LWGP - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Mystic Realm Fragment
Wang Jiu came to her senses and asked the System, "The experience from killing these Goblins and the mini-boss? Weren't there any notifications?"
She wanted to calculate the experience gained from each of them.
System: "This is reality, not yet fully loaded into the game. Even an invasion dungeon can't be completely digitized, so there won't be any experience gain notifications."
Wang Jiu: "Then do other people get experience? I'm talking about killing the mini-boss, like that Qi Dong."
System: "Yes, he contributed damage. Invasion dungeons are open-ended; as long as you deal damage, you get a reward. But for a Wilderness Unknown Dungeon, ownership is more important. All rewards and experience go to the leader and the leader's team."
Wang Jiu understood. A team. She sensed the System was very deliberate with its definition, as evidenced by the temporary squad she formed with Zhang Xu and Li Meng in the Tutorial Instance.
But the benefit of others having low participation was now apparent. She had taken the lion's share of the experience, which was how she met the conditions to level up.
After collecting all the Goblin corpses, twelve in total, Wang Jiu had gained 10 Copper Coins and 10 Bricks.
Currently, her assets included the Rookie's Dagger, the Chieftain's Bane, a treasure chest, a pack of sanitary pads, ten Bricks, and 41 Copper Coins.
This wasn't the place to deal with her attributes and newly acquired resources. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly glimpsed a vortex beneath one end of the broken plane.
The vortex was still there?
She stood on high ground, looking down at it, and suddenly asked the System, "You mentioned before that the greatest benefit of this dungeon for me… does that include this?"
The dungeon had ended, but the vortex remained. What did that mean?
Everything that exists has a purpose.
The System seemed somewhat excited. "You've finally noticed. That's right, it is your greatest reward. In a wilderness dungeon, the importance of the leader exceeds your imagination. Whether it's an unknown apocalypse or an invasion mode, as long as you meet three conditions, you can obtain the current dungeon's Mystic Realm Fragment."
"1. Be the dungeon leader who killed the final Boss."
"2. Participation must be 50% or higher."
"3. Personal rating must be seven stars or higher.
Wang Jiu couldn't judge the specific difficulty of these three conditions, but she had met them in both of her experiences so far. The problem was—this was just the beginning. Later, when large groups adapted and their strength caught up, meeting all three conditions simultaneously would be as difficult as ascending to heaven.
So she asked what would happen to the Mystic Realm Fragment if these three conditions weren't met.
System: "Collect it first."
Then the System prompted Wang Jiu, asking if she wanted to collect the Mystic Realm Fragment that belonged to her.
Collect.
Hum! The vortex turned into light and vanished into the air in the blink of an eye.
The special forces soldiers who had been standing guard by it were astonished. Qi Dong also ran over, but when he subconsciously looked up, he saw no one.
As Wang Jiu disembarked from the plane, she had already seen the object occupying the last slot in her inventory.
It was a special crystal with irregular angles.
This was the Mystic Realm Fragment?
System: "You just saw it. If ownership is clear, it goes into your backpack on its own. But if there's no owner, and no one meets the conditions, then…"
Then it would be a slaughter for the sake of contention.
Wang Jiu understood but wasn't in a hurry to ask about the importance of the Mystic Realm Fragment. She had already boarded a new minibus that had just arrived to pick people up and had taken out her phone.
The passengers from before were on the bus, including the Chief Purser and Xiao Li's group. At this moment, everyone was exceptionally quiet, as if weighed down by the exhaustion of struggling on the line between life and death, the horror of seeing others die, and the uncertainty of the future.
Until… Smack!
The sound of a slap was exceptionally clear. Everyone turned to look, and even Wang Jiu was pulled from her texting to glance at the disheveled woman and the even more disheveled man.
The woman: "You deadbeat, you have expenses every month and you still dare to hide a secret stash! No wonder you were always so diligent about fixing the clogged toilet. You were afraid I'd find your secret money, weren't you!"
The man looked embarrassed, quickly grabbing her hand and coaxing her in a low voice.
This commotion dispelled much of the heavy atmosphere. The Chief Purser turned her head and saw Xiao Li looking grave, as if struggling with some thought. Wang Peng was tearfully chattering away to Xiao Li and their friends. And then there was that female passenger whose name she still didn't know. She had just withdrawn her gaze, covered in blood, her expression indifferent as she focused on her phone. The light from the airport shone through the minibus window, casting her in silhouette.
The contour of her side profile seemed distinct yet was hazy. The way she frowned at her phone with her lips pressed together… powerful and cryptic.
In truth, many people should have been discussing the monsters and the extraordinary abilities displayed by her, Xiao Li, and later, Qi Dong. Anyone with eyes could see the unnatural characteristics involved.
The things those monsters dropped… it was like a game.
But for some reason, they didn't dare to discuss it, nor did they dare to ask.
They finally entered the airport. It was bright and clean, filled with living people and friendly airport staff. The aroma of coffee, roasted sausages, and bread wafted through the air.
This was the world of the living.
They had really survived.
Wang Peng stood there silently for three seconds, then suddenly threw his arms around Xiao Li.
"Waaah, Ah Li, I've decided! I'm going to continue studying to be an aerospace pilot! I was born to be a captain!"
"If my mom tries to make me go back and inherit the family business, I won't go! That damn illegitimate son can have it for all I care! It's just a couple of billion! Money is fucking dirt! Supermodels and starlets are all fleeting clouds!"
"Ah Li, why aren't you moved at all? I've finally found my purpose in life."
It's not just your brother who isn't moved, we're not fucking moved either!
At first, when the passengers heard this "hero" who had saved the entire plane emotionally complaining about being forced by his mother to give up his life's dream, they felt a bit of sympathy and pity. But the more they listened, the more it rubbed them the wrong way.
A couple of billion, dirt? Supermodels and starlets, fleeting clouds?
Screw you!
Wang Peng was still unaware that he had inadvertently drawn everyone's ire, still lost in his own rambling. "This is the first time I've realized how meaningful it is to save people. A person really can't be too debauched and useless… Holy shit, why are you kneeling to me!"
Wang Peng's cry of alarm drew a lot of attention. The passengers watched with their own eyes as the handsome, brave, and positive young master, who had been silently enduring Wang Peng's clinging and complaining, suddenly… went limp and knelt on the ground.
He was one of their saviors, after all. The crowd was suddenly unwilling to leave, and they all came forward to ask what was wrong.
Xiao Li hadn't felt anything at first because he had been analyzing the physical stats Wang Jiu had displayed earlier—the ratio of her Strength and Agility. He could tell she had definitely focused on Agility and had indeed benefited from it, and she had certainly allocated her points based on the cramped conditions of the plane.
His situation was different now.
So he would save his points for now and create a Strength and Agility template using her as a model when he got back… He had a scientific mindset that focused on data and was determined to use Wang Jiu as a reference to measure his own resource allocation.
But he slowly began to feel his thoughts becoming muddled, and his body felt groggy and nauseous. Was he just too tired?
He only had 1 point in Stamina, so it wasn't strange to feel exhausted after a fierce battle. But the problem was…
His leg hurt so much!
Thud. Xiao Li knelt. Wang Peng was physically weak and couldn't hold him up, only managing to shout. Their two friends, however, reacted quickly. Seeing Xiao Li's pale face as he clutched his thigh, they knew something was wrong. They didn't go looking for the special forces soldiers escorting them, nor for airport staff, but for a beautiful figure they had just spotted out of the corner of their eye.
Wang Jiu was aware of the commotion, but she paid it no mind, just scrolling through messages from friends in her medical circles in a small group chat on her phone.
They were discussing this incident, and… the disappearance of everyone in the Old Lady's classroom.
She remained hidden among the dozens of people in the group, not saying a word, but she had privately messaged many of them.
So far, no one could give her any definite news.
Then her only option was to go to the Old Lady's school and her home to check.
Wang Jiu was quickening her pace when someone suddenly blocked her path.
"Doctor Wang, are you free right now? Something's happened to Ah Li. Could we trouble you to take a look?"
The airport could send a doctor, of course, but they weren't present and it would take them at least ten minutes to arrive. Xiao Li's condition seemed sudden, and they had met Wang Jiu first, knew she was professionally skilled, and even more skilled in other areas. She was the most suitable person.
But because they knew how formidable she was, they were rather timid and polite, not daring to order her around as they had back in Zeyang County.
Wang Jiu turned her head and saw Xiao Li being propped up by Wang Peng, but his lower body was in bad shape. That thigh…
Her brow furrowed slightly. Her gaze swept over Xiao Li's thigh, and under the watchful eyes of the crowd, she walked back.
She was a doctor, after all. Saving lives was her duty.
Although she was more interested in knowing if the reason for Xiao Li's collapse was related to the differently colored blood on his leg.
"Take off your pants."
After Wang Jiu crouched down, she said this. Xiao Li hadn't passed out, so he heard her clearly and froze for a moment, glaring at Wang Jiu. "You…"
Wang Jiu pressed her left hand on his femoral artery, but her index finger was extended, pointing directly between his legs. She asked, "Do you want to save what's up here, or what's down there?"
Holy shit, are you insane!
But Wang Jiu was concise and her threat was shockingly effective. No man could withstand such a threat. Besides, Wang Peng had already started to unbuckle his belt, frantically persuading him, "Ah Li, Ah Li, listen to me! Even though you have a monster of an older brother and don't have to worry about the family business, we still have to do the whole 'marrying a wife and having kids' thing ourselves! Don't be stubborn! You know, even circumcisions should be done early…"
But Wang Peng wasn't as fast as Wang Jiu. She used the Rookie's Dagger to slice open the leg of his pants, revealing the wound underneath. Thanks to the System, his initial wound had indeed begun to heal, to about the extent of a two-week-old injury, which certainly didn't affect his normal walking. But later, during the fight, it had split open again and happened to be inadvertently contaminated by the green liquid.
"The wound reopened and was contaminated by Goblin blood. It might be poisonous." Even she was a little surprised. As for the others who heard this, they were even more terrified.
Poisonous?!
