If It’s Wrong, Then It’s Wrong - Chapter 85
Chapter 85: The Thirty-First Day
Inside the car, the atmosphere grew heavy with unspoken intimacy. Ji Chaozhou, one hand on the car seat, the other gently cupping Cheng Liu’s face, leaned down and kissed her, the scent of alcohol slowly clinging to him.
He had learned to kiss from her.
During their first kiss, he had only registered her boldness, not her inexperience.
Even though Cheng Liu had said she had never kissed Wang Hongyang, Ji Chaozhou couldn't suppress his jealousy.
He was jealous of both her ex-boyfriend, Wang Hongyang, and her assistant, He Bai.
“…Cheng Liu,” Ji Chaozhou whispered, pulling away slightly, a reckless desperation in his beautiful eyes, his voice hoarse, “Do you…want me?”
Cheng Liu, lost in a pleasant dream, jolted back to reality, her answer firm: “No.”
Ji Chaozhou froze. He hadn’t expected her to refuse.
Cheng Liu, lying in the passenger seat, her eyes closed, mumbled, “He would only kiss me. He would never say something like that. This has to be a nightmare.”
Even drunk, CEO Cheng’s logic remained intact. She firmly believed Ji Chaozhou wouldn’t say something like that.
But the beginning of the dream had been nice. She liked it.
Ji Chaozhou: “…”
The intimate atmosphere vanished completely.
Ji Chaozhou, staring at her coldly, decided he would never pick up a drunk person again.
He unbuckled her seatbelt, straightened the seat, got out of the car, went around to the passenger side, opened the door, and pulled her out.
“You’re definitely not Chaozhou,” Cheng Liu said, her eyes opening as she let him lead her towards the villa, certain of her assessment. “My…my beloved wouldn’t be so rough.”
Ji Chaozhou ignored her, pulling her towards Villa Number Six. He had intended to wait for her to sober up, but she fell asleep as soon as she touched the bed.
Worried she might be sick, he stayed, dampening a towel and wiping her face and neck before lying down beside her.
He was about to turn off the light when he noticed her open backpack on the nightstand. She always carried that bag, and it didn’t seem to contain much, just her laptop, which he had seen her use for work several times.
Ji Chaozhou reached out to close the bag, intending to place it on a nearby chair, but before zipping it up, he saw something inside.
It was a leather-bound notebook, with a label on the cover, four large characters: “Romantic Phrase Handbook.”
It was hard to ignore.
He took out the handbook, flipping through it. Cheng Liu had written down various phrases, some familiar. He had heard her use them before.
She had even added notes after some of them: “Ineffective. Chaozhou doesn’t like.”
Each page was dated, starting from early April, each entry meticulously written.
Ji Chaozhou flipped through the entire handbook, then turned to look at the sleeping woman on the bed, a gentle look in his eyes.
He placed the handbook back in the backpack, leaving it as it was, then turned off the light.
…
The next morning, at 6:30 am, Cheng Liu woke up. She looked around the empty bedroom, vaguely remembering getting drunk last night. Those old foxes had kept refilling her glass. She had been thinking about the disaster zone, and she had wanted a drink, so she hadn’t been paying attention.
She looked down at her clothes. Still the same as yesterday. She got up and went to shower.
As the hot water poured down, the memories of last night returned, her face changing colors.
She had rejected him!
Her beloved had finally made a move, and she had rejected him!!!
CEO Cheng, wanting to sew her own mouth shut, hurried out of the shower, her hair still wet, and went next door.
Just the thought of what she had said last night made her cringe.
She had asked him to…bite her!
How could she have said something so inappropriate?
CEO Cheng suspected she had been possessed by a pervert.
But…he had actually agreed. He had even let her touch his waist.
Remembering the feel of his lean, firm waist beneath her fingers, Cheng Liu’s throat tightened.
Ji Chaozhou, emerging from his bedroom, packing his suitcase, saw her standing at the door. He glanced at her, his voice calm: “Something I can help you with?”
He was definitely angry.
Cheng Liu, her voice soft and hesitant: “I was just…checking if you needed help packing.”
Ji Chaozhou picked up the folded dark green robe from the bed, letting it unfurl as he turned to Cheng Liu, his beautiful eyes cold: “Do you think I should take this?”
“…” CEO Cheng blushed, looking down, ashamed. “I’m sorry. I was…out of line last night. It won’t happen again.”
“Out of line?” Ji Chaozhou tossed the robe onto the bed, standing by his suitcase, his voice cold and indifferent, “You didn’t want me to bite you, or…you didn’t want me?”
Cheng Liu looked up, startled: “!”
Hearing such suggestive words from him, in that cold, indifferent tone, was strange.
“I…I won’t drink again,” Cheng Liu said, her head lowered, continuing her sincere apology and self-reflection.
Ji Chaozhou, looking at her, his ears burning, he hadn’t been angry, just surprised she had remembered. He maintained his indifferent façade. She didn't like drinking. He knew that.
Both times she had gotten drunk, once when Shenyin Technology had almost faced a crisis, the other after returning from Z Province.
She usually avoided alcohol completely.
Ji Chaozhou closed his suitcase, pulling it out, then turned to Cheng Liu: “If you’re coming to the airport, dry your hair first.”
“Okay,” Cheng Liu said, stepping aside to let him pass, her eyes lingering on the dark green silk robe. She asked softly, “Aren’t you…taking it with you?”
Ji Chaozhou stopped at the door, meeting her gaze, then, leaning closer to her ear, whispered, “Senior, does your assistant know you treat your junior like this?”
Cheng Liu, watching him pull his suitcase into the living room, realized he was accusing her of being inappropriate. She hurried after him: “I only act like this with you.”
Ji Chaozhou brought his suitcase into the living room, turned, washed his hands, then, taking a hairdryer, gestured for her to come over.
Cheng Liu, sensing his mood had improved, happily sat on the sofa, even lying down, her head on his lap, as he dried her hair.
His touch was gentle, and she almost fell asleep.
“Chaozhou,” Cheng Liu said suddenly, her voice serious.
Ji Chaozhou looked down, meeting her eyes. She smiled: “Just calling your name.”
CEO Cheng was happy. Although she had missed an opportunity last night, she had gotten a kiss. It wasn't a loss.
Besides, they hadn't officially defined their relationship yet. There was still time.
…
Wang Hongyang, exhausted after a day of work, collapsed onto his bed as soon as he got home.
After a while, he picked up his phone, messaging Client #7, wanting to continue their conversation, but the client didn’t reply.
Wang Hongyang assumed he had lost the client, feeling a pang of regret. One hundred thousand yuan, transferred directly to his bank account. Rich people were so capricious.
He had no work the next day, so he stayed up late playing games. He had just fallen asleep when his phone started buzzing.
He groggily picked it up. It was a message from Client #7.
Client #7: [I was working last night. Didn’t check QQ.]
He Bai had indeed been working, but he hadn’t simply not checked his QQ account. He hadn’t looked at his other phone.
He had been discreet about contacting the guru, using a new phone and a new QQ account.
Wang Hongyang, rubbing his eyes, trying to wake up: [Okay, please continue.]
Client #7: [Her ex-boyfriend, besides being somewhat good-looking, had no redeeming qualities. I didn't care back then. But now, this guy…his family, his looks, everything is just as good as mine. And she likes him. If they’re on a date, even calling her about work won’t work.]
Wang Hongyang, trying to focus: [So, her ex-boyfriend was just a fling?]
Client #7: [I told you before, she mistook someone else for him. She didn’t even realize it. And she didn’t like her ex-boyfriend anyway.]
Guru: [I see. It seems she’s truly found her soulmate. Your situation…is quite difficult.]
Client #7: [How much do you charge?]
Since the guru’s earlier insights had proven correct, He Bai was starting to believe he might actually be capable.
Guru: [It’s not about the money. Does the person you like have a habit of…getting bored easily?]
He Bai paused, then replied: [She likes…conquering new projects.]
Wang Hongyang, after a moment’s thought: [Based on my observations, workaholics who enjoy conquering new challenges tend to be thrill-seekers, easily bored. So, just wait. She might get tired of him and turn to you.]
Client #7: [Really?]
Guru: [Trust me. I’m never wrong!]
He Bai was skeptical, but the guru’s words gave him hope, a reason to keep trying.
Client #7: [When they're together, there’s no room for anyone else.]
Client #7: [If she didn’t like anyone, I wouldn't mind staying by her side. I’m just…unwilling to give up.]
Wang Hongyang, yawning, surprised by the client’s devotion. He just wanted money.
Guru: [Have you ever considered confessing?]
Client #7: [I know she doesn't like me. She never even looks at me. If I confess, she might fire me.]
Wang Hongyang, reading the message, his eyes focusing on the last word.
Chief assistant?
He knew a chief assistant. What was Cheng Liu’s chief assistant’s name again?
Wang Hongyang suddenly felt a jolt of awareness, scrolling up through their chat history. Something wasn’t right. It all seemed…strangely familiar.
He and Cheng Liu’s dates had always been interrupted by her chief assistant’s calls about work.
Wang Hongyang, trying to remain calm, sent a message: [By the way, how did the person you like mistake someone else for her boyfriend? Are they brothers? Or do they just look alike?]
Client #7: [Their profiles look similar.]
Wang Hongyang: “…” This was getting stranger and stranger.
Guru: [Then wouldn’t she have realized when she saw his face? How did they date for six months?]
Client #7: [We were discussing business. She only saw his profile. When she went over, he had already left, only his ex-boyfriend, who looked like him, was there.]
Guru: [On the cruise ship?]
Client #7: [How did you know?]
He Bai was suddenly wary.
Guru: [To be honest, I’m a Taoist priest. I can tell fortunes. Based on what you’ve told me, I’ve calculated your future, but I need something else.]
He Bai frowned. He had heard of fortune tellers, some reportedly quite effective. He wasn't sure whether to believe it or not.
Client #7: [What do you need?]
Guru: [Do you have any evidence from the cruise ship? This is all based on your assumptions. What if she actually liked her ex-boyfriend, and then transferred her affections? Inaccurate information will lead to inaccurate results.]
He Bai, gritting his teeth, sent the blurry photo of Ji Chaozhou’s profile: [This photo. picture.jpg]
Wang Hongyang clicked on the photo, staring at it, then burst out laughing: “You’re screwed!”
Umm I’m getting Deja vu? Was the last section of the chap repeated from yesterday’s update?
ReplyDeleteThanks for informing! I've fixed the issue.
DeleteI would not have expected the ex would grow to be a captain of the ship that we actually liked. He's too funny and this is so refreshing
