SCOM - Chapter 114
Chapter 114
Most of the capital's signal towers had been destroyed. Only the Twenty-sixth Army had a hidden communication signal, which Guan Yuan's father had always believed was entirely under his control. He never expected all the robot dogs to malfunction.
Guan Yuan's father gritted his teeth, staring at the Military Committee members flying away in mid-air. He had clearly envisioned the future of the rebuilt Military Committee, with his Twenty-sixth Army as the Federation's strongest army group. What did it matter if the Gashiro people came in? All he needed was power.
Ren Pingbo had said he had no interest in controlling the capital. Guan Yuan's father was his contemporary and knew he had always been capricious. If he said he wasn't interested in the capital, he truly wasn't. In that case, wouldn't the power to control the capital fall to him?
But now, this group of people had ruined everything.
Ji Xixiu understood his son, and he understood the complete structural diagrams of the Military Committee even better. He gave Cha Lili some pointers, telling the team members where they might go.
Cha Lili immediately led his men to split up and search for the bomb disposal teams, and they soon ran into a retreating squad.
Qian Mao was among them. His team hadn't been found by Cha Lili; they had run into each other. "Retreat first and notify the General Captain. It's going to explode in ten minutes."
He realized there wasn't much time left, so he had turned back to find the other teams and tell them not to try disarming the bombs anymore. There were too many; they could only leave.
As soon as he came out, he ran into Cha Lili.
"Ten minutes?" Cha Lili hadn't expected it to really not be five hours. They weren't even given four.
"We have to get out and warn the General Captain," Qian Mao said.
"Explosion in ten minutes?" Ji Yuezhi wasn't surprised to hear the news brought by his team member. He looked back at the captured Guan Yuan. "We're retreating. Send people to find Guan Xue and the others."
Guan Yuan's father watched Ji Yuezhi and his group begin to retreat. Thinking they had rescued the Military Committee members and were trying to escape, he sneered, "You think you can just leave without leaving anything behind?"
Guan Yuan's father personally came down to order the Twenty-sixth Army to hold them back and fight to the death.
At the very least, the sons and daughters of those Military Committee members had to die here.
"Dad! This place is about to explode!" Guan Yuan suddenly began to struggle, shouting at his father, "It's going to explode in ten minutes!"
Guan Yuan's father was too far away and couldn't hear clearly. He could only make out the word 'explosion'. He thought his son was warning him that Ji Yuezhi's group had discovered the large number of explosives planted underground, which explained why they were in such a hurry to leave.
At this moment, Guan Yuan's father still didn't know that Ren Pingbo had already sold him out.
Cha Lili and his group had arrived by aircraft. After finding Guan Xue, some of them provided cover for Ji Yuezhi's party to leave, while the others boarded the aircraft and hovered in the air, waiting.
The Exoskeleton Legion's training over the past six months had greatly increased their strength. Having just experienced war in the Western Region, they were more vigorous and capable than the Twenty-sixth Army, which had been stationed in the capital all this time.
Moreover, the Twenty-sixth Army had lost the robot dogs they had always relied on and was already in a state of panic. Even with Guan Yuan's father issuing a death order, there was no way to salvage the situation.
Ji Yuezhi signaled for his men to gag Guan Yuan and shove him into a vehicle. The group sped away.
The Twenty-sixth Army tried to pursue them, but Guan Xue and her team sniped at them from a rooftop.
"Shoot down their aircraft!" Guan Yuan's father, his mind in chaos, pointed at the aircraft hovering above Guan Xue's building.
"Bye-bye now!" Guan Xue waited for her team members to get on before quickly climbing aboard herself. The aircraft instantly ascended, moving away from the Military Committee.
Inside the vehicle, Guan Yuan struggled frantically. Two people couldn't restrain him.
Sitting in the front, Ji Yuezhi raised his hand and glanced at the time. Less than ten seconds remained of the ten minutes.
At that moment, Guan Yuan's father was still inside, his face as grim as water. "After them."
"They stole the aircraft," a subordinate reported.
"Don't you know how to use cars?" Guan Yuan's father roared frantically. "Even if you have to crawl, you will catch those bastards!"
Just then, a member of the army group spoke up, "I heard them say it's going to explode in ten minutes."
"What ten minutes? How could they know better than us..." Before Guan Yuan's father could finish, he went rigid. They had made the explosives, and they had planted them, but the remote was in Ren Pingbo's hands. They had agreed on the time, but he had never personally seen when Ren Pingbo pressed the button.
Guan Yuan's father's face twisted. Before he could speak, a violent explosion suddenly erupted from the ground, engulfing the Twenty-sixth Army Group and countless robot dogs.
The pressure wave from the thunderous explosion even flipped over the last two vehicles of the Exoskeleton Legion's convoy. Fortunately, the members were wearing skeletal mechs and quickly jumped out of the cars. The last retreating aircraft was also swept up by the blast wave that erupted into the air. The fuselage shook violently, and the pilot desperately fought to maintain control to keep from crashing.
Guan Yuan, who was still struggling wildly, heard the explosion. He looked out through the shattered glass and instantly froze.
Ji Yuezhi, in the front, glanced back at him and made a gesture to the two men beside Guan Yuan. The team members took the opportunity to knock him unconscious.
Ji Yuezhi withdrew his gaze and looked ahead, his thoughts somewhat dazed, wondering how she was doing.
