Evolution - Chapter 166

Chapter 166

Yunbao had been feeling super lonely and desolate lately.

A great big question puzzled its little head: why did over a billion people claim to be descendants of the dragon, yet when asked to show a little filial piety to their ancestor, they all pretended like it was nothing? Not a single one was willing to contribute even one bag of spicy snacks!

A hundred years, to Yunbao, was nothing more than a few naps. The spiritual energy had gradually recovered, making its sleep more and more comfortable. When it woke up again, the world had completely changed!

Yu Zhiyao and Ji Changqing had both reached the Core Formation stage.

It was normal for Yu Zhiyao to form her core, given her talent, but even a scrub like Ji Changqing had been carried along for the ride.

Oh, it had overheard He Yi secretly complaining about this to Shen Guiqing.

She said that scrub Ji Changqing, whenever she had a spare moment, would drag Yu Zhiyao into diligent dual cultivation, day and night. Not only had she left He Yi’s cultivation level far behind in the dust, but the most fatal part was that Yu Zhiyao spent so much time dual cultivating with her, which naturally meant she had to cut back on the time she spent doing scientific research with He Yi and the others.

In other words, Ji Changqing’s enthusiasm for dual cultivation, which Yu Zhiyao was happy to accommodate, had dealt a double whammy to He Yi!

A total scrub!

Yunbao agreed with this assessment. Hmph!

One time when it woke up, it saw Ji Changqing bullying Yu Zhiyao. The two of them were in Ji Changqing’s courtyard for many days straight. Aside from the occasional break to eat, Ji Changqing was almost constantly bullying Yu Zhiyao. Sometimes they were clothed, sometimes they weren’t. Ji Changqing was either on top of her, moving all over, kneading and pinching and biting, or pressing her against a table or a wall or somewhere, bumping into her again and again until Yu Zhiyao’s voice went hoarse.

Even with the hot spring that everyone had access to, she wouldn’t let Yu Zhiyao soak in peace, always making her cry in the water.

But when it told Chu Ci that Yu Zhiyao was being bullied to tears and must have been beaten until it hurt terribly, Chu Ci just patted its head with a strange expression.

She said they were cultivating and told it not to pass through the barrier to watch or listen to them when it had nothing better to do. It should be a quiet, pure little dragon.

Dragons were naturally able to pass through barriers; all formations and seals were like nothing in their eyes.

Later, when it woke up again, it discovered that Yu Zhiyao and Ji Changqing would immediately run off, leaving Lingyun Peak and not coming back to live there.

It must be because it tattled to Chu Ci!

Hmph!

So petty! And they held a grudge!

But why did Yu Zhiyao run away with that scoundrel Ji Changqing? It was clearly standing up for her, wasn't it?

Sigh, its sincere heart had ultimately been misplaced!

It sighed. Perhaps this was what those humans who wouldn’t even offer it a bag of spicy snacks meant when they said, “You can never wake a person who is pretending to be asleep.”

Ji Changqing bullied her, yet she was still so good to Ji Changqing. To accommodate Ji Changqing’s dual cultivation and help her improve her cultivation level, she had even neglected her work.

It figured Ji Changqing must be what everyone called a scumbag—living off a woman and still treating her poorly. And Yu Zhiyao was probably the kind of woman they talked about—silly and blind, suffering domestic abuse every day but refusing to leave the scumbag.

She even listened to the scumbag, running off the moment she was told to. This time, she hadn’t even bought it anything!

It cupped its face and sighed sorrowfully. It still quite liked Yu Zhiyao. After all, she was pretty, smelled nice, and was especially generous. Whatever it wanted, she would buy it.

It was exactly what humans called being “kept”!

It heard she used to be a president, so that would make it a little dragon kept by a domineering CEO.

It was just that Ji Changqing was particularly annoying and wouldn’t let Yu Zhiyao keep it. It had even secretly beaten her up once!

Last time, because Chu Ci told it not to meddle in their affairs, otherwise it would have charged in, kicked Ji Changqing over, and rescued Yu Zhiyao.

Losing the domineering CEO who kept it, Yunbao was still a little sad.

As it was sorrowfully sunbathing on the mountaintop, it suddenly saw a streak of silver fly through the mountains—a particularly beautiful little dragon.

Wow! It immediately grew excited, quickly revealing its true form but shrinking its size to match the little silver dragon’s. With a dive, it flew down. “Who are you? I’m Yunbao! Let’s play together!”

It wiggled its body, showing off the scales that Chu Ci had cleaned with her sword qi, displaying its fit and slender draconic form.

It had always wanted a little companion! This silver dragon, shimmering under the sun, every scale clean and beautiful, its entire body sparkling with a silver light that screamed “rich,” was the dream companion!

A tender voice, sounding like it was transitioning from a child’s to a young girl’s, came over. “Wow, you’re a dragon too! My name is Angela!”

“Angela!” Yunbao was overjoyed. It flew over and curiously rubbed its body against Angela’s. “How old are you? I’m almost seven thousand years old!”

“Wow!” Angela exclaimed in amazement. “I’m not even a hundred years old yet!”

Yunbao enthusiastically invited its new companion to sunbathe and play on the mountaintop with it. Angela was tempted but politely refused. “I can’t. I can only play here for a little while. Tasia will come looking for me soon.”

She pointed to the nearby peak where the Trial Study Pavilion was located. “She’s over there.”

Yunbao looked. “That’s the Trial Study Pavilion. I’ll take you to find her.”

The two little ones peeked around as they flew to the Trial Study Pavilion’s peak and transformed into human form together.

Yunbao now looked like a boy of about nine or ten, while Angela looked eight or nine. They were about the same size as most of the children at the Trial Study Pavilion and didn’t look out of place in the crowd at all. It was just that both of them were exquisitely carved from pink jade, so delicate and beautiful that the other children couldn’t help but steal a second glance as they passed.

Although Yunbao slept often and wasn’t awake for long periods, it had watched this place being built back in the day and knew its way around very well. Hearing from Angela that the person she was waiting for was here to enroll, it knew exactly where to wait.

The two little dragons in human form climbed a large tree from which they could see the entrance and exit of the Trial Study Pavilion, dangling their legs as they enjoyed the view.

Angela swung her legs, watching the entrance, and told Yunbao how they had ended up here.

“So that’s how it is. After Feren defeated Falanis, Feren took the lead and formed an alliance. The alliance headquarters is in Astral City. Astral City used to be my daddy’s, but, well, now it belongs to my mommy.”

“Later, some people said they were from the Star Alliance. They said that after Feren and Falanis united, they met the upgrade standard for a magical civilization planet and could join the Star Alliance.”

“My mommy said the people in the magical civilization planet alliance weren’t very nice and were boring, just fighting all the time. We heard that Blue Star has a research base for cultivation technology, and that Lingyun Peak and the Academy of Sciences welcome people from all systems to come study and research whether combining different systems could lead to a breakthrough.”

“Plus, my daddy was originally from Blue Star, so we came to take a look.” Although she didn’t know why there were so many different stories about her daddy’s identity—one moment he was from Falanis, the next from Blue Star.

“Tasia is super amazing! She got perfect scores on all of Lingyun Peak’s exams!”

Yunbao kept saying “Wow!” to express its amazement. It never thought its little companion would know so much! It said proudly, “Lingyun Peak was built by Chu Ci and the others, and the Academy of Sciences is managed by Yu Zhiyao!”

It hadn’t had as many rich experiences and didn’t know as much, but its backers were super awesome!

It scratched its head. “Back then, I found Yu Zhiyao and Ji Changqing and brought them to Chu Ci. After that, Chu Ci decided to come to Blue Star and, uh, started that cultivation technology thing you were talking about, right?”

It rambled on, showing off how amazing it was, and complained a little about its domineering CEO who had run off.

It described the situation to its little companion in detail.

Angela’s mouth fell open in astonishment, finding it hard to believe.

Yunbao felt as if it had received great validation. “Right? You find it unbelievable too, don’t you? Scumbags should be thrown in the trash where they belong!”

Angela didn’t know whether to nod or shake her head. She just found it unbelievable that Yunbao was so convinced it was domestic abuse.

But Yunbao quickly moved on. It waved its little hand in a circle. “All of this was built by everyone back in the day!” It then pointed to the peak where Chu Ci and the others lived. “We’ve always lived over there.”

“If you stay, I can let you live with me!” it said with great loyalty. Only the eight people from Lingyun Peak lived on that mountain. The entire back mountain belonged to it, so there was plenty of room!

Angela shook her head and said with the air of a world-weary adult, “I can’t live with you. I want to live with a pretty big sister!”

How could she just live with anyone? Just like how Daddy only lived with Mommy, in the future, she would also have to find a pretty big sister like Mommy to live with!

Rejected, Yunbao’s eyes filled with tears. “Why?”

Aren’t we companions and good friends?

Angela scratched her head in frustration. “Because I only like pretty big sisters!”

“Can’t you like me?” Yunbao was heartbroken. All it wanted was a fellow dragon companion to play with. Why was its fate so fraught with hardship?

Angela answered honestly, “I can’t.” She only liked pretty big sisters. Pretty little brothers were a no-go!

“Why?” Yunbao turned into a fountain of a hundred thousand whys, completely unable to understand why it couldn’t be a companion just because it wasn’t a big sister.

Angela said regretfully, “Because you’re a simpleton!”

It was such a big dragon, yet it saw two big sisters having a fairy fight and thought it was domestic abuse. It even went and tattled, making sure everyone up and down the mountain knew what the big sisters were doing at home. No wonder they got scared and ran away the moment they saw it wake up again.

She, on the other hand, was different. She understood!

She had seen her daddy and mommy do that. Aunt Isla said it was a fairy fight, that they were just deeply communicating their feelings. It wasn’t a real fight, and it certainly wasn’t domestic abuse!

Yunbao looked at Angela in confusion, its heart filled with great sorrow and many, many questions. “Is being a simpleton bad? Everyone says simpletons have more fun!”

Just as the two little ones were arguing about whether being a simpleton was good and why it had to be a pretty big sister…

Yu Zhiyao, glowing with health and walking with a composed gait, came over from the Academy of Sciences toward the Trial Study Pavilion.

Ever since she found out that Yunbao had witnessed their dual cultivation and mistaken it for a domestic abuse scene, she and Ji Changqing generally avoided returning to Lingyun Peak whenever Yunbao was awake, to avoid the awkwardness of corrupting a child. However, her work still involved a lot of interaction with this place. She had a lecture here today, and it was almost time.

As her cultivation level rose, the advantages of her Glazed Immaculate Spirit Body became more and more apparent, perfecting her already outstanding looks. Her skin was translucent, her figure delicate and graceful, giving her an ethereal air like a fairy who lived above the mortal world. But Ji Changqing’s enthusiasm for dual cultivating with her, for long and frequent sessions, had nourished her until she radiated a captivating charm, both alluring and enchanting.

These two vastly different feelings were perfectly blended in her, making her look pure and elegant, yet also very tempting.

From a distance, the two little ones saw her, and both became extremely excited.

Angela’s eyes lit up. She had finally seen a big sister who was on par with her mommy. Ah, no, this was a big sister. “Beautiful big sister, I’m available too!”

With countless snacks and all sorts of shopping sprees on the line, Yunbao would not back down.

It shoved Angela aside, the little boat of their friendship capsizing just like that. “No, you’re not!”

That was its domineering CEO!

The domineering CEO who was willing to keep it!
