CSMCDB - Chapter 197

Chapter 197

The dragons had no idea what they were about to face.

Wen Yuncheng glanced at her crafting template. Before setting out, she returned to the rest area and walked over to Number One, who was obediently sitting and assembling a machine. She bent down and ruffled his head. "Finish what you're working on first. Once you're done, I'll give you a new blueprint. See if you can assemble the new machine according to the diagram."

"Of course, it's okay if you can't. Just take a look at the new blueprint and learn from it. I can handle it when I get back." Wen Yuncheng took out a large bag of new parts and spread an enormous mechanical blueprint out on the ground.

The new machine was also a limited edition—the kind that could only be crafted once. Its name was pretty cool: Space Shuttle Blueprint.

But in reality, it was just a location-based teleporter, and it could only teleport within the plane. All she had to do was input the coordinates of a location, purchase a "Super Energy Crystal" from the system store's new arrivals to provide the shuttle with sufficient power, and she could teleport there instantly!

Of course, the location might have a tiny bit of deviation, which seemed to be related to the teleportation environment. Wen Yuncheng didn't understand the finer details, but in any case, with this, no one on the entire Starry Sky Continent could ever catch her!

Unless every living being on the continent came after her at once! But even then, the number of people who could defeat her now could be counted on one hand.

Wen Yuncheng thought for a moment with a hint of pride, then patted Number One's smooth head again. "Study hard. If you manage to assemble it... tell me what color you like, and I'll give you a new paint job!"

"Okay." Number One nodded solemnly and quickly assembled the machine in his hands. Once he finished this Self-Destruct Dog, he could start studying the new blueprint.

Dusting off her hands, Wen Yuncheng straightened her clothes. She squinted, listening to the sounds of confrontation and battle outside, and walked out of the rest area with her hands behind her back.

It was time. Time for her to make her entrance.

At the same time, the dragons facing off at Zihua Town all shivered. They exchanged glances, their huge draconic eyes filled with immense confusion.

This feeling, this feeling... what was going on?

Assassin's Stealth activated. Wen Yuncheng used Camouflage and maneuvered her Floating Magnetic Disk, closing in on a dragon to the left of the assassin's target. The Dragon Race had learned its lesson; they were only sending out Star Emperors now. No more Star Venerate-level dragons were coming here to slack off. Wen Yuncheng was very satisfied with this.

For Star Emperors, the gap between the first, second, and third layers was still quite large. Of course, this tier difference didn't apply to her. In Wen Yuncheng's eyes, a third-layer Star Emperor dragon was tough-skinned and hard to kill, a first-layer was the easiest, and a second-layer... was manageable. The only thing that wasn't great was that all Emperor-level dragons had a uniform wholesale price of thirty thousand experience points, with no sense of progression.

[?] 1947 was slightly displeased. [Should I change it for you? Twenty thousand for the first layer, twenty-five thousand for the second, and thirty thousand for the third. How about that? Does that give you a sense of progression?]

Wen Yuncheng: I couldn't possibly trouble you. No, thank you.

After sassing her old father, Wen Yuncheng got serious. The moment the assassin launched its first attack, her Camouflage skill would break. She had to seize the opportunity. The instant the assassin struck, she had to simultaneously throw skills at the other dragons. The skills had to be aimed precisely to try and instantly kill the two dragons near the assassin, then use other skills to kill the ones farther away.

"Wha-" The assassin's first strike landed! The targeted dragon was instantly thrown into a state of fear!

Wen Yuncheng didn't attack this dragon, because she knew the assassin's final self-destruct attack could easily take out this first-layer Star Emperor. The instant the assassin struck, she threw an HS-12 Plasma Generator at the dragon on the right, then summoned Thunder Walker and controlled its three massive rotating gears to grind over the body of the adjacent dragon that had just started to react!

A full-frontal assault!

She, Wen Yuncheng, could finally insta-kill someone without needing to open with a control skill! Could this be the thrill of completely dominating an opponent? Of course, it still couldn't compare to her Little Ice Mountain.

1947: It seems something just got run over.

[Mission: Dragon Slaying]

[Ding! Killed a Star Emperor-level dragon, gained 30,000 experience!]

The mission notification "dinged" three times in a row. Ninety thousand experience points, just like that! Why would she even bother slaying demonic beasts? How long would it take to get ninety thousand experience from them?

Wen Yuncheng celebrated by chugging a Grandmaster MP Potion. Her mana bar was less than half-depleted, but it didn't matter; she was happy. "Come on! I, Wen Yuncheng, am right here! Weren't you all determined to kill me?"

"Damn you!-"

The Huanling general went berserk in that instant!

Three Emperor-level dragons were dead! Instantly! The Dragon Race was already wavering, and if Wen Yuncheng kept killing them like this, the alliance... the alliance was on the verge of collapse! The problem was, Wen Yuncheng was specifically targeting the dragons! But the Dragon King didn't believe it. He thought the Huanling army was using tricks to make the Dragon Race serve as cannon fodder!

Wen Yuncheng directly entered her mech. The blue and white armor enveloped her, and the 15% damage reduction gave her a great sense of security. "Come on! If you don't kill me, you're not a true Huanling!"

"You-" The Huanling general trembled with rage, but he was completely surrounded by Chu Han and five other Star Emperors and couldn't break free.

"The containment formation is set! Hurry up!" Chu Han saw that Wen Yuncheng seemed to be getting a little carried away and quickly shouted.

She's still young, getting provoked so easily. Why waste time trash-talking the Huanling general? Isn't it better to just kill the dragons?

Wen Yuncheng snapped back to her senses. Annoyed with herself for a moment, she immediately turned her gaze to the three remaining Emperor-level dragons.

"I'll go break the containment formation! You two delay her!"

"No! I'm the most proficient with formations! Leave breaking it to me!"

"Bullshit! I'm the strongest! I'll break the formation!"

The three Emperor-level dragons scrambled over each other to flee toward Dragon Island. None of them wanted to be left behind to delay Wen Yuncheng. The three dragons nearly started fighting each other.

Wen Yuncheng was stunned by the sight. Surely the Dragon Race isn't this stupid, right? Where's their old arrogance? Weren't you all so proud?! What's going on? 1947, did the Plane Consciousness hit the Dragon Race with an intelligence-lowering debuff?

[Read less commentary and more classic Long Aotian novels.] 1947 said speechlessly. [You showed up and instantly took out three Emperor-level dragons. Anyone with a shred of intelligence wouldn't dare face you head-on. You think they have nine lives?]

Ah, so it's a deterrence buff. Wen Yuncheng's mind worked fast, and her hands never stopped moving. She fired a magnetic pulse. The three dragons were tangled together and all of them were gold, so she had no idea which one the bullet hit. Whatever, no need to be picky. I'll just follow up with a G-0 Warlord and blow them up!

"Aiyo, my tail is numb! Help, I'm dying!-"

"Let me break the formation! Let me!"

"Huanling, save us!- What the (expletive) are you watching for?!-"

"You've colluded with the humans, haven't you?! You sold us out!"

The three Huanling generals over there were furious. Are your huge dragon eyes just for decoration? Can't you see that all eighteen Star Emperors are tying us down? Forget Half-Saints, even ordinary Phantom Emperors are occupied! We can't provide any support! Why don't you turn around and fight?! So what if you die? At least fight Wen Yuncheng and test out her full strength!

Interceptor Factory, Airstrike Support... twenty mechanical Self-Destruct Dogs...

Wen Yuncheng teleported back to the rest area. Staring at the ninety thousand experience points she had just obtained so easily, she suddenly had an epiphany.

"I finally understand why dragons are always used as mounts in stories."

"And I finally understand why they're usually depicted as mysterious, aloof, and unapproachable."

Once you get close, everything is exposed. The mystery is gone, the aloofness is gone, so what's left but to become a mount? Indeed, Wen Yuncheng thought, only when you reach a certain height and look at things again do you discover a different perspective.

In the past, she had thought the Dragon Race was powerful, mysterious, terrifying, and domineering. She even hoped to get a dragon as a mount. But now? She was starting to wonder where a race like this got the ambition to dominate the continent. No wonder that after so many years of development, they had gone from being the former overlords of the continent to the rumored overlords of Dragon Island.

[Aren't you going to keep killing?] 1947 couldn't help but interrupt Wen Yuncheng's musings. [Half-Saints give experience too.]

Wen Yuncheng sneered. "Am I the kind of person who cares about that little bit of experience?" She raised a hand and rubbed Number One's mechanical head. The Azure Sea Crystal was actually quite smooth and felt nice to the touch.

[?]

"Waiting for cooldowns."

Wen Yuncheng sat down on the ground. She glanced at the parts Number One was studying and assembling, compared them to the blueprint, and was surprised to find no mistakes! Not bad! Wen Yuncheng looked at Number One, her eyes filled with admiration. If the Apostles were this intelligent, could they perhaps even help her develop new robots? Wen Yuncheng placed high hopes on Number One. "Keep it up, I'm counting on you!"

Number One glanced at Wen Yuncheng, not understanding. It quickly lowered its head and continued comparing the blueprint and contemplating the assembly of the parts, no longer letting its unreliable master distract it.

Seeing Number One was so on the ball, Wen Yuncheng couldn't be bothered to puzzle over the blueprint herself. She simply stood up, rubbing Number One's head while waiting for her cooldowns. At times like these, she missed her Little Ice Mountain especially keenly.

"Hey, 1947, is Little Ice Mountain a third-layer Star Venerate yet?"

[Kiddo, I'm your bound system, not Lin Jinyu's. I don't know!]

"? Then you were lying to me last time?"

[Sigh, how can you call a reasonable analysis a lie?]

For a moment, Wen Yuncheng was speechless.

She continued rubbing Number One's smooth head with her left hand while taking out a communication stone with her right, planning to ask for herself.

-"Killing demonic beasts."

"Oh, okay. Should I hang up then?" Wen Yuncheng asked hesitantly, but there was no reply. She listened quietly and could hear the sound of a sword cutting through the air, followed by the roar of a demonic beast. Did it sound a bit like a mammoth? Hmm, it seemed like someone else was talking over there, but Wen Yuncheng couldn't hear clearly.

-"What did you just say?" Lin Jinyu's voice came through again; she had clearly dealt with the demonic beast. "The demonic beasts in most of the towns have been suppressed. Thanks to you suppressing the Emperor-level Huanling demonic beasts in the Demonic Beast Great Forest, many of them have lost their will to fight."

-"In another two or three months, the towns and cities across the Empire should be able to slowly return to normal life. However, arranging for and compensating the families of the deceased will take much longer. There's no helping that."

"That's already very good," Wen Yuncheng said. "Whether it was you, the sects, or the Empire, everyone's reaction and actions during this war have been excellent." Wen Yuncheng had expected people to rebel, to act as spies. She had suspected that some Star Emperors might want to kill her, that her own people might stab her in the back, that the Empire would become wary of her... but none of that had happened.

"I'm a third-layer Star Venerate now," Lin Jinyu said softly. "Where are you?"

"Zihua Town," Wen Yuncheng replied in a low voice, unable to suppress a smile. "What? Do you want to come find me? You can't bear to see me after just this little bit of time apart?"

The other end of the communication stone fell silent, but Wen Yuncheng could hear Lin Jinyu's breathing, followed by a soft "Yes" after the silence.

"I miss you."
