Chapter 16
Song Nanyin made it all the way down the elevator, glancing back every few steps, staggering as she ran outside. By then, the car she had called had just arrived. Unwilling to stay a single moment longer, she opened the door and climbed in at once, casually tossing her suitcase onto the empty back seat rather than wasting time putting it in the trunk.
The driver watched her whole routine, shot a puzzled glance at the entrance to the residential complex, and wondered whether someone was chasing her. Seeing no one at the gate, he found Song Nanyin's behavior all the stranger.
"My phone number ends in 5934. Please hurry and drive." Song Nanyin caught her breath and immediately told the driver to get out of there. Only when she heard the car start and gradually pull away from Liu Zhaoran's neighborhood did the heart hanging in her chest finally settle.
She sat in the back seat, her spine rigid, while her heartbeat swelled in the silent space.
Thump, thump, thump.
One beat after another, resounding like a drum.
Only now did Song Nanyin fully recover her clarity and reason, and only now did she clearly realize what an utterly bewildering thing she had just done.
She... she had actually licked Liu Zhaoran like that. Not just licked, but also gnawed and bitten, keeping her teeth on the other woman's neck for nearly half an hour. Later, apparently, she had gone even further and sucked on the other's chest.
The memories from ten minutes ago kept flashing back, rendered especially vivid by her newly lucid mind. She even remembered touching Liu Zhaoran down there through her underwear and babbling some nonsense about whether she was wet.
At the thought, Song Nanyin clutched her head and let out a mournful wail. How could she have done such a thing... and with Liu Zhaoran, that Black-Hearted Lotus, of all people. Come on, the two of them had been love rivals before this. No matter how she looked at it, this was all kinds of wrong.
Song Nanyin alternated between clutching her head and howling with regret and snatching up her phone, afraid Liu Zhaoran would contact her. The driver couldn't help glancing at her in the rearview mirror, couldn't help doubting her mental state.
When she finally made it back to her own home, Song Nanyin carried her suitcase upstairs, closing and locking the door in one fluid motion. Returning after so long, the place was full of familiar feelings, and of course, some settled dust.
Song Nanyin was in no mood to clean at a time like this. She casually left her suitcase by the door, changed into fresh sheets and a clean quilt, showered, and lay down.
The hour hand pointed to 11 PM. In one more hour, the absurd night would be over. Song Nanyin curled up in bed, her thoughts a tangled mess.
She didn't know how to face Liu Zhaoran now. In a moment of anger, she had chosen this way of paying her back, but... the things the two of them had done, now that she thought back, were strange no matter how she turned them over.
Song Nanyin forced herself to close her eyes and sleep. As her sight sank into darkness, the images in her mind became exceptionally clear. She seemed to see Liu Zhaoran pinned to the bed by her again, saw her body rise and fall faintly at her touch.
Actually... Liu Zhaoran really did have a great figure, and her chest felt good in the hand, too. Especially the scent, so fragrant, so pleasant, and her voice was lovely to hear as well.
These dense, jumbled impressions scurried wildly through Song Nanyin's head. She didn't want these thoughts in her mind, but the more she resisted, the more active they became.
"Liu Zhaoran, you damn woman, you won't even leave me in peace now, will you? How can you be so detestable?" Song Nanyin was extremely displeased with Liu Zhaoran for barging into her brain unceasingly. She turned over onto her stomach and pressed the pillow over her head.
That did reduce Liu Zhaoran's presence a little, except... her chest was uncomfortably squashed. After a while, Song Nanyin turned over, gasping like someone who had just surfaced from water. Rubbing her aching chest, she realized:
Hmm, D-cups are not meant for lying face down...
Liu Zhaoran knew nothing of Song Nanyin's distress, because she was being troubled by something else. Her wrists had been chafed until they hurt, the tender skin scraped raw and flushed an alarming red.
Nearly half an hour had passed since Song Nanyin left, and Liu Zhaoran had only just managed to loosen the skirt bound around her wrists by a little. Subtle stings came from her nape and wrists, and each one made Liu Zhaoran "remember" Song Nanyin a little more in her heart.
She never expected that an angered foolish lion would fight back, much less that the fight-back would only go halfway, without ever finishing what it started. Her desire gradually receded beneath her body's discomfort, replaced by a chill and a stinging ache.
The tightly tied skirt knot was showing signs of coming loose. Liu Zhaoran struggled harder, and finally, when her wrists were nearly numb with pain, unfastened the garment that had bound her.
She sat on the bed, looking at her chafed red hands, a murky, unreadable glint passing through her eyes. Then she got out of bed, showered again, and applied medicine to her wounds.
Apart from her wrists, the worst of it, the back of her neck was also a major disaster zone. Liu Zhaoran swept her long hair aside and looked at the wounds there in the mirror. Her fair neck was covered in a crisscross of bite marks and teeth prints; around the deepest one, the surrounding flesh had turned purple-red.
With a gentle touch, she could even feel the traces of Song Nanyin's teeth. Liu Zhaoran let out a soft laugh and applied ointment to her neck; the cool sensation somewhat soothed the fiery sting. Still, for the next few days, she probably wouldn't be able to wear low-cut clothes or casually tie her hair up.
And all this discomfort was, of course, thanks to Song Nanyin. No matter how stupid the little lion was, once cornered, she would still bite. The only question was whether she should go to the hospital for a rabies shot.
This was the first time in her life Liu Zhaoran had encountered such a situation, but she found her mood far better than she had imagined. The pain on her skin counted for little; in spirit, she was joyful.
She lay in bed, breathing in the somewhat intimate air of the room, slowly stroking her still-erect nipple while pressing her other hand against the scent gland opening at her nape, savoring the feeling of Song Nanyin's mouth kissing and sucking there.
Omegas were physiologically similar to ordinary women, yet in some ways they were highly distinctive. In her world, once every Omega's scent gland opening and scent glands had fully matured, they would experience a monthly heat cycle. Depending on the Omega's class and physiological traits, it generally lasted three to five days. Those with special constitutions might last even longer.
During a heat cycle, the body was extremely sensitive, and it was often accompanied by a heightened-sensitivity phase. At such times, an Omega's body desperately needed sex, needed an Alpha's pheromones for comfort. If one didn't want to do that sort of thing, aside from gritting one's teeth and enduring, the only choice was medication to suppress the heat, collectively known as heat suppressants.
It was almost laughable: as an Omega, Liu Zhaoran had never experienced so much as one heat cycle in her original world. She had been only ten when she came to this world. Apart from the clothes on her back and the Light-Brain on her wrist, she had only a few pitiful tubes of nutrient fluid.
Unable to return to her original world, still less able to seek her mother's help, she had come to this entirely unknown place and become a pitiful orphan. Liu Zhaoran couldn't go back; she could only force herself to adapt to this world, and doing so had consumed nearly all her strength.
Later, at twenty, her first heat cycle arrived. Without heat suppressants then, she locked herself in her room for three whole days. She finally understood that her situation from then on would only grow harder.
Perhaps the only thing worth counting as a blessing was that pheromones in this world were relatively weak, and her own scent gland opening was rarely stimulated, so heat cycles were not so hard to endure. After she worked out a substitute for heat suppressants, she could manage well enough.
Satisfying herself was Liu Zhaoran's foremost priority in this world. She had nothing, and she cared only about herself. She knew exactly what she wanted; in most cases, she would list several methods and ultimately choose the simplest and most fitting route to get it done.
Song Nanyin was an exception, the most unpredictable accident in Liu Zhaoran's experience. Even if she had once had one-night stands with women, to Liu Zhaoran those were hardly more than one way of resolving a physical need.
Liu Zhaoran didn't think she liked the same sex; she preferred smart people who knew when to advance and when to retreat. The moment the other party showed the slightest thing she was unsatisfied with, she would end the relationship early. All her previous boyfriends had been like that.
But was Song Nanyin smart? The answer was no. The little lion was both silly and dull, unable even to grasp the simplest workplace rules. Otherwise, she wouldn't have lagged a step behind her in every respect before, unable even to hook a man of Zhang Kai's caliber.
Unexpectedly, though, Liu Zhaoran found she didn't dislike Song Nanyin's foolishness. On the contrary, she felt the little lion, being exactly this stupid and clumsy, was rather endearing. What was more, being touched by her felt extraordinarily good.
Liu Zhaoran wouldn't casually attribute this special craving to the fact that Song Nanyin was an Alpha, because she herself knew, perfectly well, that she was sensitive to Song Nanyin's touch, and it had nothing to do with whether the other was a woman or a female Alpha.
Apart from heat cycles, Liu Zhaoran hadn't felt this extreme thirst of the body in a long time, and her own need for sex was well within the normal range.
But... whether it was her previous partners, her own hand, or toys, none of them had given her feelings as intense as what Song Nanyin brought.
So that extraordinary sensation was something only Song Nanyin could give her.
Special. Intense. Restless.
Every novel experience originated with Song Nanyin, and the things she found hardest to tolerate became the pettiest trifles where Song Nanyin was concerned. Putting all of this together, it wasn't hard for Liu Zhaoran to draw a conclusion.
She was very satisfied with this little white mouse, and she was willing to spend some patience and time to keep it obediently by her side. What was more, she was also the only one of her kind in this world.
Once she had thought everything through, Liu Zhaoran's mood grew even brighter. Especially at the thought of the way Song Nanyin had fled in panic today; the corner of her mouth curled up and never fell again.
How to put it? Song Nanyin was a crashing wave, whipping up a restless swell on her tranquil sea.
Would she be broken and swept away by her, or would she swallow the tide and make it part of herself? Liu Zhaoran was eagerly looking forward to the outcome.
Of course, it was rare for her to "like" someone this much, so she naturally wouldn't let her go easily.
