Princess Syndrome - Chapter 130
Chapter 130: Happy
It wasn't just the secretaries outside the window who were dumbfounded. Su Lingyue was also bewildered by the hug. Why was Jiang Yunlu so enthusiastic? Although greeting people with hugs was normal overseas, she couldn’t help but feel awkward.
She turned her head.
She found the source of her awkwardness. Shen Yuan was staring at her.
Su Lingyue was speechless.
Did she have to be so petty?
She retaliated by patting Jiang Yunlu on the back. She was so thin, and Su Lingyue felt a little bad for her. Hearing Ji Zhiyi talk about her time in bed, she must just have recovered. Seeing how she walked just now, she still wasn't quite like a regular person. She guessed that her time abroad for recovery must not have been easy.
She knew it couldn’t have been easy.
Jiang Ya was always watching her, as was Ye Qiuyun.
She had thought that things were already difficult for Ji Zhiyi, but now that she looked at Jiang Yunlu and Shen Yuan, the path ahead was probably even more challenging.
Jiang Yunlu released her and said, "I often hear Ji Zhiyi talk about you."
Really?
Although Su Lingyue wanted to pretend to be nonchalant, the smile in her eyes gave her away. She couldn't hold it back, so she simply smiled. "She often talks about you with me too."
Jiang Yunlu's expression softened. "What did she say about me?"
Su Lingyue didn't hesitate. "She said you were very brave."
"I'm not brave at all." Jiang Yunlu laughed. She really didn't have to be brave. She had only ever known how to escape before, using the most extreme methods. After she woke up, she only knew how to deal with things passively.
Compared to Ji Zhiyi and Su Lingyue.
She was really not brave at all.
Ji Zhiyi had actually known she was awake for a long time. When she was keeping her company at night, she would talk about her past secret crush on Su Lingyue. Many times, she had wanted to ask Ji Zhiyi: if she saw Su Lingyue again, and Su Lingyue had already found love, what would she do?
Later, she actually asked this question.
Ji Zhiyi smiled. "Then I'd wish her happiness."
It was just a hypothetical question, but Ji Zhiyi's smile was tinged with bitterness. Perhaps Ji Zhiyi had also fantasized about this question countless times.
She asked, "Do you not regret it?"
Ji Zhiyi didn't answer.
How could she not regret it?
Perhaps, if she had been braver back then, her ending with Su Lingyue would have been different. If she saw Su Lingyue again and she really had found someone else, she would probably be unable to sleep and filled with regret.
So this was her answer.
Ji Zhiyi couldn't bring herself to say that she didn't regret it.
She only said after a long while, "Fortunately, fate was on my side once." So she had seized this opportunity, brave and fearless. When Jiang Ya threatened her by saying that all her efforts would be for naught if Su Lingyue found out about it, she had been able to say confidently, "She’ll love me even more."
Jiang Yunlu couldn't describe the shock she had felt when she'd heard those words.
Including Ji Zhiyi's subsequent blessing, "Fate will be on your side this time too."
She didn't dare to hope for it, but she couldn’t deny that it was Ji Zhiyi and Su Lingyue who had shown her hope. That was why she was so curious about Su Lingyue and wanted to see her the first thing after returning to the country, to embrace that power.
She was indeed as Ji Zhiyi had described.
She was a very pretty girl.
Shen Yuan, hearing them chat, asked, "Is Ji Zhiyi on a business trip today?"
Su Lingyue came back to her senses and replied, "Yes, this afternoon."
Jiang Yunlu said, "What a pity, I was going to invite you to dinner tonight."
She looked at Su Lingyue. "Then can I invite you to dinner tonight?"
Su Lingyue said, "Sure."
She had many questions she wanted to ask Jiang Yunlu, questions about Ji Zhiyi back then.
Ji Zhiyi received a message from Su Lingyue half an hour later. She had just woken up. She had been sleeping very deeply recently. It was as if she wanted to make up for all the sleep she had missed over the past few years. Sometimes, when Su Lingyue was on vacation, she would even keep her in bed, saying that she had been kept awake before and had to sleep more now.
Those were just some absurd excuses.
She just wanted to laze in bed, and wanted someone to be with her.
Ji Zhiyi read the message Su Lingyue had sent: [I just saw Jiang Yunlu.]
After sending it, she typed: [Should I call her Sister Yunlu?]
Seeing how concerned she was about her title for the first time, Ji Zhiyi’s heart was stung, and sour bubbles came to the surface: [Whatever.]
Su Lingyue: [How can whatever be okay? Don't you call her Sister Yunlu?]
Ji Zhiyi fiddled with her phone: [Then what do I call her, and you'll call her the same?]
What kind of question was that?
Wasn't that how it should be?
Su Lingyue took it for granted: [Yeah.]
Ji Zhiyi: [Then what do you usually call me?]
Su Lingyue paused for a few seconds, typed, then deleted.
Ji Zhiyi watched the message on the screen disappear after being typed and laughed.
Su Lingyue really hadn’t realized this issue. She was so used to calling her Ji Zhiyi. Although her tone was different, it seemed as if Ji Zhiyi had always called her Lingyue.
That voice was soft, and each time she heard it, she wanted to hug Ji Zhiyi.
So, was it possible that she was also unhappy when she called her like that?
Then, why didn't she say anything?
She was going to die from suppressing it!
Su Lingyue wanted to coolly send: [You didn't say anything either.]
Thinking about Ji Zhiyi's taciturn personality, she couldn't bring herself to do it. After much deliberation, she typed: [Then I’ll change it.]
Ji Zhiyi looked at the message and imagined the expression on Su Lingyue's face as she sent the message: a little unhappy and muttering to herself. She replied with: [Okay.]
Su Lingyue bit her lip, looking at Ji Zhiyi’s ‘Okay’, murmuring in her heart: Zhiyi?
Her thoughts got the better of her, and embarrassment flooded over. She bit her lip, feeling a sharp pain. She hurriedly put down her phone and looked in the mirror next to her. Her reflection was beaming like a flower.
She patted her face.
The secretaries, seeing her actions, whispered, "Who is she chatting with?"
The other secretary whispered back, "Was it that person from before?"
Secretary Li rolled her eyes at them. "It's definitely with her partner."
Zhang Ting then remembered. "Oh, right. Assistant Su has a partner."
The others: ...
Zhang Ting asked, "Who is her partner?"
Everyone paused for a second, then turned to look at Secretary Li. She was probably the one who knew the most here. Secretary Li noticed everyone's stares and said after a few seconds, "First of all, it’s not President Ji."
That was nonsense!
Who didn't know that!
Everyone rolled their eyes at her. Su Lingyue finally felt that the atmosphere in the office was strange. She looked up, and everyone immediately went back to work. The two secretaries almost bumped into each other. Seeing their panicked actions, Su Lingyue asked Zhang Ting, "What's wrong with them?"
Zhang Ting looked up and said, "Nothing."
Then she asked Su Lingyue, "Was that President Shen's girlfriend?"
Su Lingyue wasn’t sure of the relationship between Jiang Yunlu and Shen Yuan right now. Although she had heard that the two of them had worn wedding dresses together abroad, Ji Zhiyi had said that they did it to anger Jiang Ya and Ye Qiuyun. Moreover, things had been so rushed. She hadn’t had a chance to ask, so she shrugged.
Zhang Ting: ...
What did that mean?
Su Lingyue, seeing her confusion, was just as confused as her.
The two stared at each other, dumbfounded.
The entire office was dumbfounded.
Finally, it was time to leave work. Su Lingyue packed her bag. As she was about to leave, she received a call from Zhang Xian. "Did Sister Yunlu come to the office?"
Su Lingyue said, "Yes, weren't you at the office today?"
"No, I’m outside. My colleague just told me when I got back." Zhang Xian said, "What did she want with you?"
She hadn't heard that Jiang Yunlu knew Su Lingyue.
Su Lingyue said, "She asked me to dinner."
Zhang Xian's jaw dropped. "Huh? Why did she ask you to dinner?"
Su Lingyue said smugly, "Because I'm pretty."
Zhang Xian: ...
What was she doing by staying silent?
Su Lingyue said into her phone, "I'm not going to talk to you anymore, I'm going home to change clothes."
Zhang Xian, "Fine, remember to tell a certain someone, don’t let her get jealous again."
That wouldn't happen.
Ji Zhiyi wasn’t a petty person.
Besides, Jiang Yunlu and Shen Yuan were the hosts tonight, not just her and Jiang Yunlu. But then, Jiang Yunlu hadn't mentioned if she was bringing Shen Yuan. Su Lingyue wasn’t too sure about it. She decided to call Ji Zhiyi to tell her about it. She called, but no one answered.
Was she busy?
Su Lingyue was confused, but didn't think too much about it. She decided to call again after getting home. On the way, she received a message from Jiang Yunlu, who sent her the location of the dinner. Su Lingyue replied with an OK while waiting for the traffic light. When she parked, she called Ji Zhiyi again, listening to the ringing tone as she walked home. She heard ringing as she opened the door.
It was coming from the coffee table.
Ji Zhiyi's phone was still there!
That was Su Lingyue's first thought. Then, she saw Ji Zhiyi coming out of the bathroom, wearing her pajamas, a dry towel wrapped around her head, water droplets hanging from the side of her face. She was surprised. "Aren't you supposed to be on a business trip?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "Sister Yunlu called me and said that they were having a dinner tonight, so I postponed it for half a day."
Su Lingyue walked over. "Is it okay to postpone it for half a day?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "It’s okay. I was originally going over to prepare in advance."
Su Lingyue nodded and, putting down her bag, exploded. "Then why didn’t you tell me?!"
Ji Zhiyi said, "I wanted to give you a surprise."
Su Lingyue retorted, "It wasn't a surprise at all."
Ji Zhiyi walked over and hugged her, face to face. "Really?"
Su Lingyue looked up and met Ji Zhiyi’s gaze. She was just about to continue being stubborn when Ji Zhiyi pursed her lips and kissed her. Her thin lips met hers, with the dampness from just leaving the bathroom and a softness from being washed with water. Su Lingyue was enveloped by Ji Zhiyi's scent. Ji Zhiyi had only kissed her lightly as a way of comforting her. Su Lingyue wasn’t satisfied. When Ji Zhiyi tried to let her go, she followed the kiss, her hands reaching for Ji Zhiyi. Ji Zhiyi had only put on her pajamas after her shower, tying the belt around her waist. Su Lingyue could reach the softness without needing to untie her belt.
She only came back to her senses when she heard Ji Zhiyi call her Lingyue.
Su Lingyue glanced at her, feeling a little embarrassed for getting physical so soon after arriving home. She lowered her head and said, "I'm going to take a shower."
She turned around in the bathroom and shouted, "Ji Zhiyi, where's my blue hair drying cap?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "It’s on the balcony. I'll get it for you."
Su Lingyue was removing her makeup in the bathroom. Just as she had finished washing her face, she saw Ji Zhiyi come in with the hair drying cap, handing it over. Su Lingyue said, "Thanks."
She tugged on the cap, but Ji Zhiyi didn't let go.
Su Lingyue looked at her, confused, and pulled on it again, but Ji Zhiyi still didn't let go.
Su Lingyue asked suspiciously, "Ji Zhiyi?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "What did you call me?"
Su Lingyue immediately realized it. She had felt awkward about the way she called her in the afternoon. But it hadn't been a big deal originally, just the matter of calling her name. With the way Ji Zhiyi was looking at her, it made her feel especially shy.
Was she such a shy person?
Su Lingyue bit her lip and turned her head. "Zhiyi."
Her tone was stiff. You would think Ji Zhiyi had forced her to do it. Ji Zhiyi saw her flushed face, stood in front of her, and said, "Call me again."
Did she think she was Xiao Mafan? Was she teasing a cat?
And asking her to call her again!
Su Lingyue felt her face burning. She turned to look at Ji Zhiyi. Ji Zhiyi’s eyes were gentle, staring at her. Su Lingyue took a deep breath, stepped forward, and directly hugged Ji Zhiyi, burying her face in her chest. She breathed in the familiar scent, and her voice softened, "Zhiyi."
The end of her voice had a hook to it, soft and gentle.
Ji Zhiyi lowered her head. The skin on her chest had been turned red by Su Lingyue. When Su Lingyue was about to release her, she hugged Su Lingyue, still holding her tightly in her embrace, and called out, "Lingyue."
Su Lingyue said, "Yeah?"
Ji Zhiyi leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "Wife."
Su Lingyue noticed that Ji Zhiyi's body tensed as she said those words. Her hands were hugging her waist tightly, not letting her move. Su Lingyue suddenly understood that Ji Zhiyi was actually more shy than she was sometimes, but every time she was so proactive, with the same unwavering courage even when rejected. Su Lingyue felt a pang in her heart as she realized that love hidden in the small details.
Su Lingyue remained buried in Ji Zhiyi's chest. This time, what was burning Ji Zhiyi wasn't her red face, but her tears.
Ji Zhiyi lowered her head, calling out uncertainly, "Lingyue?"
Su Lingyue looked up at her, tears streaming down her face. Ji Zhiyi was confused. "Why are you crying?"
She choked back a sob. "I'm happy."
Ji Zhiyi didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
