If It’s Wrong, Then It’s Wrong - Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Chapter 7: The Second Day

This was the second time Cheng Liu had properly accompanied her boyfriend for a meal, and she noticed that he barely ate, as if the food in front of him was poison.

Cheng Liu’s gaze fell on his thin wrists. Being a model wasn’t easy; he couldn't even eat properly.

“You should eat well, so Aunt Yun doesn’t worry about you.” Cheng Liu had already started calling her “Aunt Yun” affectionately, without any hesitation.

Her boyfriend’s Aunt Yun was her Aunt Yun!

Before leaving, Aunt Yun had even asked her to take good care of her boyfriend. Cheng Liu now felt a sense of responsibility.

Ji Chaozhou paused, his chopsticks in hand, recalling Aunt Yun’s words to him in the gazebo that afternoon.

At least…before Aunt Yun passed away, he didn't want her to worry about him.

Cheng Liu watched with satisfaction as her boyfriend began to eat properly, her gaze lingering on his dazzlingly handsome face, slightly distracted.

Her boyfriend was perfect in every way, except for his somewhat unsophisticated name.

Whether it was Wang Haiyang or Wang Hongyang, the names sounded so unpleasant to Cheng Liu that she didn't want to say them aloud.

Calling such a handsome face “Hongyang” felt incredibly incongruous.

Since it was a name given by his parents, she couldn’t ask him to change it. Cheng Liu decided it was best to avoid using his name altogether.

“What are your plans for this afternoon?” Cheng Liu asked warmly after a while. There wasn't anything urgent at the company these few days, so she decided to spend more time with her boyfriend, putting her “perfect girlfriend” spirit into practice.

Ji Chaozhou looked up at the enthusiastic bodyguard across from him. She was probably afraid of being fired, so she wouldn't let go of any opportunity to be useful.

“The flower market.”

“Okay.”

S City had only one large flower market, covering a vast area, but it wasn't located within the city itself. All kinds of flowers were displayed in the open air, a dazzling sight.

Cheng Liu had never been to such a place before. She followed behind her boyfriend, watching him stroll through the stalls, occasionally picking up unfamiliar flowers to smell.

This was a completely unfamiliar world to Cheng Liu. At this moment, her attention was entirely focused on her boyfriend. Even though he was just wearing a thin black trench coat, he outshone all the surrounding flowers.

Her boyfriend stood in front of a flower stall, casually brushing his fingers against the stems, before finally picking a pinkish-jade flower and lowering his head to smell it.

Cheng Liu’s heart began to race.

Her heart hadn't pounded this fast even when she had pitched her company to investors for the first time.

Ji Chaozhou selected a few new varieties of flowers to take back for perfume research.

Ranshan was a perfume brand developed by Ji Chaozhou’s mother. It had once been extremely popular, but after his mother’s death, it had returned to niche status.

Now that Ji Chaozhou had taken over Ranshan, he had inherited his mother’s talent for working with scents. The Midu perfume he had developed two years ago had successfully brought Ranshan back into the public eye.

“I’ll carry them for you,” Cheng Liu offered helpfully, trailing behind her boyfriend.

Business partners carried their wives' bags, and she would carry her boyfriend's flowers. It was only natural!

Ji Chaozhou glanced back at the bodyguard for a moment before saying, “Don’t damage the buds.”

“Okay, b-boss!” Cheng Liu stammered.

Ji Chaozhou looked away from the flowers in her hands, not paying attention to her hesitation.

Cheng Liu watched her boyfriend walk away, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. She had been thinking about the interactions between the business partners and their wives, and almost called him the wrong thing. Thankfully, she had caught herself in time.

Her boyfriend was playing a role-playing game with her at lunch, and she was simply going along with it.

She understood the playful dynamics between lovers!

Just then, Cheng Liu saw the owner of the next flower stall unpacking a pair of sunglasses: “Boss, how much for the sunglasses?”

The flower stall owner was taken aback, then said, “These are for myself.” He had just opened the package.

“Will you sell them for a thousand?” Cheng Liu asked.

“Uh…sure!” The flower stall owner immediately handed over the sunglasses and held out his payment QR code: “Scan this.”

He had only paid three hundred for them online.

Two minutes later, Cheng Liu, wearing the black sunglasses and carrying the flowers, silently followed behind her boyfriend, dutifully playing the role of a “bodyguard.”

Ji Chaozhou finished selecting his flowers and turned to hand them to Number Six. He paused slightly, noticing the sunglasses that had suddenly appeared on her face, but quickly returned his attention to his task.

Cheng Liu, noticing that her boyfriend’s gaze had lingered on her face for a few seconds, thought to herself that buying the sunglasses had been the right decision. He clearly liked her playing the bodyguard!

Although she didn’t understand where the appeal lay, it didn’t stop Cheng Liu from trying to please her boyfriend.

From the first stall to the last, there weren't many flowers that caught Ji Chaozhou's eye. He mostly chose rare and unusual varieties.

However, they had only finished one row of stalls. Turning a corner, there was another row, even larger than the previous one, and these stalls sold not only flowers, but also various fruit tree saplings.

Her boyfriend had already walked up to a large stall and was talking to the owner.

“You’re here. The incense sticks you pre-ordered last week have all arrived, and we also have a few new varieties,” the stall owner, who clearly knew her boyfriend, said. “Shall I show you around first?”

“Yes, please.”

Cheng Liu wasn’t interested in these things. She was looking at a commotion in the distance, where a crowd had gathered.

She wondered what was happening as the crowd dispersed slightly.

Cheng Liu raised an eyebrow. She seemed to have spotted the female celebrity who had been on the same flight as her yesterday.

As the crowd parted further, Cheng Liu saw a raised camera.

Ji Chaozhou, who was about to go with the stall owner to look at the incense sticks, turned to his bodyguard: “Wait for me here.”

“Okay,” Cheng Liu replied dutifully. “Boss.”

Yun Fei was filming a promotional video today at the S City flower market. On her way here, she had wondered if she would run into Ji Chaozhou.

He often came here to source materials for his perfumes.

Sure enough, during a break in filming, Yun Fei saw Ji Chaozhou in the distance. She excused herself from the director and immediately walked towards him, ignoring the looks from the surrounding staff.

However, before she could get close, she saw Ji Chaozhou talking to a woman holding flowers, and then he left with the stall owner.

Yun Fei stared at the woman in sunglasses. She immediately recognized her as the woman who had led Ji Chaozhou away yesterday.

“What’s your relationship with him?” Yun Fei asked, suppressing her jealousy as she quickly approached Cheng Liu.

In all her years, apart from Aunt Yun, she had never seen anyone hold Chaozhou’s hand, let alone accompany him to choose fragrance ingredients.

Chaozhou had even…spoken to this woman on his own initiative.

Yun Fei sized up the woman in front of her. Even though she was 1.65 meters tall and wearing 7-centimeter high heels, she was still shorter than this woman.

Cheng Liu pulled down her sunglasses slightly, looking at the celebrity in front of her.

The modeling and entertainment circles seemed to overlap. Did this woman know her boyfriend?

Seeing that the other party remained silent, Yun Fei felt a strange sense of unease.

Even though she was wearing exquisite makeup and a bright, expensive dress, under the other woman’s casual gaze, she felt overshadowed.

“I’m his bodyguard,” Cheng Liu said seriously, pushing her sunglasses back up, holding the flowers in her left hand and clasping her left hand with her right behind her back.

She perfectly imitated the bodyguard posture she had seen in TV dramas.

Cheng Liu had heard that celebrities in the entertainment industry had to keep their relationships secret, otherwise it would affect their careers.

For the sake of her boyfriend's career, she wouldn’t reveal their relationship.

What if this female celebrity was her boyfriend's rival? She had heard from those business partners that competition for resources in the entertainment industry was fierce.

“What?” Yun Fei momentarily doubted her ears, her voice rising uncontrollably before she quickly regained her composure. She looked at Cheng Liu, “You’re really…his bodyguard?”

“Do you look down on female bodyguards?” Cheng Liu countered.

Yun Fei’s beautiful face was momentarily blank. She hadn’t expected this woman to be Chaozhou’s bodyguard.

But thinking about it carefully, it was the only explanation that made sense.

Otherwise, why would Chaozhou allow someone to touch him, and why would this woman be carrying his flowers?

“I misunderstood.” Yun Fei quickly composed herself, a polite smile appearing on her beautiful face. “Are you here to choose flowers?”

Unsure whether this bodyguard had been chosen for Chaozhou by Aunt Yun or Uncle Ji, Yun Fei continued to assess Cheng Liu, instinctively disliking her.

Cheng Liu smiled behind her sunglasses, saying nothing, maintaining her “bodyguard” persona.

“Yun Fei, we’re ready to start filming!” The director’s voice boomed from a distance through a megaphone.

“I have to go now.” Yun Fei lingered for a while longer, but still didn’t see Ji Chaozhou return. Looking back at the staff staring in their direction, she gritted her teeth and turned to go back to filming.

A few minutes later, Ji Chaozhou returned, carrying a dozen incense sticks.

Cheng Liu immediately reached out and took a bundle from him, pointing towards the crowd in the distance: “Yun Fei is filming over there. She was looking for you just now.”

Ji Chaozhou glanced in that direction, his expression unchanged.

Cheng Liu watched as her boyfriend walked in the opposite direction, raising an eyebrow slightly: As expected, they were rivals.
