Princess Syndrome - Chapter 35

35: Warm the Bed

Chapter 35: Warm the Bed

Perhaps only the people involved would have such a direct understanding of the situation.

In the beginning, Su Lingyue had really thought that Ji Zhiyi had come to take revenge on her. Transferring her to the secretary’s office to be an assistant, going to negotiate with Yang Zhizhi, and using her to vent her anger on Yang Zhizhi. She thought this was Ji Zhiyi’s revenge.

At most...

It was a more gentle revenge, one with good manners.

But later on, she gradually understood.

Actually, Ji Zhiyi wasn't trying to take revenge on her at all.

Ji Zhiyi looked at Su Lingyue.

Their eyes met. Su Lingyue said, "President Ji, you don’t hate me. But you let everyone believe that you do because you wanted to use me to attract Su Qi’s attention."

She lowered her head: "I’m going to sign the contract. Yang Zhizhi will definitely make things difficult for me. She won’t sign a contract with me so quickly. What you want is for me to drag it out for some time."

Enough time to attract Su Qi.

Zhou Shiyu was naturally suspicious. If she just signed a spokesperson, then Zhou Shiyu wouldn't pay too much attention. But this spokesperson was someone Ji Zhiyi was willing to pay a high price for, and would even have Su Lingyue apologize, all for the sake of signing this artist.

Moreover, the artist's brother was the sales director of Baoshun.

With those conditions, there was no reason for Zhou Shiyu to be uninterested.

However, there were still some things she didn't understand.

Su Lingyue asked Ji Zhiyi, "Aren't you afraid that Yang Zhizhi will be signed by Su Qi?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "I’m not."

Su Lingyue asked, "You’re that confident?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "In competitive bidding, the highest bidder wins. As long as I offer a higher price than Su Qi, then I have nothing to worry about."

Su Lingyue was confused: "What you want is Baoshun, right? Then why are you investing so much into Yang Zhizhi?"

Ji Zhiyi looked at her deeply.

She said, "Do you know Lin Fei?"

Su Lingyue said, "Of course I do."

She had spent all day looking at Lin Fei's news.

Did this matter have something to do with Lin Fei?

Su Lingyue frowned.

Ji Zhiyi said, "Lin Fei will terminate her contract with Su Qi at 9 am tomorrow."

Su Lingyue suddenly understood, "Today’s news, was it you who leaked it?"

She had said that the news today clearly showed that someone was targeting Su Qi. She had also suspected Ji Zhiyi, but Ji Zhiyi and Lin Fei had no contact. So it was just a suspicion.

Ji Zhiyi admitted: "I leaked it."

Not only was she the one who set the stage for today’s drama, there was another important scene tomorrow.

From her words, Su Lingyue seemed to have pieced together some information, "So from the very beginning, you weren't going for Yang Zhizhi. You were going for Lin Fei?"

Ji Zhiyi looked at her and didn't speak.

It was as if she was waiting for her to sort her thoughts out.

Su Lingyue shook her head: "No, that's wrong."

"From the very beginning, you were going for Baoshun, and Su Qi."

Ji Zhiyi nodded: "You can say that."

This chess game was too big. Should she praise Ji Zhiyi for being too meticulous, or laugh at her for being too daring? If any of the links in the plan had any problems, then her entire plan would be ruined.

This person was too calculating.

Su Lingyue bit her lip.

She finally sorted everything out. She asked, "Will this be able to bring Su Qi down?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "No."

Her answer was very straightforward.

Su Lingyue also felt like she was dreaming.

It was just a collaboration. She had actually fantasized about using it to bring Su Qi down, but...she looked at Ji Zhiyi. Her palms suddenly broke out in sweat. The nervousness that she hadn’t felt for many years made her heart contract. She clenched her hand and asked, "Can I bring Su Qi down if you continue to use me?"

Ji Zhiyi lowered her eyes.

Su Lingyue said, "Continue to use me. As long as I can bring Su Qi down, you can use me however you want."

Ji Zhiyi looked at her, "Is that so?"

Su Lingyue’s calm expression had a hint of desperation, "Yes."

Ji Zhiyi said, "Can you accept any method?"

After saying that, she moved closer to Su Lingyue.

A faint fragrance drifted to the tip of her nose. Ji Zhiyi was too close to her. She could see Ji Zhiyi's long, clearly defined eyelashes, her pale skin, her straight nose bridge, and those eyes.

Like an abyss. They were dark and profound.

Su Lingyue said, "What methods do you want?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "That depends on Assistant Su's sincerity."

She stared at Su Lingyue. Her gaze was intense. Su Lingyue’s hands clenched tightly, her nails digging into her palms. Her profile was tense, and her body was stiff. She didn't move, looking at Ji Zhiyi's face. She asked, "Do you want me to warm your bed?"

That one sentence almost made Ji Zhiyi's composure falter.

She asked, "Didn’t you say you could accept any method?"

That was what she had said.

Su Lingyue gritted her teeth, "Except for that."

Ji Zhiyi moved away slightly. There was a gap between them. It was as if Su Lingyue had breathed in fresh air and calmed down. She heard Ji Zhiyi say, "Okay, then let's change the method."

Su Lingyue asked, "What method?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "Tomorrow Zhang Xian will be checking out a new processing plant. You follow her. Buy it under your name."

Su Lingyue was surprised: "Me? I don't have any money."

Ji Zhiyi said, "I'll pay for it."

Su Lingyue said, "Why me?"

Ji Zhiyi was honest, "To be honest, my goal isn’t Su Qi."

Su Lingyue looked up at her.

So that meant that if she hadn't asked to be used, she wouldn't have made a move on Su Qi?

Su Lingyue’s face was tense.

Ji Zhiyi said, "But I can teach you how to bring it down."

Su Lingyue looked up, her eyes shining. She didn't agree immediately. Instead, she asked, "Why teach me?"

Ji Zhiyi explained, "You're right, I don't hate you at all."

She paused, "Is this...compensation?"

That was way too big of a gift!

Su Lingyue suddenly felt unworthy. Ji Zhiyi saw her concern and said, "You don’t need to feel like you’re getting a big bargain. At best, we're collaborators right now. If you bring down Su Qi, it won't hurt me at all. Moreover, buying a processing plant is a burden for you. Right now, you need to gamble whether that burden will crush you, or will crush Su Qi."

Ji Zhiyi’s tone was calm, "What do you say? Do you dare to gamble?"

If it had been anyone else, Su Lingyue might have considered it, but it was Ji Zhiyi.

Her tone was certain, "I dare to gamble."

Ji Zhiyi said, "Okay, but at the company..."

"I know. At the company, you want me to continue pretending that you hate me." Su Lingyue said, "I know what to do."

She seemed to have grasped the situation. She was just smart, yet also not smart. Ji Zhiyi nodded.

There was a light in Su Lingyue's eyes.

She suddenly felt that she was laughable.

She leaned back on the sofa, curling up into a ball. Ji Zhiyi tilted her head. Su Lingyue caught her movement and asked, "President Ji, after telling me all of this, are you really not afraid that I’m a spy sent by Su Qi?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "I’m not."

Su Lingyue was confused: "Don't you think I'm being ridiculous?"

Ji Zhiyi: "No."

Su Lingyue turned her head to look at Ji Zhiyi.

This person.

She frowned: "You have that much faith in your own judgment?"

Ji Zhiyi looked at her calmly, "I believe in you."

Su Lingyue: ...

She was speechless for a moment.

She muttered, "You're really so trusting."

Ji Zhiyi was still looking at her. Su Lingyue's face was slightly hot, and she asked, "Why are you looking at me?"

Ji Zhiyi said, "I want to drink some water."

Su Lingyue very consciously stood up, preparing to go to the kitchen, but she paused. Then, she returned, stood in front of Ji Zhiyi, and said, "I think we should talk about our current relationship."

Ji Zhiyi's throat tightened.

She looked at Su Lingyue: "Tell me."

Su Lingyue said, "You just said that we're collaborators right now."

Without waiting for Ji Zhiyi to speak,

She continued, "At least, privately, we're collaborators."

Ji Zhiyi nodded, "You can say that."

Su Lingyue plopped back down on the sofa, curled up, and didn't move. Ji Zhiyi was still waiting for her to say the next sentence, but Su Lingyue didn't move. She said, "If you want to drink water, get it yourself."

Ji Zhiyi: ...

Okay.

She’d get it herself.

Ji Zhiyi pursed her lips and smiled. She got up and went to the kitchen. The calico cat followed behind her and bounced onto the bar counter. Ji Zhiyi took two bottles of water. The cat was curious and wanted to squeeze into the refrigerator, its paw constantly scratching at the door. Ji Zhiyi pulled its paw out and slapped it lightly.

Su Lingyue turned her head and happened to see her scolding the cat.

She frowned.

She was trying to stop herself from thinking that Ji Zhiyi was gentle.

But that thought was persistent. She even thought Ji Zhiyi’s action of picking up the cat and putting it on the ground was elegant and gentle.

She covered her forehead with her hand.

A figure walked over. Ji Zhiyi stood beside her and handed her a bottle of water. Su Lingyue, looking at her actions, suddenly felt that she had been a bit stingy for not going to get her water.

As she was thinking,

Ji Zhiyi asked, "Do you want it?"

Su Lingyue took it from her, opened the cap, and feigned calmness, "Thanks."

After saying that, she took a sip.

Then she looked at the bottle.

She asked Ji Zhiyi, "Do you like to drink this beverage?"

Zhang Xian had said that her hobbies hadn't changed, so it was probably something that had been liked for a long time.

Ji Zhiyi said, "It's alright, why?"

Su Lingyue said, "Nothing, I just thought about when you gave me..."

Ji Zhiyi choked.

She coughed. Su Lingyue tilted her head to look at her. Ji Zhiyi’s face was probably flushed from coughing. Her eyes were watery, and she didn’t have her capable and decisive demeanor, making her look very charming. Su Lingyue was still looking at her: "What’s wrong?"

Ji Zhiyi recovered, "You still remember that."

Su Lingyue was baffled: "Of course I do, I don't have amnesia."

Ji Zhiyi: ...

You’d be better off if you had amnesia.

Her cheeks were slightly hot. She got up and said, "I'm going to wash up."

Su Lingyue gave an "oh" and watched her retreating figure. Then she took a sip of the sweet and sour flavored soda.

It was quite addictive.

She drank half the bottle and returned to her room. The cat followed her and jumped on the bed. Su Lingyue showered and then lay down beside it. She placed it on her belly and listened to its purring, feeling comfortable and at ease.

Once she relaxed, she started to overthink.

She thought of the collaboration that Ji Zhiyi had mentioned.

Of the processing plant that she would be buying tomorrow.

Of her making all those decisions that seemed so ridiculous to everyone else.

Finally, she suddenly thought of Ji Zhiyi getting closer to her, and asking, "Didn't you say you could accept anything?"

What method was she referring to?

Warming the bed?

Su Lingyue bit her lip, her ears slowly warming up. She touched them. They were hotter than her fingertips.

She was really overthinking.

She closed her eyes and hugged the cat.

She rolled over, but she couldn't fall asleep.

She heard footsteps outside the door, guessing that Ji Zhiyi had finished washing up. She instinctively lifted the blanket and covered herself, burying her face in the pillow.

The cat meowed quietly in her arms.

It was as if it had startled her heart.

In the darkness,

She heard her heartbeat getting faster for no reason.

One beat after another.

It was deafening.
