Chapter 17

Being considerate, Jing Rui naturally let Yun Xin and Jian Yi share a room. She and Chi Jia were already like third wheels on this trip; it wouldn't make sense to separate the couple and each take one of them.

Chi Jia was unhappy with Jing Rui's arrangement. She walked over and linked arms with Jian Yi. "I'll share a room with Xiao Yi."

Jing Rui said calmly to Chi Jia, "It just so happens that we have time tonight to discuss the design proposal."

Chi Jia was prepared to fight to the death against this arrangement, but to her surprise, Jian Yi readily agreed with a smile. "Sounds good! Xiao Jia, you can share with Sister Jing Rui. I also have some work-related questions for Yun Xin."

"Let's do that then," Yun Xin also chimed in. "Jing Rui, take care of Xiao Jia."

Chi Jia's lips twitched. Was this a vacation or a work trip? The three of them seemed to have coordinated beforehand, their opinions surprisingly unanimous. What annoyed Chi Jia the most was that even Jian Yi wasn't on her side.

The outcome was obvious: three votes in favor, one against. Miss Chi's objection was overruled.

In the end, Chi Jia and Jing Rui shared a room, and Yun Xin and Jian Yi shared the other. After putting away their luggage, the four of them went to the most famous local restaurant for dinner.

The main purpose of this trip to Fengshan Mountain was to watch the sunrise tomorrow. So after dinner, they strolled around the ancient town at the foot of the mountain and then returned to the hotel to rest.

Another hotel room, and again, just her and the vixen.

Looking at the double bed large enough to sleep four people, Chi Jia said to Jing Rui without hesitation, "I'll take the bed, you take the sofa."

"Why?"

"I said I didn't want to share a room with you, who told you to..." Chi Jia's voice trailed off as Jing Rui's face drew closer, their eyes locking.

"I meant the bed is big enough for two people."

In the room, the warm, orange lighting created an intimate atmosphere. As they looked at each other, their minds wandered to that night.

The passion, the pleasure, the lingering aftertaste.

Her heart pounding, Chi Jia pushed Jing Rui away, keeping her distance. She was afraid that if they got too close, she would lose control and become entangled with the vixen again.

"I agreed to share a room with you because of Xiao Yi, not because I wanted to… you know..." Chi Jia felt a pang of embarrassment as she said "you know."

"Did I say I wanted to sleep with you?" Jing Rui said with a cold smile, rubbing her neck and turning towards the sofa. "I'll take the sofa, you take the bed."

Looking at Jing Rui's casual demeanor, Chi Jia was speechless.

Jing Rui sat down on the sofa. The back of her neck felt itchy, so she reached up and scratched it. From her neck to her shoulders, it felt like she had been bitten by something.

"Do you need to use the bathroom? If not, I'll take a shower first..." Chi Jia took out her pajamas, asking Jing Rui indifferently, then noticing something was amiss. "What happened to your neck?"

"I think I got bitten by bugs."

"Let me see." Chi Jia tossed her pajamas onto the bed, walked over to Jing Rui, and moved her hair aside. The skin on her neck and shoulders was red and irritated, definitely bug bites. Chi Jia grabbed Jing Rui's hand. "Don't scratch, it'll only get worse. Such a clueless old lady."

"What did you just call me?!" Jing Rui glared at Chi Jia. Nearing thirty, she was particularly sensitive about her age. "Chi Jia, do you still want that design project?"

Chi Jia immediately backed down, touching her nose and changing the subject. "Well, it's not serious, some ointment will do the trick."

Last year, during a club outing, Chi Jia had also come here to hike. This area had a lot of mosquitoes and insects in the summer, and someone in their group had gotten bitten just like Jing Rui.

Chi Jia still wanted to take a shower and not get involved, but after hesitating for a moment, she picked up her phone and prepared to go buy some medicine.

"Where are you going so late?" Jing Rui called out to Chi Jia.

Chi Jia was changing her shoes at the door, replying impatiently, "To buy you medicine! You're so troublesome..."

Jing Rui paused, then also stood up and put on her high heels. "I'll go with you. It's too late."

Chi Jia rolled her eyes at Jing Rui. "As if you're doing me a favor."

Her eye roll was rather cute. Jing Rui smiled, suddenly feeling playful, and cupped Chi Jia's face in her hands, gently pinching her cheeks. Young skin was so nice, full of collagen, so soft and smooth.

"Don't touch me..." Chi Jia tried to dodge, her words slurred from Jing Rui's squeezing, but seeing Jing Rui's smile, she couldn't help but smile awkwardly as well, muttering, "Crazy woman!"

It was late, and many pharmacies were closed. Chi Jia and Jing Rui walked around for ten minutes before finally finding a 24-hour pharmacy.

After buying the medicine, they walked back.

Fengshan Ancient Town had a history of over a hundred years. Thanks to recent promotions, it was attracting more and more tourists. The old stone-paved streets bore the marks of time, and many trendy bars had opened up along the streets, blending the ancient with the modern.

Chi Jia enjoyed strolling through old streets; sometimes, these old buildings could inspire her designs.

The night sky was filled with stars, incredibly beautiful. Although it was late, couples still strolled hand-in-hand along the streets; this was, after all, a popular tourist destination for couples.

As they walked, Jing Rui turned to look at Chi Jia, who was looking around, swinging the bag of medicine back and forth childishly.

"Why are you staring at me?" Chi Jia turned around nonchalantly; the vixen was indeed looking at her.

"I didn't expect you to be so thoughtful."

"I've always been like this, unlike you..." Chi Jia still couldn't see eye to eye with the vixen.

A streetlight ahead was broken, dimming the street.

After a moment of silence, Jing Rui slowed her pace. "Chi Jia..."

"What?" Chi Jia turned around. The flickering light fell on Jing Rui, highlighting the beautiful contours of her face.

Jing Rui also turned, looking into Chi Jia's eyes. "I think I'm starting to like you, what should I do?"

A sudden confession? Well, sort of.

Chi Jia was stunned. What did "starting to like" even mean? She smiled dismissively. "Save that line for someone else, it won't work on me."

They continued walking.

"Ever considered dating a woman?" Jing Rui casually chatted with Chi Jia as they walked. "Actually, being with a woman is more comfortable. Women understand women better."

"Please, liking a woman is even more troublesome." Chi Jia immediately retorted. "Besides, I'm not interested in women… I can't discuss this with you, we're not the same kind of people."

Having already slept with a woman, yet claiming to be uninterested? Jing Rui had four words to describe Chi Jia: "Saying one thing, meaning another."

Chi Jia: "I'm not!"

A stray dog suddenly darted out from an alley, barking fiercely at Chi Jia and Jing Rui.

This sudden interruption in the quiet street was rather unsettling.

Jing Rui was startled and grabbed Chi Jia's arm. The thing was, Chi Jia was also scared, so they ended up clinging to each other, turning back.

"Ah—" The uneven stone pavement caused Jing Rui to twist her ankle as she turned.

"What happened to you now?!" Chi Jia quickly grabbed Jing Rui's waist, steadying her. "Such a grown-up, yet afraid of dogs."

"You ran even faster than me."

"..." Chi Jia was speechless. If she hadn't pulled Jing Rui, Jing Rui wouldn't have twisted her ankle. "Who told you to wear high heels!"

Jing Rui winced as she tried to walk.

"Can you still walk?" Chi Jia looked at Jing Rui's foot, thinking to herself, was it necessary to wear such high heels for a casual outing? It was difficult to walk in them normally, let alone with a twisted ankle.

Jing Rui looked at Chi Jia and simply stopped walking. "I can't. Carry me."

Chi Jia glanced at Jing Rui. "Are you doing this on purpose?"

"Would I have twisted my ankle if you hadn't pulled me?"

Chi Jia muttered a few complaints under her breath, then after a moment of stalemate, she handed the bag of medicine to Jing Rui and reluctantly bent down. "Hop on."

Jing Rui looked at Chi Jia's slender back, stunned. She had just been joking, but Chi Jia actually bent down. Since this service was offered, she wouldn't refuse...

It was less than a ten-minute walk back to the hotel. Jing Rui was light, and Chi Jia didn't find it difficult to carry her. Walking slowly along the old stone-paved street, she carried Jing Rui on her back.

Jing Rui leaned against Chi Jia's back; it was like an embrace, a very intimate position. She looked down at Chi Jia's face, her serious expression, and found herself momentarily captivated.

A couple happened to walk past, the boy carrying the girl on his back. Chi Jia suddenly felt that she and Jing Rui looked like a couple too. A bit ambiguous.

The cool mountain breeze was refreshing, ruffling Chi Jia's hair. Jing Rui brushed her hair aside and asked, "Am I heavy?"

Chi Jia didn't give face, exaggerating, "Extremely heavy."

"Do you know why?"

Chi Jia ignored Jing Rui and continued walking.

Jing Rui smiled, leaning close to Chi Jia's ear. "Because my breasts are bigger than yours."

Chi Jia: "..."

Hitting her where it hurt again. So what if she had bigger breasts? Chi Jia inwardly acknowledged the vixen's ample bosom, but refused to concede. "You're just average, I've touched them before..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Chi Jia fell silent. This topic wasn't appropriate.

Jing Rui noticed the slight blush on Chi Jia's cheeks. She had thought Chi Jia was thick-skinned, but that night, with a little teasing, Chi Jia's face had turned as red as a ripe apple.

Thinking of that night again, she couldn't forget it.

Jing Rui couldn't help but gently touch Chi Jia's face with her cool fingers. Instead of cooling down, Chi Jia's face felt even hotter.

"What are you doing…" Chi Jia's heart fluttered as Jing Rui's fingertips brushed against her cheek, especially with their bodies so close. Jing Rui's touch made her nervous and flustered. The vixen was teasing her again...

Jing Rui wrapped her arms around Chi Jia's neck and asked softly, "What are you thinking about? Your face is so red."
