CA - Chapter 183
Chapter 183
After Cambecus escaped using a teleportation scroll, Sela and the others were completely isolated and helpless. They were already struggling against two fourth-generation Gangrel vampires, let alone the subsequent siege by the werewolves.
So, by the time Tang Qiu, Lucille, and the others returned, Sela and the vampires she had brought with her had all lost their ability to fight.
A third of Cambecus’s guards had managed to survive the chaotic battle, but with Mario and his men guarding the perimeter, even the survivors couldn't escape capture.
Just as Tang Qiu had ordered, Mario didn't let a single person go.
Before Tang Qiu returned, not only were Sela and the other vampires being watched by the werewolves, but Mario and his men also "enjoyed" the same treatment. Although Mario didn't know what was happening, he remained calm enough to try mentioning the blonde bishop's name. Sure enough, the werewolves' surveillance on them eased.
Just who was this blonde bishop? Mario gazed at Tang Qiu, who was surrounded by werewolves and vampires, his expression complicated. He had to return and report to Archbishop Reese as soon as possible.
When Tang Qiu had agreed to Reese's request to let Mario and his men accompany her, she had already decided to reveal her hand to Reese. That was why she didn't avoid Mario while communicating with the werewolves and vampires.
Tang Qiu had long anticipated Mario's reaction and didn't mind it. Lucille and the other Gangrel vampires were discussing how to deal with Sela and her group. As a werewolf, it wasn't appropriate for Tang Qiu to get involved. Although Lucille wouldn't mind, Beth and the others would certainly be on their guard.
The relationships between different races were never that harmonious to begin with.
Even the werewolves had cautiously retreated to a safe area after Lucille and the other Gangrel vampires appeared.
After sending Karen to assist Mario in dealing with Cambecus's guards, Tang Qiu took Erin to find Jemma and the others.
Gray and white wolves were gathered in small groups, lying on the ground. Jemma and Eva stood among the pack, their gazes fixed on Tang Qiu. The former was more blatant, while the latter was more reserved.
Seeing Tang Qiu walk toward them, Jemma's pouting face brightened in an instant. She ran over to greet Tang Qiu, "Grace."
Werewolves should stick with werewolves. Jemma had been a little down when she saw Tang Qiu go straight to the vampires after returning.
Tang Qiu raised a hand to stop the charging Jemma, preventing her from excitedly knocking over Erin, who was standing beside her. "Be careful."
With a werewolf's strength and speed, even a light touch would leave Erin with broken bones, if not coughing up blood.
The werewolves stood up and walked toward Tang Qiu, with Eva following slowly behind.
Tang Qiu glanced at the werewolves behind Jemma and asked with some curiosity, "Why aren't you in your territory?"
Judging by the speed at which Jemma and the others had arrived, they must have been nearby from the start.
"The Clan Leader sent us out for training." Jemma pumped her fist. "There are many demonic beasts near the border of the Gru Empire."
Combat would help the werewolves grow stronger. The arrival of darkness had unexpectedly given these young werewolves many opportunities for real-world battle.
Tang Qiu nodded in understanding. Noticing that a few of the werewolves were injured, she took out some Holy Water of Light from her Space Gem and gave it to Jemma, gesturing for her to distribute it among the wounded.
While Jemma was handing out the holy water, Eva, who had been standing on the periphery, suddenly looked at Tang Qiu and asked, "What are you doing here?"
She glanced at the vampires. "Are those vampires your friends?"
Tang Qiu shook her head slightly and replied with a smile, "They can only be considered allies with a common goal."
The main reason Beth and the others had left the Blood Domain with Lucille was to investigate the Tzimisce clan. If it was confirmed that their clan's third-generation elder had truly died at the hands of the Tzimisce, then the Tzimisce clan had better prepare to face the full wrath of the Gangrel.
Cambecus bringing Tzimisce vampires to ambush her this time was a blessing in disguise, a freebie for Beth and the others.
Tang Qiu took an envelope from her Space Gem and handed it to Eva, saying with a smile, "Speaking of which, I was just planning to visit your territory."
Your territory… Eva was not pleased with this phrasing. She took the envelope with a deadpan expression, opened it, and glanced inside. A flash of astonishment crossed her face; she hadn't expected it to be a personal letter from Clan Leader Faye.
Although she didn't understand why Tang Qiu, the young clan leader of the werewolves, was in the Holy See and spoke of Faye with such detachment, a young clan leader was a young clan leader. No matter her doubts, Eva's hostility toward Tang Qiu had already vanished.
She returned the envelope and said in a deep voice, "We will escort you back."
Tang Qiu smiled gently and thanked her softly, "Alright, thank you for your trouble."
Eva looked away. "It's nothing." She paused, feeling her tone was a bit flat, and added, "It's what we should do."
There was still some time before dawn, enough for Tang Qiu to make her appointment with the Wolf Race. Jemma transformed into her original form and volunteered to carry Tang Qiu and Erin.
The werewolves raced toward their territory at full speed. The night wind felt like little knives against their skin. Concerned for Erin behind her, Tang Qiu simply put up a barrier to block the biting cold wind.
Sensing the barrier's fluctuation, Jemma deliberately slowed down a bit. Watching her companions' figures recede into the distance, she spoke to Tang Qiu in a low voice, "Grace, are you really going back to the territory?"
Tang Qiu hummed in affirmation, finding Jemma's question strange. She asked, "What's wrong?"
Jemma said hesitantly, "Do you remember the royal werewolf you fought last time?"
"She's in the territory now."
The fight between the two royal werewolves had left Jemma trembling in fear, and the memory was still fresh in her mind.
The intensity of that fight made it clear they weren't just playing around.
Tang Qiu narrowed her eyes, not particularly surprised. Although Ophelia's injuries had been severe back then, they hadn't been fatal.
"Some of the older werewolves say she's Clan Leader Faye's sister," Jemma said with some worry. "Do you think she'll want to fight you again?"
Tang Qiu stroked the white wolf's neck and said with a smile, "I know. I'll be careful."
Jemma ran with Tang Qiu and Erin for a while longer. When the territory came into view, she spoke again, seriously, "If she fights you, I'll help you. Don't worry."
Tang Qiu was the young clan leader acknowledged by Faye herself. Although any royal werewolf could potentially become the clan leader, between Ophelia and Tang Qiu, Jemma chose to support the latter.
Upon entering the werewolf territory, the wolves dispersed. Eva was much older than Jemma, and she and Jillian managed most of the younger generation. As she led Tang Qiu to see Faye, she frowned at Jemma, who was sneaking along behind them.
Tang Qiu looked back, a faint smile in her voice. "Let her follow."
Otherwise, Jemma would be on edge until she left Faye's place.
Eva didn't say anything, but her expression was one of helplessness.
The temperature on the ice plain was low. Erin shivered from the cold despite holding the Light Ball Tang Qiu had given her. She was starting to regret coming to the werewolf territory with Tang Qiu, but staying in the Shas Principality with a group of vampires… she still felt it was better to be with Tang Qiu.
She sniffed and was about to ask Eva how much further it was when several red dots suddenly appeared in the vast whiteness ahead. Before Erin could make out who the red dots were, Tang Qiu, who was beside her, had already stopped.
The werewolves' excellent eyesight was enough for Tang Qiu to see the attire of the approaching group.
The red robes were exceptionally conspicuous against the snow. Having dealt with Black Witches many times, Tang Qiu recognized at a glance that they were wearing the robes of Red-robed Witches.
"Huh…" Erin also vaguely recognized them. She rubbed her eyes and muttered, "Am I hallucinating?"
"No, they are indeed Red-robed Witches," Tang Qiu said calmly. "But their aura feels a bit unfamiliar."
They weren't Anderson, nor were they Garcia. Even the dark aura around them wasn't very strong.
Eva frowned. She also didn't know why there were Black Witches in their territory.
In the span of a few breaths, the distant Red-robed Witches were in front of them. The leader was young and beautiful, but her hair was already white. Her ink-black eyes held a weariness and a profound depth that didn't match her appearance.
She first met Tang Qiu's gaze for a moment, then shifted her eyes to Erin and called out faintly, "Erin Anderson." Her voice was very deep, like the sound of a stone thrown into a dry well.
Erin was stunned for a moment, then exclaimed in surprise, "Elder Winnie."
Winnie nodded. "Can we talk?"
Erin hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Yes." She glanced at Tang Qiu. "But I need to tell my friend first."
Winnie understood and led the others to wait on the side.
"Who are they?" Tang Qiu glanced at the backs of Winnie's group. A thought occurred to her, and she said thoughtfully, "Black Witches from the Morgan Family?"
Not Anderson, not Garcia, which left only one answer.
But wasn't the Morgan Family reclusive? Why had they come out, and to the Wolf Race territory of all places?
Erin didn't know what they were doing in the Wolf Race territory either. She looked at Winnie and said quietly to Tang Qiu, "I met Elder Winnie when I was a child. She seems cold, but she's surprisingly nice."
"She even guided me in witchcraft when I was little."
Although Witch City was large, there were no barriers between the territories of the various families. It wasn't unusual for young witches to run around and end up in Morgan territory.
The Morgan Family was very mysterious. They ignored the older witches from the Garcia and Anderson families but were very friendly and kind to the young witches.
"Oh?" Tang Qiu blinked. "Is she mentally stable?"
Erin touched her nose, not entirely sure. "She should be, I guess."
The Morgan Family's Black Witches mainly studied witchcraft, which was much less dangerous than the Anderson and Garcia families. Besides, Erin didn't think they had any reason to capture her.
Tang Qiu thought for a moment and said, "I'll go see Faye by myself. Let Eva and Jemma stay here to protect you."
Eva, standing nearby, heard her name and nodded in assurance. "Okay, I will protect her."
This was the Wolf Race's territory. The Black Witches wouldn't dare to snatch a guest right in front of them.
