SCOM - Chapter 117
Chapter 117
Ji Yuezhi led his team back to the port, stopping to search and rescue whenever they encountered residential areas. As they were rescuing their third group of civilians, Zuo Luohuan finally found them.
She didn't approach immediately, instead parking her car behind them and watching Ji Yuezhi at the very front through her windshield.
His team members were helping many civilians out. He stood by a vehicle, speaking quietly with Jiang Hong, occasionally turning his head to give instructions to other team members.
Zuo Luohuan's gaze fell on Ji Yuezhi's profile. Even though they were surrounded by people, he was always the first one she saw.
She saw Jiang Hong say something to Ji Yuezhi. After replying, he looked down at his optical computer, a hint of loneliness in his expression.
In that instant, Zuo Luohuan's heart felt as if it had been seized. She couldn't bear to see him with such an expression.
Her Yuezhi shouldn't be troubled by such emotions.
"The capital's signal is temporarily restored," Jiang Hong said. "It'll hold for three hours."
"Contact the port first," Ji Yuezhi told Jiang Hong. He then glanced down at his own optical computer, wanting to contact Zuo Luohuan but fearing he would disturb her.
Jiang Hong was now receiving a steady stream of messages from the Jiang family. He saw one about Zuo Luohuan and instinctively looked up to tell Ji Yuezhi, only to be stunned by the person he saw behind him.
Ji Yuezhi followed Jiang Hong's gaze and turned, only to see the person he had been thinking of, standing right behind him, watching him with a gentle expression.
Zuo Luohuan traced his face with her eyes, wanting to etch every detail into her heart. Ji Yuezhi was still with his team, and with so many civilians around, she didn't want to ruin his image, so she just watched him.
But Ji Yuezhi didn't care. His eyes, which looked even more beautiful in the sunlight, widened slightly as he looked at the person behind him. The next second, he turned, strode over, and wrapped his arms tightly around Zuo Luohuan's neck.
Zuo Luohuan was taken aback for a moment before finally reaching out to embrace Ji Yuezhi.
Jiang Hong, standing nearby, tactfully turned and left to attend to other matters.
After hugging him, Zuo Luohuan realized that her heart had felt empty all this time. She reached out and patted his back, comforting the person in her arms. "I'm fine. Ren Pingbo is dead."
Normally, the words 'Ren Pingbo is dead' would have certainly caught Ji Yuezhi's attention; he had replayed it in his mind countless times. But right now, Ji Yuezhi couldn't hear anything, his mind a complete mess.
Ji Yuezhi buried half his face in Zuo Luohuan's shoulder, smelling the lingering scent of blood on her, even though she was no longer wearing the same clothes. His brow furrowed slightly, and his eyes gradually reddened.
A warm liquid fell onto her neck, making Zuo Luohuan's body stiffen. Not even the pain from the poison that had afflicted her mind could compare to this. At this very moment, she understood for the first time what true pain felt like.
Zuo Luohuan leaned her upper body back slightly, cupped his face, and looked closely at his reddened eyes. She leaned in, gently kissed the corner of his eye, and coaxed in a low voice, "...Don't cry."
Ji Yuezhi's long lashes closed, and another tear slid down his cheek. He couldn't control his emotions.
Before they parted, Zuo Luohuan had disregarded everyone else, tilting his chin up to leave him with a kiss.
Ji Yuezhi had tasted the finality of a farewell in that kiss. She had left with the intention of fighting to the death.
As the General Captain, he had no way to refuse. Zuo Luohuan was the highest-ranking Alpha in the Federation; besides her, no one could deal with Ren Pingbo.
Zuo Luohuan lowered her eyes and gently wiped away his tears with her fingertips. After a moment, wanting to dispel the atmosphere, she leaned close to Ji Yuezhi's ear and whispered, "Our Yuezhi's tears should be saved for later... use."
Her words were ambiguous and sensual, yet Ji Yuezhi simply lifted his misty, moist eyes and said obediently, "Okay."
Zuo Luohuan's throat tightened. In the end, she could only pull him into an embrace. "You really are..."
Because the members of the Federal Military Committee had been rescued, the entire capital was brought under control once more and quickly taken over. The Exoskeleton Legion was temporarily given time to rest and reorganize.
Two days later, the Seventeenth Army discovered a massive amount of explosives in the capital's underground, enough to level the entire city, had Zuo Luohuan pressed the green button.
It took a full five days to dismantle all the explosives.
When Zuo Luohuan received this news, she was in her house in the central city. The Seventeenth Army had already cleared the upstairs, and she had come over to replace everything in the house with new things.
This time, she didn't furnish it entirely according to her own habits, adding many things suitable for an Omega.
The sofa was replaced with the softest kind, the house was covered in soft carpets, and not a single item an Omega might need was missed.
Ji Yuezhi still didn't know what Zuo Luohuan had done. For the past few days, he had been assisting Ji Xixiu in restoring normalcy to the capital.
Zuo Luohuan's injuries were not light, and she had been ordered to rest, which gave her the time to do these things.
With Ren Pingbo's death, the supply channels in the capital were severed. The Gashiro forces in various districts could no longer replenish their robot dogs and were gradually pushed back. The Federation finally had a chance to catch its breath. Next, the Military Committee would deploy a counterattack plan, in which Ji Yuezhi and others would also participate.
Zuo Luohuan didn't go; Jiang Hong informed her directly.
Ten days later, life in the capital returned to normal. For the average citizen, the absence of the Twenty-sixth Army didn't bring about any significant changes.
Zuo Luohuan's injuries had almost completely healed, with only a few scars on her body yet to fade. She hadn't seen Ji Yuezhi for nearly seven or eight days.
Ji Xixiu was intentionally using this incident to mentor Ji Yuezhi, helping him quickly become familiar with handling similar situations.
Just as Zuo Luohuan was hesitating about whether to go find Ji Yuezhi, a call from Ji Xixiu suddenly came through.
"Uncle Ji..."
Before Zuo Luohuan could finish, Ji Xixiu interrupted her, his expression complicated. "Come to the South City Building to pick up Little Yue."
"What's wrong with him?" Zuo Luohuan didn't wait for Ji Xixiu's answer, grabbing her keys and rushing out.
"..." Ji Xixiu sighed inwardly. "Anyway, I'm giving you half an hour. Find a way to get here and take Little Yue away."
Zuo Luohuan floored the accelerator, countless possibilities flashing through her mind, but ultimately, only the suspicion that Ji Yuezhi was injured remained. She had completely lost her reason and failed to notice the complexity in Ji Xixiu's eyes.
Speeding all the way to the South City Building, Zuo Luohuan jumped out of her car and ran towards the lobby.
"Over here." Ji Xixiu was standing to one side of the lobby, beckoning her to follow.
"What's wrong with Yuezhi?" Zuo Luohuan rushed over, asking with her first words.
Ji Xixiu glanced at her expression but said nothing. He led Zuo Luohuan through the building to the back door and pointed to the back seat of a black SUV outside. "Little Yue is inside. Take him and leave."
Zuo Luohuan watched Ji Xixiu's retreating figure, belatedly realizing something was wrong. But she was worried about Ji Yuezhi and didn't have time to think, quickly approaching the vehicle and opening the rear door.
The moment she opened it, Zuo Luohuan was hit by an overwhelming scent of iris. Her heart jolted. She immediately got in and quickly shut the door.
As soon as Zuo Luohuan entered the back seat, she saw Ji Yuezhi lying on his side, his forehead covered in a fine sweat, his brows tightly furrowed. He was clearly uncomfortable.
The unconcealable sweet scent of iris in the car made Zuo Luohuan instantly understand what was wrong with Ji Yuezhi. His heat had arrived.
It shouldn't be this time; his heat wasn't due for at least a few more months.
Zuo Luohuan sat down, reached out to help him up, and released a bit of her Alpha pheromones, enveloping Ji Yuezhi.
Only then did Ji Yuezhi's brow relax slightly. He opened his eyes, looked at the person before him, and leaned into Zuo Luohuan's embrace with a somewhat dazed expression, trusting her completely.
"Where does it hurt?" Zuo Luohuan was worried about his condition; his heat had come far too early.
Ji Yuezhi didn't speak, struggling to get up. The heat had come on fiercely, leaving him weak all over, an ache seeping deep into his bones. He nearly fell several times, only managing to stay upright with Zuo Luohuan's support.
His whole body was burning hot, even his breath was warm. He managed to sit on Zuo Luohuan's lap, resting his head on her shoulder and exposing his long, beautiful nape directly to the Alpha's eyes.
It was a posture of submission. An Omega completely exposing their weakness to an Alpha—nothing could please an Alpha more than such a gesture.
Zuo Luohuan's eyes were a mixture of tenderness and ferocity. She restrained herself from touching him. After waiting a moment without a response from the Alpha, Ji Yuezhi rubbed against her impatiently, his soft, moist lips planting a placating kiss on her earlobe.
"Yuezhi." Zuo Luohuan raised a hand and gently pressed it against his gland, while her other hand gripped his waist, stopping him from rubbing against her.
"...Hmm?" From the moment Zuo Luohuan had entered and released her pheromones, Ji Yuezhi had completely let down his guard. His consciousness was already hazy, leaving only instinct. He managed a weak response.
Zuo Luohuan was worried about the gland on his nape, but the extremely dense iris scent in the car clearly indicated that his condition couldn't wait.
She leaned over and bit directly into his gland, injecting her pheromones to quickly form a temporary mark.
The temporary mark would stabilize Ji Yuezhi for the time being. Zuo Luohuan soothed the shivers caused by her potent Alpha pheromones, turned her head to kiss his cheek, and then laid him down on the back seat to rest. She got out, moved to the driver's seat, and drove towards the central city.
Because of the temporary mark, Ji Yuezhi's heat subsided slightly. He lay on his side on the back seat with his eyes closed.
By the time they reached the underground parking garage in the central city and Zuo Luohuan carried him out, Ji Yuezhi was starting to feel unwell again, his body burning hot.
"We're almost home," Zuo Luohuan soothed Ji Yuezhi, carrying him into the elevator.
Ji Yuezhi's consciousness was hazy. He wrapped his arms around Zuo Luohuan's neck, nestled in her embrace, his pale face flushed with an indescribable desire, his lips a stunning red.
Zuo Luohuan practically kicked open the door to her house, carried him into the bedroom, and placed him on the bed. Before she could turn around, Ji Yuezhi grabbed her hand, clearly not wanting her to leave.
Zuo Luohuan placed a light kiss on his forehead and coaxed, "I'm going to get things ready. I'll be right back."
Ji Yuezhi didn't let go. At a time like this, he had little reason left, only the desire for her to stay.
An Omega's heat could last for several days. If she didn't prepare things, he would be the one to suffer later.
Zuo Luohuan gently but firmly pulled his hand away and quickly left the room to get everything needed for a heat. Fortunately, when she had refurnished the house, she had specifically prepared for this.
She hadn't expected to need it so soon.
When Zuo Luohuan returned to the bedroom with the supplies, Ji Yuezhi had already torn his clothes into disarray. He was rubbing his face against her pillow, choked sobs mixed with his panting.
