Our Love, A Public Service - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Jing Rui's smooth, fair arm rubbed against Chi Jia's neck, their skin brushing against each other like a subtle caress, making Chi Jia slightly distracted.
"What are you thinking about? Your face is so red." The vixen's signature tone echoed in Chi Jia's ear. Even without looking back, she knew how seductive Jing Rui's smile must be.
Jing Rui's tone clearly implied that with a face so red, she must be thinking impure thoughts. And indeed, she was. Chi Jia felt exposed, her thoughts once again seen through by Jing Rui.
"Say another word… and I'll leave you here!" Unlike Jian Yi, Chi Jia had never been quiet and demure, a natural tomboy since childhood.
"Would you really?" Jing Rui asked with a smile, still close to Chi Jia's ear.
"..." As if they were really in some kind of relationship. Chi Jia had never met such a shameless woman like Jing Rui, but as Jing Rui's fragrant breath brushed against her ear, she shamelessly reacted.
When did seduction tactics start working on straight women? In any case, Chi Jia still refused to admit that she felt anything towards women.
Seeing the beads of sweat on Chi Jia's forehead, Jing Rui figured she must be tired. "Put me down, I can walk myself."
"By the time you walk back, it'll be daylight." Chi Jia stubbornly continued carrying Jing Rui. How could she walk in those shoes? The heels were so thin and high, like stilts.
After ten minutes, they finally returned to the hotel.
Chi Jia was exhausted. Looking at Jing Rui's feminine attire, she couldn't help but mutter, "Dressing up like this for a hike, who are you trying to impress?"
"Besides you, is there anyone else in this room?" Jing Rui's queenly retort left Chi Jia speechless once again.
"Not interested in joking with you." Chi Jia turned to take a shower, her body covered in a layer of sweat, feeling sticky.
Jing Rui leaned against the wall, watching Chi Jia's retreating figure, a mixture of amusement and exasperation in her smile. She couldn't understand why she kept provoking Miss Chi, even though they couldn't even hold a proper conversation.
In the next room.
Yun Xin, dressed in her bathrobe, came out of the bathroom. Seeing Jian Yi sitting on the bed, lost in thought and with no intention of sleeping, she asked, "Why aren't you sleeping yet?"
"I… I was waiting for you." Jian Yi stammered, unsure why she was so nervous.
Yun Xin smiled, walked over to the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down on the other side. "Go to sleep, we have to wake up early tomorrow."
"Okay." Jian Yi lay down, properly covering herself with the blanket.
Yun Xin turned to Jian Yi. Such a silly goose, such a big bed, yet she insisted on staying far away in a corner. "Come closer, don't fall off the bed."
"Okay..." Jian Yi moved closer, looking at Yun Xin's face with a silly smile. Yun Xin was perfect in her eyes, gentle, caring, beautiful, and always looking after her.
Yun Xin looked at the dimples on Jian Yi's cheeks, her smile so sweet, but… when would this silly girl finally understand her hints and feelings? When would she stop treating her as just a friend?
"Yun Xin..."
"What is it?"
"Are you feeling down lately?" Jian Yi felt Yun Xin had something on her mind. "Is it because of him?"
Jian Yi still remembered Yun Xin telling her about having a crush on someone, but that person never understood her feelings.
"Yes, it's because of her." Yun Xin moved even closer to Jian Yi, almost sharing the same pillow, and looked intently into Jian Yi's eyes. "After all this time, she still doesn't understand, I like her."
Jian Yi felt embarrassed under Yun Xin's gaze, but still softly asked, "Shouldn't you… tell him directly?" She had always thought the person Yun Xin liked must be exceptional.
"I'm afraid that if I confess, I'll scare her away, and we won't even be friends anymore." Yun Xin maintained eye contact with Jian Yi, her eyes clear and innocent.
"How could that be? You're so wonderful, he must like you too." Jian Yi couldn't imagine anyone rejecting Yun Xin.
Yun Xin looked at Jian Yi, silent for a long time, then asked jokingly, testing the waters, "How could it not be? What if, I told you I liked you, would you be scared?"
"Huh?!" Jian Yi's face flushed crimson, her heart pounding. She suddenly remembered what Chi Jia had said. "You like… girls? This..."
Yun Xin was completely defeated by this clueless girl, who still didn't understand that the "her" she was referring to was Jian Yi herself.
"Then, if I liked girls, would you hate me?" Yun Xin pressed on, seizing the opportunity.
Jian Yi lay in bed, her mind in turmoil. She was too surprised by Yun Xin's words to know how to respond.
"Just kidding." Yun Xin smiled, gently ruffled Jian Yi's hair, and said softly, "Silly, go to sleep."
The lights went out, plunging the room into darkness.
Jian Yi felt relieved, but her mind raced. Did Yun Xin really like women? And what Chi Jia said, was Yun Xin pursuing her…
Could the person Yun Xin liked be her? The thought startled Jian Yi; how could she even think that?
But she couldn't help but wonder...
Yun Xin couldn't sleep either. Although Jian Yi had never resisted her closeness, there was still a distance between them.
Lying in bed, not too far apart, the room was so quiet that they could hear each other's breathing.
As Jian Yi was lost in thought, she heard the rustling of sheets, and then, Yun Xin embraced her.
Yun Xin felt the person in her arms stiffen like a startled lamb. She closed her eyes, holding Jian Yi's slender body close, and murmured, "Just let me hold you for a while."
Jian Yi's heart beat faster and faster, afraid Yun Xin would hear it. But being held by Yun Xin felt so good, so warm and comforting. Jian Yi blushed, her arms instinctively wrapping around Yun Xin's waist. "Mmm..."
She didn't resist.
Jian Yi's embrace warmed Yun Xin's heart. As long as they got a little closer each day, she would eventually wait for the day this silly girl understood her feelings.
At the same time, in the next room, a similar ambiguous scene was unfolding. Why ambiguous? Purely because of what the vixen was wearing…
From the moment Jing Rui stepped out of the bathroom in her bathrobe, Chi Jia felt uneasy. How seductive could this woman be, dressing like this even for sleep? She managed to make a simple nightgown look like lingerie.
"So, are you joining me on the sofa?" Jing Rui had just finished drying her hair. Glancing over, she saw Chi Jia curled up on the sofa in an oversized T-shirt, her long, slender legs bare.
Chi Jia, who had insisted on taking the bed, ended up on the sofa after her shower. She said to Jing Rui magnanimously, "Since you're injured, I'll let you have the bed."
Jing Rui played with her hair, smiling at Chi Jia. "If you want to sleep on the bed, you can come up anytime, I don't mind."
That suggestive tone and gaze, coupled with her attire, made Chi Jia turn away. "No, thanks."
Jing Rui sat down on the edge of the bed, picked up the ointment from the nightstand, and started applying it. Although her skin didn't feel as irritated as before, it was still itchy and red. But many of the bites were on her back, out of reach, which was awkward.
Chi Jia noticed, tossing and turning on the sofa, then finally getting up barefoot, walking over to Jing Rui impatiently, taking the ointment from her, sitting on the bed, and applying it for her without a word.
Jing Rui pulled down the strap of her nightgown, exposing her shoulder and back so Chi Jia could apply the ointment.
Was she doing this on purpose? Chi Jia averted her gaze, unsure where to look. Although they were both women, their situation was… complicated.
This nightgown was perfect for applying ointment; most of her back was exposed, her shoulder blades delicate and beautiful. As Chi Jia's fingertips brushed against her skin with the ointment, some rather colorful thoughts flashed through her mind.
She and Jing Rui had showered together before, and although she was drunk that night, she remembered every detail clearly. Especially the vixen's figure…
Ahem, she was getting off track.
"Mmm… can you be gentler?" Jing Rui winced slightly.
"Then do it yourself!" Chi Jia snapped, but her movements subconsciously became lighter and gentler.
"Mmm..." That kind of itch could be incredibly stimulating.
Hearing the sound, Chi Jia's fingers trembled slightly. "Can you stop making that sound?"
Jing Rui turned her head slightly. "You're hurting me, and you won't even let me make a sound?"
Their conversation was becoming increasingly suggestive; anyone listening would think they were doing something else. When Jing Rui said it hurt, Chi Jia's mind flashed back to that night, Jing Rui on top of her, kissing her and asking if she was hurting her.
Chi Jia continued applying the ointment, both of them silent, the silence amplifying the tension between them.
Jing Rui felt a growing restlessness, especially as Chi Jia's breath brushed against the back of her neck. She turned her head. "Have you touched enough?"
Chi Jia didn't expect Jing Rui to suddenly turn around, their faces almost touching. Chi Jia blushed, quickly pulling her hand back, her heart racing. "Who touched you..."
Their close proximity and soft voices made the atmosphere even more ambiguous.
"You did..." Jing Rui said, then unable to resist, she leaned in and kissed Chi Jia, their lips meeting in a silent understanding.
"Mmm..." This time, the sound came from Chi Jia. Their heads tilted as they became lost in the kiss.
"Don't do this..." She wasn't drunk this time, and Chi Jia managed to maintain some composure, pushing Jing Rui away at the crucial moment.
"Sleep on the bed tonight, just tonight." Jing Rui turned and moved closer to Chi Jia on the bed. "I know you can't accept women. After tonight, we won't bother each other again, how about that?"
