MORIC - Chapter 44
Chapter 44: Come Then
Xi Zhoumeng's pheromones were very distant to Chi Yueshan at first.
After all, she had only smelled them briefly and wasn't certain. This person seemed to be a flashy flirt all day long, but in essence, she was a very cautious person.
The first-years and second-years would occasionally have classes in the same building, and the classrooms changed daily.
Even though Chi Yueshan had figured out the pattern, she would still get lost in the intricate and complex academic building.
The staircases looked alike, the classrooms looked alike, and even the potted plants at the corners were identical.
Occasionally, amidst the crowd of students heading to class, Chi Yueshan, running with her textbooks, would see Xi Zhoumeng surrounded by people.
No matter when, she was always like the moon surrounded by stars.
She would sometimes nod, sometimes smile at the people around her. Even the standard-issue school uniform, which everyone wore, looked different on her.
But Chi Yueshan still felt that this person wasn't very sincere.
Her smile never reached her eyes, even when looking at the junior students who admired her.
Even though Chi Yueshan didn't want to pay too much attention to Xi Zhoumeng, she was still drawn to her.
If she had to describe it, Chi Yueshan even felt that some unseen consciousness was creating opportunities for her to meet Xi Zhoumeng.
Even though they had no real interactions at the beginning.
A strange consciousness permeated time and space, causing them to meet again and again.
Xi Zhoumeng was particular about her food, and she and Chi Yueshan didn't even eat at the same cafeteria, but they would run into each other at the school's drink shop.
Because Xuan Ping was dating the third-year senior Mu Lai, she had also become more particular, starting to spend money she previously thought she shouldn't.
Xi Zhoumeng rarely went to the library, and when she did, she only went to the VIP room. Chi Yueshan never used to run into her there.
However, ever since getting to know Ling Xun, Chi Yueshan had managed to use a high-level library card and would see Xi Zhoumeng's name on the screen in the VIP room.
Chi Yueshan could also see the other's public borrowing records.
The places Xi Zhoumeng frequented were the theater, the concert hall, and expensive concept cafes.
These were places Chi Yueshan would have to spend a lot of money to go to, and so she wouldn't.
Yet, Chi Yueshan would always pass by the entrances to these places. They were on her way to the library, or the public corridor she had to cross to get to her flower arrangement class.
It was as if Xi Zhoumeng was everywhere.
But only in this moment did Chi Yueshan personally feel that oppressive presence from Xi Zhoumeng.
It was different from the innate oppression of other Alphas. Hers wasn't a bone-chilling cold that would make one tremble in fear. It was like being on a highway before the break of dawn, where a driver, staring ahead, would only feel the empty chill of the dense fog.
Not gentle in the slightest, it even carried an endless danger, as if moving forward would lead to a fatal crash, to a point of no return.
But the unknown had always been alluring, not to mention that Chi Yueshan had faced an unknown mother since she was a child.
An unknown future.
In that instant, her soul trembled, her legs went weak, and she nearly plunged headfirst into her.
Xi Zhoumeng had even less strength, but her body and mind reacted faster, pulling the other girl back. Her whole body was scorching hot. Her neither-A-nor-O constitution was a trial of ice and fire, pulling her in two directions and making it impossible to stay calm.
"You're… in heat?"
Chi Yueshan looked up in shock, forgetting to even pull away from Xi Zhoumeng's embrace. But just as she finished speaking, Xi Zhoumeng pushed her away.
It was a forceful push, so much so that Xi Zhoumeng herself stumbled back two steps and collapsed onto the soft sofa.
Xi Zhoumeng: "Lock the door."
Chi Yueshan hadn't reacted yet. She let out a sound of confusion.
Xi Zhoumeng was panting heavily. The scent overwhelmed Chi Yueshan, making her head spin. Feeling both hot and cold, she subconsciously went to lock the door.
The room was very large, with a style that seemed copied from a classical oil painting. The only exception was the style of the hanging paintings, which were very abstract. Chi Yueshan had to look several times before realizing these paintings had a heavy scent of blood.
The picture frames didn't contain photos either, but were all filled with things of a similar style.
It was completely different from the noble and pure impression Xi Zhoumeng's appearance usually gave.
She didn't seem bright and righteous at all.
Even her pheromones carried a fierce, mutually destructive quality, unlike the common scents of food or plants.
It was so unique it felt disjointed, as if it were the source of some pollution.
Xi Zhoumeng leaned back on the sofa, her head tilted up. The five-tiered glass chandelier above seemed like layers upon layers of candelabras. As the light and shadows sprinkled over Xi Zhoumeng through the beaded curtains, Chi Yueshan finally noticed she was sweating. Her usually vibrant red lips had paled, a few strands of hair stuck to her face, and with her panting and loosened collar, she had the decadent beauty of a fallen divine messenger.
It was also as if she belonged in hell, and this was her punishment for descending to the mortal world once more.
Chi Yueshan was being relentlessly attacked by these pheromones. She took deep breaths while trying to get closer to Xi Zhoumeng.
It was really no big deal for Omegas to smell each other's pheromones. It wasn't like no one in the dorms ever went into heat; they just had to be back to normal by class time.
After all, they had plenty of suppressants patches and potions prepared.
Chi Yueshan was even curious about just how many types of human pheromones there were.
It wasn't as if she hadn't passed by the room of an Omega classmate who hadn't closed their door properly during their heat, hearing sounds of pain and pleasure accompanied by mechanical vibrations.
This was commonplace for adult Omegas. Some were addicted to this pleasure, taking a special drug at the moment of climax during their heat to experience a kind of empty ecstasy.
Chi Yueshan had never tried it.
She had always hated her body, yet it was because of this body that she had received the rewards she wanted.
In her eyes, an Omega's heat was torture.
See, even someone like Xi Zhoumeng could lose control.
But from this angle, Chi Yueshan couldn't help but marvel at Xi Zhoumeng's beauty.
The usual Xi Zhoumeng was already captivating enough, but she was inevitably distant.
At this moment, in this room, her expression gave Chi Yueshan a private pleasure, as if she were peeking at a secret.
She was completely unaware that her pheromone patch had been torn off the moment Xi Zhoumeng had grabbed her.
After shamelessly admiring Xi Zhoumeng's disheveled state during her heat for a short while, Chi Yueshan suddenly lowered her eyes and reached for the back of her neck.
Xi Zhoumeng was sprawled on the sofa. Even though she was being tossed about by an unfamiliar desire with no way out, she still had to maintain a proud and wicked posture.
"Are you in heat, or am I?"
【System: Aren't you just messing around because you know you have a 100% match?】
It was actually sticking up for Chi Yueshan.
In that instant, the system realized its host was very likely an extremist.
And that malevolent expression looked a lot like the pieced-together, fragmented villain settings from its corrupted database.
Could this person have been a villain from some other time-space plane before?
As a defective product itself, the system could only rely on experience to make a judgment. After all, the changing of worlds was a common occurrence.
Reality and illusion were always intertwined. You might think this is a book, but perhaps this book is the real world.
Or you might think this plot is the original setting, but perhaps it's already a derivative work.
Xi Zhoumeng didn't have the strength to speak, nor could she tell if she was talking to the system in her head or something else.
She blinked, almost whispering, "I was a bastard born from a mess to begin with…"
These words were very, very soft, almost the source of a person's tragic life, and also the beginning of a world's subversion.
But the time-space plane was like the face of a Rubik's Cube, and at this moment, Chi Yueshan couldn't hear a thing. She stared, flustered and helpless, at her shirt, which was already soaked through with a wet patch. She retreated in horror, saying in disbelief, "Why? How could it be early again…"
Xi Zhoumeng let out a soft laugh. "Sorry, it might be my fault."
Her voice, made even more bewitching by her heat, combined with her already inhumanly beautiful face, was like a siren's appetizer for seduction.
Her apology at this moment seemed so formal, so polite that it almost gave Chi Yueshan the illusion that she had mistaken her for someone else.
Chi Yueshan clutched her chest, a sense of shame enveloping her. The soft carpet gave her an especially unreal feeling, and she was swept up by the tide of passion, the world spinning around her.
She fumbled in her pants pocket; she always carried a new pheromone patch with her.
Xi Zhoumeng just watched as Chi Yueshan impatiently applied the pheromone patch.
【System: Was she influenced by you, or did she influence you?】
Xi Zhoumeng: "Who knows?"
She looked at the light, feeling that everything was a mess, everything was wrong.
The plot seemed to be correct, yet it also seemed wrong everywhere.
The change in character settings had no effect, and being OOC also had no effect. Chi Yueshan's terrible physical constitution didn't seem like something that would appear in a proper coming-of-age script.
It was more like a fan-made derivative work from an online forum.
OOC doesn't matter, as long as it's satisfying.
Yeah, what if that's the case?
Then what kind of setting did Chi Yueshan get? Did she get the setting of being my legal wife?
Or did we both become side stories outside of a 1v1 relationship, both becoming part of Wen Xinghuo's harem?
As Xi Zhoumeng's thoughts ran wild, she resisted wave after wave of a strange, plundering sensation.
This was completely different from the desires to sleep with someone or do something she'd felt before.
Her bangs stuck to her forehead, and that streak of highlights was soaked, as if what she thought was a foolproof plan had turned into a total defeat.
But on the other hand, Xi Zhoumeng felt fortunate. At least it was with this little slob. If it had been Wen Xinghuo, she might have killed herself on the spot.
Having been immersed in web novels for years, Xi Zhoumeng couldn't help but think of some unlimited flow scenarios. What if she died and had to start all over again?
That would be even more terrifying.
【System: Holy crap, the pheromone patch isn't working??? Think of something, quick!】
Xi Zhoumeng murmured, "What am I supposed to do? It's definitely my problem… This messed-up constitution, who knows… maybe it's because I didn't… didn't differentiate into a normal person… that it's having this effect…"
Chi Yueshan suddenly started crying.
The floor was littered with pheromone patches, the high-quality ones Xi Zhoumeng had given her before, looking like fallen rose petals.
The sudden onset of her heat still terrified Chi Yueshan. She had always hated variables, but her life had never been stable.
Even though she held some hope for the unknown future, it was mostly overshadowed by the necessity of moving forward with no way to turn back.
She couldn't even control her own body.
Chi Yueshan looked up helplessly, her gaze meeting Xi Zhoumeng's.
Those eyes, always filled with a teasing light, seemed to hold an infinite attraction, making Chi Yueshan unable to stop herself from developing a sense of dependence on Xi Zhoumeng.
The other girl had indeed given her a great sense of security—during her last heat, with the guidance in drama class, and including the guarantee for the flower arrangement exam.
Just a love rival.
That's what Chi Yueshan thought at first.
But even if Chi Yueshan didn't want to admit it, she was much more familiar with Xi Zhoumeng than with Wen Xinghuo.
Or perhaps, the Wen Xinghuo she knew had only ever been a figment of her imagination.
Only Xi Zhoumeng was within her reach.
"Xi… Xi Zhoumeng… what do I do? The pheromone patch… it's not working."
Chi Yueshan's glasses were fogged up. Her helplessness made her face look even more pitiful and lovely, perfectly hitting Xi Zhoumeng's preferences.
When was the last time she tried to be intimate with someone?
Xi Zhoumeng couldn't remember at all. In her past life, her world was incredibly boring. Her "friends" didn't know her true identity, only that she was a bankrupt second-generation rich kid.
No girlfriend, only brief relationships.
It wasn't that no one wanted to continue dating her, but Xi Zhoumeng was unwilling.
It was too much trouble.
To be blunt, relationships were only fun during the ambiguous stage. Once they took the next step and slept together, the novelty vanished completely, and nothing could hold her interest.
What's more, she didn't even have the desire to sleep with anyone.
That her, she could have whatever she wanted, and destroy whatever she wanted.
Her mother was her father's older sister. That didn't matter.
It didn't matter that I was the family's stain; I would get a new identity.
But why would the halo of a genius, accompanied by a family scandal, lead to even "me" being killed?
If you didn't want me to be born, then why give birth to me?
The bonds of blood were filthy and frenzied. The fruit they bore surpassed the parents' madness and evil, only retaliating with even greater intensity.
Feelings have always been just feelings.
That's why I didn't plan on sleeping with Chi Yueshan from the beginning.
After sleeping with her, I couldn't guarantee I wouldn't get bored and stop caring about the plot, letting her die.
But I had to find some connection, a shared destiny with Xi Zhoumeng in this damn plot.
After all, I was the one who gave her the name Chi Yueshan.
Xi Zhoumeng laughed and opened her arms to Chi Yueshan—
"Then come here, my girl."
