VAP - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: The Supreme Sage Hopelessly Obsessed with Beauty (13)
Too close.
Yue Du could feel her heart racing. She did her best to maintain a calm and composed expression as she watched the powerful half-blood reveal a satisfied smile and then lean down.
First, the side of her neck was lightly touched by something soft and moist, which swept slowly across her skin, as if a predator were determining if its prey’s taste was to its liking.
The result was, of course, positive, and so she began to savor the sweet flesh and blood of her prey.
The sensation of sharp teeth piercing her was strange. It made Yue Du feel as if she were a piece of extremely tender veal on a plate, its texture pierced by a silver fork and pinned firmly in place.
But just as Nai Yin had said, it didn’t hurt at all. Not only did it not hurt, but an increasingly distinct sense of pleasure exploded from the depths of her brain.
Something was being drawn out of her. Her breathing grew ragged, and her body gradually became hot and soft. If Yue Du hadn’t been sitting in a chair, she definitely wouldn’t have been able to stand.
Her wrists were held tightly. She was immersed in the strange sensory experience, and time itself seemed to stop. All reason, composure, and calmness were thrown to the winds—
After a long while.
The two sharp fangs withdrew, but the cool lips did not leave. Nai Yin lightly licked that small patch of skin, intimately and affectionately.
Yue Du regained her senses and moved her wrists weakly. “...Let go.”
Nai Yin said in a hoarse voice, “Wait a moment. I’m healing the wound.”
It’s probably some strange setting like vampire saliva healing bite wounds, right?
Yue Du closed her eyes and said calmly, “There’s no need. A small wound will heal on its own.”
This was thanks to the combined effects of her special system body and the constitution of humans in a magical world.
“The wound is a bit deep. It’ll start to hurt in a moment. It’s better if I do it.”
Yue Du didn’t argue further. She turned her face to the other side, closing her eyes to calm her breathing.
After a few seconds, Nai Yin lifted her head and released her wrists.
Only then did Yue Du realize that her appearance had changed slightly: she still had pale skin and decadent, beautiful features, but now she had the traits of a vampire—horns and blood fangs.
Standing here now was a complete vampire. A pair of pure black horns rose from her silver, frost-like hair. Their texture was like black tourmaline, the same color as Nai Yin’s eyes.
They curved backward and upward. They weren’t long, but their shape was beautiful.
Her gaze shifted down. Between those crimson lips, two slightly long and sharp, snow-white teeth could be seen, right where human canines should be. They curved slightly inward, possessing a strange sort of beauty.
Nai Yin met Yue Du’s gaze and seemed to subconsciously lick her sharp fangs.
The level of seduction increased exponentially.
“What’s with this new look of yours?”
“It’s my vampire form, but I don’t use it often. In this form, it’s harder to restrain my natural urges.”
Alright, that sounds very magical. The half-bloods here are so advanced, they can even switch their physical traits at will!
“Other half-bloods aren’t like this. I’m special,” Nai Yin explained simply, then tilted her head slightly and winked. “Do you like it? If you do, how about I stay in this form?”
Yue Du found it a bit hard to handle. She took a deep breath and said, as expressionlessly as possible, “It’s all the same. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back. Miss Bifula assigned me homework.”
“Your ears are red,” Nai Yin said suddenly.
Yue Du: “...” Her first reaction was to raise a hand to touch her ears.
They did seem a bit hot, but she was the type who didn’t blush easily, so it shouldn’t be very obvious—it couldn’t be that her ears, of all places, turned red so easily, right?
The corners of Nai Yin’s mouth lifted higher, her smile exceptionally beautiful. “I was teasing you. Your reaction is so cute.”
She successfully earned a subtle and annoyed glare from her system. It was truly subtle; someone with slightly weaker observational skills wouldn’t have even noticed.
“I’m leaving.”
“Don’t be in such a hurry. How much have you eaten? The small ribs were cooked perfectly today. It would be a shame to throw them away. Finish eating before you go back.”
How could Lord Galor be someone who would feel pity over wasting a little food? This sentence was a clear hint: You can go, but only after you’ve eaten your fill.
Yue Du said, “I’ll eat in my room.”
With that, she stood up. Just as she got to her feet, she felt a brief spell of dizziness, her vision went black, and she nearly lost her balance.
Nai Yin quickly steadied her.
Yue Du took a moment to recover. “How much did you drink?”
Nai Yin casually picked up a wine glass to demonstrate.
That wasn’t much. How could she feel so weak...
Yue Du didn’t want her help and subconsciously reached up to touch the side of her neck.
It was smooth and flat, not like there was a puncture wound. At most, it was a little swollen. It seemed to have been healed already.
Nai Yin said, “I’ll walk you back.”
Yue Du replied, “Go drink your blood. I’ll go by myself.”
Carrying the tray, Yue Du left the dining room calmly and composedly, her steps steady.
On the way, she passed by the chief attendant.
Tina bowed to her. “Miss Yue.”
Her gaze swept strangely over her neck, filled with unconcealed joy and relief.
The mark probably hadn’t faded completely...
Yue Du nodded in return, pretending not to have noticed anything. She had absolutely no desire to know what Tina was thinking!
In the dining room.
Nai Yin was still standing in the same spot, her pale fingertips pressing against her crimson lower lip, tracing over it as if savoring an aftertaste, as though they too had been stained with a vivid, gorgeous color.
“Truly cute,” she repeated, still not having had her fill.
And so gullible. She believed it when I said her ears were red, and she believed it when I said they weren’t. In fact, they were red, of course. Even her fair cheeks, which rarely flushed, had taken on a lovely color, and her eyes were veiled in a thin mist of moisture. She couldn’t have looked more delectable.
And yet, she herself hadn’t noticed.
There was a knock on the door.
Nai Yin knew who was outside and said nonchalantly, “Come in.”
Tina entered, holding a parchment scroll. After bowing, she was about to begin the morning report.
“No need to report. Just leave it, and I’ll look at it myself.” Nai Yin sat down in the chair Yue Du had just vacated and said cheerfully, “As it happens, I’m in a good mood today.”
A look of surprise appeared on the maid’s face, but she quickly carried out her master’s command.
Just as she was about to bow and withdraw, she heard Lord Galor say, “Have Milan take two top-grade blood-replenishing potions to Yue’s room, and have her check on her while she’s at it.”
Tina’s suspicions were confirmed, and she beamed. “Yes, my lord!”
“Don’t mention this in front of her,” Nai Yin reminded her.
“Rest assured. Should we continue to organize blood collections in the future?”
“There’s no need.”
Tina suppressed the urge to weep with joy, bowed once more, and left with an exceptionally light step.
It hadn’t been easy. Not easy at all.
After several hundred years, she was finally saying goodbye to being single. This was cause for celebration!
Meanwhile, Yue Du had shut herself in her room to eat breakfast.
When she first got back, she had specifically checked herself in the mirror. Seeing no redness on her cheeks or ears, she had breathed a sigh of relief.
Of course, it was also possible that the blush had just faded quickly, but who cared about that? If she didn’t see it, it wasn’t there.
Just as she was relaxing at the small round table, about to enjoy her breakfast, a mechanical notification sound suddenly rang out from the system communication channel—a crisp “Ding.”
The hand holding the fork paused.
“Ding! Main System function update complete!”
“Effective immediately, the cross-world group chat function for team members is now online. All task systems have been assigned to their respective workgroup chats. Please actively exchange experiences with your colleagues to improve yourselves for better task completion.”
“Activate the virtual platform function to enter the group chat channel. We wish you all a pleasant exchange.”
After repeating once more, the mechanical voice disappeared.
Yue Du, who had been enjoying her meal: “...”
Back in the Main God’s space, customer service had indeed said that a new function would go online after seven hours.
Considering the time ratio between the Main God’s space and the mission worlds, the time was indeed up.
Yue Du slowly chewed and swallowed the piece of veal in her mouth, sighed, and decided to go online first to see her group members.
She belonged to the Villain Awakening Project Group. According to customer service, there were five task systems participating in this project, and Yue Du was the fifth.
She had never met the other members.
She had to go online and say hello, at least...
The system’s virtual platform function was essentially the effect of spirit realm technology, projecting the system’s data into a three-dimensional virtual space to form a body.
If she had to enter the virtual platform, it meant this group chat wasn’t just a simple chat, but a cross-world meet-up.
Yue Du activated the virtual platform function.
In the room, her body instantly went rigid, her eyes vacant, as her system data submerged into the virtual space.
It was a pure white domain, the kind that could give you snow blindness if you stayed too long. But since data didn’t “see” with the naked eye, it didn’t matter.
She opened her data panel, selected “Enter Group Chat,” and a door made of data streams appeared before her.
Yue Du: “Mm.”
She wondered what her group members would be like.
Then, she quickly found out.
“Hey, what kind of group chat background do you guys like?”
“Whatever.”
“...”
“Hey, I hate it when people say ‘whatever.’ At least give me a straight answer. Are there any backgrounds you dislike?”
“I already said, anything is fine.”
“...”
Yue Du, who was automatically transferred into the group chat’s virtual space upon entering the door: “???”
“The new member is here! A warm welcome!”
“Nice to meet you. Welcome aboard.”
“...”
This space was also a blank void, but in the center were four different-colored, disc-shaped seats, three of which were already occupied.
The one clamoring to set the chat background was a young woman with short hair and wheat-colored skin, wearing an all-natural leopard print—a leopard-skin skirt.
The one who said “whatever” was a long-haired man, his hair tied in a bundle at the back of his head, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses.
And the one who had remained silent didn’t look very old, with androgynous features and aura. Their hair was neither long nor short, and their skin was unnaturally white.
This person was staring blankly at the empty space before them, seeming to be completely out of it.
All in all, they were quite a distinctive bunch.
“Sit here,” the short-haired woman said, pointing to the empty disc. “It’s just the four of us.”
“Isn’t there one more senior...”
“Oh, him? He left the group.”
The members of the Villain Awakening Project Group went from five systems to four. How delightful.
Not delightful at all, okay!
Yue Du maintained her smile and sat in the empty seat.
The discussion about the chat background was temporarily shelved. The top priority now was self-introductions.
“My full name is pretty long and a pain to say. Just call me Turasu. Number 0757.” This was the background lady.
“I have many names. Just call me Jian Mingtian, that’s the most convenient. Number 0444.” This was Mr. Whatever.
“...I’m Xiao Yi,” the silent one said lightly, as if sleepwalking.
Yue Du gave a very ordinary self-introduction: “My name is Yue Du, number 0996. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
After the introduction round was over, the topic circled back to setting the chat background.
Turasu was finally free from talking to a group member full of “whatevers” and another who was completely silent. She cheerfully and enthusiastically discussed with Yue Du whether they should choose a static background.
“A static scene isn’t bad, but it’s bound to be monotonous. Let’s choose a dynamic one,” Yue Du suggested sincerely.
Inwardly, however, she was mournfully thinking about her breakfast... and Nai Yin.
The castle was so lovely. She wanted to go back.
