Princess Syndrome - Chapter 117
Chapter 117: Kiss
Ji Zhiyi sat in the car, her fingers gripping the steering wheel, her head tilted as she watched the entrance. People came out one after another, but there was no familiar figure. She was prepared for not being able to see Su Lingyue tonight. Even though she couldn't see her, her heart was strangely calm, a quiet tranquility that was hard to describe. It was as if simply being near Su Lingyue was enough to satisfy her.
She looked down at the custom gift box on the passenger seat, her fingers tracing the silk on the top.
Then she looked up.
Still no sign of Su Lingyue.
She lowered the car window, remembering what Su Lingyue had said at Zhang Xian's place. Lingyue was right. She was the type who rarely explained her actions. When she was young, her family's conditions weren't bad, but when her younger sister arrived, she had to yield to her. Her parents were busy, so she had to be considerate of them. Even before anyone taught her, she had understood these things. So, she always dealt with everything by herself.
Her parents always said she was good and sensible. She was like a template with standard answers, always doing her part.
Later, when her father became critically ill, half the family's responsibilities fell on her shoulders, but she never complained, taking care of her sister and bearing the family's burdens.
Then, she met Jiang Ya.
She went abroad.
All the decisions were made alone. Being in an unfamiliar place with a language barrier made her close herself off for a while, but she never thought about complaining to her parents. She just took handfuls of sleeping pills.
After that, she became even more silent. At that time, she only had one goal, and she rushed toward it recklessly and urgently. She felt that others couldn't understand her, and her parents couldn't understand her either.
Sitting in the car, Ji Zhiyi thought, all those times she felt disheartened by her mother, who always praised Jiang Ya and told her to be filial, was it partly her own fault?
Because she never explained herself, had she inadvertently widened the distance between them?
Because she was doing well now, owning Yilin, in her mother's eyes, Jiang Ya had sent her to school, sent her abroad, and was now letting her run the company. Because her mother was unaware of her struggles and her deals with Jiang Ya, they thought she should be grateful and told her to be good to Jiang Ya.
Because they felt that the only way to repay Jiang Ya was to be good to her.
Ji Zhiyi held her phone, swiped open the screen, and found her mother's contact. The last time they had spoken on the phone was when they had visited Qingquan City. "Zhiyi, your assistant came by earlier. She said she came to feed the cat. Mom didn't know someone else was feeding it. Mom had already fed it, so she came all the way for nothing, and it was even raining. Can you tell her for me that Mom didn't mean to do that."
"Zhiyi, your house is so big."
"Zhiyi, can we sleep in this room tonight? It looks like no one sleeps here, so your father and I will sleep here."
It was her house, but her mother was so cautious. Ji Zhiyi had previously disliked her mother's overly humble attitude because of Jiang Ya. Then, one more time she heard her say, "You have to take care of Godmother over there..." before she coldly responded, "I know."
She had grown resentful toward her parents because of Jiang Ya.
But she had never considered that, apart from these things, her mother knew nothing about her.
So, their conversations always revolved around Jiang Ya.
Ji Zhiyi rubbed her head, thinking for a while before calling her mother.
Lu Yuanchun was taking a walk with Ji Quan, with neighbors on either side of them. A neighbor said, "Old Ji, I heard you went abroad recently?"
Another neighbor chimed in, "You didn't know? Their Zhiyi is working abroad. They took them out for some fun recently."
The neighbor asked curiously, "Why didn't you stay longer?"
"Yeah, you came back so quickly. But Zhiyi is really impressive. I heard she's a boss in a big city. I only saw her come back last time during the New Year. She's very busy."
Lu Yuanchun smiled awkwardly.
A neighbor asked, "Zhiyi doesn't have a partner yet, does she? I think the nephew from Old Li's family is quite good. He also works in a big city. Old Ji, do you want to take a look?"
Ji Quan said, "Our child has her own plans."
Lu Yuanchun said, "Yes, our Zhiyi always has a mind of her own. We won't interfere in her love life."
"How can it be interfering? She's busy and doesn't have time to find a partner. You..." Before she could finish, Lu Yuanchun's phone rang. She looked at the caller ID, a little doubtful she had seen it correctly.
Ji Zhiyi rarely called her and seldom came back.
Her heart skipped a beat. Amidst the laughter of neighbors who were teasing her about her daughter being so considerate, she answered the phone. "Zhiyi, what's wrong?"
Ji Zhiyi was silent for a few seconds after hearing Lu Yuanchun's voice, before finally finding her own voice. "Mom." She used to speak directly and get to the point without any small talk. But at this moment, she couldn't say what she wanted to. It seemed that long-standing estrangement couldn't be resolved just with one courageous act.
It was Lu Yuanchun who asked, "Have you eaten?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "I have."
She asked, "Have you eaten?"
Lu Yuanchun said, "Yes, yes, we ate. Your father and I are downstairs taking a walk."
Ji Zhiyi said softly, "Oh, okay."
Lu Yuanchun asked, "Is something the matter?"
"I..." Ji Zhiyi listened to her voice, paused for a few seconds, and then Lu Yuanchun asked, "Did you have an argument with Godmother?"
It was the first time Ji Zhiyi had ever heard Lu Yuanchun say "Godmother." She didn't feel agitated, instead she said patiently, "No, it's my own matter."
Lu Yuanchun listened quietly.
Ji Zhiyi said, "Mom, I have a partner."
There was a moment of silence on the other end. Lu Yuanchun was speechless for a moment, before saying, "Ah, partner-- you have a partner? Where is she from? What does she do? How did you meet? How old is she? Is she good to you?"
It was a barrage of questions. Ji Zhiyi heard the commotion on the other end. "She's a year younger than me, from this city, and she's my assistant." After saying that she added, "I like her very much."
Lu Yuanchun didn't know how to react, her mind in a whirlwind of emotions. She knew one thing for sure. This was the first time Ji Zhiyi had spoken to her about her love life.
Lu Yuanchun said, "Okay, okay, then come back when you have time."
Ji Zhiyi said, "Okay." She said, "Then, Mom, you go ahead."
Some habits were hard to change, such as her formal way of speaking. Upon hearing this, Lu Yuanchun immediately understood she shouldn't disturb her. She habitually said, "Okay, then you work--". She changed her words, "Then, take care of yourself, come home when you have time."
Ji Zhiyi agreed.
After hanging up the phone, she took a deep breath and looked at the car window. The wind rustled the leaves, creating a swishing sound. A click sounded, and the passenger door was opened, followed by a figure standing at the door.
Su Lingyue had been lying upstairs for a long time. She figured that with Ji Zhiyi's personality, she wouldn't leave if she didn't go down. She was thinking that if she didn't leave, then she wouldn't leave, who was more stubborn? But her body was being honest. She changed her shoes, took the elevator down, and saw the car parked beside the flower bed.
Just as she thought.
Her face was still grumpy as she sat in the passenger seat. Ji Zhiyi handed her the gift box. Su Lingyue said, "I'll try it on upstairs."
Her tone was stiff.
Ji Zhiyi didn't seem to mind. It was as if her coming down was a great gift. She nodded, her gaze gentle. "Okay. Do you want me to take you back up?"
Hearing her calm voice, Su Lingyue tilted her head and glanced at her.
Ji Zhiyi said, "I just... I called my mother."
So what?
Calling her and telling her this?
Su Lingyue clearly wanted to act cold, but the strong defense line in her heart cracked open, and warmth seeped in.
The subtle changes in Ji Zhiyi made Su Lingyue's heart tighten.
She said nonchalantly, "Oh."
Ji Zhiyi said, "I told her, I have a partner." Her voice was gentle. "I like my partner very much."
Talk properly!
Su Lingyue's face was still tense, but the corners of her mouth were curving upwards. She tried hard to suppress it.
Creating a distorted expression.
Who was she trying to fool?
Su Lingyue turned her head and looked at the car window, but when she turned her face, she saw her own reflection, trying hard not to laugh.
Worthless!
She cursed herself, touched her ear, and said, "Is there anything else? Just say it all at once."
Ji Zhiyi said, "That's all."
Even though she said that was all, Su Lingyue was reluctant to leave. She held the gift box in her arms. It was wrapped in silk, so she could imagine the valuable gift that was inside. She had worked so hard abroad, taking care of Jiang Yunlu every day, dealing with Jiang Ya, and she had still prepared this gift carefully for her.
Su Lingyue's fingers touched the edge of the gift box, thinking for a few seconds before pulling open the silk. When the box was open, the high heels inside were unusually beautiful, so vibrant that they seemed to glow. Ji Zhiyi turned on the car lights because it was dark inside, and the light shone on the diamond cuts, making them sparkle.
It was simply a work of art.
Su Lingyue admired them once again, and unwilling to try them on, it was Ji Zhiyi who took the shoes and placed the gift box in the back seat. Only then did Su Lingyue slowly take off her shoes. Ji Zhiyi placed the high heels by her feet, her upper body leaning forward. Su Lingyue lowered her eyes and saw Ji Zhiyi's slender waist. She obediently stepped into the high heels.
Ji Zhiyi fastened the ankle straps.
The cool touch against her skin made her shiver.
Ji Zhiyi said, "They fit perfectly."
Su Lingyue twisted her toes, her eyes meeting Ji Zhiyi's, who was slightly looking up. Ji Zhiyi asked, "Do you like them?"
She really wanted to look away, but Ji Zhiyi's eyes seemed to have a light that attracted her to fall into them.
Before Su Lingyue could open her mouth, Ji Zhiyi's upper body leaned on her knees again, as if helping her fasten the other ankle strap. Her smooth long hair fell onto Su Lingyue's legs, a delicate, ticklish sensation. Su Lingyue clenched her hands by her sides.
Ji Zhiyi looked up again.
But this time, the angle was lower.
From her angle, Su Lingyue could see Ji Zhiyi's slender neck and her barely visible collarbone without any obstruction. Her body was tense.
Ji Zhiyi said, "All done."
Su Lingyue felt her face burning up.
Her back was against the seat, she was practically about to catch fire.
Ji Zhiyi sat up, her scent no longer around her nose. Su Lingyue felt a strange sense of discomfort. She turned her head to look at Ji Zhiyi. Ji Zhiyi was still looking down at her feet. Su Lingyue felt her gaze was too hot, and curled her toes. Ji Zhiyi's gaze shifted from her feet to Su Lingyue's face.
Her gaze was still open and unrestrained.
Full of undisguised affection.
Su Lingyue couldn't handle it. She said, "They fit well, thank you." She wanted to open the door. "I'm leaving."
Ji Zhiyi called out, "Lingyue."
Su Lingyue's eardrums buzzed, the sound echoing from all around her. She suddenly lost all strength in her hand holding the door handle. She turned her head, and her eyes met Ji Zhiyi's. Ji Zhiyi leaned a little closer, reached out her hand, Su Lingyue watched her hand move from her side and onto the door handle. As if she was burned by water, Su Lingyue quickly pulled her hand back. Her body recoiled backward, leaning onto Ji Zhiyi's soft body.
She felt like Ji Zhiyi was seducing her.
She was too bad.
Was she really so weak-willed?
Su Lingyue angrily turned her head, her cheek brushing against Ji Zhiyi's face, the scent swirling around her nose. Su Lingyue's body tensed up instantly.
She was.
Su Lingyue gave up resisting. She cupped Ji Zhiyi's face and pressed her lips against hers, kissing her with a force that was both venting and demanding. Ji Zhiyi let out a soft moan in pain. The sound drifted to Su Lingyue's ears, and her tongue became even more aggressive, stirring the sweetness within. Her thin lips were squeezed and rubbed into various soft curves. Su Lingyue sucked and bit, unlike the usual Ji Zhiyi, who would allow her to take what she wanted, she was responding actively. Su Lingyue's one hand was around Ji Zhiyi's neck, and the other was cupping Ji Zhiyi's face.
The piercing sound of a phone ringing suddenly broke the tender atmosphere in the car.
Su Lingyue froze for two seconds and sat up straight. She coughed, took out her phone, and saw the name on the screen.
Chu Yi had gone to the bathroom and noticed that Su Lingyue wasn't there. She was wondering what had happened and was worried that something might happen to her, so she called her to ask. Su Lingyue said, "I'm downstairs. Ji Zhiyi just brought me something."
Chu Yi was relieved. "Okay."
She muttered, "You went down just because she brought you something?"
Weren't they still fighting?
Su Lingyue said, "It was something I needed."
Chu Yi said, "Oh," then, thinking that Ji Zhiyi had already delivered what she needed, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you two okay now?"
Su Lingyue's face flushed, her ears burning. She bit her lip. Her lips were swollen from Ji Zhiyi's kisses, they were throbbing. Her voice was a bit weaker, but she was still stubborn. "Who's okay!"
After saying that she looked at Ji Zhiyi guiltily.
Ji Zhiyi was still looking at her intently, her lips red. She smiled and then leaned in to kiss Su Lingyue's lips after she finished speaking.
Su Lingyue pursed her lips.
Her heart was pounding uncontrollably!
