SCOM - Chapter 38
Chapter 38
The United Military Academy had lost one energy block, but in exchange, the First Military Academy had dealt with the second-generation robot dogs while having the combat strength of three of their Alphas neutralized. No matter how one calculated it, An Yingjing had won this engagement.
However, the current situation didn't allow Ji Yuezhi to dwell on it. He was busy dealing with the two second-generation robot dogs that had been facing Zuo Luohuan.
Jiang Hong and Yan Yan could no longer stand, their faces flushed as they were clearly lost in hallucinations.
"Are An Yingjing's pheromones an aphrodisiac for Alphas?" Guan Xue glanced at the two of them. In this day and age, one's strength wasn't judged by their secondary gender, so the fact that the United Military Academy's captain was an Omega hadn't drawn much attention. After all, the First Military Academy's captain was also an Omega.
Who could have known An Yingjing's pheromones were like this? The United Military Academy must have gone to great lengths to suppress this information to ensure their victory in the exercise; even Jiang Hong's family hadn't gotten wind of it.
"Captain, I'll help you." After dealing with the second-generation robot dog on her side, Guan Xue immediately prepared to move toward Ji Yuezhi.
Ji Yuezhi stopped her, ordering coldly, "Throw those two into the water."
Hearing this, Guan Xue had no choice but to turn and drag Jiang Hong toward the stream, pinching his face hard with one hand. "Snap out of it! Don't drown yourself."
Qian Mao glanced at Ding Wuming on the stretcher, then at Yan Yan, who was banging his head on the ground. After a moment's hesitation, he slung his rifle over his back, rushed forward, grabbed Yan Yan under the arms, and dragged him to the stream's edge with gritted teeth.
"Let me help." Guan Xue came over and lifted Yan Yan's feet, and together they tossed him into the water. "Junior Yan is so heavy. It's a good thing the one on the stretcher is Junior Ding."
"Will they drown?" Qian Mao asked worriedly, watching the two splashing in the water. This long stream was shallow in some places and deep in others, and this particular spot was not in a shallow area.
"They're still splashing. I'll go in if they stop moving." Guan Xue turned her head back toward Ji Yuezhi.
The chips of the two second-generation robot dogs had been pierced, but Ji Yuezhi's arm was injured. Zuo Luohuan, meanwhile, remained standing in place, her head lowered and motionless. Her self-control was clearly stronger than the two in the stream. With An Yingjing gone, the Omega pheromones were gradually dissipating, and she was bound to recover after some time.
However, Guan Xue's assessment was too simplistic. After Ji Yuezhi dealt with the two robot dogs, he turned to check on Zuo Luohuan's condition. The moment he drew near, Zuo Luohuan seemed to sense him, raising a pair of bloodshot eyes to look at him.
She had reached her limit.
Ji Yuezhi scanned their surroundings. The reason he'd had Guan Xue throw Jiang Hong and Yan Yan into the water instead of simply leaving the area was that other locations might not be safe; there could be more ambushes.
"Get in the water for a bit," Ji Yuezhi said to Zuo Luohuan. "By the time you get out, the pheromones should have dissipated."
Zuo Luohuan didn't move.
Ji Yuezhi waited another moment before reaching out to take her arm, intending to forcibly lead her over.
His mind was entirely focused on getting Zuo Luohuan into the water to cleanse her of the clinging pheromones and to escape the residual scent lingering in the air. He was completely unaware that the wound on his own arm was still bleeding, dripping where they were joined, soaking her clothes. It trickled down, and a single drop finally flowed into her palm.
"You can go in now." Ji Yuezhi released Zuo Luohuan. Her back was to the stream, and he reached out to push her.
He met no resistance. In the preceding second, Ji Yuezhi saw Zuo Luohuan suddenly lift her eyes to stare at him. Then, she raised her hand and slowly licked away the drop of blood that had trickled down.
The next second, she shot out a hand, grabbed his collar, and pulled him into the water with her.
The instant he hit the water, Ji Yuezhi recalled everything he had learned about pheromones. A top-tier Alpha was extremely sensitive to an Omega's pheromones. Zuo Luohuan was in this induced state, and she had just tasted his blood...
"What the hell!" Qian Mao stared as the two of them fell into the water together, completely dumbfounded, wondering what had just happened.
Zuo Luohuan had dragged Ji Yuezhi into the water with her, but she was momentarily confused when the person she'd pulled in didn't resist. The next instant, however, she followed her instincts, pulling him closer and wrapping a hand around his waist.
If a camera were filming from above, the two in the water would have looked as if they were locked in an embrace.
With one hand on Ji Yuezhi's waist, Zuo Luohuan grabbed his injured arm with the other, helping him float to the surface.
"Your blood..." The moment they broke the surface, Zuo Luohuan held Ji Yuezhi tightly, her lips brushing against his ear as she whispered, "It's so sweet."
It mixes perfectly with my pheromones, the thought flashed through Zuo Luohuan's muddled mind, but she couldn't be bothered to say it aloud. Her lips brushed gently against Ji Yuezhi's soft, cool earlobe, and the surging feeling of irritation finally began to subside.
The moment she touched him, Ji Yuezhi had abandoned all resistance. He let himself be held by Zuo Luohuan, their clothes soaked and clinging to their bodies. Pressed together like this, he felt all his senses heighten.
Zuo Luohuan's body wasn't warm, unlike most Alphas. Ji Yuezhi had discovered this long ago; her palms were always cool.
Perhaps she was thinking the same of him. She buried her face in the crook of his neck, seeking out the faint scent of iris, and mumbled, "You're so warm."
The tips of Ji Yuezhi's ears flushed crimson. He turned his head, trying to evade her touch. They were still on the exercise grounds, surrounded by countless surveillance cameras. He was thankful for the other two struggling in the water, their splashing obscuring the view for anyone on the bank.
Zuo Luohuan draped Ji Yuezhi's injured arm over her shoulder, and her free hand went straight to the gland on the back of his neck, kneading it gently with an Alpha's proprietary air.
The instant she touched him, however, a shudder ran through Ji Yuezhi's body. He went limp, nearly biting through his lip to stifle any sound.
Ji Yuezhi's hand involuntarily tightened on Zuo Luohuan's shoulder. He tilted his head back, trying to escape her touch, a suppressed gasp caught in his throat. "Don't... don't touch."
Zuo Luohuan was far from clear-headed. Noticing that the iris pheromones had grown stronger, she only kneaded more freely, even feeling the urge to bite the Adam's apple Ji Yuezhi exposed as he tilted his head back.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ji Yuezhi saw Zuo Luohuan's expression. All his emotions instantly froze and vanished, leaving only a profound, hollow sorrow. She was never lucid. Is she just using me as a soothing agent? Because of An Yingjing.
Zuo Luohuan's attempt to bite his throat was thwarted as he shoved her away.
"Captain! Captain!" Seeing them separate, Qian Mao on the bank immediately extended his light gun and pulled Ji Yuezhi out of the river.
Ji Yuezhi didn't look back. Once on the bank, he thanked Qian Mao.
"You're welcome," Qian Mao said, then asked hesitantly, "Captain, what do we do now?"
Ji Yuezhi's face had become cold and pale. He glanced over at Jiang Hong and Yan Yan in the river. "We wait."
After Ji Yuezhi left the water, the scent of sweet iris gradually faded, and Zuo Luohuan's senses slowly returned. She couldn't clearly recall what had just happened, only that she had been fighting the second-generation robot dogs before her mind descended into chaos.
Zuo Luohuan looked over at Jiang Hong and Yan Yan, who were still splashing in the water, before pulling herself onto the bank. "What happened?" she asked the others.
Zuo Luohuan only half-listened to their explanation, her brow furrowing. As she walked toward them, she noticed Ji Yuezhi instinctively take a step back.
