Our Love, A Public Service - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Chi Jia stared at the box of chocolate bars, a hundred of them. She had thought Jing Rui was joking last night, but she actually delivered a whole box.
And surnamed Jing claimed to be busy. This was such a childish act.
Thanks to Jing Rui, Chi Jia and her colleagues in Design Department Three were practically sick of chocolate bars.
November arrived, bringing with it the first hints of winter.
The end-of-year performance review was approaching, and Miss Chi was full of fighting spirit, her enthusiasm for work not dampened by the dropping temperature. If nothing unexpected happened, the top spot in the designer performance ranking would be hers.
The year-end bonus would definitely be substantial.
Chi Jia was sensitive to cold. Stepping out of the office, she was bundled up in a scarf and mask, only her eyes visible. After work, she ducked into a small restaurant, ordered a bowl of hot wonton soup, and took a satisfying sip. It was bland. She wasn’t picky with food, but after eating Jing Rui’s cooking, her taste buds had become more discerning. Despite the vixen’s delicate appearance, her cooking was surprisingly delicious.
Thinking of Jing Rui…
Should she go to her place tomorrow? Chi Jia stirred the wontons in her bowl, lost in thought. Neither of them had mentioned their last encounter since that night, as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
But honestly, Chi Jia couldn’t quite shake it off, although she had repeatedly told herself it wasn’t worth dwelling on. Having physical needs and finding someone to mutually satisfy them, in this day and age, wasn’t a big deal, right?
Her mind was in turmoil.
"Ouch…" The freshly cooked wontons were still steaming hot, and Chi Jia, not paying attention, almost burned her mouth.
Ding! A text message notification.
Chi Jia took a sip of warm water and checked her phone. It was a message from Jing Rui, her address and their meeting time.
She stared at the message, lost in thought.
After five minutes of no reply, Jing Rui called. “Come over at 7 PM tomorrow night, I’ve sent you the address.”
The contract was still with Jing Rui; she had to get it back. Chi Jia thought, she could just pick up the contract and leave.
Finally, Chi Jia agreed. “Okay.”
The next day, a light drizzle fell, the temperature dropping even further.
Chi Jia finished work late, so she went straight to Jing Rui’s place from the office.
The subway was crowded, mostly with weary office workers, Chi Jia among them. Holding onto the handrail, she felt a mix of emotions, difficult to describe. This complicated feeling lingered until she reached Jing Rui’s doorstep.
Chi Jia stood there for a moment before ringing the doorbell.
A slight noise, and the door opened.
They stood face to face, looking at each other.
Chi Jia was bundled up in a heavy winter coat and scarf, her small face almost completely hidden. Jing Rui, on the other hand, was only wearing a silk nightgown, having just showered, her hair loosely tied up, accentuating her long neck.
One in winter, the other in summer.
"Come in."
Chi Jia pulled down her scarf slightly to speak. “I’ll just take the contract and leave, I won’t come in.”
Jing Rui grabbed Chi Jia’s hand and pulled her inside. “It’s cold with the door open.”
Then, the door closed behind them.
The temperature inside was significantly higher, warming Chi Jia up, almost to the point of feeling hot. No wonder the vixen could dress so lightly.
A faint aroma of food filled the air, making Chi Jia’s mouth water.
“I was out of town for a few days, just got back today.” Seeing Chi Jia still bundled up, as if afraid she would be eaten, Jing Rui asked with a smile, “Aren’t you hot?”
“I’ll just take the contract and leave…” Chi Jia’s voice wavered as she repeated this line, her mind wandering to thoughts she shouldn’t be having.
“I made seafood porridge,” Jing Rui said, taking Chi Jia’s bag and putting it aside. “Want a bowl?”
It turned out that seduction tactics worked on women too. Miss Chi, who had been so determined to leave immediately after retrieving the contract, now, seeing the vixen in her sexy nightgown, couldn’t seem to move her feet.
Chi Jia: “Mmm…”
Jing Rui smiled seductively. “Take off your coat and hang it on the rack.”
The thought of taking off her coat made Chi Jia feel inexplicably embarrassed. She was wearing a tight sweater underneath, and without her coat, her figure was actually quite decent, although not as good as the vixen’s.
Jing Rui’s gaze lingered on Chi Jia’s chest, and she leaned in, whispering, “Do you feel like they’ve gotten bigger?”
Chi Jia frowned, speechless. She had never met such a shameless woman. Actually, Miss Chi had no right to accuse Jing Rui of being shameless, considering her first thought when Jing Rui leaned in was that Jing Rui wasn’t wearing a bra.
“Just kidding. Go wash your hands, I’ll check on the porridge.” Jing Rui said, swaying her hips as she walked towards the kitchen.
Chi Jia watched her, thinking, that was blatant seduction, and it wasn’t the first time surnamed Jing had done this to her.
The kitchen was filled with a delicious aroma. Jing Rui tasted the porridge; it was perfect. She turned off the heat.
Chi Jia stood beside her. Jing Rui’s hair was tied up today, the lines of her profile impeccable. Her neck, shoulders, collarbone, and… chest. Chi Jia’s gaze took in everything with a single glance.
“Go get a bowl.” Jing Rui turned around. “Waiting for me to feed you?”
Chi Jia snapped back to reality and went to look for a bowl in the cupboard. The kitchen was too big; she couldn’t find any.
“Where are they?”
“The top cabinet.”
“I don’t see them…”
Jing Rui walked behind Chi Jia, pressing against her back, and reached for the cabinet. “Here.”
Jing Rui’s slender fingers brushed against Chi Jia’s hand, sending a jolt through her. Jing Rui’s breath warmed the back of her neck as she spoke, her body pressed against Chi Jia’s, just like in bed.
Chi Jia’s heart raced. She lowered her hand, turned around, and impulsively kissed Jing Rui, the series of movements fluid and natural, the kiss practiced and familiar.
Sometimes, all it took was a small spark to ignite a fire.
“What are you doing?” Jing Rui asked with a mischievous smile, knowing full well. She pulled Chi Jia closer, turning her around so they were face to face, a more suitable position for kissing.
“You seduced me first…” Chi Jia was always finding excuses for their intimacy, but in the end, it all came down to wanting to kiss her.
“Did I?”
Chi Jia’s hand had already found its way to an inappropriate place, and she hummed. “Not even wearing a bra, and you say you didn’t.”
Jing Rui’s expression turned slightly awkward at Chi Jia’s touch. She gently sucked on Chi Jia’s upper lip and sighed. “You wear a bra after showering?”
“Not telling…” Chi Jia captured Jing Rui’s lips again, a breathless kiss.
This was becoming addictive.
“Chi Jia, I think you’re the one waiting for me to seduce you.”
Miss Chi, while taking advantage of Jing Rui, argued, “I’m not!”
“Mmm…”
“You asked me over here, didn’t you, just to do this with me?” Chi Jia was completely lost in the moment, having forgotten about the contract. Actually, she hadn’t come here without any expectations, otherwise she wouldn’t have bothered wearing matching lingerie this morning.
Both of them were panting.
“Don’t go home tonight, okay?” Jing Rui pressed closer to Chi Jia, her hand wandering over Chi Jia’s body, kissing her earlobe. “I missed you…”
