Princess Syndrome - Chapter 124
Chapter 124: Love You
Su Lingyue was at her most efficient when she was angry. The movie looped again and again. Ji Zhiyi had lost count of how many times she had heard the familiar lines. Her body was so sensitive that she would flinch at the slightest touch. Su Lingyue was nestled in her arms, the tips of her hair unintentionally brushing against Ji Zhiyi’s skin. Ji Zhiyi held her. When Su Lingyue tried to turn over, Ji Zhiyi said, "Don't move."
The person in her arms stilled.
Ji Zhiyi lowered her head, looking at the top of Su Lingyue's head through the dim light. She brushed her cheek against her hair. Su Lingyue raised her eyes and said, “Should we turn off the lights?”
She felt like it would take a lot of effort just to turn off the TV.
Ji Zhiyi shook her head. "It's fine like this."
Su Lingyue rested her head on her chest, listening to her heartbeat so close to her ears. She snuggled in even closer. Ji Zhiyi called out, "Lingyue."
Her voice was slightly hoarse.
Only then did Su Lingyue settle down.
Ji Zhiyi turned to embrace Su Lingyue. Only when she heard Su Lingyue's steady breathing did she lower her eyes. Su Lingyue's eyes were a little swollen, and the corners of her eyes were red. She had even cried during what they were doing a few times. Ji Zhiyi had gone along with her, coaxing her. Until both of them were exhausted and laid on the sofa. Su Lingyue put the hat on her head, resting her head on Ji Zhiyi's chest, saying, “I won’t ask, but you’re not going to say anything?”
Ji Zhiyi was in a daze.
Su Lingyue said, “You’re really good at keeping things bottled up. Didn’t you ever think about telling me?”
Ji Zhiyi said, "I did."
There were times when the words were on the tip of her tongue, but she had swallowed them back down. Su Lingyue said, "I don't believe you, you just keep it all to yourself."
Saying this, she rubbed her thigh against Ji Zhiyi’s. Ji Zhiyi hugged Su Lingyue, her body tensing, "I really did think about it."
Su Lingyue hummed, changing positions and giving her the hat back.
Ji Zhiyi was looking at the brim of the hat when she heard Su Lingyue ask, "You--what did you write in your love letters?"
After saying that, she felt a little annoyed.
How could she be so stupid. Ji Zhiyi had mentioned the love letters when they first met, so why hadn’t she connected the dots?
Then she thought, how would she be able to connect the dots?
She was used to having people pursuing her since she was young.
But she wasn’t so shameless to think that everyone was going to pursue her.
So, it was Ji Zhiyi's fault.
Why was she so secretive?
Ji Zhiyi was amused by her twisted logic. She smiled, her voice hoarse. "I didn't write anything."
Su Lingyue said, "When did you first meet me?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "When I was in my second year of high school."
Her second year?
First semester or second semester?
Su Lingyue was just about to ask, when Ji Zhiyi said, "June 23rd."
“June 23rd?” Su Lingyue was surprised. "You remember it so clearly..." Then she felt that the number was so familiar, and couldn't help but say, "Is that your password?"
Ji Zhiyi hugged her and said, "Yeah."
Su Lingyue said, "You!"
Her heart felt both angry, and annoyed, and uncomfortable. She grabbed Ji Zhiyi's wrist, wanting to bite it, but looking at that slender wrist, she just rubbed it with her teeth. Then, she handed her wrist over.
Ji Zhiyi didn’t understand and looked at her.
Su Lingyue said, “Take a bite.”
Ji Zhiyi laughed. "Why?"
Su Lingyue said, “Aren’t you angry?”
Ji Zhiyi said, "Why would I be angry?" She felt content that she could embrace Su Lingyue.
Su Lingyue wasn’t having it. “If you aren’t angry, then I’m angry. Bite me.”
Ji Zhiyi was speechless.
She had just said that about someone else being weird.
What kind of weird habit was this?
Ji Zhiyi obediently pulled Su Lingyue's wrist over, looked at her. Su Lingyue couldn’t bear to look, she was afraid it would hurt, burying herself in her arms. Ji Zhiyi was just holding Su Lingyue's wrist, then kissed the inner side, her lips touching her skin. Su Lingyue looked up.
Her eyes were full of tears.
Ji Zhiyi said, "I didn't bite you, why are you crying again?"
This was more painful than a bite.
Su Lingyue felt like Ji Zhiyi was doing it on purpose.
Doing it on purpose to make her feel uncomfortable, to make her heart ache, and to make her cry.
Ji Zhiyi laughed and cried at the same time.
She reached out, holding Su Lingyue’s waist tightly. She heard Su Lingyue murmuring in her sleep, and leaned closer, hearing her call out, "Ji Zhiyi."
Ji Zhiyi kissed Su Lingyue's lips, her eyes gentle.
The next day, the two of them slept until noon. When Su Lingyue woke up, her eyes were burning, painful and uncomfortable. She wanted to rub her eyes, but she was afraid of the pain. Squinting her eyes, she reached for her phone, but opened her eyes wide instantly.
It was twelve o’clock.
She hadn't asked for leave today!
Luckily, Zhang Ting knew about her leave request yesterday. Guessing that she had something going on, she had extended it for another day. Su Lingyue breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, I'll treat you to dinner when I get back.”
Zhang Ting was humming a little tune.
With Qi An and Meng Jiu not there, the entire office was relaxed.
Their work had been more pleasant these days.
After hanging up, Secretary Li asked, “Hasn’t Assistant Su finished her things?”
Zhang Ting shook her head. “Not yet.”
Others were curious. "What is it?"
Zhang Ting said, “I don’t know either.”
She truly didn’t know. Thinking about how concerned her colleagues were, she couldn't help but send Su Lingyue a message. "Assistant Su, if you need any help, just let me know."
Su Lingyue's heart warmed. After replying to Zhang Ting, she put down her phone and looked at Ji Zhiyi, covering her with the blanket. Xiao Mafan jumped over, wanting to squeeze under the blanket. Su Lingyue wanted to stop her from causing trouble, but just as she spoke, Ji Zhiyi changed her posture. She bit her lip, and smiled at Xiao Mafan. Xiao Mafan, with a devious nature, burrowed into the blanket from the corner.
Soft cat fur immediately brushed against the skin on their legs.
Su Lingyue wanted to pull her leg back, but when she turned her head, Ji Zhiyi had woken up.
She smiled, “It's the cat."
Ji Zhiyi said, "Yeah, I know."
Xiao Mafan burrowed out from the other side of the blanket and wriggled her head next to them, before lying straight between Ji Zhiyi and Su Lingyue, putting her head on Ji Zhiyi’s arm, wanting to be hugged.
Su Lingyue let out a "ha," and poked Xiao Mafan's head.
Xiao Mafan lifted her head to look at her, and then hugged Ji Zhiyi.
Su Lingyue said, "I've been keeping you company at home these past few days! You're heartless!"
Xiao Mafan seemed to understand, and flicked her tail. Su Lingyue poked her again, and Xiao Mafan let out a soft meow. Ji Zhiyi watched the two, who seemed unable to communicate, arguing happily. She asked Su Lingyue, "Aren't you going to the company?"
Su Lingyue said, "I asked for leave."
Saying this, she looked at Ji Zhiyi. "I can't take any more leave tomorrow."
Ji Zhiyi was speechless.
How was it like she was the one asking Su Lingyue to take leave?
It was clear that she had been the one who hadn't wanted to sleep and couldn't get up in the morning.
Ji Zhiyi nodded. "Then what should we eat for lunch?"
Su Lingyue said, "What do you want to eat?"
Before Ji Zhiyi could say anything, she added, “Let’s order in?”
Ji Zhiyi said, "Okay."
After Su Lingyue ordered, she went to the bathroom to wash up. She poured Ji Zhiyi a cup of warm water, and saw her getting out of bed to get changed. Su Lingyue tidied up the sofa, waiting for Ji Zhiyi to come out. Su Lingyue was sitting on the rug by the coffee table. On the thick, brown rug, Su Lingyue was sitting. Xiao Mafan was next to her leg. Su Lingyue was feeding her cat treats. When she heard movement, she turned her head. Ji Zhiyi was walking over.
Xiao Mafan also heard the sound. She got up from the rug, stretched her paw, and jumped onto the coffee table. She was meowing at Su Lingyue, wanting more to eat. Su Lingyue was also meowing at her. Xiao Mafan then sat on the remote control. Su Lingyue wanted to take the remote control, but Xiao Mafan hugged her hand, trying to bite her. Su Lingyue turned her head, and complained, "Ji Zhiyi, your cat is bullying me."
Ji Zhiyi was speechless.
Xiao Mafan was speechless.
Su Lingyue looked at Ji Zhiyi with big, teary eyes.
Her acting skills.
Ji Zhiyi walked over and picked up the remote control. "What do you want to watch?"
Su Lingyue leaned against her. "Anything." Then she tilted her head. "Or do you want to watch last night’s movie?"
Ji Zhiyi's fingers tensed as she held the remote, her heart tingling. If she heard the plot of that movie again, she was afraid her body would remember it. Seeing that Ji Zhiyi wasn't saying anything, Su Lingyue leaned closer. Ji Zhiyi casually changed the channel to a TV series.
It was a popular TV series, and she even saw an old acquaintance.
Seeing Yang Zhizhi on TV, she felt like she was quite different from her usual self.
Su Lingyue stared at the screen. Ji Zhiyi said, "Lingyue."
She turned her head. Ji Zhiyi said, "Is there any more fruit?"
Su Lingyue said, "I'll go wash some."
Saying this, she slipped into the kitchen. After a while, she came out, the fruit all cut up. The channel had changed again. Su Lingyue asked, "Where did that one go?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "It finished."
Su Lingyue didn't suspect her. After sitting down, she handed the fruit to Ji Zhiyi. Ji Zhiyi ate some. The two of them looked at the screen. It was a reincarnation drama. Su Lingyue laughed. Ji Zhiyi turned her head. Su Lingyue said, "I was also thinking last night, if only I could be reincarnated."
Ji Zhiyi laughed. "Reincarnated, what would you do?"
Su Lingyue said, "I would tell my mom to get a divorce quickly.” Her expression was serious. The sunlight outside the window shone on her face, and although her eyes weren't as swollen, they were still red. Her tone was calm. She turned her head to look at Ji Zhiyi. “I would find you earlier.”
Ji Zhiyi felt the fruit in her mouth was very sweet. She said, "Then I wouldn't date early."
"You would date early as soon as you saw me." Su Lingyue was very confident. “Or maybe when you give me love letters, I’ll recognize you, and then I’ll take care of your parents, take care of you, and sponsor you to go abroad.”
Would they be different from how they were now?
Perhaps back then, she and her mother would have become independent, and then she and Ji Zhiyi would have made a brand together again. She could accompany Ji Zhiyi to any occasion and introduce her to others. "This is my wife."
She would walk in front with Ji Zhiyi, infinitely glorious.
Ji Zhiyi was listening to her, her head lowered, smiling.
Su Lingyue was unconvinced. “You don’t believe me?”
Ji Zhiyi said, “I believe you.”
She added, “But I don’t believe in myself.”
Su Lingyue looked at her.
Ji Zhiyi said, "If I did it again, I don't have the confidence that I could do better."
Su Lingyue rarely saw her with such an expression. The sunlight was on her eyebrows, softening her features. Su Lingyue said, "You don't need to do better." She looked at Ji Zhiyi, turned Ji Zhiyi’s face toward her, looking at her, Su Lingyue said, “The current you is the best, the very, very best!”
Ji Zhiyi looked at her, her expression gentle, as if she had been comforted, the corners of her lips curving upwards slightly.
The sunlight reflected fully on the corner of her eyes, reflecting a color in her pupils. Su Lingyue looked at this person, at those eyes, and called out, "Ji Zhiyi."
Ji Zhiyi said softly, “Yeah?”
Su Lingyue cupped her face, smiling, and said, "I love you."
