SCOM - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
The curtains were drawn tightly, plunging the dorm room into darkness. Only the faint outline of someone lying on the bed was visible.
Zuo Luohuan rested one hand over her eyes, the thin blanket casually covering her waist. She slept restlessly, dreaming of something, fine sweat beading on her face. The knuckles of her loosely resting hand gradually tightened, her body tensing.
An overly familiar pheromone spread rampantly, unrestrainedly, into the surroundings. For a moment, Zuo Luohuan sensed something abnormal. Apart from the few days she was unconscious during the late stage of her differentiation, she had never released such a large amount of pheromones.
However... these thoughts were quickly pushed aside. Right now, Zuo Luohuan's mind was entirely focused on the warm, soft body in her arms. Lowering her eyes, she saw the person buried in her neck and shoulder, revealing a pale, beautiful nape, the gland facing her, like an innocent young beast clearly afraid of what was to come, yet still choosing to offer itself.
She tried hard to discern the other's pheromones but couldn't recall the scent, only feeling it was an extremely tempting pheromone for her, so much so that she completely lost control, raising her hand to press and knead the gland, filled with absolute possessiveness.
The gland beneath her fingertips was soft and hot. The person in her arms panted softly beside her ear. She finally succumbed to the temptation, lowered her head, bit down on the nape gland, marking and possessing him with her pheromones.
...
Zuo Luohuan's eyes snapped open. Just as she tried to see the other person's face in the dream, she startled awake. She propped herself up on the bed with both hands, breathing heavily, unable to collect herself for a long time.
This kind of dream...
Zuo Luohuan covered her forehead with her hands, cursing softly under her breath.
Just taking a nap after morning classes, and she actually had this kind of dream. Zuo Luohuan threw herself out of bed, walked to the window, yanked open all the curtains. The evening sun instantly poured in, reflecting in her eyes.
Only then did Zuo Luohuan feel completely awake and calm.
She went to the washroom to freshen up, changed into her military uniform. There was still over an hour before training time; she decided to head over early.
Today's training was combat, instructor Kang Guang. His classes were always intense, perfect for venting excess energy.
Before going downstairs, Zuo Luohuan opened her cabinet, took out weight bands, strapped them to her wrists and ankles, then left.
...
When the other six arrived one after another, Zuo Luohuan had already finished her run and was sitting by the training ground railing, resting.
"You're so early today?" Jiang Hong, the first to arrive, walked over, kicked the iron railing, looking at the sweat on Zuo Luohuan's forehead. "Training behind our backs?"
Zuo Luohuan glanced up nonchalantly. "Can't I?"
"What's wrong? Still haven't shaken off your bad mood." Jiang Hong, based on years of understanding her, felt something was off and asked strangely.
Zuo Luohuan leaned back lazily, her gaze unconsciously drifting towards the training ground entrance. Ji Yuezhi and Ding Wuming walked in side by side, likely coming from the Disciplinary Committee office, still discussing something.
The training ground lights were too bright, making her eyes feel a bit sensitive now.
Jiang Hong didn't get a reply. He turned, plopped down beside Zuo Luohuan, and waved a hand in front of her eyes. "Who are you looking at?"
Four people had entered the training ground one after another; Jiang Hong couldn't figure out who Zuo Luohuan was watching.
"Which people from the other three military academies' drill lists are worth noting?" Zuo Luohuan, as usual, didn't answer, instead turning her head to ask.
Mentioning serious matters, Jiang Hong immediately straightened up. "The Northern Military Academy has several strong fighters you should know. Yundong Military Academy has inherited Jia Hailan's style in command strategy these years; need to watch out for someone named Cha Lili. As for the United Military Academy... seems unremarkable, quite average in all aspects."
While they talked, the others had entered the training ground. Guan Xue discreetly lagged behind, looking at Ji Yuezhi's jacket. The small burn mark was gone. Right, it was the next day, he must have changed clothes.
But Guan Xue was still hung up on what she saw last night. She thought for a moment, didn't go over to Zuo Luohuan, but sent her a message instead: [Did you bring back the jacket from the trial?]
Zuo Luohuan received the message just as she stood up. She glanced at Guan Xue's message and replied: [? Brought it back. What, you like my jacket?]
Guan Xue: [...No, just asking. Did Ji Yuezhi return your jacket? I want to wear your jacket for a day too~]
Old jacket traded for new, naturally considered returned.
Zuo Luohuan: [He returned it. Also, get lost.]
She had never seen such a flirtatious Beta like Guan Xue.
Guan Xue felt wronged. Just asking out of concern, and Zuo Luohuan was so fierce. Serves her right that sparks splashed onto her jacket last time. Next time something similar happened, she definitely wouldn't remind her.
Firm in her thoughts, Guan Xue forgot she hadn't reminded Zuo Luohuan about it from the start, nor did she know the other person was completely unaware of the burn mark on the back of the jacket.
"All here, good." Kang Guang arrived punctually for class. Under the overly bright lights of the training ground, the scars on his face looked even more terrifying. Coupled with his smile, he resembled a string-pulling puppet villain from a horror movie.
Kang Guang walked a circle around the seven students, finally stopping in the middle. "Military drills emphasize teamwork. We need to learn wilderness survival, use various weapons, and most importantly, when encountering students from other academies, be able to beat them. But before we start today, there's one thing I really want to confirm."
His words dripped with ill intent.
"You guys have an anonymous forum, right? I remember posts about who's stronger, Ji Yuezhi or Zuo Luohuan, started a year ago and still have no conclusion. Didn't fight in the trial grounds either." Kang Guang pointed at the two. "Now, you two fight. Class starts after you finish."
Zuo Luohuan: "Instructor, you're abusing your power for personal reasons."
"I am abusing my power. You got a problem?" Kang Guang grinned. "You don't have to fight, but everyone else gets punished."
"..."
Finally, Zuo Luohuan and Ji Yuezhi had no choice but to step forward. Although news of their rivalry had spread since enrollment, this was the first time they truly faced each other, ready to fight.
"Hurry up, everyone's waiting for class," Kang Guang urged.
The other five were watching eagerly. Who wouldn't want to know the outcome of a fight between Zuo Luohuan and Ji Yuezhi?
Zuo Luohuan looked at Ji Yuezhi standing opposite her. His expression was indifferent, eyelashes lowered, casting a small, faint shadow on his high nose bridge. His figure was like a slender pine, elegant bones. She felt slightly dazed.
Ji Yuezhi attacked first, striking straight for her throat without mercy.
Even after differentiating into an Omega, his attack speed wasn't affected. Zuo Luohuan was startled, quickly retreating to dodge, simultaneously trying to grab his hand.
But Ji Yuezhi seemed to anticipate Zuo Luohuan's move. Just as she got close, he instantly changed his attack direction. His elbow struck her shoulder heavily. Before she could counterattack, another wave of dense attacks followed.
Unlike any opponent Zuo Luohuan had faced, Ji Yuezhi was like a precision calculating instrument, anticipating her every move, weaving layers of dense nets to trap his prey.
Zuo Luohuan was repeatedly forced back by Ji Yuezhi, her shoulder, forearm, leg... all taking hits.
The five spectators, plus Kang Guang, were all stunned by Ji Yuezhi's artistic combat style. Every attack carried an indescribable rhythm, yet lacked any superfluous movement.
Jiang Hong couldn't help muttering, "Some people's skill levels have nothing to do with their secondary gender differentiation." Ji Yuezhi was indeed strong enough.
Meanwhile, Zuo Luohuan, caught in the center of the attack vortex, was forced back step by step. She finally composed herself, found her own rhythm. When Ji Yuezhi's palm swept over, instead of retreating, she moved forward, using the force to grab his hand. The excessively smooth touch on his wrist made her pause for a second, but she quickly twisted it outwards forcefully.
If successful, Ji Yuezhi's hand would be broken.
Clearly, Ji Yuezhi also sensed Zuo Luohuan's move. The hand she held vibrated, his other hand immediately following up with an attack.
The distance between them closed again. With almost every move, they brushed past each other.
Too close...
So close Zuo Luohuan could smell the faint, light iris scent on him, unconsciously reminding her of the afternoon dream scene, holding someone just as close.
Finally, Zuo Luohuan found an opportunity. Her leg firmly blocked Ji Yuezhi's lower body attacks, her hands forcefully pinning his hands behind his waist. He could only press close to her, looking from afar more like he had fallen into her embrace.
Zuo Luohuan lowered her eyes to Ji Yuezhi's nape. The pale, delicate skin looked exactly like what she saw in the dream. She felt slightly dazed.
Losing focus during combat was taboo. Ji Yuezhi seized the moment, raised his elbow towards Zuo Luohuan. At that instant, he thought she would dodge, but she didn't.
Ji Yuezhi's elbow struck Zuo Luohuan's nose directly.
"..."
Zuo Luohuan released Ji Yuezhi, took several steps back, reaching up to cover her nose.
"Useless." Kang Guang shot Zuo Luohuan a cold glance, disdainfully. "This level?"
It was entirely Ji Yuezhi's solo performance. Kang Guang initially thought Zuo Luohuan might pull off some good moves later.
"Impressive!" Guan Xue whistled at Ji Yuezhi, feeling he was unprecedentedly charming, actually hitting Zuo Luohuan.
Ji Yuezhi stood rooted, lips pursed. Just now, her hands were almost clasped around his lower back. Now, that area still felt hot. He looked up towards Zuo Luohuan, saw her frown, casually wiping the blood from under her nose.
She wasn't happy.
Ji Yuezhi could clearly see it from Zuo Luohuan's actions and expression. Because he won?
Zuo Luohuan was indeed unhappy. She hadn't expected to have that kind of dream in the afternoon, and then come to the training ground at night still thinking about those messy things.
Wiping away the blood from her nose, she wasn't even sure if it was from the impact or if thinking about something inappropriate caused her qi and blood to surge.
Zuo Luohuan: "..."
"Alright." Kang Guang first pointed out the problems with both individuals, then said, "Pair up first, warm up. Later, you fight me."
Warming up still meant fighting. When Jiang Hong and Guan Xue came over, Zuo Luohuan showed no mercy.
"Damn it!" Jiang Hong's waist almost got kicked broken. He was speechless. "Zuo Luohuan, you lost and you're taking it out on us?"
...Zuo Luohuan became even more unhappy.
"Still fighting or not?" she asked, raising her eyes.
"Fight!" Jiang Hong was also fired up from being hit.
"Tsk tsk tsk, are Alphas all immune to pain?" Qian Mao nimbly dodged Yan Yan's attacks, shaking his head and sighing, "Anyone who didn't know better might think those two have some deep hatred."
Ji Yuezhi, sparring with Ding Wuming, caught Zuo Luohuan out of the corner of his eye, feeling somewhat envious of Jiang Hong, who was fighting her. When she fought him earlier, there seemed to always be an invisible barrier between them. Yet Jiang Hong could spar with her so casually.
...He wanted to get closer to her.
