Monster - Chapter 137

Chapter 137: Snowfield - Monster

Catastrophic events usually unfold in a very short time. From Lou suddenly leaving her less than two days after they went to Star City, to the return of her memories of Aztec, Lin Sandie had felt as if she were on a speeding train, with no idea what lay ahead.

Much of the time, Lin Sandie was in a state of anger, mania, and powerlessness. She loved Lou, she cared for Little Fool, but that didn't mean she didn't harbor resentment.

Before recovering her memories, she resented Lou's infatuation, resented Lou's rejection. After recovering her memories, she resented Little Fool even more for her unyielding, almost self-torturing search for her.

She really wasn't worth being remembered for so long. When she first met Little Fool, she had only treated her as an NPC, a passerby, a necessary means of survival.

She had never thought of loving a child, never thought of being with this child forever.

But after meeting Lou, all the "never thoughts," all the "what ifs" became a kind of mockery, a kind of retribution, an inevitability in the course of things. Meeting Lou made Lin Sandie—who had always wanted to firmly grasp her own life and destiny—become uncontrollable, crazy. Her restrained demeanor was torn away, revealing only a ferocious desire for control and ugly jealousy.

They were a match made in heaven. They were meant to love each other this way, and also to torture each other this way.

Lin Sandie's mind raced frantically. She didn't answer the accusations of the humanoid figure trapped in her Island. Amidst the continuous bombardment, Lin Sandie took out the Legislator Brooch that Lou had returned to her. She looked at Lou with eyes full of hatred, then pinned the brooch to her chest. Blood from her still-bleeding fingertips dripped down the scale-shaped brooch and onto the snow. She then took out Lilo's Poetry Collection. The poems for good luck had already been used up on their previous journey. Lin Sandie flipped through it, found a page titled "Requiem," and tore it out.

Countless lines spread from Lou's body. She wanted to bind Lin Sandie, but found that for some reason, her lines wouldn't obey her commands to attack Lin Sandie.

"By my name, I decree: all property and items obtained by Outsiders in this locality are not protected by law and must be returned on the spot."

All the magical items Lou had securely packed into her space bag appeared on the snow. She hadn't obtained many magical items locally, and she didn't care about them. But when she saw Zhao Anfu's remains, which she had carefully wrapped in a clean sheet, tumble out onto the snow, she roared. In her fury, the Spirit Separation state, which had been suppressed by her injuries and weakness, suddenly formed, and the roar of a massive beast echoed around them.

Lin Sandie saw a white bear at least two meters tall roaring as it charged toward her like a cannonball.

At this moment, Lou was determined to kill Lin Sandie. Lin Sandie had anticipated this, so the moment Zhao Anfu's bones were spilled, she had already used the Guide skill, Guardian.

Guardian: Releases a space with a 1-meter radius. Within this space, damage is reduced by 80%. It can protect no more than 2 people at a time and can only be used once per hour.

The basic Guardian skill only reduced damage by 50%, but the current Lin Sandie was far from a novice Guide. She had saved this unused Guardian skill and now enveloped herself in it. But Lin Sandie knew that this alone wouldn't be enough to stop the white bear.

Regardless, Lou's combat power was far more terrifying than she had imagined. So, as Lou's Spirit Separation white bear charged, Lin Sandie simultaneously used a mental deterrent. Her gaze sharpened, and in the bear's eyes, her body grew immense. Even so, she still took a heavy blow from the bear's paw.

One of Lin Sandie's arms was nearly torn off. The bear's claws left a gash deep enough to expose bone, running from her upper arm to her abdomen, and her internal organs were even visible in the abdominal cavity.

Lin Sandie let out an irrepressible scream, then immediately stifled it. She threw the "Requiem" she had been clutching at the white bear. At the same time, a massive explosion erupted at the white bear's feet.

"Fool!" Lin Sandie cursed, as if enraged. She raised her hand and spread her fingers toward the white bear. Her Spirit Separation state instantly manifested from her arm. Though it was only a hand, it spread like black fog, entangling the white bear in the ever-thickening mist.

"Idiot!" Lin Sandie cursed again. She gripped the brooch on her chest and muttered another decree, "By my name, I decree: within a 10-meter radius of me, Outsiders cannot use non-corporeal attacks."

Under the suppression of her rank and powerful skill, the white bear instantly vanished, returning to Lou's body.

"I'm going to teach you the meaning of giving up." Lin Sandie looked up and gave a smile to Lou, who was lying prone in the snow. She seemed to have fallen into a mental state even more out of control than Lou's.

"Who on earth are you…?" The humanoid figure trapped in the Island was about to continue speaking when Lin Sandie raised her hand and pressed The Pin. Bombs erupted throughout the Island, cutting the figure off.

"Exiled trash." Lin Sandie gave the figure a cold glance. The humanoid, formed of dark green light particles, was once again blown into an unrecognizable shape. And after this bombing, blood began to flow from its body.

Lin Sandie went all out. Both Lou and the unknown creature trapped in the Island were temporarily suppressed by her power alone. Clutching the wound on her abdomen, she healed herself as she walked over to Zhao Anfu's remains and let out a low chuckle. "Failure to teach strictly is my own fault."

"Lin Sandie! Don't!"

Lou saw Lin Sandie pouring gasoline on Zhao Anfu's remains. Her eyes widened in fury as she struggled to get up. She had already used up most of her ammunition fighting the people from Madness Material earlier, and she had just fired the last few rounds at Lin Sandie. Now, she had no effective way to stop her.

Lin Sandie ignored Lou's screams. After dousing Zhao Anfu's remains in gasoline, she was about to light it.

"Lin Sandie!! Are you crazy? Why are you doing this?!" Through sheer willpower and her formidable physique, Lou finally caught up at the last moment. She tackled Lin Sandie, knocking the lighter from her hand with one swift motion.

"Because you're mine!" Lin Sandie yelled uncontrollably, grabbing Lou's back. "Because I won't allow you to treasure another woman's bones!"

The battle turned in an instant. In close combat, even ten Lin Sandies would be no match for Lou. As soon as she tackled Lin Sandie, Lou immediately grabbed her by the neck, her hand tightening, ready to finish her on the spot.

"How did you know I didn't summon Pie?" After seeing the humanoid of light particles trapped in the Island get blown apart like that, Lou immediately knew she hadn't summoned Pie, but possibly Tree.

Lin Sandie continued to glare at Lou hatefully. She pressed one hand against her side ribs. Lou instantly heard the sound of bones breaking, and then, as an expression of extreme pain crossed Lin Sandie's face, the tendons in the hand Lou was using to choke her were severed out of thin air.

"If Pie could really appear and give you instructions, you wouldn't have ended up in this situation." The pressure on her neck eased. Lin Sandie, her face flushed, gave a cold sneer. A metallic taste filled her mouth. She was about to push Lou off, but Lou pressed her whole body down hard on top of her.

Even though she had severed the tendons in Lou's hand, Lin Sandie still couldn't budge her an inch.

Lou, pinning Lin Sandie down, opened her mouth, bit down on the crown on the other woman's head, and tore it off.

"I was deceived…" Lou sat up, one knee pressing on Lin Sandie's chest, and muttered to herself, a look of deep confusion on her face.

"I was deceived, too." The light-particle humanoid trapped in the Island sighed. "To make me walk into a trap without realizing it… Lin Sandie, you're really something."

"Lou! You should know that I am the very essence of Leviathan," Tree suddenly said loudly to Lou.

Lou looked at Tree.

"This means that with a little effort, I can also bring the dead back to life." Tree's words were full of temptation.

As Tree spoke, the white cloth wrapping Zhao Anfu's bones began to swell. Flesh and blood were regrowing on the bones of the long-dead Zhao Anfu.

"Little Rabbit…" Lou called out a name that broke Lin Sandie's heart. She was about to get up and crawl toward Zhao Anfu's remains.

"Bang!" A pistol had appeared in Lin Sandie's hand at some point. She fired upward, aiming at Lou's chin.

But Lou's Sentinel instincts hadn't vanished. Her powerful physical control allowed her to avoid the fatal blow. The bullet grazed her cheek and shot off her ear.

Lin Sandie had fought hard for this opening. Finally finding her chance, she fired a shot at Zhao Anfu's gasoline-soaked remains.

Flames instantly engulfed Zhao Anfu's bones. Lin Sandie watched the blaze shoot toward the sky and burst out laughing.

Lou knew she couldn't hesitate any longer. The Lin Sandie before her had completely lost her mind. She used her lines to substitute for her severed tendons. Although they lacked their usual strength, it was still enough to draw the dagger from her waist. Her next move was to raise her hand and plunge it into the neck of the hysterically laughing Lin Sandie.

But just then, someone beat her to it, raising a long blade from behind and slicing off Lou's entire head.

Lou's head fell into the snow and rolled twice. She saw that the one who had beheaded her was one of Lin Sandie's puppets, Chelsea.

"I really didn't expect things to turn out this way. I was planning to torture her more… Lin Sandie, you're really something." It seemed Lin Sandie had ruined Tree's last card. He sighed helplessly. "You've forced me to change some rules I didn't want to change."

As soon as Tree finished speaking, the dark green light particles reassembled with a determined posture. At the same time, all the Remnants in Leviathan disintegrated into dark green light particles and vanished into the air.

All the special states maintained by the Remnants also disappeared in that instant, including Tree, who had been trapped in the Island.

Lin Sandie was drenched in the blood that sprayed from Lou's severed neck. She stared blankly for a long time before gently pushing Lou's body away and sitting up. She gazed at the blood-soaked snow, unable to come back to her senses for a long while.

Her originally soft and delicate features now looked as if someone were constantly rubbing them with an eraser. Even though killing Lou was what Pie had ordered, even though she knew it was for Lou's own good, in Lin Sandie's heart, she knew she had done something unforgivable.

When they first entered Disorder Land, Lou had joked with her about setting a bottom line, saying that Lin Sandie's bottom line could be "don't hurt the adorable Lou Lou."

Lin Sandie hadn't said it out loud, but in her heart, she had always held that as her bottom line. And now, she had completely destroyed it.

Lin Sandie had become a monster.
