S-Class Dungeon’s Mistress - Chapter 184

Chapter 184

Chapter 184

"How dare that filthy angel..."

Uriel muttered in a fierce voice as she rose from her seat. Judging by her contorted expression, she hadn't anticipated Pia's ability to purify the undead.

The demons of Greenville were equally surprised. They had brought Pia along merely to heal potential injuries—who could have known she possessed such power?

But there was no time for amazement. Adelaide leaped forward the moment Pia called out to her. Thanks to the holy power that had dissolved the corpses, the path to Uriel lay wide open.

Clang!

Adelaide and Uriel's swords collided in mid-air with a clear ring.

Uriel had already drawn her wings and massive weapon. Gone was her smug smile, replaced by a look of bewilderment. With her necromancy now restricted, maintaining her earlier composure would prove difficult.

Their blades continued to clash. Adelaide unleashed attacks on Uriel while freely moving between ground and air.

Faced with the fierce sword strikes, Uriel furrowed her brow and quickly deflected them. Though she had intended to deal with the interfering angel first, the succubus proved unexpectedly powerful, demanding her full attention. Whenever she tried to use her divine powers, Adelaide would uncannily find an opening. Frustrated by the constant interruptions, Uriel clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"If you're so eager to die, fine. I'll deal with you first."

Adelaide responded to Uriel's threat with a smile. She who would tremble before mere shamans, Shuville, or golems now showed unmatched confidence before one of the strongest demons.

It would be a lie to say she wasn't nervous at all, but she refused to show weakness before Uriel.

'I can do this. I've trained hard for this moment.'

Adelaide took a small breath as she adjusted her grip on her sword. As her hot breath dispersed into the air, an intense battle between the two dungeon lords began.

As the two women swung their swords and beat their wings across the sky, their black and white hair fluttered gracefully. Though their movements appeared light, the energy radiating from them was immense. Thunderous vibrations continued to shake the entire dungeon.

While thoroughly protecting Greenville's demons from the intense demonic energy and undead attacks, Lisianthus never took his eyes off Adelaide. His golden eyes rippled intensely each time a new cut appeared on her skin.

"Kugh...!"

Adelaide took a step back while gripping her sword tightly.

Uriel was far stronger than she had anticipated. Though Adelaide had grown considerably stronger herself—now capable of easily defeating demons of Shawarma's level—the battle with Uriel was far from easy.

'She must be at least an high-ranking demon. Why was she known only as a greater demon?'

Adelaide frowned as she coldly observed Uriel.

"You charged in so confidently. Seems you're finally grasping reality."

Uriel sneered as she spoke.

Due to her beautiful appearance and gender, she often heard whispers that she gained power solely through Abaddon's backing. How ridiculous. Only those ignorant of how difficult it was to maintain an A-rank dungeon lord position for hundreds of years would say such things.

She had claimed Los Halde through her abilities alone. It was a position that could only be attained after defeating hundreds and thousands of demons. She earned Abaddon's trust precisely because she possessed such capability. A cold-blooded being like Abaddon wouldn't show affection merely due to family ties.

Neither her S-rank power nor pure physical abilities were inferior to devils. Though she couldn't compare to notorious devils like Abaddon, she could easily dispose of those who had just reached high-rank level.

The reason she hadn't widely advertised her abilities was simple—there was no need. She knew well how her appearance and reputation could lull enemies into complacency.

Uriel then stepped toward Adelaide with movement too fast for the eye to follow. Her sharp blade instantly targeted Adelaide's neck.

"Ugh...!"

Adelaide hurriedly twisted her body to barely avoid the attack. However, she wasn't quick enough to prevent her skin from being cut. Red blood quickly seeped through.

"Adelaide!"

"I'm fine!"

Adelaide quickly raised her voice to stop Lisianthus. She had anticipated that he would rush to her side without regard for his surroundings.

This couldn't happen every time she was wounded. Her decision to go to war meant she had accepted the possibility of injury. Though his concern was appreciated, she didn't want him interfering in this situation.

Thanks to her careful instructions before the battle, Lisianthus didn't intervene. While Adelaide was relieved thinking he had calmed down, she failed to notice his well-manicured nails repeatedly digging into his palms.

"Stop struggling and die. I'll take good care of your corpse."

"Aagh!"

Uriel struck sharply through another opening. Adelaide cried out as her waist was cut. The wound was deeper than before. She bit her lip hard against the searing pain that felt like a burn.

'She's too fast.'

After continued observation, Adelaide realized Uriel's strength lay in her speed. Even Adelaide, who prided herself on her agility, struggled to keep up with Uriel's pace. Her movements reminded Adelaide of Lisianthus and Caladium. To make matters worse, Uriel's small, thin frame and compact wings made her even harder to grab.

However, every strength has its weakness. While her speed was remarkably difficult to match, her magical power wasn't particularly overwhelming. The recent waist wound proved this point. If Uriel's power had been stronger, the damage wouldn't have been limited to just a cut.

Of course, objectively speaking, her magical power was still very strong, but it fell far short of what Adelaide had experienced sparring with Lisianthus. And that was despite him never having shown his full power.

'And...'

Adelaide barely dodged a sword strike aimed at her heart before swinging her sword toward the air. With a whoosh! The black blade instantly extended like a snake, targeting Uriel.

"Hmph."

Uriel sneered as she quickly evaded. However, Adelaide didn't give up and pursued her. Witnessing this, Lisianthus suddenly flinched. It was rather reckless movement.

Sure enough, the sharp blade sliced Adelaide's shoulder. Despite the pain of the sword cutting deep into her skin, she continued moving her whip without pause.

Soon, the sharp thorns protruding from the whip grazed Uriel's skin. Bright red blood burst forth simultaneously.

Though the attack succeeded, it wasn't particularly good strategy considering Adelaide's own injuries. However, Adelaide grinned as if she had been waiting for exactly this outcome.

"Your defense is weak."

To sustain such a wound from merely grazing thorns—this meant that if attacks could land properly, Uriel could be subdued more easily than expected. The information was worth the price of a torn shoulder.

Uriel's pale face twisted fiercely. The energy radiating from her grew even more intense. It seemed her pride had been properly wounded.

"How dare you...!"

Uriel muttered in a murderous voice before increasing her speed even further. Her attacks came so rapidly there was no time to track them with the eye.

Adelaide appeared to be struggling desperately to dodge, but could only avoid fatal wounds. Her skin was repeatedly torn across her arms and legs. Unable to escape, she could only let out groans of pain.

"Kugh...! Huk, aaagh!"

"If you want to talk about defense, shouldn't you at least be able to land your whip?"

Much less with attacks you can't even make, Uriel added.

Despite Uriel's obvious composure, Adelaide completely failed to gain any advantage. She barely managed to avoid attacks and nothing more. It was an utterly helpless display.

Uriel let out a derisive sneer. Right, it's already impressive that a mere succubus made it this far. How far could such worthless blood really go?

With this thought, she reached out at incredible speed and grabbed Adelaide's neck. Since she had taken quite a liking to that face, she planned to snap the neck cleanly without letting blood spray.

Grab.

However, even Uriel, the lord of Los Halde, hadn't expected the trembling Adelaide to suddenly grab her wrist as if she had been waiting for this moment.

"—Got you."

Adelaide smiled brightly despite her blood-streaked face. Simultaneously, an enormous amount of demonic energy began exploding from her hand.

"Aaaargh!"

Uriel screamed at the pain that felt like raging flames consuming her entire body. Taking advantage of that moment, the whip bound her body tightly according to its master's will.

"How dare you, you wench—!"

Uriel glared murderously at Adelaide while coughing up blood.

Her mistake had been letting her guard down after seeing only Adelaide's exterior. This time, she had fallen for the very trick she often employed herself.

'To think I would be caught like this...!'

Uriel gathered all her demonic energy and unleashed it. Sharp energy repeatedly stabbed and sliced through Adelaide's body. Adelaide clenched her teeth against the pain as her already torn wounds were shredded further.

If she didn't release Uriel, she would sustain considerable injuries herself. Perhaps even wounds that would be difficult to recover from. Despite knowing this, she gripped Uriel's wrist even tighter.

"Let's see who can endure longer."

After all, defense is my strong point. Though blood trickled from between her lips, Adelaide's mouth curved up in a smile.

Take the flesh to get to the bone. This was the strategy she had chosen. Though the amount of flesh taken was excessive, to someone as straightforward as her, there seemed no more certain method.

Little did she know that Lisianthus's heart was being torn apart moment by moment as he watched.
