Chapter 192

When Tang Qiu and Lucille emerged from the Blood Domain, only Reese was left outside. On the ground lay the desiccated corpses of the bishops. Reese was listlessly checking the Space Gems on the bodies. When she saw Tang Qiu, she tossed a gem aside with a bored expression. Her gaze drifted between Tang Qiu and Lucille as she teased, “It took a Royal werewolf and a 4th generation vampire way too long to deal with a few terrified bishops.”

Tang Qiu straightened her slightly disheveled clothes. In response to Reese’s jibe, she replied with a composed expression, “They were elites of the Holy See, after all. Hard to deal with.”

Reese chuckled, feeling a bit helpless at Tang Qiu’s natural ability to lie. She shook her head, her gaze shifting to Lucille beside her.

The red-haired vampire hadn’t spoken a word since she appeared. Her features were exquisite, her expression icy, and her entire being exuded an air of keeping others at a distance. Only when she looked at the golden-haired bishop did her eyes show a flicker of emotion.

This was the first time Reese had seen Lucille, and she was momentarily stunned by her delicate features. She looked Lucille up and down with great interest, raised an eyebrow, and said to Tang Qiu in a meaningful tone, “So, it’s a beautiful knight.”

Tang Qiu glanced at Reese and let out a low laugh, not refuting the comment.

They had been out for quite some time and it was time to head back. Tang Qiu turned her head and said softly to Lucille, “We should go back.”

Lucille acknowledged with a hum. After staring at Tang Qiu for a moment, she reached out and fastened the top button of her collar, which had come undone, before turning and disappearing into the darkness.

A faint smile touched Tang Qiu’s lips. After watching Lucille leave, she walked over to Reese. “Let’s go.”

Reese glanced in the direction Lucille had disappeared. “Is it alright for her to stay nearby?”

Speaking of which, the auras of the two vampires around Tang Qiu were a bit strange. Even with Reese’s strength, she couldn’t sense any dark aura from them.

“It’s fine.” Tang Qiu pulled up the hood of her cloak and said softly, “No one from the Holy See will discover her.”

“Oh?” A thought stirred in Reese’s mind. She walked alongside Tang Qiu for a while, attempting to probe into Lola’s background. “I just noticed something strange.”

Tang Qiu turned to meet Reese’s gaze and asked, “What is it?”

“I just saw that little dog I saved at the Bill Church,” Reese said, observing Tang Qiu’s expression. Seeing no unusual reaction, she added with a smirk, “She’s a 4th generation vampire now. Isn’t that strange?”

“You ran into Lola?” Tang Qiu thought for a moment, then explained with a smile, “Her constitution is rather special. She can increase her strength by consuming blood.”

She understood Reese’s character, so she wasn’t afraid to tell her this. Being overly secretive would only arouse her curiosity, and it would be bad if it led to any misunderstandings.

Just as Tang Qiu expected, Reese was merely surprised to hear about Lola’s special constitution and had no other thoughts. “Oh? So, does that mean she has a chance to reach the 3rd generation?”

“Theoretically, yes.”

“Then she’s in for a treat for a while.” Reese put the bracelet from her wrist back into her Space Gem and said nonchalantly, “The Holy See has so many useless people. It’s a waste to just kill them. Let’s feed them all to her.”

Tang Qiu glanced at her, shaking her head with a smile. “She’ll definitely be grateful to you.”

To be able to feast on the blood of bishops for every meal—not even the 3rd generation elders in the Blood Domain enjoyed such treatment.

According to the Holy Son’s orders, Reese was responsible for the Gosse Empire, one of the three great empires, which happened to be Tang Qiu’s territory. By deliberately slowing their pace, the journey from the Holy See’s nation to the Gosse Empire would take over ten days, providing ample time to get many things done.

Just as Tang Qiu had promised Reese in the Holy See’s nation, once they were outside its borders, she would take care of all of Cambecus’s remaining subordinates.

After Tang Qiu secretly eliminated the people on Reese’s list who were part of her contingent, she then turned her attention to Vogt’s and Bruce’s teams.

Without a doubt, the roaming dark creatures and the ubiquitous dark arrays provided the perfect cover for Tang Qiu, Lucille, and the others.

The number of appointment letters in Reese’s hands dwindled day by day, and the Holy Son finally received messages from Reese, Vogt, and Bruce, reporting that they had been ambushed by dark creatures on the road. Although the letters stated that the casualties were not severe, the Holy Son still felt that the authority of the Holy See had been challenged.

“Damn Black Witches.” The Holy Son crumpled the parchment into a ball and threw it on the floor, his face dark. “We must show them the power of the Holy See.”

Gabriel, who had been traveling with the Holy Son, bent down to pick up the crumpled paper. He unfolded it and scanned it quickly, his brow furrowing imperceptibly as he sensed something was amiss.

“Gabriel,” the Holy Son said, his right hand clenched into a fist on the table, his expression flat. “Have the troops stop nearby. We’ll destroy a few dark arrays first to teach the Black Witches a lesson.”

He could no longer wait to go and support the three great empires and nine principalities.

Gabriel folded the parchment and nodded slowly. “I will make the arrangements, Your Highness the Holy Son,” he said in a deep voice.

After leaving the Holy Son’s carriage, Gabriel ordered the waiting Holy Knights to find a nearby city to make camp. Their journey had taken them through small and medium-sized countries, so they had only eliminated wandering monsters along the way and hadn’t dealt with any dark arrays.

The roadsides were clean, without a single monster in sight, but a foul stench permeated the air. Gabriel returned to his own carriage and stared out the window, lost in thought. The carriage door was pushed open from the outside, and Abel walked in with a grave expression.

“Have you investigated it clearly?” Gabriel asked in a low voice, glancing at Abel.

Abel was silent for a moment before answering, “For now, we can’t confirm whether the ones who ambushed Archbishops Reese, Vogt, and Bruce were Black Witches.” He paused. “But… I’ve discovered that Archbishop Reese has already begun to absorb Cambecus’s remaining forces.”

“Oh?” Gabriel asked faintly. “How much has she absorbed?”

Abel hesitated before stating a number.

Gabriel’s face instantly turned grim. He slowly crumpled the parchment he had been holding in his hand, his eyes darkening as he laughed in fury. “Good, very good.”

He had been traveling with the Holy Son precisely to make it easier to absorb Cambecus’s forces, but before he could even make a move, Reese had beaten him to it.

Gabriel’s thoughts turned slightly, and he knew who was helping Reese in the shadows. He sneered and said, one word at a time, “I really underestimated Phoenix.”

That woman had some nerve.

But how was Reese clearing out Cambecus’s subordinates so quickly?

Gabriel couldn’t figure it out. Abel vaguely guessed the truth, but he merely frowned and lowered his head, feigning ignorance.

The atmosphere in the carriage grew silent. Only the crisp sound of Gabriel’s fingers tapping on the table brought the nearly frozen air back to life. He closed his eyes slightly and spoke in a calm tone, “The person I asked you to place in Reese’s team last time, have you done it?”

Abel nodded. “It’s been arranged.”

Gabriel grunted in satisfaction. “Very good. Reese gave me a surprise, so I must give her one in return.”

“Such deep sisterly love, isn’t it…” Gabriel’s lips curled into a low laugh, but his eyes were exceptionally cold. “Then let me see just how far she’s willing to go for this sister of hers.”

“She’d better not disappoint me.”

The overly peaceful Holy See was truly boring him. Gabriel propped his head on one hand, a thought occurring to him, his gaze deepening. Let him be the one to stir these placid waters into chaos.

Gosse Empire.

Erin, wrapped in a large black robe, pointed at various spots on the map on the table. “We’ll start with these dark arrays. Once we destroy them and have people keep an eye on them, we can reclaim a large swath of territory in the Gosse Empire.”

Having studied the situation in the Gosse Empire for a month or two, Erin had already formulated a plan, just waiting for the Holy See to send a Red-robed Archbishop for support. The thought of temporarily suppressing the darkness in the Gosse Empire made her voice rise an octave with excitement. “I’ve been controlling the evolution of these few dark arrays. With a Red-robed Archbishop leading the charge, we can definitely destroy them.”

As she spoke, she kept stealing glances at Reese, who was sitting to the side. However, Reese seemed uninterested. Disappointed, Erin could only look expectantly at Tang Qiu.

Tang Qiu carefully examined the locations Erin pointed out and nodded slowly. “We’ll proceed according to your plan.”

Erin was a little happy. She rolled up the map and trotted out, saying as she went, “Then I’ll go discuss it with Jennifer.”

During her time in the Gosse Empire, she had become quite familiar with Jennifer and Karen.

Reese glanced at Erin’s retreating back and said with a peculiar expression, “What’s with this Black Witch?”

She seemed more concerned about dispelling the forces of darkness than someone from the Holy See.

“No one can choose their identity,” Tang Qiu said softly, picking up the cup in front of her and taking a sip of water. “Erin would rather be a cleric.”

The closed door creaked open, and a small head peeked in, looking around. When the child saw Tang Qiu, her eyes lit up, and she ran inside happily.

Reese turned her head at the sound, a flash of surprise on her face. She watched Kama run to Tang Qiu’s side, looking her up and down. Her gaze lingered on the girl’s silver hair and golden eyes as she said thoughtfully, “Is this the God Race descendant you mentioned?”

Tang Qiu patted Kama’s head and nodded at Reese. “Her name is Kama. I found her in the Earth Mother’s palace.”

Kama hugged Tang Qiu’s waist, her big eyes staring unblinkingly at Reese, her face full of curiosity.

Reese looked at her for a moment, then reached out and pulled her over. “Do you know Phoenix?” she asked with a smirk.

Kama put her hands behind her back, her eyes darting around, but she didn’t respond.

Tang Qiu reminded Reese, “She can’t speak.”

Can’t speak… Reese was a little surprised. She sized Kama up again, then pushed her back. “If you can’t speak, then never mind.”

She was about to withdraw her hand when Kama grabbed it. Reese looked at her quizzically. Kama hesitated for a moment, then tentatively tried to hold her hand.

Reese instinctively wanted to refuse, but in the end, she didn’t pull away. She took Kama’s small hand and clicked her tongue, complaining, “Can’t your race change this habit?”

She really didn’t want to hold the hand of another God Race descendant.

Tang Qiu rested her chin on her hand and looked at Reese, asking curiously, “What did she show you?”

Reese released Kama’s hand. Under Kama’s expectant gaze, she pursed her lips and said, “She wants to see Phoenix.”

Kama nodded rapidly, pressing her hands together and looking at Reese pitifully.

Reese averted her gaze and said flatly, “I’ll send a letter back.”
