Mr. Lizard Outside the Window - Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Chapter 54: A Feast from Heaven

From the moment his fingers touched the keys, Ling Dong knew he shouldn't have done it.

But he couldn't resist.

He had resisted when she played Zigeunerweisen alone, her music a lonely lament.

He had resisted when she knocked on his wall, a silent invitation.

He had endured the torment of her music, the sweet, mournful melody reaching out to him through the wall, tempting him, pleading with him to join her, to complete the duet, his small gecko body pressed against the cold, unyielding surface, his heart aching with longing.

But then, she had played "Mermaid," the song of their shared secret, a playful melody that tugged at his heart.

It was as if she was saying, I hear you, Xiao Lian. I hear your music, your heart.

Join me. Don't let the mermaid disappear. Give him a happy ending.

And so, he had transformed, drawn to the piano like a moth to a flame.

And now, she was at his door.

"Xiao Lian, open the door," she had said.

Ling Dong's apartment had a keypad lock, the only one in the building.

Banxia suddenly understood why. He didn't carry keys, not in his… other form.

"Open the door, Xiao Lian," she said again, her voice calm. "If you don't, I'll let myself in."

She knew his phone password. He had unlocked it countless times in front of her.

It was a date, the date of their first encounter, that rainy winter night.

She punched in the numbers.

The lock clicked open.

The hallway light spilled into the dark apartment, a rectangle of light stretching across the floor, illuminating the figure at the piano.

He sat there, shirtless, his pale skin gleaming in the dim light.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, the smooth lines of his torso…

He turned his head away as the light touched his face, his long eyelashes casting shadows on his cheeks.

In the half-light, his beauty was breathtaking.

Like a figure sculpted from ice and snow, delicate and ethereal, a creature of darkness.

Banxia leaned against the doorframe, watching him.

His lips were pressed tightly together, his gaze fixed on his hands, his long, pale fingers slowly curling into a fist.

He heard her footsteps as she entered the room and closed the door behind her.

The overhead light flickered on, the sudden brightness banishing the shadows, exposing every detail of the room, leaving him nowhere to hide.

Her hand, her calloused fingers, gently lifted his chin, forcing him to meet her gaze in the bright light.

There was no escape.

Her eyes, usually soft and gentle, now burned with an intensity that made his heart pound.

It wasn't the first time he had seen her angry, but the fire in her eyes, reflected in his own, ignited a blaze within him, consuming him, burning him alive.

He closed his eyes, surrendering, all resistance gone.

Let her do what she wants, he thought. Let her burn me alive.

Banxia studied his face in the bright light, his long eyelashes fluttering against his pale cheeks as her gaze traced the delicate contours of his features.

He's so beautiful, she thought, her heart aching.

She had imagined his face countless times, her fingers tracing his nose, his lips, his throat in the darkness, wondering what he really looked like.

But she had never imagined such breathtaking beauty.

All the colorful images in her memory, all the nameless faces in her dreams, now had a name, a face.

If it weren't for the more pressing matter at hand, she could spend the entire night just… looking at him.

She stepped closer, and he swayed, his back against the electric piano, the keys emitting a discordant jangle as he bumped against them.

Banxia closed the piano lid, trapping him against his beloved instrument.

"Why?" she asked, her voice low, her words measured. "Why did you leave? How could you just… abandon me?"

His throat bobbed, but he didn't answer.

"You'll tell me eventually," she whispered in his ear, her warm breath brushing against his skin, sending shivers down his spine.

"I'll make you happy, so happy you'll forget everything else, and then I'll ask you again. You won't be able to resist," she murmured, her words a seductive promise.

His ears turned crimson. He turned his head away, his voice barely a whisper. "I couldn't… leave you."

Ling Dong, raised with strict rules and expectations, his emotions always carefully controlled, was no match for Banxia's wild, untamed spirit, her playful teasing.

He confessed everything, his voice broken, his words tumbling out in a rush.

He couldn't leave her, he couldn't let her go, which was why he had run away, a desperate attempt to protect her from his own… monstrous form.

Leaving her had been like tearing his own heart out.

His inability to let go, his desperate longing to stay by her side, had made him act… irrationally.

But his time, his precious time in human form, was shrinking, and soon, he wouldn't be able to be with her, not like this.

Not just unable to maintain his human form, but perhaps… he closed his eyes, unable to voice his deepest fear, the terrifying possibility of his complete and utter disappearance.

Seeing him finally speak, Banxia smiled.

Xiao Lian's voice was low and seductive.

Senior Ling Dong's voice was cold and clear, equally captivating.

She had never imagined that they were… the same person.

He was the aloof, untouchable senior, the musical genius, his talent and beauty almost god-like, someone she had admired and respected, never daring to imagine anything… more.

And now, she had pulled him down from his pedestal, her hands on his body, her lips on his skin, a sacrilegious act, a thrilling transgression.

She had been intoxicated by Xiao Lian's touch, his kisses. And now, she had both of them, the aloof senior and the sweet, gentle lizard, a feast of delights laid out before her, a banquet of pleasures.

The beautiful deer, offering its throat, a willing sacrifice to the hungry predator.

It would be foolish not to… partake, she thought, her heart pounding with a mixture of desire and… something else, a tenderness she hadn't expected.

  1. BREAKING NEWS!!
The 'cold, aloof senior piano progidy' Ling Dong is in fact, a shy cute little (gecko) simp for the National Competition gold-medalist Banxia!

Residents from Yung Jie's renting tenament have always heard two Rongyin music students playing the violin and piano, both in solo and duet.

Successful novel writer Ling Shi, also known as 'Jade Face' gives his testimony: "I have always admired both musicians. Whenever they give life to their instruments, I gain the inspiration to overcome my writer's block. I don't go out often, and wake up late. As their neighbor, I hear their footsteps and overhear their faint voices. I know a lot."

According to their landlord, "They always give us good music ah! Whenever we play mahjong, we hear it all the way from upstairs. It's a free concert. I sometimes see Ling Dong come from her room. Turns out that handsome young lad is taken."

"Mister, this story says two people live in different rooms, but always goes to the other's place. Why don't they just go live together? How weird." A young girl holding a picture book can be seen in the camera, sitting at the first floor lounge.

[Couldn't get it out of my mind LOL]
