coquettishness.
11:30 PM.
Chi Jia looked down at Jing Rui's feet, remembering how she had rushed out after her without even changing her clothes or shoes, in the cold night wind, dressed so lightly.
Her heart was filled with warmth and affection.
After so many relationships, it was the person she trusted the least who cared about her the most.
"Wait for me here." Chi Jia released Jing Rui.
"Hmm?" Jing Rui watched Chi Jia walk towards the bathroom, thinking she was going to take a shower, but she returned shortly after with a basin of hot water.
Chi Jia pulled Jing Rui to the edge of the bed, sat down, and gently took Jing Rui's feet, placing them in the water. "A foot bath will make you feel better."
Chi Jia wasn't good at taking care of people, so her movements were a bit clumsy.
Jing Rui looked down at Chi Jia, her earnest expression, and felt a warmth spread through her body and heart.
Chi Jia carefully tested the water temperature before gently placing Jing Rui's feet in the basin. Her feet were beautiful, slender and fair, even her ankles more elegant than most.
"Is it too hot?" Chi Jia looked up and saw Jing Rui staring at her intently.
"It's perfect." Jing Rui's gaze didn't leave Chi Jia's face, her heart filled with warmth and sweetness.
Sometimes, the most ordinary gestures were the most romantic.
After a few minutes, Jing Rui's feet were warm.
"I can do it myself."
"No, I'll do it." Chi Jia ignored her, carefully drying Jing Rui's feet with a towel. She hadn't known she had this gentle and caring side, but for Jing Rui, she was willing to do anything.
Chi Jia placed Jing Rui's feet on the bed. "Go to sleep, I'll take a shower."
Jing Rui wrapped her arms around Chi Jia's neck, preventing her from leaving, her eyes seductive.
"Let go of me." Chi Jia's heart was racing.
"I didn't expect…" Jing Rui didn't let go, if she weren't sick, she would have already pushed Chi Jia down on the bed and kissed her senseless.
"Didn't expect what?"
"You to be so good at taking care of your wife."
Always calling her "wife," so shameless. Chi Jia grinned, feeling smug, wrapping her arms around Jing Rui's waist, her voice sweet and playful. "You're incredibly lucky to have me."
"Yes, yes, you're absolutely right…" Jing Rui smiled, then couldn't resist kissing Chi Jia's cheek, her lips lingering, then trailing to the corner of her mouth, a soft, feather-light touch.
It made Chi Jia's heart flutter.
The atmosphere turned sweet and intimate.
Inhaling Jing Rui's fragrance, tempted by her soft lips, Chi Jia closed her eyes, turning her head, unable to resist the urge to kiss her.
Jing Rui turned her head away just in time. "Go take your shower."
Miss Chi, slightly disappointed, leaned in and gave Jing Rui a quick peck on the lips before reluctantly getting up to shower.
Jing Rui sat on the bed, watching Chi Jia's retreating figure, a smile playing on her lips.
Chi Jia rummaged through the closet for her pajamas, noticing she had left quite a few clothes at Jing Rui's place. Their lives were gradually merging.
Every day after work, Chi Jia would wonder if she should go to Jing Rui's place, or if Jing Rui would come to hers.
She loved sleeping in Jing Rui's arms; sleeping alone felt empty now. But with Chi Jia's personality, she would never be the one to suggest moving in together.
In the shower, Chi Jia lathered herself with shower gel, her mind wandering, thinking about tonight's events. Jing Rui had already come out, so her family wouldn't be a problem, but what about her own mother? Chi Jia didn't think her mother would be happy to hear that she was dating a woman…
After a while, Chi Jia finished showering and stepped out of the bathroom.
Jing Rui was lying on her side in bed, her eyes closed, having drifted off to sleep. Seeing her peaceful expression, Chi Jia's anxieties eased. She was happy right now, so happy that she could temporarily forget about the future.
Chi Jia pulled back the covers and quietly slipped into bed beside Jing Rui, her gaze fixed on Jing Rui's face. Being with her was a source of joy, but because they were both women, this joy was always accompanied by a sense of unease, a fear of losing her.
The warm, yellow light fell on Jing Rui's face, softening her features as she slept. Chi Jia, gazing at her, couldn't resist leaning in and kissing her softly on the lips, then again, and again.
Perhaps because it was so hard-won, Chi Jia had never cherished a relationship like this before.
Jing Rui's eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Caught red-handed.
"You… weren't asleep?" Chi Jia pulled back slightly, pretending nothing happened.
Jing Rui smiled lazily. "I was waiting for you."
"Is your head still hurting?"
"It's much better." Jing Rui turned slightly, took a set of keys from the nightstand, and handed them to Chi Jia. "Here, take this."
"For me?" Chi Jia asked, surprised.
"Yes," Jing Rui pinched Chi Jia's nose playfully, using Chi Jia's own words against her, "so you can come and check on me anytime, no need to worry about me hiding other women at my place."
Chi Jia took the keys, then asked, "But what if you're hiding other women outside?"
Jing Rui smiled wryly, sighing. "You alone are enough to handle, I don't have the energy for anyone else. Stop overthinking."
"Me? If I had another woman at my place in the middle of the night, wearing my nightgown, wouldn't you be angry?" Chi Jia, going back to the same topic, continued, "And she even touched your face!"
"What do I have to do to appease you?"
"I…" Chi Jia didn't know, she just felt frustrated. She suddenly climbed on top of Jing Rui and kissed her forcefully.
"Don't be like this," Jing Rui held Chi Jia's shoulders, trying to stop her, "I have a cold…"
Chi Jia ignored her, pinning Jing Rui's hands down on the pillow and continuing to kiss her.
Her possessiveness demanding an outlet. Chi Jia's mind raced with the rumors and gossip she had heard, and the more she thought about it, the more fiercely she kissed Jing Rui, wanting to feel her love, her reassurance.
"Mmm…" Jing Rui's half-hearted resistance crumbled under Chi Jia's passionate assault, and she closed her eyes, surrendering to the kiss.
Feeling Jing Rui's response, Chi Jia released her wrists, her lips still on Jing Rui's as she wrapped her arms around her.
They embraced, their lips locked in a passionate kiss, lost in the moment.
This time, it was Jing Rui who was breathless, her eyes half-closed, a soft smile playing on her lips as she looked at Chi Jia's flushed face.
But Chi Jia's expression was serious.
"I really thought you were with another woman." Chi Jia bit her lip, her voice filled with a childish grievance. She buried her face in Jing Rui's chest, confessing, "You don't know how upset I was..."
Jing Rui knew, seeing Chi Jia's red eyes.
"It's my fault for not telling you beforehand." Jing Rui gently stroked Chi Jia's back. "It won't happen again, forgive me this time, okay?"
Hearing Jing Rui's almost subservient tone, Chi Jia felt a sense of satisfaction. She kissed Jing Rui's cheek softly, still feeling guilty about the slap.
Perhaps she had gotten used to slapping her ex-boyfriends; that slap had been almost instinctive.
It hadn't been a hard slap. Jing Rui cupped Chi Jia's face in her hands, making her look at her, then said half-jokingly, "My face doesn't hurt, but my heart does."
Chi Jia didn't reply, hugging Jing Rui tighter, unable to express her feelings with words, but her embrace spoke volumes.
"Trust me, okay?" Jing Rui's voice held a hint of vulnerability; their relationship needed time and trust.
Chi Jia nodded softly. It was because she cared so much that she had reacted so strongly. In the past, when faced with such situations, her anger had always outweighed her sadness, but tonight, she had felt mostly pain.
After a quiet embrace, Jing Rui said, "Stay here with me from tonight onwards."
It was exactly what Chi Jia had been hoping for, but Miss Chi felt she had to maintain some semblance of propriety, feigning reluctance. "Isn't that a bit too fast…?"
After all their passionate nights together, she was still being coy.
Jing Rui saw through her pretense. She leaned in, kissing Chi Jia's earlobe, and whispered, "I've already given you the key, whether you want to come or not is up to you."
"If we live together…" Chi Jia turned to Jing Rui.
Jing Rui thought Chi Jia was about to say something serious, but…
"Won't we be… overindulging…?"
