Chapter 250

Most of the monsters in the Dark World had been imprisoned here by the Dark God during the Age of Gods. As time passed, some fell into a deep slumber, while others’ strength gradually weakened. But no matter how weak they became, their massive bodies alone were enough to give them an advantage.

The monsters of the Dark World had once battled gods. Wolf Fang's status as a general of the Dark God was not enough to make them fear her.

This chaotic battle was definitely the most earth-shattering fight Erin had ever witnessed. The massive bodies of the monsters collided, shaking the ground beneath her feet. The sky above was completely obscured by a black storm, the vortex having vanished. Winds howled, mountains crumbled, and the earth split, as if the entire plane was about to collapse in the next second.

Erin stood within the barrier Wolf Fang had set up, clinging tightly to a summoned skeleton to steady herself. A giant boulder smashed against the barrier and rolled aside. Erin bit her lip, trying her best to search for Wolf Fang's figure in the darkness.

But compared to the other monsters, Wolf Fang's form was simply too small, making her search difficult.

In the Dark World, it wasn't just Eros who held a grudge against Wolf Fang; nearly all the monsters were extremely dissatisfied with her. This person had suddenly entered the Dark World five thousand years ago and plundered all the Dark Stones, enraging the monsters that relied on them for survival. However, because she had always stayed in the temple left behind by the Dark God to suppress the monsters, they were resentful but helpless.

When the Dark God created the Dark World, some of her divine power became the temple that suppressed the monsters and prevented them from tearing through space to escape. The rest of her power transformed into Dark Stones. The monsters needed to absorb the divine power within the Dark Stones to stabilize their gradually dissipating soul forms, preventing their strength from weakening too quickly.

Wolf Fang's actions had provoked public outrage, and many monsters had been forced into slumber because their power faded too rapidly.

The vortex leading to the Statu Continent had been sealed from the other side. The monsters' attention now focused entirely on Wolf Fang. More and more monsters awoke from their slumber and joined the battlefield. She had drawn so much of their hatred that they had forgotten Erin's existence.

Erin watched Wolf Fang, who was surrounded by monsters and only occasionally visible, feeling anxious. Outside the barrier, several smaller and weaker monsters circled. Unable to join the main battle, they saw that Erin was protected only by a single barrier and gathered around, attempting to shatter it.

A black demonic dragon flew over and knocked away the monsters near the barrier. Eros breathed a mouthful of dragon's breath at them. A black mist froze the fleeing monsters in place. The demonic dragon shattered them with its tail and said angrily, "Stay away from my food."

Eros cleared away the monsters near the barrier, then circled it twice. Under Erin's wary gaze, it shattered the barrier with a single swipe of its tail.

After the barrier broke, the violent and chaotic aura rushed toward Erin, no longer obstructed, threatening to tear her apart. Eros froze for a moment, then quickly coiled its tail around Erin and lifted her onto its back.

The demonic dragon's scales were cold and hard. Erin couldn't help but shiver as she sat on them. A black barrier enveloped her. Eros glanced at Wolf Fang, who was trapped in battle and unable to escape, snorted coldly, and flew off in the opposite direction of the battlefield, its head held high.

Erin sat on the demonic dragon's back, a little dazed. She hadn't yet recognized Eros as the little demonic dragon, but she could feel a familiar aura from it. She turned her head, trying to find Wolf Fang, but suddenly saw something that made her eyes widen in an instant.

"...Th-there's a monster behind us!" Erin patted the dragon's back forcefully, her voice panicked. "Fly faster!"

Compared to the sound of the wind, Erin's voice was far too quiet. Eros turned its head in confusion. Before it could even locate Erin on its back, its vision suddenly went dark. The sound of the wind and the clamor vanished, and an abnormal silence fell upon its ears.

Eros knew this was bad, but a sudden feeling of weightlessness struck. It tightly wrapped its tail around Erin, and without even a chance to struggle, it plummeted downward with a whoosh.

Wolf Fang had noticed when Eros broke the barrier, but it took her a little longer to shake off the monsters. By the time she arrived, she saw the exact moment Eros and Erin were devoured by the Moon Beast.

The Moon Beast's name contained the word "moonlight," but in reality, it had nothing to do with moonlight. It was somewhat similar to the monster disguised as a cave that Erin had first encountered, only taller, larger, and wider. When it slept, it disguised itself as a continuous mountain range, occupying nearly a third of the Dark World's land.

The moment the Moon Beast awoke, the monsters that had been fiercely battling Wolf Fang all stopped their pursuit and retreated warily. Some, feeling afraid, had already turned and fled. In the darkness, a "mountain peak" swayed its body, its tip tilting downward as if intending to return to its slumber.

Wolf Fang floated in mid-air, her expression grim. Rona and the others also broke free from their opponents and came to Wolf Fang's side, saying with grave faces, "The Moon Beast..."

The Moon Beast was one of the most troublesome of the first batch of monsters sealed in the Dark World by the Dark God. Its body was several thousand meters long. It loved to devour things and feared the light. Its skin, as hard as a cliff face, was immune to all powers of darkness.

Anything that entered its stomach rarely had a chance to escape.

Rona clutched a few brightly colored mushrooms in her hand, uncertain what to do. She could only turn to look at Wolf Fang beside her.

She had watched Erin grow up. Setting aside her complicated relationship with Wolf Fang, Rona couldn't bear to just give up and let Erin wait for death inside the Moon Beast's stomach.

Wolf Fang was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, "You all stand guard outside." With that, her figure flashed, flying like a bolt of lightning toward the not-yet-asleep Moon Beast.

Wolf Fang's aura was powerful. Though her form was small, it still made the Moon Beast extremely wary. The "mountain peak" stopped its downward tilt and slowly split open its cliff face, intending to swallow her. Wolf Fang's eyes turned cold, and without any hesitation, she leaped directly into the cracked fissure.

The expected attack never came. The enemy had simply allowed itself to be devoured, which stunned the Moon Beast for a moment. It swayed its peak, then continued to tilt downward, transforming back into an ordinary mountain range.

The Moon Beast was enormous, and the space inside its stomach was equally vast, like a small plane. Protected by Eros, Erin was unharmed despite falling from a great height. The ground beneath her feet was uneven and full of potholes. There were mountains, trees, and water around her. She couldn't see a moon above, but eerie green orbs of light floated in the air. If Erin hadn't seen them get swallowed by the monster with her own eyes, she would have thought she had fallen into another, unfamiliar plane.

After falling to the ground, Eros lay there motionless. After surveying her surroundings, Erin saw that the demonic dragon hadn't moved at all. She paused, then cautiously approached to see if it was still alive.

She walked around to the front of the dragon's head, took a small step back, and looked up at its face. Eros silently turned its head away, looking listless. Even its eyes had lost their luster.

"...Are you okay?" Erin tentatively reached out and patted the dragon's claw, forcing herself to ask, "How do we get out of here?"

Eros's dejected mood filled Erin with a bad premonition.

"Get out?" Eros rested its head on its claws and said dejectedly, "We can't get out."

"We're going to be here until we die." Eros paused after speaking, then seemed to think of something and became even more depressed. "But I can't die."

Erin: "..."

As a human fragile enough to die easily, Erin looked at the seemingly heartbroken demonic dragon, unsure whether to lament her own fate or comfort Eros.

She sighed, wrapped her cloak tighter around herself, and glanced around. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a black bear walking in the distance. She froze for a second, rubbed her eyes, and asked in confusion, "...Are there other monsters living in here?"

This place really seemed like a plane, not a monster's stomach.

Eros transformed into a small demonic dragon and jumped onto Erin's head, replying listlessly, "Some weaker monsters live here. Staying inside the Moon Beast's stomach makes them feel safe."

The moment it turned into a small demonic dragon, its identity was exposed. Erin's lips parted slightly. She reached up, grabbed the little dragon, and said with wide eyes, "It's you?"

Eros curled into a ball in her hand, turning its head to look at her sleeve, pretending not to know what she was talking about.

Erin was a little angry. She lifted the small dragon, and just as she was about to say something, an arm suddenly reached out. The arm's owner snatched the little dragon from Erin's hand and casually tossed it aside.

Wolf Fang expressionlessly wiped her hands with a handkerchief, then reached out and pulled Erin over, looking her up and down to see if she was injured.

Wolf Fang's appearance was a pleasant surprise for Erin, but the way she was held and carefully inspected made Erin a little uncomfortable. Her gaze shifted slightly as she whispered, "I'm not hurt."

Wolf Fang paused, then slowly released her and said flatly, "I was just taking a quick look." She fell silent for a moment before adding, "Don't get the wrong idea."

The wrong idea? Erin was confused. "The wrong idea about what?"

"...Nothing." Where Erin couldn't see, Wolf Fang pinched her own fingers. She wanted to say something but, fearing she would say something ridiculous again, she decided to change the subject. "We're inside the Moon Beast's stomach now. It might take some time to get out."

Erin's eyes lit up. "We can get out?" She couldn't help but move closer and grab Wolf Fang's arm, waiting expectantly for her answer.

Wolf Fang glanced down at Erin's hand, then looked away and grunted in affirmation.

Getting a positive answer from Wolf Fang brightened Erin's gloomy mood considerably. She let out a long breath. "That demonic dragon told me we could only wait here to die. I thought..."

She thought she would be trapped here for the rest of her life.

At the mention of Eros, Wolf Fang's tone turned cold. "It can indeed only wait here to die."

Eros had just flown back when it heard Wolf Fang's words. Its anger flared, and it whipped its thick tail toward Wolf Fang, saying hatefully, "You're the one who's going to wait here to die!"

"This Dark Stone is mine, so get lost." Eros tried to snatch Erin away from Wolf Fang's side.

Wolf Fang frowned, raising her arm to block Eros's tail. Her arm slid down, her sharp nails digging deep into its scales. The demonic dragon yelped in pain, tumbling in the air, and opened its mouth to blast Wolf Fang with dragon's breath.

Seeing them start to fight, Erin warily ran to the side. She summoned a skeleton to protect herself, her gaze darting between Wolf Fang and the demonic dragon. Seeing the dragon constantly trying to break through Wolf Fang's defense to get to her, she couldn't help but shout in her own defense, "I'm not a Dark Stone, I'm a human! You've got the wrong person."

She had been alive for over twenty years; how could she be a stone?

The demonic dragon's body paused in mid-air, giving Wolf Fang the opportunity to grab it and give it a sound beating. While dodging Wolf Fang's attacks, the dragon stared at Erin in amazement, saying incredulously, "A human?"

"Impossible. How can you be a human? We all peeked. The Dark Stones in the temple look exactly like you."

Eros's words made Wolf Fang's expression change slightly. She pursed her lips, and her figure in the air gradually elongated, transforming into a gray, otherworldly beast. The beast pounced fiercely at the demonic dragon, its sharp claws tearing viciously at its scales. It seemed to be acting out of anger and embarrassment as it said coldly, "Shut up."

In her beast form, Wolf Fang's combat power was extraordinary. Eros didn't dare to be careless and had to focus its mind on dealing with her.

Erin watched them fight again, silently commanding her skeleton to retreat several dozen meters. What Eros had just said kept replaying in her mind.

Temple... Dark Stone... exactly alike... Erin touched her chin. What did that mean?
