Monster - Chapter 107
Chapter 107: Thriller Paradise - Excuses
"Lin Sandie!" In the pouring rain, a furious warning echoed from somewhere in the wilderness of Disorder Land. However, the soft, southern-accented female voice quickly dissipated into the rainy night.
Inside the car, Lin Sandie, sitting in the back seat, pressed her lips together and leaned back, avoiding Lou, who was draped over her lap.
She was only wearing a camisole, and now one of the straps had fallen off, revealing her delicate collarbone, which rose and fell slightly with her breathing.
"It's too cramped in here, and it smells like blood," Lin Sandie said, her face slightly flushed.
"You kiss me every time! You tease me every time!" Lou accused her resentfully. Her usually lively eyes were slightly red from desire. Sitting on Lin Sandie's lap, she grabbed the other woman's wrists, forcing Lin Sandie to look at her.
"You need to take responsibility for me!" In the dim light of the car, Lou's eyes still shone with a piercing, beast-like intensity.
Lin Sandie's throat bobbed a few times. Instead of retreating, she advanced, leaning her body against Lou's chest and resting her chin on her shoulder. She coaxed softly, "Be good~"
"I don't want to be good! I want you to want me!" Lou wasn't falling for it this time; Lin Sandie had placated her with nonsense like this before. "Now! Immediately! Right away!"
Lou deftly used her shoulder to push Lin Sandie's chin away. She let go of Lin Sandie's wrists and instead cupped her face, forcing their eyes to meet.
She seemed to think Lin Sandie had no resistance to her face and was determined to make her look directly at her.
Lin Sandie's face grew redder. She wrapped her arms around Lou's waist and cleared her throat. "I think we should wait for a better time for this kind of thing. The enemy's main camp is just ahead. This isn't the moment…"
"Then why didn't you think about the enemy's main camp being right in front of us when you were kissing me?" Lou glared at Lin Sandie mischievously.
"That's different. When I see how cute you are, I can't control my urge to kiss you." To evade the question, Lin Sandie said things she normally wouldn't.
"Well, my desire to take things a step further right now is the same as that uncontrollable feeling of yours. So you should be considerate of me, too."
Hearing this, the corners of Lin Sandie's mouth curled up uncontrollably. Her smile grew wider and wider until she was covering her face, doubled over with laughter in Lou's arms.
"What's so funny?!"
"How can you be like this? Who taught you to talk like that?" Lin Sandie's face was completely red from laughing.
"…Isn't it because you keep teasing me but never make a move? People like you, in other Tower Worlds, they'd throw you into a pig cage, you know?"
Lin Sandie burst out laughing again. After a while, she said, "Even though we've been through a lot, did you know we've actually known each other for less than two months?"
Lou gasped. "So you're the type who needs to wait a certain amount of time for this sort of thing?"
"Ahem, something like that."
"Then how long do you think we need to know each other before we can take the next step?"
"…Half a year?" In any case, not now.
Lou sighed. She looked at Lin Sandie, then lowered her head helplessly. When she looked up at Lin Sandie again, her eyes were already filled with tears, as if she were acting.
"Sob… Am I not attractive to you at all?" Tears began to stream from Lou's eyes. She lowered her head again, and her tears fell drop by drop onto Lin Sandie's camisole as she cried her heart out.
"D-do you know how embarrassing it is for a 0 to always have to be the one asking a 1 to make a move on them…"
"Hahahaha!" Lin Sandie laughed even louder.
"Screw you!" Lou's tears stopped instantly. She angrily pushed Lin Sandie's shoulder.
Seeing that Lou was genuinely angry, Lin Sandie quickly hugged her tightly, trying hard to suppress her laughter.
With that embrace, the inside of the car gradually fell silent.
"Officer Xing said you once killed someone because their technique was bad. Is that true?" Lin Sandie leaned against Lou's shoulder, her nose taking in her scent. She had never told Lou this, but she actually really liked the fragrance of her body. A faint smell of blood still lingered in the car, and for some reason, she felt it suited Lou, who killed as easily as drinking water.
"Is that why you're hesitant?" Lou asked warily.
"Not really. Besides, I haven't cut my nails."
"If you make another excuse, I'm really going to get angry," Lou warned sullenly. Even if she bought Lin Sandie anything she needed from the points mall right now, she probably still wouldn't touch her.
Lou was genuinely starting to feel embarrassed. She had thrown herself at Lin Sandie to this extent, yet Lin Sandie remained completely unmoved. In this world, perhaps only Lin Sandie could make her feel this rare sense of shame.
"Mm." Lin Sandie closed her eyes, her arms just lightly wrapped around Lou's waist. Her face was filled with affection, but Lou couldn't see it.
Lin Sandie knew she could never compare to Lou's former "Blade Sheath," but what could she do? She wasn't willing to give up on Lou, so she could only try her best in her own way.
What she could do was use this time they were traveling together to leave the deepest possible impression on Lou, with the greatest effort and in the least deliberate way.
She deliberately hid the injury on her back. Even though the pain was bone-deep, she insisted on acting as if nothing was wrong, all so that in this moment, Lou would feel a little sorry for her and apply medicine for her.
She was clearly not indifferent to Lou's advances, yet she had to pretend to be old-fashioned and restrained.
She really did want to string Lou along, to make her think that she could actually refuse her. This included rejecting her initial proposal to enter Disorder Land together, which resulted in her being fitted with the 'Scorpion' by the Rose Society… At some point, everything Lin Sandie did regarding Lou had become tinged with her own selfish motives. This became her crime and punishment; while Lou felt sorry for her, she had to face the 'Scorpion' that constantly devoured her emotions.
She just wanted Lou to see her in a slightly different, more impressive light, yet it was so difficult.
But this was all Lin Sandie could do, because Lou was truly too distant from her. Different worlds, different experiences. To get closer to Lou, she could only be cautious and take one careful step at a time.
"The reason I killed Cheng Lina was because she had already mutated into a monster. Plus, she had gone astray and was planning to blackmail people. She would have killed someone sooner or later," Lou explained briefly.
"Besides, someone with such bad technique who's a straight woman pretending to be a lesbian to scam people is better off dead."
"Oh…"
"I'm guessing your technique isn't that great either, since you've only ever been in a relationship with one person," Lou started chatting idly with Lin Sandie. Once she relaxed, she would say anything. "But don't worry, even if you're no good, I won't kill you."
"I'm not 'no good'," Lin Sandie frowned. She was confident she could make Lou show the expression she wanted to see.
"Is that so? I thought you were just not confident in yourself, and that's why you were unwilling to take the next step with me." Lou used a goading tactic, a sly grin on her face.
"…You just wait." Lin Sandie tightened her grip on Lou's waist for a moment before letting go, refusing to fall for Lou's goading.
"Hmph, I'll wait then, you annoying woman." Lou sat on Lin Sandie's lap, her hands behind her, playing with her long pink hair. "Anyway, I can stay in Leviathan for two years. During these two years, Little Crow and I will do our best to help you enter the Main World."
"How does one qualify to enter the Main World and become a Guide?"
"Two conditions. One is to participate in a relevant mission being carried out by a team that has entered a Tower World. You're fine on that front, because you're with us now, which is equivalent to participating in the mission against 'Tree'."
"The second condition is to pass the test of the god who assigns us our missions. The one who gives us missions is a Main God from the Main World. Her code name is: Pie."
"A code name? Are Main Gods originally Sentinels or Guides?" Lin Sandie asked strangely. It was hard to imagine that gods actually existed, as she had always been an atheist.
It was just that she had encountered so many things recently—monsters, magical items, and an existence like "Tree"—that she had forgotten that gods might actually exist in the world.
"Yes~ Pie is a very good god. She is the existence I respect the most."
Lin Sandie recalled Miu the crow once rambling to her about Lou being the Main God's successor and complaining that it would be the end of the world, and so on.
"Will you become a god in the future, too?"
"I don't know. I'll let nature take its course."
"Mm… Speaking of which, why hasn't Crow Lady returned yet?"
