Our Love, A Public Service - Chapter 69

Chapter 69

"You can't escape me tonight."

"Can you think about something else for once?" Chi Jia finally had the chance to turn the tables on Jing Rui; who was she to accuse Chi Jia of having a dirty mind, when she herself was so…?

"This is a normal physiological need, and needs should be met." Jing Rui said matter-of-factly, caressing Chi Jia's face, her tone playful. "Sex is also a form of communication, there's nothing to be ashamed of."

Always so shameless.

Chi Jia was truly at a loss with Jing Rui. "You always have a justification for everything."

Jing Rui kissed Chi Jia's slightly pouting lips, her eyes filled with affection, her voice soft and sweet. "It's because I love you that I always want you."

A few sweet words were all it took to make Chi Jia's heart melt. She agreed with Jing Rui; desire born from mutual love was pure and beautiful.

"Let go of me…" Chi Jia was still sitting on Jing Rui's lap, embraced by her.

But Jing Rui just smiled and kissed her again.

One person's initiative quickly escalated into a passionate exchange, their tongues tangling. Chi Jia's face flushed as she wrapped her arms around Jing Rui's neck, lost in the kiss.

Having suppressed their desires for so long, now that they had a taste, they wouldn't let go so easily…

9 PM.

The streets were brightly lit, bustling with activity.

Amidst the crowd, some walked alone, some in groups, and some, like them, hand in hand.

"This is where you wanted to take me?" Jing Rui, holding Chi Jia's hand tightly, had thought Chi Jia was taking her somewhere special, seeing her secretive behavior.

"Yes, shopping first, then a movie…" Chi Jia said, her voice slightly raised above the noise, a bright smile on her face.

Such ordinary plans.

"That's all you wanted?"

"Yes, and you've never done these things with me!"

Jing Rui thought about it; Chi Jia was right.

Chi Jia had wanted to say this for a while now. Their relationship had been rather "efficient," starting directly from the physical, skipping the usual dating stage. That was why she had wanted Jing Rui to pursue her properly. She felt that their relationship lacked a period of simple, sweet romance.

It was through their passionate nights that they had gradually come together, but passion would eventually fade. Everything was perfect now, during this honeymoon phase, but what about the future?

Chi Jia hoped that what bound them together was the simple joy of holding hands like this, not just the passion in bed.

She wanted to share the little moments of life with Jing Rui, to slowly become… inseparable.

Smiling so radiantly in the night, having done nothing special, Jing Rui seemed to finally understand this simple joy.

"I told you, she would teach you what 'love' is." Jing Rui recalled Ning Qian's teasing words, which now seemed to hold a deeper meaning.

Jing Rui had never slowed down before, to savor such moments. To love someone wasn't just about liking certain aspects of them, but accepting and loving them completely.

"Let's go over there." Chi Jia eagerly pulled Jing Rui's hand; it wasn't easy to get Miss Jing to go shopping with her.

Chi Jia loved being surrounded by people, even more so with her loved one. Holding Jing Rui's hand, they walked into the mall, two beautiful women together, turning heads wherever they went.

"Does this color look good?"

"This year's trending color…"

"No need to try it on here," Jing Rui stopped Chi Jia. "Try it on for me later, at home."

Before Chi Jia could react, Jing Rui told the sales assistant, "We'll take them all."

The words Chi Jia heard the most when shopping with Jing Rui:

"We'll take them all."

"We'll take everything."

"Charge it to my card."

"You don't need to buy so much…" Chi Jia suddenly realized how wealthy her "sugar mommy" was. Miss Chi had dreamt of finding a rich partner before, but it had only been a dream.

For a moment, she felt slightly overwhelmed.

"Is it too much?" Jing Rui asked, unconcerned. She looked at Chi Jia. "As long as you like them."

"But…" Before Chi Jia could say anything, the sales assistant, almost fainting from excitement, exclaimed, "Your friend is so good to you! I'm so jealous!"

Although Chi Jia and Jing Rui were holding hands, it wasn't unusual for two women to be affectionate like this.

"She's not my friend," Chi Jia blurted out, then added with a smile, "She's my girlfriend."

Such a beautiful girlfriend, and they had been keeping their relationship a secret. Miss Chi couldn't contain her excitement any longer.

Jing Rui, overjoyed, said to the sales assistant, her voice filled with pride, "It's only natural to spoil your wife."

Chi Jia felt Jing Rui was always pushing the boundaries, from calling her "girlfriend" to now casually calling her "wife" in public.

"Oh… I see, I knew it! You two look so good together!" The sales assistant, after a moment of surprise, continued with her flattery.

"Finally admitting I'm your girlfriend?"

"What do you mean 'admitting'? You are my girlfriend."

"Look at you, so smug."

They continued shopping.

Looking at all the shopping bags, Chi Jia hesitated, then said, "I said I wanted to go shopping, not for you to… buy me things."

Her words sounded awkward.

"Isn't it natural for me to buy you things? Don't argue with me." Jing Rui retorted, then teased, "If I don't spend my money on you, then who should I spend it on?"

"Don't you dare!" Chi Jia's reaction was explosive; "other women" was her trigger point.

"With a tigress like you at home, how would I dare?"

"Jing Rui! You're calling me a tigress!" The tables had turned in their relationship; Chi Jia was now taking revenge for all of Jing Rui's past teasing when she was her client.

"No, if you're a tigress…" Seeing Chi Jia getting worked up, Jing Rui couldn't help but laugh, pinching her cheek. "You're the most beautiful and adorable tigress, how about that?"

Chi Jia, after a moment of thought, retorted, "…You're still calling me names!"

"Hahaha… stop it, let's go watch a movie."

They put their shopping bags in the car; Jing Rui had brought her driver, as they were both planning to drink that evening.

Excitedly heading to the cinema, they ended up watching a terrible movie, universally panned by the audience, but Chi Jia was still in a good mood, having enjoyed a large bucket of popcorn and a cup of milk tea, although her stomach was now uncomfortably full.

It was already past 11 PM when they left the cinema.

The streets were quieter now.

Chi Jia's stomach was full, so Jing Rui took her for a walk to help with digestion.

The gentle breeze was refreshing, and Chi Jia hummed a tune, a cheerful melody that made Jing Rui smile. Miss Chi had been smiling all night.

Because of Chi Jia, Jing Rui hadn't felt this happy in a long time, even mundane activities like aimlessly strolling down the street felt enjoyable.

"You're this happy just from shopping and watching a movie?" Jing Rui asked, slowing her pace, thinking Miss Chi was easily pleased.

Sometimes, Chi Jia found Jing Rui incredibly romantic, sometimes, not at all, perhaps the vixen's romantic side only emerged in bed.

"It's not about the shopping or the movie..."

"Then what is it about?" Jing Rui asked casually.

"Because…" They stopped under a streetlight, Chi Jia turning to face Jing Rui, the warm, orange light making her smile even more gentle and beautiful.

As Chi Jia gazed at her, Jing Rui felt a surge of affection, a sense of certainty, that this was it.

After a moment of silence, Chi Jia smiled and said calmly, "Because being with you makes me happy."

Her tone was even, her words a simple, honest expression of her true feelings.

Jing Rui looked at Chi Jia, a soft smile on her own face.

On the street, their shadows, elongated by the streetlights, merged together.

A heartwarming scene.

As Jing Rui embraced Chi Jia, Chi Jia instinctively hugged her back, their smiles mirroring each other. Chi Jia rested her chin on Jing Rui's shoulder, closing her eyes, content in the warmth of the embrace.

A love that began with passion, now finding its footing in the mundane.

All the missed opportunities, the regrets, they would slowly make up for them, together.

Jing Rui held Chi Jia for a long time before finally replying, "Then be prepared..."

"Prepared for what?"

"To be this happy every day."

Chi Jia slightly regretted her heartfelt confession; Jing Rui, already prone to narcissism, would now be even more insufferable.

"Babe, move in with me," Jing Rui said, gently stroking Chi Jia's back, her voice serious. "I want to see you every day."

Hearing those words, Chi Jia couldn't help but smile, then after a moment, she looked at Jing Rui, a playful glint in her eyes. "Since you insist, then I'll… indulge you."

"You're so shameless." Jing Rui's smile held a hint of amusement, remembering how Chi Jia had insisted on being picked up just a few days ago.

Seeing Miss Chi's smug expression, knowing she would be back to her stubborn self soon, Jing Rui suddenly captured Chi Jia's lips with a kiss.

"You're the shameless one… Mmm…" Chi Jia pushed Jing Rui's shoulders playfully. "There are people around…"

But her protest only gave Jing Rui an opportunity to deepen the kiss. "Mmm…"

Being with Jing Rui, Chi Jia had lost all sense of shame. She couldn't resist, her arms wrapping around Jing Rui's waist as she kissed her passionately under the streetlight.

Jing Rui's kiss could melt her heart.

The night was getting late.

Jing Rui looked at the time. "Let's go home."

"Okay."

In the car, Chi Jia leaned against Jing Rui's shoulder, looking out the window at the passing city lights.

"Tired from all the shopping?"

Chi Jia shook her head, she just wanted to be close to Jing Rui. Despite her usual independence and stubbornness, she enjoyed acting spoiled and coquettish with her girlfriend, especially since Jing Rui was so good at indulging her.

Jing Rui didn't take Chi Jia to her old apartment, but to the lakeside villa, the one she had commissioned Chi Jia to design last year.

One of the reasons she had bought this villa was that she had given Chi Jia complete creative freedom with the design, so the style naturally reflected Chi Jia's preferences.

Everything seemed to have been destined.

"Why are we here?"

"This is our home from now on." Jing Rui led Chi Jia inside.

Chi Jia was very familiar with the layout of the villa, every detail meticulously designed by her.

But during the design process, she hadn't imagined that this place would one day hold the memories of her and Jing Rui's life together.

"Close your eyes."

"What are you doing?" Chi Jia had a pretty good idea, although she had never been this "cheesy" for a birthday before, she closed her eyes.

On the second floor, in the master bedroom, Chi Jia felt Jing Rui's arms wrap around her from behind. Still with her eyes closed, a smile playing on her lips, she asked, "Ready?"

"Ready."

Chi Jia opened her eyes. The room was beautifully decorated, warm and romantic, filled with her favorite scent, a large window overlooking the lake, the night view breathtaking.

Jing Rui held Chi Jia close, her arms around her waist. "Happy Birthday." It was just past midnight.

Seeing the birthday cake, the gifts, the decorations, everything Jing Rui had prepared for her, Chi Jia was deeply touched. Just a while ago, she had thought Jing Rui wouldn't remember, she was so busy, and Chi Jia hadn't mentioned it, but…

"It's just a birthday," Chi Jia looked at the message on the cake: "To my little vixen," despite her感动, she still couldn't resist teasing Jing Rui, "And 'little vixen' sounds like a mistress..."

Jing Rui was, once again, speechless.

Perhaps realizing she was being too contrary, considering how busy Jing Rui was, and all the effort she had put into this, Chi Jia turned and kissed Jing Rui on the lips. "Thank you, wifey."

"What did you call me?" Jing Rui asked again.

Chi Jia smiled, kissing Jing Rui again. "Wifey."

"Make a wish."

Chi Jia closed her eyes, her hands clasped together, and made a wish in front of the flickering candlelight, a wish more heartfelt than any she had made before, because she truly hoped that their families would understand and accept their love.

She blew out the candles.

"How childish!" Before she knew it, Jing Rui had smeared cake on her face. "And you're taking pictures! Delete them!"

Jing Rui laughed, putting her phone aside, then pulled Chi Jia close, looking at the frosting on her face, and gently lifted her chin, her smile playful and seductive. "Don't move, I'll help you…"

Chi Jia, seeing Jing Rui's smile, knew what was coming, especially since they were alone.

As expected, Jing Rui leaned in, her tongue gently licking the frosting from the corner of Chi Jia's mouth.

A wave of heat washed over Chi Jia, a pleasant embarrassment, and as if reading her mind, Jing Rui smiled and kissed her again, a soft kiss on her cheek.

As Jing Rui's tongue licked the frosting from her cheek, Chi Jia's body tingled, her hands clutching Jing Rui's clothes, a soft moan escaping her lips. "Mmm…"

Chi Jia closed her eyes, letting Jing Rui continue, her heart racing. She was always incredibly sensitive to Jing Rui's touch, even more so now.

The atmosphere in the bedroom was just right.

"Vixen…" Chi Jia whispered, using the familiar nickname.

"I told you, I won't let you off easy tonight…" Jing Rui's husky voice sent shivers down Chi Jia's spine. The frosting was gone, but the kisses continued.

Chi Jia, breathless, eagerly sought Jing Rui's lips, the lingering sweetness of the frosting making the kiss even more intoxicating.

She wanted her.

Chi Jia's kisses grew more passionate, her hands impatiently unbuttoning Jing Rui's shirt…

"Do you know a better way to enjoy cake?" Jing Rui asked, her lips brushing against Chi Jia's. "I'll teach you."
