LWGP - Chapter 106
Chapter 106: Bloodthirst!
Perhaps many things in this world could be considered directly proportional. For instance, the shock and "amazement" Mei Qinghe's spellcasting posture brought to Wang Jiu and the others was matched by an equally amazing result.
A pale, frosty-blue ice spread over the Ogre's body with astonishing speed. As its limbs made contact with the Octopus King, the frost spread like a plague. With a crack, the ice climbing up from both sides sealed them together in an instant, like a perfectly matched button, freezing the two silver BOSSes solid.
Its terrifying aspect was this—the Ogre had thought to struggle, but the moment a thin layer of frost covered its body, it was completely immobilized, unable to let go of the Octopus King.
Its other terrifying aspect was this—the Octopus King had already entered a berserk state, yet it was frozen solid all the same.
An irresistible, domineering freezing effect. Absolute magical supremacy.
Seen in this light, even Mei Qinghe's worldview-shattering spellcasting method seemed to carry an unparalleled air of absolute dominance.
Wang Jiu had only one thought—This item and spell were probably meant to be used on me, weren't they? What have I done to deserve such an honor?
Fortunately, she had baited it out. She hadn't expected this damn thing to be so good at hiding, capable of lying low and acting subservient for so long.
But why were the items other people got like this, while the ones she got were either toilets or toilet plungers, and if not toilet plungers, then that… doi bed.
Wang Jiu was displeased, but her hands didn't slow down. After successfully freezing the two BOSSes, Mei Qinghe shouted, "Only five minutes! Attack now!"
Only five minutes? That was already a terrifyingly long control time for an item. The joint trap they'd set up before had only lasted eighteen seconds.
And this was complete control.
Everyone was thrilled, especially Mei Qinghe's team. They knew that while the bosses were controlled, Participation would continue to be calculated. Their damage output would stack, and they might just be able to catch up to Wang Jiu's group.
With that in mind, they began to unleash a frantic barrage of attacks. The other two teams naturally did the same.
Even the Tribal Chief was included. He hadn't expected these outsiders to have such a powerful trump card. Five minutes! It was a god-sent opportunity!
Attack!
The entire group, as if pumped full of adrenaline, focused completely on unleashing a mad torrent of damage.
The two poor BOSSes were frozen solid, able to do nothing but endure the group's assault.
During this time, Wang Jiu even spared some attention to do something else.
Back in the tribal village, with most of the people gone, the place seemed somewhat desolate. However, the old and weak villagers no longer needed to pretend and began to truly eat.
They gathered in the underground palace, carving meat and stewing it. The "food" imprisoned below was in a miserable state, the entire group on the verge of death.
No one noticed a small cockroach lying in wait.
Wang Jiu calculated that the seventy-eight people here were likely all the remaining combat power in the village. Compared to the tall, able-bodied young men, their strength was about thirty percent lower, but if they swarmed her, she couldn't take them down with just a small cockroach.
She needed help.
Or rather, she was waiting for an opportunity.
Wang Jiu looked at all the people in the cages. Soon, she locked onto one person.
He was one of the six unlucky members of Mei Qinghe's team, but this person's will was the clearest. A lot of flesh had been carved from his body, yet he could still endure the pain, his breathing steady. He would even occasionally observe the villagers who were cooking and eating meat, clearly possessing the strongest self-control.
The small cockroach crawled over, not touching the cage, but staying just outside it.
As expected, he noticed it. His gaze subtly shifted to the cockroach on the ground, which was hidden from the villagers' view by a few blades of grass.
A cockroach?
A glint flashed in Zhao Chen's eyes as he stared at the insect.
The small cockroach didn't waste any time. It moved silently across the ground, its crawling trajectory forming words to convey a message.
Zhao Chen received the message.
—When I make a move, follow my command.
Zhao Chen's breathing hitched for a moment. Was there finally hope of escaping and ending this hellish torment?
Who was it? Which Bodhisattva had heard their pleas of suffering and descended to the mortal realm to save them?
Zhao Chen had been imprisoned here for a day and a night and had long prepared for the worst. Seeing a sudden glimmer of hope, he naturally wouldn't let it go.
So he gave a slight, surreptitious nod.
After receiving his confirmation, Wang Jiu's attention returned to Rock Beach.
The Octopus King had only 2% of its health left, while the Ogre still had 80%.
Three minutes of freeze time remained. Wang Jiu suddenly said, "Don't take the Octopus King's life just yet. If it dies, its death might be credited to the Ogre that's biting it, or its flesh and blood might be directly absorbed into its body."
In truth, she had no experience in this area. She was relying entirely on her habitual caution and understanding of the System's usual bullshit rules to warn everyone.
The moment she spoke, she saw the teams of Mei Qinghe and Zhou Guican both shift their attacks, focusing all their output on the Octopus King.
Before making his move, Mei Qinghe glanced at his team's damage data. His heart sank a little.
Even with the freeze, his damage was only half of Wang Jiu's.
The gap was too wide!
But as long as he snatched the final blow, his Participation would increase dramatically. With a bit of maneuvering at the end, he could still turn the tables.
System: "Oho, this team leader of yours sucks."
Wang Jiu raised an eyebrow. "He does suck. I never expected them to listen anyway, so I was planning to…"
The System had an epiphany—she had warned them on purpose, waiting for them to "disobey" so she could do something?
The Tribal Chief saw the outsiders' movements and sneered inwardly. Ah, these humans. As expected, they have huge internal conflicts. They're about to fall apart.
It was about time to make a move.
Just as he was about to act, suddenly!
The instant those people attacked, Wang Jiu also made two moves. One, she took out the Sea Spirit Card and consumed it. Two, she kicked everyone out of the party.
Then… all three of her attributes were boosted by 160.
Now, Wang Jiu's attributes had changed completely.
Spirit Power: 500 (Permanent Spirit Energy: 1100)
Strength: 950
Agility: 1010
Stamina: 880
The buff effect lasted for half an hour.
These attributes were already comparable to a BOSS's, not to mention she also had Spirit Power. She was no weaker than any BOSS.
Wang Jiu immediately used Blood Wrath + Heavy Strike, a two-arrow attack. With two bangs, she blew away Mei Qinghe and Zhou Guican. As the others watched in horror, their attacks on the Octopus King hadn't even landed before they were stunned by wave after wave of Wang Jiu's attacks. Anyone hit was basically insta-killed.
She had slaughtered seventeen team members.
Oh, no, they weren't team members anymore, so she could attack them.
"Wang Jiu! You actually kicked us!"
"Wang Jiu, you dare!"
"Damn it! Wang Jiu, to do this just to steal the BOSS kill!!"
"Holy shit! She even killed Wang Shu and the others!!"
"She's crazy, crazy! This perverted Demon King!"
It wasn't just the stunned Mei Qinghe and the others lying dead on the ground; even the Tribal Chief and his men were shocked by Wang Jiu's actions.
So vicious, so brutal!
After the blood-soaked Wang Jiu had slaughtered everyone, some of their attacks landed on the Octopus King, but they only dealt 1% of its health in damage.
Without Wang Jiu's attacks, these people couldn't deal much damage. However, if Mei Qinghe and Zhou Guican had been included, it would have been a different story.
Unfortunately, those two were the first to be killed by Wang Jiu.
Amidst the angry curses and questions, Wang Jiu's boot stepped onto the chest of Mei Qinghe's corpse.
"You clearly begged to join my team, yet you wouldn't listen. You people are so impolite."
Mei Qinghe and the others were furious, accusing her of doing it for personal gain.
But Wang Jiu ignored them and turned to the Tribal Chief. "Did I scare you, Chief? Shall we continue fighting?"
The Tribal Chief composed himself, showing a worried and fearful expression. "I think Captain Wang's actions… Captain Mei and the others didn't really do anything wrong. But this is your team's business. The most important thing now is to fight this monster."
Wang Jiu certainly agreed, so she aimed her arrow at the Ogre and fired…
The moment she shot the arrow, Mei Qinghe and Zhou Guican's teams had arranged to get up at the same time to assassinate Wang Jiu. But before they could even rise, they saw the tribe's people collectively aim their attacks at Wang Jiu's back.
Whoosh! A dense volley of arrows shot out.
But they all hit empty air.
Wang Jiu used Shadow Step to dodge, throwing out four Puppet Cards with one hand to attack the Ogre, while her other hand flashed behind the Tribal Chief, striking him with her blade.
A 5% blood Blood Wrath.
Both were sneak attacks. Whoever had the better prediction and faster moves was the king!
The Tribal Chief hadn't expected Wang Jiu to be prepared!
Not good!
This single blow reached the level of the Octopus King's strongest attack.
Thud! Caught off guard, the Tribal Chief was sent flying, and the direction he flew was straight towards the Ogre.
The Tribal Chief realized Wang Jiu's intention and let out a terrifying howl in mid-air as he coughed up blood. At that moment, Wang Jiu had already activated her X-ray vision and saw the blood in his heart glowing.
Here it comes.
Was he going to transform and reveal his true form and strength?
But just as the blood began to surge to the surface of his body, Holy Light entered her. Wang Jiu, her health replenished, was already there. Her blade split the air, striking the Tribal Chief's chest at the precise moment the tide of blood was about to erupt.
A 20% blood Blood Wrath + Level 4 Heavy Strike to the heart.
With a loud bang like a collapsing building hitting the ground, the immense impact broke through the native's advantage and struck the Tribal Chief's core meridian.
It trembled, and the network of blood vessels in his heart fell into disarray.
The Tribal Chief failed to unleash his strongest power in mid-air. Instead, Wang Jiu had cut off his buff state, and then… bang!
He was slammed directly onto the Ogre.
The frost sealed him completely.
The freeze still had two minutes left, and it spread on contact.
He was frozen.
After landing, Wang Jiu didn't even glance at the corpses of Mei Qinghe and the others. She just spoke slowly.
"Darlings, don't get up."
"I'm saving you."
"His attacks drain HP. With your strength, you'd probably get up, fall down, and never get up again."
The members of Mei Qinghe's two teams, who had been planning to get up for a final counterattack, were shocked, still harboring a great deal of disbelief.
Mei Qinghe quickly inspected the Tribal Chief.
Even though the Chief's body was frozen, it was covered in a terrifying bloody power. Viscous blood coated his skin.
Under inspection, the Tribal Chief's attributes had changed drastically.
Island Nightmare Native Tribal Chief (Native Chief, Leader of a Tribe, has native advantage)
Strength: 1200
Agility: 1200
Stamina: 1200
Note: This racial leader has now become Bloodthirsty, one of the Bloodthirsty race creatures, and is hostile to all players.
Fuck! It's true!
When Mei Qinghe shared this information, the others felt a chill run down their spines.
Bloodthirsty Beast, Bloodthirsty race creature.
This was a terrifying existence that had made all pioneer-phase players turn pale even before the game had fully loaded.
Its attacks targeted HP. Once HP hit zero, you were permanently dead.
Could they withstand his attacks? Would they die the moment they got up?
By that logic, her killing them first really was saving them. Because once they were dead, the Tribal Chief could no longer attack their HP, and thus couldn't harm their true life force.
But he was frozen now.
Only one minute left.
"More than a minute. You probably understated it by a few minutes to give yourself a buffer, right, Balala? But I don't recommend you get up, because it's not just BOSSes who like to see players lying down."
"Actually, I like it too."
Wang Jiu spoke, attacking the Tribal Chief with her blade in one hand while slaughtering the tribal warriors with Flowing Light in the other.
Balala Mei Qinghe: "…"
To hell with your Balala!
Everyone else: "…"
They didn't know whether to tremble in fear of the Demon King or mourn for the scheming Balala who was still being completely dominated by the even more scheming Demon King.
But how did she know this secret in advance?
And another thing…
"Her team members seem to have all revived and gone back, leaving only that fatty still lying here."
Mei Qinghe was startled, as if a flash of lightning had just gone off in his mind.
At the tribal village, the moment Wang Jiu attacked the Tribal Chief, the small cockroach in the cavern below also made its move.
She attacked Zhao Chen in his cage. It didn't take much effort to kill the half-dead man. Not just him, but everyone else was frantically killed by her.
The old and weak tribe members naturally noticed and rushed over, but it was too late. Wang Jiu had already killed everyone. Zhao Chen and the others didn't hesitate to choose to revive at the resurrection point.
At the resurrection point, light descended. The first to revive, Zhao Chen, shouted at the dozens of people reviving behind him, "Into the cavern! Kill!"
"Kill!"
The group, who had been tormented for so long, was filled with murderous intent. They followed Zhao Chen and quickly descended into the cavern.
As they ran towards the thatched hut.
Light came.
Qiao Xuejing and the others, who had followed Wang Jiu's private message to revive immediately after being killed, saw Zhao Chen's group and followed them.
At this time, the small cockroach in the cavern had already taken flight, avoiding the tribe members' attacks. When Zhao Chen and his group arrived, it said, "You're here."
Zhao Chen and the others were exceptionally excited. As they madly slaughtered the tribe members, they responded gratefully to the small cockroach.
"Benefactor, we're here!"
"Don't worry, we were definitely coming!"
But the small cockroach replied in a cold voice, "I wasn't talking to you."
Huh?
Only then did Zhao Chen notice the people behind him. He turned to see Qiao Xuejing and the others.
The small cockroach said, "Kill the people first. After clearing them out, attack the altar. If you can't destroy the altar in five minutes, everyone will become that Bloodthirsty Chief's dinner."
Jiang Kaikai and the others of course knew the small cockroach's voice was Wang Jiu's. They hadn't understood what was happening at first and were utterly shocked when Wang Jiu had ruthlessly killed them. But soon, they were re-invited to the party and received her command in the party channel—revive, go back, and attack the cavern altar with the survivors.
The slaves couldn't resist, and Qiao Xuejing, Dao Dao, and the others revived and went back without a second thought.
But only now did they learn that the Tribal Chief was Bloodthirsty.
"Fuck! It's only the second day of the demon instance, and we're already facing Bloodthirsty creatures?" Jiang Kaikai cursed, voicing everyone's thoughts.
"No wonder she had to kill us all," Zhao Shanxiao said with a grave expression.
If she hadn't killed them, once the Chief went berserk, anyone other than Wang Jiu would have been permanently killed after just a few hits.
Was she trying to save them?
Not necessarily. It was also possible she wanted them to die and come back to help attack the altar, or maybe it was because they were still useful.
Wang Jiu's mind was too deep, impossible to see through.
In any case, she had indeed saved their lives this time.
"They're all dead. The altar!" Liao Luo didn't have so many thoughts. He quickly cut down the tribe members. Whether they were old and weak or children attacking them ferociously, he wiped them all out without a word.
Thirty seconds before the group began their combined assault on the altar, only a minute had passed since the Tribal Chief was frozen by Wang Jiu on Rock Beach.
Seeing Wang Jiu frantically attack the Tribal Chief with Holy Light, Blood Wrath, Flowing Light, and Heavy Strike, taking off 40% of his health, Zhou Guican and Mei Qinghe gritted their teeth and quickly got up to farm Participation.
There were still two minutes left. They could farm Participation for over a minute and then escape!
Fortune favors the bold!
But just as they got up, before they could even launch an attack, an unusual sound came from the frozen area. Crack! The ice shattered!
The Tribal Chief, with 60% of his health remaining, broke free. His body erupted with a violent, bloody aura, and a shockwave rolled out.
Before Mei Qinghe and the other man could react, they were enveloped by the shockwave…
Their HP plummeted!
Fuck!
Flee! Mei Qinghe and the other man activated Evasion and other movement-based class skills to dodge out of the shockwave's range.
In that brief moment, the shockwave had already devoured 10 points of their HP.
They only had a little over 20 HP in total!
The two were scared out of their wits. They fled from Rock Beach without looking back, shouting warnings to the others not to get up!
However, the fleeing pair was intercepted by the tribal warriors.
Fortunately, the Tribal Chief didn't pursue them, because his target was Wang Jiu, who had long since dodged the shockwave!
The Tribal Chief didn't even spare the two a glance. He stared at Wang Jiu and asked, "How did you know I was Bloodthirsty?"
He thought he had hidden it well, but now it seemed this outsider had seen through everything, including his secrets.
He was very confused.
"In the cavern, there are skeletons in those cages. The clothes on the skeletons aren't from here; they belong to us outsiders. But they didn't revive after death, and their skeletons are still there, which means they died permanently. I figured only Bloodthirsty creatures would have such an ability."
Wang Jiu gave the Tribal Chief a deep look. "Eating all of a person's flesh and blood and even draining their life force. This way of treating guests is even more impolite."
When she saw those cages, the thing that shocked her the most wasn't the altar, nor the secret of the native advantage, but those seemingly inconspicuous skeletons.
It was then that she knew the greatest difficulty of this dungeon had been revealed—the Tribal Chief was Bloodthirsty and could permanently kill players.
She had weighed all the factors before finally deciding to stay and clear this dungeon.
It was actually very risky.
But she had no intention of stopping.
"The cavern? You knew!" The Tribal Chief was also shaken, but his first reaction was—the altar!
The Tribal Chief subconsciously wanted to go back and protect the altar, but then he suddenly realized.
She was doing it on purpose.
She deliberately revealed that she knew the secret of the altar to make him rush back to save it, so she could have both BOSSes to herself.
Once she finished off the two BOSSes and took their resources, she could definitely kill him!
Just as the Tribal Chief had this epiphany, his HP suddenly fluctuated.
His HP fluctuated, but the other tribal warriors all coughed up blood.
The altar was under attack!!
The Tribal Chief was shocked and furious, feeling that his weak spot had been seized.
"Go back and save the altar!" After ordering the tribal warriors, the Tribal Chief solidified his blood into a crimson longblade and transformed into a blood-red shadow, charging at Wang Jiu to cut her down.
Mei Qinghe and the others weren't idiots. Seeing the tribal warriors heading back, they figured that altar must be incredibly important, so they turned around to intercept them.
Wang Jiu's intention was to draw these tribal warriors away, to keep them from getting in her way while she fought the Tribal Chief. Whether they were attacked by Mei Qinghe's group or not didn't matter, because by the time they ran back, either she would have been killed by the Chief, or the cavern altar would have been destroyed.
The Tribal Chief's blood blade slashed through the afterimage left by Wang Jiu's Shadow Step. He spun the blade and swung it at Wang Jiu's lower back.
But Wang Jiu had escaped.
Her current Agility of 1010 was a sliver higher than his, and with Shadow Step, she had the advantage in speed. She refused to engage him in close combat, pulling away and attacking him with Flowing Light and Heavy Strike.
She chipped away at his health bit by bit, but because of her high attack frequency, it quickly dropped from 60% to 40%.
The Tribal Chief was worried about the altar and grew extremely agitated, desperate to kill her. He pursued her relentlessly, but he simply couldn't hit her, and the bloody aura around him grew more and more violent.
But his speed was also increasing.
The sacrificial bloodline was truly terrifying.
Wang Jiu seemed a little worried. Her speed was being suppressed, and the distance she had created was constantly being closed by the Tribal Chief.
Suddenly, from ten meters away, the Tribal Chief raised his blade with one hand and swung the other. A long tendril of blood, like a skill being activated, whipped out towards Wang Jiu!
Danger!
Wang Jiu's pupils trembled. She activated Shadow Step. The afterimage was struck by the tendril and dissipated, but the surging blood aura touched her real body.
5 HP. She lost 5 HP.
It wasn't as much as Mei Qinghe and the others had lost, probably because her Stamina was much higher than theirs.
Wang Jiu quickly dodged the blood aura, but a shadow expanded in front of her. The Tribal Chief had arrived!
The charging Tribal Chief was filled with rage, eager to cut Wang Jiu down. He raised his blade high, bringing it down viciously on Wang Jiu, who had just used Shadow Step to dodge the blood aura…
Mei Qinghe and the others were about to watch Wang Jiu die, but to their surprise, a look of terror appeared on the Tribal Chief's face—because he saw a smile on Wang Jiu's face.
A cunning and cruel smile.
Then, in her eyes, he saw the ice three or four meters behind him crack open.
Damn it, the freeze time was up. She had deliberately lured him to this spot!
ROAR!!
The Ogre burst out, grabbing the Tribal Chief with its powerful arms and biting down on his head. Flesh and blood splattered, but it failed to bite his head clean off.
The Tribal Chief's attributes were also extremely high. Most importantly, his body was protected by blood, which had hastily solidified around his head like armor in the moment of crisis.
At this moment, Wang Jiu used her X-ray vision. She saw the blood flow in the Tribal Chief's heart was extremely rapid, and the halo of light within the blood was beginning to diminish. These halos were likely energy bodies. Was it bloodline energy?
If it was energy, it could be consumed.
This was probably his race's strongest talent, used for self-preservation. No wonder he was reluctant to use it earlier even after she had taken so much of his health.
The Ogre, of course, also knew this secret. Otherwise, the Octopus King lived underwater and had a home-field advantage, making it difficult to kill. But why hadn't it hunted this Tribal Chief, unless he was hiding in his village?
It was simply because it wasn't confident enough.
But now was different. This was a golden opportunity!
Because it was so sudden, the Tribal Chief was caught off guard. He only had time to hastily protect his head, but his body was ambushed by the Ogre. Under the terrifying pressure of its claws, the Tribal Chief's limbs were severely injured! His bones and flesh were nearly torn apart!
The Ogre didn't even care about the 1% health Octopus King next to it, because the Tribal Chief's flesh was far superior to the Octopus King's, and it would never get a chance like this again!
The Ogre abandoned the Tribal Chief's head and began to frantically gnaw on his other severely injured parts, as if trying to swallow him whole. His health dropped from 40% to 30% in an instant.
But the Tribal Chief was no pushover. The bloodline energy in his body surged wildly, quickly spreading throughout his body.
But! There was still Wang Jiu!
Just as he exhausted all his bloodline energy and was about to forcibly break free from the Ogre.
Wang Jiu moved!
Her left hand rose. The skill, Dissection. A brilliant white light, like the soft yet piercing lights of an operating room, peeled away in layers. It shot out from her five fingers and into his chest, into his heart, branding it. It became a rotating circular totem, filled with the intellectual and sacred radiance of surgery, as if saving a life from damnation, and then…
100 Spirit Power activated.
Thump!
The Tribal Chief heard his own powerful heart, the very thing he relied on for survival, beat. It was injured, having been heavily damaged by her several times before. It had been maintained and repaired by his energy, but now that energy was almost completely depleted, the injuries remained, a hidden danger.
Then, this sacred Dissection totem tempted it, causing it to erupt.
The moment the Tribal Chief heard his heart give a heavy beat, he felt as if it was about to explode.
Pfft!!
A huge mouthful of blood sprayed from the Tribal Chief's mouth.
As it sprayed out, he was critically injured! At the same time, Wang Jiu's right hand quickly unleashed a 10% blood Blood Wrath + Heavy Strike + Flowing Light.
Critical injury plus a critical hit!
30% instantly dropped to 10%.
The Tribal Chief's eyes were scarlet, almost dripping blood. The next second, he entered a berserk state.
The Ogre sensed it. It also sensed the terrifying killing power of the woman in front of it. The Tribal Chief was its food!
The Ogre grew anxious. It opened its cavernous mouth, intending to swallow the Tribal Chief in one bite.
Holy Light descended, a 15% blood Blood Wrath + Flowing Light + another Dissection!
This still wasn't enough to instantly kill the berserk Tribal Chief.
Unless… Hum!
The Tribal Chief felt the sound of the tribal altar in the distance collapsing.
It was over. The altar had been destroyed.
Mei Qinghe and the others heard a loud noise from the direction of the village. They turned to see a towering pillar of blood-red light shoot up from the village, releasing a halo of light.
The altar was KO'd?
A two-pronged attack. Her calculations were truly ruthless!
When the Tribal Chief felt his heart beat terrifyingly for a second time and directly enter a weakened state, he knew he was going to die!
He was unwilling!
With a shrill scream, the Tribal Chief's body exploded with a vast amount of blood aura, which expanded and swept over the Ogre and Wang Jiu.
It frantically devoured their HP.
"Die with me!!" At the moment he suffered the final, fatal blow, the Tribal Chief howled in rage and grief.
Mei Qinghe and the others heard the scream and saw both Wang Jiu and the Ogre being swallowed by the blood aura. The dying Octopus King, however, dragged its 1% remaining health and struggled to crawl away…
"She's a goner!"
"Wang Jiu is dead."
"She died after all."
The crowd couldn't say if they were happy or sad, but in any case… Get up! They all revived on the spot.
It was their time to shine!
The instant the crowd revived.
Bang!!
A stream of light shot out from the blood mist, striking the 1% health Octopus King.
The Octopus King, which had been sneakily trying to escape, twitched and then went still.
It was so hard. Its life was just so hard.
Beaten up by everyone the whole time!
And it still got killed in the end.
On the other side, after the blood aura swept past, a figure remained. One hand was chugging down an HP potion, while the other held a blade that heavily struck the head of the Ogre that had tried to sneak attack her.
Bang!!
The Ogre was sent flying four or five meters. After landing, it scrambled up. Since it hadn't killed the Octopus King or the Tribal Chief, their ownership didn't belong to it, and it couldn't devour their corpses. But they weren't the only things here that could help it evolve!
As long as it evolved, it could definitely crush this powerful outsider!
"Not good, run!!"
Zhang Qihan and the others, who thought they had seized an opportunity by reviving on the spot, were on the verge of a mental breakdown as they saw the Ogre charging at them.
But how could they possibly outrun the Ogre? In a single encounter, three or four people were grabbed and stuffed into its mouth.
Amidst the screams, half of the dozen or so people were dead in an instant.
They would have been better off just lying there!
Zhang Qihan and the others screamed miserably. Mei Qinghe and his companion were speechless with despair and could only charge forward.
Then, less than three seconds later, they were lying on the ground.
The entire time, Wang Jiu didn't help them. She watched coldly as they were all killed, and watched as the Ogre frantically devoured their corpses.
Then, she watched as a strange halo began to emanate from the Ogre's body, signaling its impending evolution.
The Ogre was thrilled. Amidst its excitement, it heard Wang Jiu's cool voice.
"You idiot. With just these few people, your energy core won't be full at all. You can't fully evolve."
Then, she gave a slight smile. "But you will enter a weakened state."
The Ogre, unaware that it had been completely seen through by Wang Jiu: "…"
