SCOM - Chapter 93
Chapter 93
Because they were students from other schools and didn't know the rules on their first day, the instructor ultimately let Cha Lili and his group off, but not before giving them a warning.
As soon as the instructor left, Cha Lili stood up, scattering playing cards all over the floor. "An Yingjing, couldn't you have just held them yourself? Did you have to frame me?"
An Yingjing said, "How is it framing? It's called passing. Besides, you were playing earlier too."
How outrageous!
Cha Lili looked at the group in the dorm room, then aimed his arrow at Luo Shaoyuan. "Don't come over next time."
Luo Shaoyuan, who had been oblivious the entire time, looked innocent. "I didn't know the instructor would conduct a surprise inspection of your dorms."
After speaking, Luo Shaoyuan realized An Yingjing was still holding her hand. It was one thing during training, but normally, Alphas and Omegas shouldn't be so familiar. She immediately pulled her hand back.
Cha Lili: ...How could someone like him actually have an Omega who likes him?
Zuo Luohuan, who had started the 'passing' in the first place, had already pulled Ji Yuezhi into a corner, perfectly hidden from view.
"Forget it," Luo Shaoyuan said magnanimously. "I'll take you guys somewhere else to have fun next time. That's all for today."
The students from the various military academies all knew each other. When they played, they seemed to get along great, but when they messed with each other, they were ruthless. While Luo Shaoyuan was thinking about what to play next time, the people in the dorm room began to leave one by one.
"I'll walk you back," Zuo Luohuan said, accompanying Ji Yuezhi out the door.
The Omegas lived in a separate building, and there were only two Omegas among the visitors to the dorm today.
"Did your father ask you to see him because of the Xijiang Exile Star matter?" Ji Yuezhi asked, tilting his head as they walked.
Zuo Luohuan recalled some of the things her father had said and chuckled. "Not entirely."
She said not entirely but didn't explain what they had discussed. Although Ji Yuezhi was curious, he didn't press further, simply letting her hold his hand as they walked toward his dormitory.
Back in the dorm, An Yingjing stood in place, waiting for a long time without receiving the same treatment. He couldn't help but get angry and strode out the door.
"Stop cleaning up," Cha Lili said, looking at Luo Shaoyuan, who was squatting on the floor gathering the playing cards. "An Yingjing has already left."
"Oh, right, I should get back to sleep early." Luo Shaoyuan glanced back upon hearing this. "This is the only deck of cards I have left. I can't lose it."
Cha Lili: "..."
He snatched the cards from her hand. "I'll clean them up and give them to you tomorrow. An Yingjing is an Omega, and it's late. You should walk him back."
Having said so much, Cha Lili thought anyone would understand, but he had clearly overestimated Luo Shaoyuan.
"Our Northern Military Academy is perfectly safe. It's not like the First Military Academy." As Luo Shaoyuan said this, she felt her own stature grow considerably. Her skill in verbal taunting had leveled up again.
Cha Lili: Forget it. Why am I meddling in other people's business.
In the end, however, Luo Shaoyuan didn't finish picking up the cards because An Yingjing returned and directly asked her to walk him back to his dorm, saying it was too dark and he wasn't used to it.
"You're a grown man, how can you still be afraid of the dark?" Although Luo Shaoyuan said this, she still shoved the cards into Cha Lili's hands. "Give them back to me tomorrow, thanks."
Watching the two of them leave, Cha Lili looked down at the playing cards in his hand. ...Why do I feel so annoyed?
The next day, the students from the various military academies began to familiarize themselves with the surroundings. The Winter Army was still preparing the encampment for the academies, but someone had already come to take roll call.
Among the people who came, there was one person Zuo Luohuan and Jiang Hong found very familiar.
"Isn't that Geng Yingyu?" Jiang Hong whispered, standing next to Zuo Luohuan. "She's not going to be training with us, is she?"
This time, in addition to the selected students from each military academy, the Winter Army would also choose a group of soldiers to join. Jiang Hong was traumatized by Geng Yingyu; the scene of the entire training room vomiting during Kang Guang's first class was still vivid in his mind.
"Yo, quite a few people from your class came." As Geng Yingyu passed the First Military Academy's contingent, she saw many of Jiang Hong's classmates and greeted them casually. Then, passing the next row, she saw Zuo Luohuan, and the smile on her face stiffened.
The incident of being pinned to the ground and beaten by Zuo Luohuan was a hurdle Geng Yingyu couldn't get over.
"Senior, are you also part of the skeletal mech training, or are you just here to take roll call?" Jiang Hong couldn't help but ask.
"I'm here to take roll call, and I'll also be part of the same team as you from now on." As Geng Yingyu spoke, her gaze clearly darted away from Zuo Luohuan several times.
Zuo Luohuan stood there without any particular reaction, but Ji Yuezhi noticed Geng Yingyu's evasive eyes. She was also an Omega and belonged to the northern region's Winter Army.
Ji Yuezhi lowered his eyes to the rough ground, unable to stop his thoughts from wandering.
It was just a general roll call. After it was finished, everyone dispersed.
Jiang Hong went to face his 'trauma,' and the others also scattered.
Ji Yuezhi wanted to ask Zuo Luohuan about her relationship with that Geng Yingyu, but he didn't know how to begin.
His expression was always faintly cold, so to an ordinary person, he looked no different. Zuo Luohuan turned back to look for Ji Yuezhi, and seeing him standing there, she walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"
He didn't look very happy.
"Do you know Senior Geng?" Ji Yuezhi's gaze fell on Jiang Hong and Geng Yingyu ahead, and he asked, feigning indifference.
"We had a class together once." Zuo Luohuan recalled the scene of her classmates vomiting and couldn't help but smile. "Senior is very interesting. She's good with her pheromones, a bit better than An Yingjing."
An Yingjing was naturally able to make people hallucinate, whereas Geng Yingyu fully utilized the timing of a battle to instantly release her pheromones, catching her opponent off guard. This was a method figured out by someone who had truly experienced life-and-death combat.
At first, Ji Yuezhi was just a little concerned, but after hearing Zuo Luohuan praise Geng Yingyu, he became completely convinced there was something between them.
"...You like her a lot?" A sour feeling inexplicably rose in Ji Yuezhi's chest. "She seemed very reluctant to see you just now."
Zuo Luohuan finally sensed that something was off. She looked at Ji Yuezhi, reached out to pinch his cheek, and asked, "What are you thinking? Why would I like her?"
"She cares about you a lot," Ji Yuezhi reminded her. She was clearly avoiding eye contact, yet she was secretly watching Zuo Luohuan out of the corner of her eye.
"Anyone would be a little concerned about the person who defeated them." Zuo Luohuan looked at Ji Yuezhi and suddenly understood. She asked in a low voice, "Is our Yuezhi feeling jealous?"
Ji Yuezhi turned his head away, refusing to look at her. After a moment, he said, "You're so wonderful... it's normal for people to like you."
It was the first time Zuo Luohuan had ever heard someone call her wonderful, and a smile couldn't help but appear in her eyes. "Mm, but this wonderful person only has one sweetheart."
Cha Lili, who happened to be passing by: "..." In broad daylight, under the clear sky, they were already whispering sweet nothings. He had really underestimated Zuo Luohuan's shamelessness back then.
Zuo Luohuan took Ji Yuezhi's hand, glanced over at Jiang Hong and Geng Yingyu, and quickly explained, "During Instructor Kang Guang's first class, he called Senior Geng over. She induced all the Alpha pheromones in the training room, and I was the only one who defeated her."
"...I'm sorry."
Ji Yuezhi also wanted to control himself, but the longer they were together, the more his feelings of insecurity grew. Even though Zuo Luohuan only had eyes for him, he would always wonder if this was all just a dream.
Zuo Luohuan held Ji Yuezhi's hand, gently stroking his knuckles, her touch finally resting on his ring finger. "You can ask me anything. You don't need to say you're sorry."
Over there, Jiang Hong and Geng Yingyu had successfully struck up a conversation.
"Senior Geng, with so many of us from several military academies, who will be leading us later on?" Jiang Hong asked tentatively.
"I'm not sure about that either. We'll find out in a few days when the military district's encampment is set up and we start training together." After saying this, Geng Yingyu's eyes lit up with gossip. "I heard Zuo Luohuan and Ji Yuezhi are together. Tell me, how did those two get together?"
"They just... got together like that." Jiang Hong shrugged. If he had known, would he have been so shocked back then?
Geng Yingyu clicked her tongue with a hint of regret. "I really couldn't tell that Zuo Luohuan was capable of liking an Omega."
Back then, she had been truly ruthless in their fight. Although she hadn't ultimately harmed her, Geng Yingyu had clearly sensed unrestrained killing intent in Zuo Luohuan's eyes. Now, just looking at Zuo Luohuan made her body tense up instinctively.
This skeletal mech training program was unprecedented because it involved so much. The four military academies had each selected three thousand cadets. For more than half of these cadets, their future assignments to various army groups had already been decided. Now, however, they were all rushing to the northern region to start their training anew.
The leaders of the major army groups, especially those on the Military Committee, were all vying for control over the future skeletal mech force.
However, both Ji Xixiu and Zuo Dihong intended to prevent the various army groups from interfering. After multiple meetings within a week, it was finally decided that instructors from the Northern Military Academy would temporarily guide the training, and a commander for the force would later be selected from among these cadets.
As for those within this force who had other intentions... that would depend on the capabilities of the person in charge.
Three days later, the Winter Army had set up the military training camp in the mountains behind the military district. All the selected cadets from the four military academies gathered, running into the valley wearing their skeletal mechs.
All the skeletal mechs looked the same. To tell them apart, the students from each academy's weapons department had made armbands and nameplates for their fellow students.
Of course, the materials for these were provided by each academy.
Unlike the energetic cadets, the weapons department students were all yawning to the heavens, their dark circles prominent.
During this period, these students had been cramming, learning about skeletal mech compression technology. It was a new field of knowledge, and all the weapons department cadets were constantly absorbing it, feeling like there was never enough time in the day.
"They're all black, it's so ugly. Why don't we change the color of our skeletal mech shells?" Guan Xue said to Qian Mao as she ran.
Qian Mao wasn't wearing a skeletal mech. He shook his head and refused. "The original color of the skeletal mech helps us spot problems with the shell."
The students from the four military academies ran in a vast procession. Luo Shaoyuan was at the very front, brimming with excess energy. She ran ahead on her own while also shouting for the Northern Military Academy students to pick up the pace.
In the crowd, Zuo Luohuan slowed her pace to run alongside Ji Yuezhi. "Jiang Hong just said that they're going to choose someone from among us to command the skeletal mech force."
Ji Yuezhi was taken aback. Did this mean it would be independent of the other army groups' control?
Because this training involved a merger of four military academies, all the army groups had contributed supplies.
"I want you to be the one in command," Zuo Luohuan said directly.
Ji Yuezhi was silent for a long moment before asking, "...And you?"
"I'll be a blade in your hand." Aside from Ji Yuezhi, Zuo Luohuan would not submit to anyone else.
