SCOM - Chapter 55

Chapter 55

The nail had pierced straight through Zuo Luohuan’s palm. She hadn’t treated it, merely wrapping it with a cloth strip for several days. Not only had it failed to heal, but the edges of the wound had begun to fester.

Ji Yuezhi lowered his head, his long eyelashes like fluttering butterflies. With every blink, it seemed Zuo Luohuan’s heart skipped a beat. He remained oblivious, meticulously cleaning the festering edges of the wound, applying medicine, and finally wrapping Zuo Luohuan’s palm in gauze.

The Omega’s serious and indifferent demeanor reminded the Alpha of those unrelated days when he was enveloped in the scent of iris, warm and soft. He had loved to nestle in her arms, rubbing his long legs against hers. When the temperature felt just right, his beautiful eyes would curve into a smile, looking incredibly well-behaved.

On several occasions, the Alpha had desperately wanted to kiss the beautiful eyes of the Omega in her arms, but she always remembered he was only under the influence of his heat and the temporary mark. She had consistently suppressed the impulse, even when the hand holding the Omega was so tense with restraint that the knuckles turned white.

Though the bandaging was done, Ji Yuezhi didn’t stop. He wrapped her hand in a waterproof film and looked up at her. “Now you can go wash up.”

Zuo Luohuan only snapped back to reality upon hearing Ji Yuezhi’s voice. “Thank you.”

Meeting Ji Yuezhi’s eyes, she couldn’t help but recall her own sordid thoughts from moments ago. With a sense of fleeing in panic, she hurried toward the bathroom. Halfway through her shower, Zuo Luohuan found herself staring at her newly bandaged palm. It was only after a while that she remembered she had left him outside, wondering if he had gone.

Ji Yuezhi hadn't left. He walked back to the bar, carefully cupped the glass of water with both hands, and tilted his head back to slowly drink it all.

He glanced toward the balcony. It was raining outside.

Ji Yuezhi then looked toward the bathroom. He was very familiar with the layout here; he had stayed here for those few days.

The rain was getting heavier.

Ji Yuezhi pursed his lips, opened the door, and went downstairs to the garage to get his car.

When Zuo Luohuan emerged, enveloped in steam, she didn't see anyone and assumed he had left. She looked at the downpour outside the balcony and frowned. He was leaving in such heavy rain?

But just then, her optical computer lit up. It was a call from Ji Yuezhi.

Zuo Luohuan immediately answered and saw him sitting in a car, though he didn't appear to be driving.

“Zuo Luohuan, my car is out of gas,” Ji Yuezhi said bluntly. “Can you lend me some?”

“Where are you?” Zuo Luohuan asked.

Ji Yuezhi turned to look outside. “Still in the underground garage, next to your car.”

“Wait for me there.” Zuo Luohuan ended the call, strode to the entryway, opened the door, and went downstairs.

Before she entered the elevator, the middle-aged man who had borrowed a cigarette in the hallway before happened to be coming out. He saw Zuo Luohuan and nodded at her.

Standing in the elevator, Zuo Luohuan watched the numbers change, an inexplicable anxiety rising from deep within her. The moment the elevator doors opened, she strode toward her parking space.

Sure enough, a car was parked next to hers. It looked like it hadn't been driven in a while, covered in a thin layer of dust.

Zuo Luohuan walked up to the driver's side, bent down, and knocked on the window.

Ji Yuezhi lowered the window and looked up at Zuo Luohuan. “Does your car have enough gas?”

Zuo Luohuan had come down empty-handed, without any tools for siphoning gas. She pulled open the car door. “It’s raining too hard, and it’s getting late. You should stay at my place for the night.”

Seeing Ji Yuezhi hesitate, Zuo Luohuan added, “The clothes your father sent over last time are still here. You can change.”

“…Okay.” Ji Yuezhi got out and followed her back to the elevator.

Sharing a room, even sleeping in the same bedroom, was not unfamiliar to them. But this was the first time they were both completely lucid, without any external influences.

“You sleep in the bedroom. I’ll take the guest room,” Zuo Luohuan said, opening the bedroom door.

Ji Yuezhi stood at the doorway without entering, his eyes lowered to her bandaged hand. “The bedding in the guest room isn’t made. How will you sleep? Let’s just sleep together, like during the competition.”

Zuo Luohuan’s throat felt a little dry. “Okay.”

She soon discovered that the situation was far more complicated than during the military exercise. Back then, Ji Yuezhi had been in heat, and his father, considering an Omega’s sensitivity during that time, had chosen clothes made of light, soft fabrics.

During those days, Zuo Luohuan’s mind had been focused on comforting Ji Yuezhi, and she had paid no attention to what he wore. But just now, Ji Yuezhi had changed into an extremely light and thin, long white nightgown, and she felt a bit uncomfortable, averting her gaze.

It just felt… that nightgown was far too thin, almost translucent.

In the instant the Alpha looked away, she vaguely saw the two faint protrusions on the Omega’s chest.

The bed in the bedroom was huge. During the military exercise, a bed this size could have slept four or five people, but now Zuo Luohuan found herself wondering if she had ordered one that was a bit too small.

“I’m sleepy.” Ji Yuezhi’s clear, cool voice came from the side. He lay down with extreme naturalness, closed his eyes, and went to sleep, as if he wasn’t thinking about anything at all—as if he wasn’t the one who had deliberately picked a car with no gas and hadn’t bothered to refuel on the way.

Zuo Luohuan pressed the tip of her tongue against her back teeth and finally let out a small laugh. The chaotic thoughts in her mind had long since vanished. The only feeling that remained came from the Omega with an overwhelmingly strong presence beside her.

Only after turning off the lights did she dare to turn over and pull the blanket over him. But an Alpha’s vision was too good, or perhaps the large expanse of the Omega’s exposed collarbone was too white and dazzling. Even with the lights off, Zuo Luohuan saw it with perfect clarity in that instant.

“Good night.”

After Zuo Luohuan lay down, Ji Yuezhi suddenly spoke from beside her.

In the darkness, Zuo Luohuan smiled. “Good night… Captain.”

The warm skin seemed to melt in the Alpha’s palm, carrying the unique fragrance and soft pliancy of an Omega.

Every Alpha had dreams like this. Zuo Luohuan was no stranger to them, though she didn’t have them often, and even when she did, she was usually restrained. Perhaps because she had been in a bad mood recently, this time she allowed herself to sink into it.

Pushing aside the Omega’s long white shirt, she pressed down on him, listening to his suppressed sobs as her hands on his waist gradually tightened.

Zuo Luohuan’s mind was a chaotic mess. She could only remember how excited she was, how soft the Omega beneath her felt. When she suddenly snapped her eyes open, the previous sense of relaxation was gone, replaced by a tingling sensation on her scalp.

She looked down into her arms. There really was a person in a long white shirt, sleeping quietly, buried in the crook of her neck. Her hand was resting on his waist.

After a long moment, Zuo Luohuan remembered that Ji Yuezhi had stayed the night and was sleeping in the same bed with her.

The person who had been lying obediently on the other side of the bed before they went to sleep had now rolled over to her side, sleeping soundly pressed against her.

“…”

Zuo Luohuan’s entire body went rigid. She felt the strange sensation in her lower body, squeezed her eyes shut, and finally regained her composure. She glanced at the time: four in the morning.

She gently let go of him and, almost fleeing the master bedroom in embarrassment, ran into the bathroom.

After waking, Zuo Luohuan didn’t go back to sleep. She sat alone in the living room, aimlessly watching the news, waiting for the person in the bedroom to wake up.

—This is insane.

She even felt her actions were a grave insult to Ji Yuezhi. For someone as proud as him, if he knew she…

Zuo Luohuan casually tossed the remote control aside, raised an arm to cover her eyes, and felt her heart sink.
