Returning - Chapter 47

Chapter 47: Premeditation

While Xue Zi'ang was at the hospital keeping his grandfather company, Zhao Yu also went to see the psychologist Ji Sui had recommended.

Of course, the person who appeared before the psychologist was still that masked version of Zhao Yu.

She trusted no one, and even less dared to hope a psychologist could truly help her. She was merely putting on a complete show to avoid leaving any cracks for Ji Sui to notice.

"Thank you so much, Dr. Zeng. I've put you to too much trouble."

"It's my duty, no need for such courtesy."

After glancing at the bag of medication Zhao Yu had retrieved, Zeng Xu carefully went over the usage and dosage with her once more. Only after she left the consultation room did he dial Ji Sui's number.

"Rest assured, her issues aren't severe. Mainly insomnia, coupled with overthinking and excessive worry. Young people caught up in love, especially young women, are very prone to these symptoms. I've prescribed her medication. Insomnia I can treat, but a broken heart? I'm truly powerless there."

"Many thanks."

Zeng Xu chuckled. "Caring about her so much, you're not just ordinary friends, are you? She has a boyfriend, you know."

Ji Sui's tone was calm. "I just think she's pitiful, wanted to lend a hand."

"Oh..." Zeng Xu drew out the final syllable, the implication unmistakably suggestive. "If you're going to help, why not go all the way? Just steal her away. It's not like that boyfriend of hers is any good anyway, tormenting a nice young woman like that. If you pried her loose, it would count as a meritorious deed."

Ji Sui ignored his teasing, saying flatly, "Hanging up. I'll treat you to dinner another day."

That bag of quite expensive imported medication naturally never made it into Zhao Yu's apartment. She tore the packaging apart midway, found a secluded spot, and tossed the whole bundle directly into a trash can.

She had taken plenty of insomnia medication before, stuff with harsher side effects and in larger doses than these. But now, she no longer needed it, and she couldn't let Xue Zi'ang find out.

By the time Xue Zi'ang arrived at her apartment, it was already past eight in the evening. He had been busy lately and frequently had to stay at the hospital, signs of weariness unusually apparent on his face.

"Have you had dinner?"

Seeing him nod, Zhao Yu walked over, knelt on the sofa beside him, and naturally began massaging his shoulders, her voice gentle. "Then rest a while, take a shower, and sleep early."

Xue Zi'ang grasped her hand and pulled her smoothly into his arms. "I've been neglecting you lately."

Zhao Yu smiled. "What are you talking about? I feel like I've been utterly useless recently, unable to help with anything at all."

Xue Zi'ang cupped her face and kissed her lips. "You've already helped me so much. Every time I come here, I feel completely rejuvenated."

Zhao Yu pressed her lips together, stifling a grin. "I don't believe you."

"Then what must I say for you to believe me?" Xue Zi'ang kissed her lips again, but this time it wasn't a brief taste. His tongue pried open her teeth and swept inside, powerfully sucking on her tongue, licking every corner of her mouth.

Zhao Yu lay against his chest, responding passionately. Gradually, her entire body was laid flat, his fiery form pressing down on her. Through her clothes, he gently kneaded her breasts. "Now, do you believe me?"

Zhao Yu scolded coyly, "Rogue."

"Isn't this exactly how you like a rogue to treat you?" In a few moves, Xue Zi'ang had stripped away her loungewear. His large palm pushed aside her bra, stroking her pale, tender breasts one after another.

Zhao Yu caught his wrist. "Aren't you already very tired?"

"Underestimating me?" Xue Zi'ang gave her nipple a fierce pinch, then nudged her lower abdomen with the half-hard thing between his legs. "Even tired, I can fuck you to tears."

He paused, then added with a wicked grin, "Call it stealing a little energy from you."

Zhao Yu giggled and swatted him playfully, but her hands also began sliding down his tight, firm waist and abdomen, unfastening his trousers to grasp that increasingly rigid shaft and stroke it back and forth.

"Baby." Xue Zi'ang groaned hoarsely, burying his head against her chest to suckle greedily at her breasts. His long fingers pushed aside her underwear and squeezed into her entrance, wantonly stirring up a wave of slick arousal before pressing down on her clitoris and rubbing vigorously.

Zhao Yu twisted her waist and moaned, her legs actively wrapping around his waist, pulling that fully erect member toward her core.

Xue Zi'ang thrust his hips, his massive organ breaking through layers of flesh walls, driving deep inside. He pounded fiercely against her cervix a few times, then withdrew, beginning a rhythm of deep and shallow thrusts.

When that fierce battle reached its conclusion, both were panting heavily. Xue Zi'ang, having gone days without her, still felt unsatisfied. He clamped her waist, made her kneel on all fours on the sofa, and launched another round of violent assault.

After several climaxes, Zhao Yu was completely limp and drained of strength, lying drenched in fragrant sweat on the sofa, gasping for breath.

Xue Zi'ang held her from behind, sucking on her earlobe, shoulder, and neck. "In another couple of days, Grandfather should be able to leave the hospital. Once his condition is more stable and he can speak, I'll take you to meet him."

Zhao Yu's body stiffened.

Xue Zi'ang felt it and kissed her bare shoulder again. "Don't be afraid. Grandfather is a very kind man."

Zhao Yu turned around and stared at him blankly. "You mean..."

The shock on her face at this moment wasn't entirely feigned.

Although she had vaguely guessed this day would come from Xue Zi'ang's usual attitude, now that he had actually spoken the words, she still found it somewhat unbelievable.

Xue Zi'ang smiled and pinched her cheek. "Why that expression? Taking my girlfriend to meet the family, isn't that perfectly normal?"

"Girlfriend?" Zhao Yu repeated timidly. "Are you sure?"

"What else? We've been together so long, what do you think you are to me?"

"Just... an assistant, I guess." Zhao Yu gave a self-deprecating smile, looking at him with a face full of nervousness. "Maybe it's better not to go? Your family surely wants you to find a girlfriend of matching status. I..."

"It's fine. You're with me, and hasn't my uncle said nothing about it? My mother knows too, and she's never once asked questions. Don't worry, I make my own decisions."

Zhao Yu bit her lip, pondering for a long time before whispering, "Then... then let's go a bit later. It's still too soon now. How long have we even been together?"

"Any later and it'll be the New Year." Speaking of this, Xue Zi'ang suddenly laughed again. "Actually, that's not a bad idea. It'll be the New Year by then. You're all alone anyway, with no companion for the holidays. This year, come home with me."

"How can that be? The New Year is far too grand an occasion. I... then let's go before the New Year. I need to go back and spend the holiday with my godparents."

"Fine, then..." Xue Zi'ang thought seriously for a moment, then said, "How about the day of the Kitchen God Festival? That day is Grandfather's birthday. I'll take you to join the festivities."

The Kitchen God Festival?

Something instantly flashed through Zhao Yu's mind. She remembered that Xu Miao's wedding date was set for the day before the Kitchen God Festival.

Looking at the man smiling at her so gently, she suddenly very much wanted to know exactly how much weight she, this stand-in, truly held in his heart, and whether that weight was enough for her to abandon Xue Zhan and directly rely on Xue Zi'ang from now on.

Although she had decided long ago to use Xue Zi'ang to get close to Xue Zhan, and had been diligently trying to learn about Xue Zhan from him ever since they got together, she had no real confidence in successfully securing Xue Zhan. Yet Xue Zi'ang's regard for her seemed higher than she had anticipated.

If Xue Zi'ang cared about her enough, then perhaps, she could consider making a different, more stable choice.

"The Chairman's birthday... how lively would that be? For me to go... wouldn't it be inappropriate?"

Before Xue Zi'ang could answer, Zhao Yu added, "How about we go a day early? On the actual birthday, there'll be too many people, and I'm a little scared. We could offer our blessings in advance. I think the Chairman would understand."

"Fine, we'll go a day early then." Xue Zi'ang poked her forehead, amused. "And why are you still calling him Chairman? Call him Grandfather."

Zhao Yu stuck out her tongue at him, equal parts happy and shy. "Oh."
