Princess Syndrome - Chapter 109

109: Loving Her

Chapter 109: Loving Her

Su Lingyue believed that she wasn't the kind of person who understood other people’s feelings. At least, that was how she was before. She had had a fiery temper, like she was carrying a lit match. She would explode over the smallest thing. But later, she had been worn down. She had become too lazy to care and didn't care about anything. Chu Yi had said that she was like a god, with no desires or needs.

She had also thought that she was indifferent to everything.

Until she had met Ji Zhiyi.

In the beginning, it had only been because she admired that face, that person, so she hadn't rejected what Ji Zhiyi had said about “trying to date.”

But at some point, everything about Ji Zhiyi had entered her soul, affecting her senses. Even the smallest thing would make her worry and cause her heartache.

Ji Zhiyi had said that she had never dated before.

So, Su Lingyue had been prepared for the difficulties and stumbles that would come with dating.

But there had been none.

Ji Zhiyi had given her the best.

She had always given her the best.

Su Qi, Haoyue, the PV patent, and even the night before their separation, she had still been thinking of designing a pair of custom-made high heels for her.

Su Lingyue poked at the rice bowl, her vision blurry. Zhang Xian, hearing her question, paused. She cautiously passed her a tissue. Su Lingyue pressed it over her eyes. She looked up, blinking under the tissue. Her eyes were still red.

She replied to Zhang Xian, "I'm full."

Zhang Xian didn’t dare to say anything. Seeing that she looked off, she couldn't help but ask, "Do you want to… have a drink?"

Su Lingyue looked at her, and nodded. "Okay."

She was very bold.

If she didn't have that choked up voice, she would have been even more imposing.

Zhang Xian took out the wine she had brought back from Ji Zhiyi's. She didn't even have time to let it breathe. She poured a glass for Su Lingyue. Su Lingyue swirled it, before saying, "Does Shen Yuan know?"

Was she referring to her ex-girlfriend, or Yilin’s conflict with Dingsheng?

Zhang Xian thought of these two questions.

But the answer was obvious. She shook her head. "No, she doesn't."

Su Lingyue replied, "I don't know either."

Her tone was very dejected.

Zhang Xian tried to console her. "President Ji, she..."

"Is afraid that I would worry. That I'd overthink," Su Lingyue replied, "I know."

Because last night, she had gone to find Shen Yuan and had also not told Ji Zhiyi.

So she understood.

But understanding was one thing. It was another to not feel sad.

Su Lingyue took a sip of her wine, and said, "Ji Zhiyi is too bad."

Zhang Xian: …

She thought that Su Lingyue had had too much to drink.

Su Lingyue continued, "She always does things that make my heart ache, and doesn’t even tell me! She's too bad!"

What a strange logic.

Zhang Xian didn’t know what to say.

She wet her lips. "Lingyue."

Su Lingyue's eyes were stinging. Her eyes were already red from crying at the restaurant earlier. Now her eyes were even more swollen and hurting. She blinked, pushing that sour feeling down. Her tissue was now wet. Su Lingyue replied, "I'm really not used to this."

Zhang Xian was confused. "What?"

Su Lingyue chuckled, "I'm really not used to having someone be so good to me."

Zhang Xian watched her.

Su Lingyue’s voice was soft and low, "One year, it was his birthday."

Was she talking about a man or a woman? Zhang Xian didn’t ask directly. She just listened as Su Lingyue spoke. "I prepared a birthday gift for him. I hid it in his closet. I wanted to surprise him when he opened the closet to change."

Su Lingyue laughed. "Then I heard a voice."

"He was talking to someone else."

"It was with Zhou Shiyu."

Zhang Xian understood.

She was talking about her father.

Zhang Xian couldn't help but ask, "What were they talking about?"

Su Lingyue replied, "They were talking about having kids."

Zhang Xian turned her head to look at Su Lingyue.

Su Lingyue’s expression was calm. Her gaze was looking ahead. Her pupils were wet, making the corners of her eyes look watery. She was pitiful, but her calm attitude didn't make her look weak. Instead, she gave off a sense of indescribable peace and beauty.

It was like she had survived a great storm and was now feeling a sense of peace.

Su Lingyue continued, "Zhou Shiyu wanted to have a child with him, and he said that he couldn't."

That he was unable to have a child.

He felt guilty towards Zhou Shiyu.

So he said, "It happened in the past two years. I’ve tried everything, I’m sorry. I should have had a child a few years ago."

Zhou Shiyu had cried and said that it was fine.

That he still had a daughter.

He sighed, "You know."

Know what?

She didn't know.

She didn't dare to listen anymore.

But she couldn't move.

She was trapped in the closet that she had opened, like a silkworm being wrapped in silk. She couldn't move. She was forced to hear their conversation, to hear Zhou Shiyu say that she was glad that they hadn’t abandoned her back then.

That long silence.

It was like she was accepting it.

When?

In that moment, she had suddenly thought that night her mother had been hospitalized, when she had been left in the park for the entire night. Turns out, they hadn't been unable to find her.

They had just not wanted to.

It was the first time that she had been betrayed by someone.

It was by the people closest to her.

That suffocating feeling would appear whenever she was betrayed by her friends. Like a silent hand was tightly holding onto her neck, not letting her breathe. She tried so hard to struggle. Every time, she would fight so intensely that everyone would know about it!

She had already gotten used to it.

She had gotten used to being betrayed.

Because she had gotten used to it, she had become numb. That's why she had become so cold, and unconcerned. She had never thought that there would be someone who would be so good to her, who would try so hard, who would love her with all their might.

Su Lingyue's eyes reddened.

Zhang Xian had never heard about these things before. No wonder Su Lingyue had no changes in her emotions in the past.

If it was her, she would have wanted to kill someone.

She wanted to comfort her, but she didn't know what to say. She could only pour Su Lingyue another glass of wine. Su Lingyue took a deep breath and drank it in one go. The wine had been too rushed, and she choked on it. She coughed, before swallowing the wine, not tasting anything. The air that she had swallowed while coughing rose up, escaping from her throat. She started to cough intensely.

Zhang Xian quickly patted her back.

Su Lingyue coughed until she was weak and limp. Her eyes were full of tears.

She said, "It's okay."

Zhang Xian looked at her.

Su Lingyue said, "It's a good thing that Ji Zhiyi didn't see me looking this pitiful. Do you think that she will regret liking me after seeing how ugly I look?"

She had only just revealed a bit of her weakness, but she wanted to go back and act as if nothing had happened.

Zhang Xian replied, "She wouldn't."

Su Lingyue looked at her.

Zhang Xian replied, "She wouldn't regret liking you. She would only love you even more."

Although she didn't know how Ji Zhiyi had fallen in love with Su Lingyue, the things she had done all revealed a deep love for her. So, she must really like Su Lingyue.

If she saw Su Lingyue right now.

She would probably only feel more heartache.

And love her more.

Su Lingyue was comforted by her words. She wiped her face and sat up, no longer looking dejected. She poured herself a glass, and another glass for Zhang Xian. She clinked glasses with her, "Thank you."

She had really been comforted.

Zhang Xian, seeing that she had recovered a bit, relaxed. She had a small drink with Su Lingyue.

The two of them were sitting on the sofa. Although they weren't very familiar with each other, they seemed to have become closer after everything that had happened. Su Lingyue's rationality returned. She put down her glass and asked Zhang Xian, "How has Su Qi been recently?"

Zhang Xian thought for a while. "Their collaboration with Baoshun is going smoothly. They're doing pretty well."

She thought that Su Lingyue was worried about the processing plant's materials.

She comforted her, "The better they do, the better it is for us."

Su Lingyue nodded. "I want to talk with Zhou Shiyu."

Zhang Xian quickly turned her head. Because of the shock, she had squeezed the glass in her hand. She asked, confused, "Huh?"

Su Lingyue replied, "I want to go find her and talk about the PV patent."

Before she had known, she had been able to calmly discuss the project with Shen Yuan. How could she accept it now?

Zhang Xian wanted to say something.

But she felt that she was being despicable.

It had been her who had mentioned the conflict between Yilin and Dingsheng when Su Lingyue was about to reach an agreement with Shen Yuan. She had also said something about the issues between Ji Zhiyi and Jiang Ya. And now she was trying to persuade Su Lingyue not to look for Zhou Shiyu.

Wasn't this shooting herself in the foot?

In the end, she was still being selfish.

She was biased towards Ji Zhiyi.

She hoped that even if Su Lingyue made a choice, she would do it after knowing everything Ji Zhiyi had done. She replied, "I'm sorry, Lingyue."

Su Lingyue turned her head to look at her. "Why are you apologizing?"

Zhang Xian acknowledged, "I’m just..."

"You were afraid that Ji Zhiyi would be wronged," Su Lingyue replied, "There’s no need to apologize. I should be thanking you."

Zhang Xian was astonished. "Thanking me?"

Su Lingyue replied, "Yeah."

If it hadn't been for Zhang Xian.

She wouldn't have known that Ji Zhiyi loved her so much.

So she was very thankful to Zhang Xian.

Zhang Xian was both crying and laughing.

She had played the bad guy, and was being thanked. She felt even more guilty. Su Lingyue had made up her mind, and stood up. "I'm going to wash up first."

Zhang Xian replied, "There’s a new set of toiletries in the bathroom."

Su Lingyue’s voice floated out. "No need, I have my own."

Oh, right. She had just moved out, so all of her things were still here.

Zhang Xian watched her go into the bathroom. She had never felt that the living room was so empty when she was alone. Su Lingyue had only been here for a while, but it had felt very lively. Now that it had calmed down again, it felt so empty.

Or perhaps it wasn't empty.

She just wanted to be in love.

She had been affected by Su Lingyue and Ji Zhiyi's relationship. She had been emotional. Falling in love was so great. She wanted to date too. Zhang Xian was teary-eyed as she drank her wine.

Su Lingyue came out of the bathroom after washing up. Zhang Xian said, "You had a call earlier."

She called Su Lingyue's name, but Su Lingyue probably hadn’t heard her. She was just about to hand the phone to Su Lingyue when the call ended.

Su Lingyue glanced at her phone. The name "Chu Yi" was displayed. "It's my friend. I just asked her about Su Qi."

Zhang Xian nodded.

She looked at Su Lingyue.

Seeing her getting ready to go into her room, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you really going to go to Su Qi?"

Su Lingyue stopped when she heard this. She turned her head to look at Zhang Xian. The alcohol hadn’t numbed her mind. Instead, it had made her more awake. She knew what she was doing, and the decisions she had made. She nodded. "Yeah, I'm going to Su Qi tomorrow."

Zhang Xian, seeing her determined gaze, felt the blood in her body boil for no reason.

It wasn't as if she was the one who was in love, or the one being chosen so resolutely.

What was she so excited about?!

But she was still happy, and happy for Ji Zhiyi. She nodded. She heard Su Lingyue say, "Oh right, if Ji Zhiyi asks..."

Zhang Xian made an OK gesture at her, smiling. "I understand, don't say anything, right?"

Su Lingyue paused, before refuting her, "Why not say anything?"

Zhang Xian was confused.

Why was Su Lingyue always so unpredictable?

Zhang Xian asked uncertainly, "Then, tell her the truth?"

Su Lingyue replied as a matter of fact, "Yeah, if she asks, then you should tell her the truth."

She also wanted Ji Zhiyi to know.

She also wanted Ji Zhiyi to know that there was someone named Su Lingyue, who was currently loving her.
