Chapter 10

"You took advantage of me!" Chi Jia's voice was quite high-pitched, a characteristic that also manifested in her everyday speech.

In the confined space of the car, Chi Jia's tone gave Jing Rui a headache.

"It was mutual, how is that taking advantage?" Jing Rui gently rubbed her temples, leaning back in her seat and smiling faintly at Chi Jia. "Didn't you say it was quite comfortable?"

Both Chi Jia and Jing Rui's voices were loud.

The driver was startled by their conversation, but maintained a calm expression.

The word "comfortable" echoed in Chi Jia's ears, filling her with embarrassment.

"..." Chi Jia was speechless, at a loss for words.

Jing Rui had only kissed her a couple of times initially; later, it was indeed Chi Jia who took the initiative, passionately seeking her kisses.

"If you feel like I took advantage of you," Jing Rui said, suddenly leaning towards Chi Jia, trapping her in the corner of the backseat, her voice low, "I'll let you kiss me for another five minutes, how about that?"

Their faces were very close, their breaths mingling.

Looking at Jing Rui's delicate features, Chi Jia blushed slightly.

Somehow, she had never blushed even when flirting with attractive men, but now, this woman could make her blush with a single glance.

How embarrassing.

The atmosphere turned intimate again. Prolonged eye contact could lead to kissing; this theory definitely had some basis.

She was actually shy.

Jing Rui enjoyed seeing Chi Jia blush, just as she enjoyed hearing her contradictory words. She lowered her voice and whispered in Chi Jia's ear, teasing her deliberately, "Not enough? Then I'll let you kiss me until we get home..."

The drive home was still another ten minutes or so.

So she liked women. No wonder she was so adept at flirting with women.

Chi Jia had always seen Jing Rui interacting with men, coupled with her vixen-like aura, she had never doubted Jing Rui's sexual orientation.

The driver glanced at the rearview mirror; they were embracing.

The driver maintained a good attitude throughout the ride, trying to remain calm, but he still braked a bit too hard at a red light.

Chi Jia lurched forward, her lips accidentally landing on Jing Rui's.

Their eyes met, their lips still touching.

Still soft and fragrant, intoxicating.

Chi Jia pushed Jing Rui away as if she had been electrocuted, flustered, desperately trying to convey that it was just an accident, not that she actually wanted to kiss her.

Jing Rui stared at Chi Jia's flushed face for a moment, then smiled. "I also think it's quite comfortable."

"Jing Rui!!!" Chi Jia was about to explode, wanting to change the subject.

Jing Rui leaned back, no longer teasing her.

The night view outside the window was hazy and beautiful.

Chi Jia turned to look, hoping to go home, take a shower, sleep, and forget about this embarrassing incident.

But there was one thing she couldn't forget.

Although Chi Jia didn't want to talk to Jing Rui now, she still spoke up. "When are you giving me those villa projects?"

Having lost all her dignity tonight, Chi Jia desperately needed financial consolation.

"What villas?" Jing Rui leaned her head back against the seat, her tone and expression tired and languid.

Chi Jia's right eyelid twitched, a sense of unease creeping into her heart. "The three villas you promised."

"Where am I supposed to find three unfurnished villas on such short notice?"

"Surnamed Jing, are you playing me?! You..." Chi Jia felt the urge to strangle her. She had suffered a huge loss tonight. Why did she believe Jing Rui's words and even kiss the vixen in so many different ways?

Unconsciously, she was thinking about the kiss again.

"Be quiet." Jing Rui glanced at Chi Jia, annoyed by her noise. "I'll owe you for now. I didn't say I wouldn't give them to you."

Chi Jia felt slightly better, but still angry. She turned away from Jing Rui, sulking.

Through the car window, Chi Jia could vaguely see Jing Rui's profile.

They looked like a couple having a lovers' quarrel...

Chi Jia wanted to slap herself awake. What was she even thinking?

They arrived at her apartment building.

Before getting out of the car, Chi Jia warned Jing Rui, "Tonight's events… let's pretend they never happened. I was drunk."

"What events?"

Chi Jia clenched her fists. Fine, she couldn't win against Miss Jing. She forced a smile. "It's better that you don't remember, so you won't pester me later."

"Miss Chi, although I like women, I don't like every woman." Jing Rui looked at Chi Jia, then added, "You can rest assured about that."

Her gaze seemed to say: Don't worry, I'm not interested in you.

A complete change from before.

Chi Jia felt a surge of anger in her chest, suppressing her outburst.

When Jing Rui kissed her at the bar, she wasn't this cold and distant; her eyes and actions were filled with tenderness.

Chi Jia desperately wanted to ask Jing Rui, if you're not interested in me, why did you flirt with me?

There was a type of person in this world called a "scumbag," regardless of gender.

Wasn't Jing Rui just a female version of Jiang Shen? Chi Jia thought angrily, getting out of the car and slamming the door shut.

The night breeze was more refreshing than the air conditioning.

Walking into a 24-hour convenience store, Chi Jia bought an ice cream and slowly ate it.

Chi Jia didn't understand why she was so angry. Shouldn't she be happy that Jing Rui wasn't interested in her? Did she want to hear Jing Rui confess her love, and then have them entangled in a complicated relationship?

That would be even worse.

Ultimately, she just disliked Jing Rui. And after tonight's events, her dislike had intensified.

She was just drunk, a moment of madness, nothing more.

Chi Jia had been trying to convince herself of this ever since she got out of the car.

It made sense. If she hadn't been drunk, she would never have kissed Jing Rui.

Chi Jia took a bite of the ice cream, the sweet and creamy taste filling her mouth.

When she kissed Jing Rui, it felt similar, so soft and fragrant, especially when Jing Rui's soft tongue explored her mouth. At first, she had resisted, but then, her body went limp, only able to passively respond and even reciprocate.

Purely in terms of physical sensation, tonight's kiss with Jing Rui was Chi Jia's most unforgettable, most comfortable, and most lingering experience.

The ice cream in her hand started to melt, dripping onto her fingers, cold and icy.

Chi Jia snapped back to reality, realizing she was thinking about it again.

Some things were unsettling upon closer examination. For example, why did she feel something when kissing a woman?

After taking a shower, Chi Jia had almost completely sobered up.

She hadn't been truly drunk tonight, and she knew exactly what she had done.

Chi Jia rarely had trouble sleeping. Work was too tiring, and with her relatively carefree attitude, she wouldn't overthink things, always falling asleep quickly once she was in bed.

But tonight, Chi Jia couldn't sleep.

She stared blankly at the ceiling for an hour, unable to fall asleep.

After turning off the lights, it wasn't until almost dawn that Chi Jia finally fell asleep.

Daytime thoughts become nighttime dreams—it was true.

Recently, Jing Rui had been entering Chi Jia's dreams at an average frequency of once every two days.

That night, Chi Jia dreamt of Jing Rui again.

This time, it wasn't a nightmare about revisions, but more like… an erotic dream.

Chi Jia dreamt they were drinking at the bar. Afterwards, Jing Rui took her home, and because it was too late, Jing Rui stayed the night.

Then, the dream took a different turn...

As soon as they lay down in bed, Jing Rui started seducing her, and she eventually surrendered, kissing the vixen all night.

From dusk till dawn, an insatiable thirst.

When Chi Jia woke up, the Jing Rui in her arms had turned into a plush toy, deformed from her tight embrace.

It was daylight, noon.

Thankfully, it was her day off, so she could stay in bed.

The dream was still vivid in her mind. Chi Jia covered her face, embarrassed by the dream, questioning her sexual orientation after all these years.

As for Jing Rui, Chi Jia didn't want to see her.

Thankfully, after last week's efforts, the design proposal had been finalized.

Once the contract was signed, she wouldn't have to interact with Miss Jing anymore.

What a relief.

Recently, the girls in the break room had a new object of affection: the newly appointed project manager in the engineering department.

"Mr. Qin is so handsome~"

"I heard he's single."

"Just one glance from him, and I feel like I'm in love..."

"..."

All the eligible bachelors in the company—a quick trip to the break room during afternoon tea would reveal everything. Chi Jia occasionally joined in the gossip; if there was someone eye-catching, she also wanted to see.

"The new project manager is called Qin Dong?" Chi Jia interjected.

"Yeah, he's super handsome."

Could it be such a coincidence? Qin Dong was the guy Chi Jia had pursued during her junior year, but he had a girlfriend at the time and politely rejected her.

Chi Jia remembered it clearly because it was her first rejection.

But Qin Dong was a common name, perhaps it was just a coincidence, so Chi Jia didn't think much of it.

6:30 PM, Chi Jia clocked out. She was in a good mood today, having arranged to sign the renovation contract with Jing Rui tonight.

Once the contract was signed, it would be a done deal.

Tonight, her painful ordeal would finally come to an end.

Chi Jia entered the elevator. Just as the doors were about to close, she saw a figure approaching.

Out of courtesy, Chi Jia pressed the open button.

"Thank you." The man smiled politely.

"You're welcome..." Chi Jia looked up. It was Qin Dong, the senior she had once pursued.

"Chi Jia? You work here too?"

"Oh..." Chi Jia was also surprised. "I heard this afternoon that the new project manager is called Qin Dong, I didn't expect it to really be you."

"What a coincidence."

He was as handsome and charming as ever; no wonder the girls in the break room were going crazy over him.

"Want to have dinner together tonight? It's been a while since we last met."

"I have an appointment with a client to sign a contract later." Compared to dinner with Qin Dong, Chi Jia prioritized meeting Jing Rui; this contract couldn't have any more hiccups.

"Did you drive here?"

"No..." Chi Jia wanted to say she had just graduated and couldn't afford a car.

Qin Dong looked at the document folder in Chi Jia's hands. "I'll give you a ride."

"That... won't I be troubling you?"

"No, don't be so polite."

Although her confession had been rejected, Chi Jia didn't feel awkward around Qin Dong. She admired him; at least he was principled and not a player.

Chi Jia had arranged to meet Jing Rui at LEFT Coffee. She didn't stand on ceremony with Qin Dong, accepting the ride to avoid the crowded buses during rush hour.

LEFT wasn't far from AS, but the traffic was a bit heavy.

Half an hour later, the car stopped by the roadside.

"Thank you..." Just as Chi Jia was about to get out, her hair seemed to be caught on something.

"Don't move, I'll help you." Qin Dong leaned over to help Chi Jia with her hair, their posture intimate.

Her hair was untangled, but Qin Dong still didn't move away. Chi Jia met his gaze, their eyes locking.

She seemed to have guessed what was about to happen.

A woman's intuition was always accurate.

Qin Dong kissed her.

While Chi Jia was debating whether to close her eyes and whether to resist, she was already being kissed...

His lips were slightly dry and rough, the scratch of his stubble against her skin… Chi Jia suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

As soon as their lips touched, she abruptly pushed Qin Dong away.

The atmosphere turned incredibly awkward.

Meeting Qin Dong again, Chi Jia still had favorable feelings towards him; he was, after all, her ideal type. But when he touched her, she felt repulsed.

"I'm sorry, I was impulsive..."

"It's okay..." Chi Jia eagerly got out of the car. "Thank you for the ride."

"Xiao Jia... can I have your contact information?"

Chi Jia replied awkwardly, "Maybe next time."

Jing Rui arrived at LEFT before Chi Jia.

Chi Jia hurried into the café. The vixen was sitting on the long sofa by the entrance, calmly sipping her coffee, the picture of elegance.

"Miss Jing, if everything's alright, let's sign the renovation contract today." Chi Jia sat down next to Jing Rui, taking out the contract from her folder as she spoke. She tried to avoid looking directly at Jing Rui's face; after that night, she didn't know how to face her.

Every time Chi Jia looked at Jing Rui's face, her gaze would involuntarily fall on her lips, then she would remember that night...

Some things, the more you tried to forget, the more you remembered.

"No problem." Jing Rui's straightforward reply put Chi Jia at ease.

"I need to take a call first." Chi Jia took out her vibrating phone; it was an unknown number. She stood up and found a quiet corner to answer.

Jing Rui looked down at the contract. "Okay."

"Xiao Jia, you finally answered my call." Jiang Shen's voice came from the other end. "Can you give me another chance? I still can't forget you."

"Are you ever going to stop?" Jiang Shen had also tried to contact her at the company. Chi Jia thought she had made herself clear enough, but he was now calling from a different number.

"Just let me see you one last time. Let's talk face to face, just once, so I can give up. I'm coming over now..." He probably hoped to rekindle their old feelings upon seeing her.

Chi Jia looked out the window and saw Jiang Shen approaching the café.

Chi Jia immediately hung up, returning to the sofa, distracted.

"All signed." Jing Rui put down her pen, smiling at Chi Jia. "Satisfied now?"

Once again, Chi Jia looked into Jing Rui's eyes.

Beautiful enough to make even a woman's heart flutter.

Jiang Shen was walking towards her. A bold idea suddenly came to Chi Jia's mind.

After staring at Jing Rui for a few seconds, Chi Jia leaned in and captured her lips.

Kissing her...

"Mmm..." Jing Rui was startled at first, then instinctively responded before pulling away. "What are you doing?"

"Wanting to take advantage back, is that not allowed?" Chi Jia cupped Jing Rui's face in her hands, her skin smooth and delicate, almost slipping through her fingers. And her fragrance, so alluring.

Her heart was racing.

Gazing into Chi Jia's eyes, Jing Rui leaned closer, her voice seductive. "Don't regret this later."

Chi Jia closed her eyes, closing the distance between them, kissing Jing Rui forcefully.

Soon, there was a response.

As their tongues intertwined, Chi Jia could no longer tell whether she was putting on a show for Jiang Shen or genuinely wanted to kiss Jing Rui...
