CA – Chapter 140

Chapter 140

Gosse Empire, Rose Manor.

The white castle was shrouded in a thin mist of blood. Vampires below the sixth generation patrolled outside the Blood Domain, as carriage after carriage entered the castle from all directions.

Inside the castle, Evan sat on a chair and wiped his still blood-stained lips. At his feet lay two unconscious priests, their pure white vestments stained red with blood. The faint smell of blood lingered in the air.

“What happened that made you leave the Blood Domain in such a hurry, Evan?” A deep voice echoed through the empty castle. A cloud of black mist suddenly appeared beside Evan, a pair of crimson eyes faintly visible within it.

Evan was not at all flustered by the sudden appearance of the mist. He shifted his position to face the black cloud, meeting the crimson eyes, and said flatly, “That hybrid escaped.”

“Oh?”

“It’s that fourth-generation I told you about, a perfect hybrid.” Evan’s eyes grew excited at the mention of Lucille. “You’d never guess, she’s actually a descendant of Violet.”

“To think that man would leave us such a surprise before he died.”

The man in the mist was also somewhat surprised. He fell silent, lost in thought.

Evan took out the glass bottle containing Lucille’s blood, holding it up to the light to examine it closely with a strange expression. “Such perfect blood. Perhaps this is the kind of blood that flows in the veins of a first-generation vampire.”

To them, the first-generation vampires were like gods.

They represented the pinnacle of power. Even though the first-generation vampires had all fallen into slumber, the Blood Domain they could manifest was enough to make the first Pope feel wary. Just the thought of it made Evan’s blood boil.

Who was the first Pope? She single-handedly established the Holy See and brought light to the Statu Continent, but at the end of the Holy War, she could only watch helplessly as they retreated from the Blood Domain.

“We might be about to succeed, Eden,” Evan said, turning his gaze to the black mist, his voice filled with ambition. “The Holy See, werewolves, elves… we’ll wipe them all from the Statu Continent.”

Vampires were born with immense power. They should have been the masters of this continent.

Those clans that had been beaten into submission by the Holy See, willing only to cower in the Blood Domain, were becoming more and more useless.

Eden was not as agitated as Evan; even the tone of his voice was devoid of any fluctuation. “Where is that fourth-generation vampire now?”

Evan’s movements paused, and he frowned in displeasure. “She was rescued by Faye.”

“Faye?”

Evan put the blood away, the excitement in his eyes gradually fading and replaced by a hint of killing intent. “That’s her, the damn werewolves. Without the Holy See backing them, why don’t we first…” He raised a hand and made a slitting motion across his neck.

“Get a grip, Evan,” Eden interrupted him coldly.

“The werewolves and the Elf Race are on good terms. The Tzimisce and Xi-Tai alone can’t destroy them.”

Not only could they not destroy them, but it would also reduce everything they had worked so hard to build to nothing. The werewolves had long lifespans. Those older generation werewolves had only gone into seclusion, they weren’t dead. When the Wolf Race faced an existential crisis, they would emerge to protect their kin, even if it meant death.

Over a thousand years ago, the Red-robed Archbishop they had supported did become Pope, but he didn’t hold the position for long. He was severely injured in a joint attack by the werewolves and elves and died within a few years.

The werewolves and elves were not to be trifled with. After all, they were once the “vanguard knights” for the Holy See in its conquest of the Statu Continent.

They just needed to watch the Holy See, werewolves, and elves fight amongst themselves. No matter which side was weakened, it was a good thing for them. Rushing in rashly would be the most foolish move.

“You’ve been a bit too radical lately,” Eden said flatly. “Did you capture Byron of the Brujah? His sister is looking for him and already suspects you.”

Byron was the “trouble” Faye had saddled him with. At the mention of this, Evan’s face darkened. He pursed his lips and said, “Faye sent him over. I was tricked by that woman.”

He couldn’t possibly let the man go, but keeping him was a problem. There had been too much going on recently, and Evan hadn’t yet figured out how to resolve it.

“I told you long ago not to establish this troublesome manor.”

Being so high-profile, it was bound to cause problems sooner or later. And it couldn’t even keep a hybrid contained. If it weren’t for a chaotic place like this manor, how could that fourth-generation hybrid have gone undiscovered by them until now?

“Should I stay in a pitch-black water cave like you?” Evan threw up his hands. For the Xi-Tai clan, they liked that kind of environment, but as vampires of the Tzimisce clan, they preferred to blend in with humans.

Eden was silent for a moment before saying in a deep voice, “In any case, be careful lately. And bring that fourth-generation vampire to me.”

After he finished speaking, the black mist slowly dissipated until it was gone.

Outside the white castle, Delia sat on the surrounding wall, a white-haired doll placed beside her. She stared down at the parchment in her hands, lost in thought, oblivious to her hair being tousled by the wind.

A petite figure in a cloak ascended a bone bridge to the top of the wall. She walked over to Delia, glanced down at the doll, and said expressionlessly, “The witchcraft has been cast. Where is the Elf Fruit?”

Delia put away the parchment in her hand and looked up at the speaker with a nonchalant expression. “I can only give it to you after I see them give birth.”

Vera frowned. “Elder Glanna has urgent use for it.”

Her witchcraft was not as outstanding as Elder Noah’s, so it would still take some time for the human women to give birth naturally.

Delia shrugged. “Then have her come herself.”

If Glanna could come herself, she wouldn’t be here. Vera was silent for a moment, then turned and walked back down the bone bridge.

Delia watched her back disappear, the expression on her face slowly fading. She turned and hugged the white-haired doll, stroking its long hair, her thoughts drifting to who knows where.

After Tang Qiu and Lucille returned to Edry, aside from the banquet held on the first day, the two of them stayed in Lucille’s manor. Even though the invitations had piled up high enough to fill a warehouse, they showed no intention of going out.

Werewolves possessed stamina that rivaled vampires; they didn’t feel tired even without sleep. This provided a certain convenience for Lucille. No matter what kind of “feeding” it was, she could indulge herself without restraint.

The two of them spent several days fooling around in their room. With nothing to do, Kama and Erin sat in the garden, sunbathing out of boredom.

Fortunately, the blonde bishop was not a person who was overly addicted to bed matters. On the fifth day, she and Lucille finally appeared in the garden.

The moment Kama saw Tang Qiu, she ran over and silently hugged her leg. Tang Qiu patted Kama’s head and said with a smile, “Why didn’t you have Anna take you out to play?”

No matter how special Kama’s identity was, she was still a child, and a child who was curious about everything.

Kama shook her head and pulled Tang Qiu over to a table to sit down.

The table could only seat three people. After pulling Tang Qiu to a seat, Kama proactively took the last empty spot. She glanced at Lucille standing behind Tang Qiu and sat up straight, but a corner of her mouth secretly curled up.

Everyone present noticed Kama’s little trick. Erin glanced at Lucille, hesitating whether to give up her seat, but Lucille had already turned and left.

She leaned closer to Tang Qiu and asked in a low voice, “Is she angry?”

Tang Qiu glanced at Lucille’s retreating back and shook her head with a smile. “No.”

A “well-fed” Lucille wasn’t that petty.

Just as Tang Qiu thought, Lucille didn’t bother with Kama’s childish antics at all. She was leaving to find Lola.

However, before Lucille had even left the garden, Lola suddenly jumped down from the wall, carrying a person. She threw the person at Tang Qiu’s feet, crossed her arms, and said in a low voice, “A vampire from the Gosse Empire.”

She had been keeping an eye on the movements in the Gosse Empire during this time.

Lucille walked back, looked down at the person, and said flatly, “A seventh-generation vampire.”

After being thrown to the ground, the vampire slowly came to. The moment he opened his eyes, he was startled to see Lola, and then he was intimidated by the aura emanating from Lucille. He scrambled to his feet, wanting to escape, but was trapped by a suddenly appearing flame of light.

“Wait, Lord Delia sent me.” Delia had only given him an envelope to deliver to Edry, but she hadn’t revealed anything else.

Tang Qiu already knew that these vampires called Dini “Delia.” She stood up, walked to the vampire, and reached her hand through the flames of light.

The vampire tremblingly placed the envelope in her hand.

As Tang Qiu lowered her head to open the envelope and read the contents of the parchment, Lola had already walked through the flames of light and cleanly crushed the vampire’s heart.

The flames of light extinguished the moment they touched her body. Lola rubbed her arm, the heat of the flames making her frown slightly.

“What does it say?” Erin asked, leaning over curiously.

Tang Qiu handed her the parchment and said softly, “Evan is at Rose Manor.”

“Rose Manor?” Lucille narrowed her eyes and said in a deep voice, “Perfect. We can take care of it all at once.”

She had not a single good feeling about that place.

It was better for Evan to be at Rose Manor than in the Blood Domain, Tang Qiu thought with a slight smile, saying nothing. She picked up the teapot on the table and poured a cup of tea.

The tea was already cold. She took a sip and frowned slightly.

Erin, who was reading the parchment, suddenly let out a sound of surprise. She shook the parchment and asked doubtfully, “Why is she telling you to find Faye or Delphine for help?”

“Isn’t Faye that werewolf clan leader?”

Tang Qiu put down her cup and said nonchalantly, “She is the werewolf clan leader.”

“Then…”

Why would this Delia think the werewolf clan leader would help them? This wasn’t normal.

“Faye might be my mother.” Tang Qiu blinked at the three stunned people and said with a grin, “Dini knows about this.”

Erin: “…”

Lola took a moment to react, then suddenly turned her head to look at Lucille, her expression subtle. “Doesn’t that make Grace the young master of the Wolf Race… Would Faye agree to her daughter being with a vampire?”

The Wolf Race placed great importance on procreation, especially since Tang Qiu was of the royal werewolf line.

Lucille frowned, glaring at her unhappily.

“What’s wrong with being with a vampire?” Tang Qiu let out a low laugh, unconcerned. “I’m still a bishop of the Holy See right now.”

Lola thought about the blonde bishop’s identity and shook her head with a wry smile. She was right. Compared to consorting with a vampire, running off to the enemy’s Holy See was clearly a more serious offense.

But regardless of which it was, the blonde bishop didn’t care in the slightest. She was truly “willful,” but she also had the power to be so.
