Chapter 161

After getting what she wanted from the Darkness Temple, Noah honored her promise. Upon leaving the forbidden area, she had Vera send Erin away from Witch City.

Noah departed in a grand procession with the Garcia witches, completely satisfied. Erin watched their retreating figures with a dark expression, her heart filled with apprehension and unease. What had Noah taken from the red statue inside the Darkness Temple?

And why had she returned the Dark Key to her?

As Erin stared blankly after Noah and the others, Vera stood motionless beside her, watching her. Suddenly, a gray shadow caught the corner of her eye. She glanced down to see Little Fur Ball squeezing out from within the forbidden area's barrier, looking up for Erin.

"...Your pet," Vera pointed to Little Fur Ball and said to Erin in a low voice.

Erin froze for a moment, then turned her head and subconsciously touched her hood. It was, as expected, flat.

Little Fur Ball was so light that Erin often didn't notice when it slipped away.

Normally, she would check on Little Fur Ball's presence from time to time, but this time, with all her attention focused on Noah, she had completely forgotten about it.

Just as Erin turned around, Little Fur Ball spotted her. It scurried over to Erin's feet on its short legs, and she bent down, scooped it up, and tucked it into her sleeve.

A pet that could freely enter and exit the forbidden area. Vera's gaze lingered on Little Fur Ball for a moment. Only after Erin had put it away did she come to her senses and say, "I'll see you out."

Although she was curious about Little Fur Ball's identity, she didn't press the matter.

Erin had always been special, even as a child. She could always do things others couldn't. Vera had always believed that if Erin were willing to focus on studying dark magic, she would surely become the youngest red-robed witch in the Anderson family.

As soon as Little Fur Ball was back in her sleeve, it fell asleep again. Erin held its paw, and her fluttering heart gradually settled. She lowered her head and followed behind Vera.

The forbidden area was some distance from the entrance of Witch City, and Vera was taking Erin out via a different path. Therefore, neither of them knew that a fierce battle was raging at the entrance, all because of Erin.

Ever since Vera had apologized to Erin and not been forgiven, she had become even more silent than before. Perhaps knowing that Erin disliked her, she didn't initiate any conversation on the way out, not wanting to be a nuisance.

It was Erin who, after holding back for a while, couldn't resist asking, "...What exactly did Elder Noah take from the forbidden area?"

Vera glanced at her. Just when Erin thought she would remain silent, she actually answered, "It's the key to summon the Dark God."

"What?"

Erin was stunned. She took out the Dark Key Noah had returned to her and looked at it.

Could the one in her hand be a fake?

While Erin was still puzzled, Vera took the initiative to explain, "Elder Noah said this Dark Key doesn't belong to the Garcia."

Erin frowned. She put the Dark Key away and was about to ask something else when Vera, who was walking ahead, suddenly stopped.

She stopped so abruptly that Erin almost bumped into her. "Vera?"

Vera's body went limp and she slumped to the side. Erin instinctively reached out to catch her, and they both fell to the ground together.

"Vera?" Erin turned Vera over and found she had fainted. As she stared in shock, a familiar voice suddenly sounded by her ear, making her heart tremble. "Noah, that little liar. I told her to send you to me, but she dared to deceive me."

"If I hadn't been careful, you would have slipped away right under my nose." Glanna appeared from nowhere, stroking Erin's hair as she spoke softly, "A mother-daughter reunion. Shouldn't you be happy?"

Erin slapped her hand away and glared at her hatefully, her voice cold and filled with suppressed rage. "What do you want, Glanna?"

"Glanna?" Glanna was a little displeased with this form of address. She pouted, but seeing Erin's fuming expression, she smiled again. "Don't be angry. I just want to show you something interesting."

Erin didn't believe a word Glanna said. She slipped her hand into her sleeve, touching Little Fur Ball, just in case Glanna made a sudden move against her.

Glanna paid no mind to Erin's guarded posture. She waved a hand in front of her, and black energy surged from all around, coalescing into a black mist a few steps away from them. An image flickered faintly within the mist.

Erin didn't want to look, but her gaze was involuntarily drawn to it. The image in the mist was chaotic. At first, she could only make out the red-robed witches inside.

These were all elders of the Anderson family.

Who could possibly make Glanna dispatch so many elders to deal with them? Puzzled, Erin observed the image in the mist more carefully, and finally, she saw who the red-robed witches were fighting.

A skeleton with its own consciousness, an elegant yet powerful fourth-generation vampire, a beautiful proprietress commanding giant, brightly colored mushrooms in battle... and some other "non-humans" with strange but extremely powerful fighting styles.

Erin recognized the skeleton and the proprietress. Although she had never seen the silver-haired vampire, she had heard about them from Tang Qiu. These were the people from Mark's Grocery Store.

How did they get to Witch City...

As if sensing Erin's confusion, Glanna suddenly let out a soft laugh. "They're here to save you."

"Is it strange?" Glanna bent down slightly, pinching Erin's chin to make her look up. She said with amusement, "If they hadn't been hiding your tracks all this time, do you really think I couldn't find you?"

"When will you become a little more perceptive?" Glanna sighed. "Why is my daughter, Glanna's daughter, so foolish?"

Erin frowned and tried to push Glanna's hand away, but this time she failed. Glanna's hand moved to the back of Erin's neck, grabbing her. She whispered, "Do you know who they are?"

Erin turned her head away, unwilling to meet Glanna's gaze or speak to her.

Glanna let out a low laugh and said to herself, "I don't think you do."

"They are demons from the Dark World. Surprising, isn't it?"

"The Dark World... the legendary private garden of the Dark God. To think demons would come all the way to the Statu Continent just to protect you." Glanna clicked her tongue, her gaze on Erin extremely strange. "Surprising things always happen around you."

Erin was somewhat bewildered by everything Glanna said. She had many questions of her own, but since the person before her was Glanna, she had no desire to ask her for answers.

"I won't help you with those experiments anymore. It's useless even if you lock me up," Erin said coldly, breaking free from Glanna's grasp.

Glanna smiled at her, raised her index finger, and wagged it. "I just said, I only want to show you something interesting."

"I hate these people who interfere with our mother-daughter reunion, so I've prepared some gifts for them."

As her voice fell, the sound of heavy panting suddenly filled the air nearby. Eerie green eyes flickered in the thin white mist. Huge bodies, low growls rumbling in their throats, and a powerful, oppressive aura caused the surrounding pressure to drop to a freezing point.

"How is this possible..." Erin stared in disbelief at the "beasts" appearing around them, swallowing nervously.

One of the "beasts" walked to Glanna's side and lowered its body slightly. Glanna stroked the "beast's" neck and said to Erin with a smile, "See? My most satisfying masterpiece."

"This is our werewolf army."

Erin glanced around. There were at least a hundred werewolves emerging from the white mist, and she didn't know if this was all of them... The entire Wolf Race only had a few thousand members.

Compared to real werewolves, these were inferior products. They lacked the pure white or gray fur of werewolves; their fur was a mottled mix of colors, and their pupils were just like those of wild beasts, devoid of humanity and filled only with savage ferocity.

Although they were inferior products, given the innate strength of werewolves, it was no problem at all to call them outstanding works.

After leaving the forbidden area, Noah led her clan and rushed to the wilderness without stopping. Along the way, a witch came to report that outsiders had broken into Witch City and were being surrounded by the Andersons. Upon hearing this, she merely frowned and paid it no mind.

The Dark Formation in the wilderness had been prepared by Noah and her clan long ago. She had been planning everything since before leaking the news of the Divine Ruins' appearance. Now, it was finally time for her to reap the fruits of her labor.

Before welcoming the Dark God, let darkness first descend upon the Statu Continent. It was the duty of their Garcia family to clear all obstacles for the Dark God.

Noah caressed the long box she had obtained from the forbidden area. Thinking of its contents, the corners of her mouth curled up slightly. She carefully stored the box in her Space Gem, scanned the surrounding mountain of corpses, and then took out the Godhead she had obtained from the Earth Mother's palace.

The witches who were moving the bodies all stopped their work when they saw Noah and her group appear, commanding the skeletons to clear a path.

As Noah walked through them, the ground beneath her feet suddenly churned and turned into a blood-red swamp. The Dark Formation that had been buried deep underground slowly emerged. As the bloody streams swirled, terrifying and hideous human faces flashed within them for an instant.

Tang Qiu, who had been hiding nearby and observing the situation, found an even more distant hiding spot to avoid revealing her identity when Noah and the others appeared.

She had already used every item she possessed to conceal her aura, and it was effective. No one had discovered her yet.

Just as Tang Qiu found a new hiding spot, the Dark Formation manifested over there. The powerful dark energy forced her to retreat a few more steps before she could breathe easily again.

Although the distance was great, a werewolf's vision is superior. Tang Qiu squinted, staring at Noah, who stood at the very front, her thoughts unreadable.

After the Dark Formation appeared, the humans piled up nearby were ensnared by chains formed from blood and water, and dragged into the swamp. The screams were endless. Even Tang Qiu, far away, was moved, but the Black Witches in the midst of the screams remained completely calm, as if there was no difference between the tragic cries and the sound of flowing water.

Tang Qiu frowned as she watched, sharp claws already emerging from her hands hanging at her sides.
