Invasion - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Xun Hua waited for the blade to fall.
He had seen this sentinel wield his blade, it was very fast, and very cold, it should be able to easily sever his neck, ending his filthy and ugly life.
Xun Hua knew that he might not find peace after death, but he was too tired, he no longer wanted to think.
In the end, whose hands his body would fall into, what it would be used for, he no longer cared.
He had wanted to close his eyes, but he couldn’t help but want to look at that golden heart one last time before he died.
The heart-shaped pendant was floating in the enclosed treatment pod, so far away from him.
During those dark years, he had seen this pendant countless times, that small, heart-shaped stone, hanging around that girl’s neck.
That girl who would smile at him was already gone, actually, she had already died four hundred years ago.
All these years, she must have suffered a lot.
A small tentacle emerged from the ground.
It sleepily curled its suckers, crawling towards Xun Hua, who was lying on the ground, without hands or feet, only his torso remaining.
The tentacle climbed onto his metallic mask, its tip sticking to the spot between his eyebrows.
Between Guides, as long as they were willing, mental communication was very easy.
Content that required a long paragraph to describe with words, in the mental world, only needed a few images to be transmitted.
Xun Hua heard a voice in his mind.
【There are some things I want to show you.】
【Although I'm very sleepy ~~ yawn ~~ I really want to sleep.】
【But forget it, after all, it’s something a friend I like very much asked me to do.】
So, images that didn't belong to his memories appeared in the mind of the man whose eyes were covered by a golden mask.
In a pitch-black world,
He heard a familiar voice.
“He’s my bright moon.”
“Even if it falls into the gutter, the moon will always be the moon.”
In the dark world, a faint light seemed to appear, and a girl ran in that hazy light.
“Yuan Yuan, can you help Xiao Xun?” The girl’s voice was very gentle, she turned her head, looking over here. “Take him away from here.”
It wasn’t his memory, but a scene that Lin Yuan had seen.
But that girl, turning to look, her smiling face so close.
It was as if she was by his side, running, holding his hand. Starlight sparkled in her bright eyes as she smiled, always looking at him.
Xun Hua, as if in a dream, was pulled by her as they ran. He felt his dead heart slowly beating in his chest.
The girl running by his side, her body dissipating along the way, but with a smile still on her face.
Not like the person who had died in his dreams many years ago, but like a young woman running in the moonlight.
Her arms reached out. Xun Hua knew that these were someone else's memories.
Windsor's hands weren't reaching for him.
But the feeling was incredibly real. The girl’s soft skin touched his shoulder, wrapped around his neck. The place she touched felt so hot, as if there were flames burning.
Windsor’s hands were around his shoulders, her gentle eyes watching him. Her body lifted off, and her forehead gently touched his cold, golden mask.
“Don’t be sad for me, I hope you’ll be happy, live in the light.”
“I…” The incomplete Guide murmured softly, “Am I still worthy of living?”
He lay on the cold floor of the treatment room.
“Of course. Although I also feel that living is very tiring, it still feels better to be alive,” Lin Yuan’s voice came through the mental connection.
She was lying in the cold, green solution.
A long time passed, so long that Lin Yuan almost fell asleep again.
She heard a very, very faint voice.
That voice was incredibly soft and weak, but fortunately, she still heard it.
“Does your home… still need a gardener?”
“We need a gardener, desperately, it's a very important position, we can't live without one, the courtyard is a mess, life is impossible…”
The golden heart-shaped pendant hung on Lin Yuan’s chest, gently swaying in the water.
Her friend's dying wish, she had fulfilled it.
The tension in her heart eased, and she finally fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.
Amidst the gurgling sound of green waves,
The pain gradually receded, she seemed to have returned to the deep sea, back to the place where she had begun, back to the cradle that lulled her to sleep.
She vaguely felt like she had died, and yet she had just been reborn.
…
Ni Ji saw a thin tentacle appear, touching the mutated creature’s mask.
Beneath the golden mask, a human tear flowed down.
The tentacle fell from the mask and weakly crawled towards him. Ni Ji knelt down on one knee, extending his left hand to catch the weak-looking tentacle.
The tentacle wriggled, quickly climbing up the back of his hand, moving upwards.
The moist wrist foot, the sucking sucker, against his skin, that incredibly distinct feeling.
Ni Ji's pupils constricted, it brought back some dark memories.
Those terrifying memories were deeply ingrained in his bones, corroding his soul, making him tremble, he couldn’t even control the shuddering of his body.
But he couldn’t bring himself to reject the dying little tentacle at this moment, he could only clench his teeth, watching as it wriggled up the muscles of his arm.
Even worse, his tactical suit’s top, which he had taken off to wrap around the hilt of his blade, had long been torn to shreds in the battle, there was nothing to cover him.
The dying little tentacle didn't notice the sentinel's predicament at all, the contact with his skin making it feel happy, it twisted, getting comfortable, before falling asleep, nestled against its beloved little fish.
【We can't hurt him, we have to bring him home.】
Before returning to silence, the little tentacle transmitted its thoughts, clinging to the sentinel’s skin.
Who knew how much time passed.
Inside the enclosed treatment pod, the Guide, floating in the green solution, slowly opened her eyes.
The sentinel who had been guarding the treatment pod immediately stood up, approaching the transparent pod cover, leaning down to observe the Guide's recovery.
Perhaps because of the green liquid, Lin Yuan’s eyes, floating in the treatment pod, looked a little strange.
Through the bubbling, swirling green solution, her pupils were multicolored, empty and indifferent, faintly glowing, not quite human, like a deep-sea creature lurking beneath the green waves.
Those eyes moved, and when they saw the sentinel close to the glass cover, her throat moved slightly, like a hungry shark smelling blood, suddenly emerging from the seabed.
Ni Ji's heart skipped a beat, and before he could even stand up, countless thick tentacles appeared in the air.
Twisting and intertwining, they wrapped around the sentinel’s waist and limbs, grabbing his head, pressing him against the transparent glass cover.
The moment his ankles and thighs were bound, the battle-hardened warrior sensed a fleeting chance to escape.
But he didn’t know if it was the tentacles’ softness, or the familiar face emerging from the water, that caused his body’s actions to inexplicably hesitate for a moment.
This was a warrior with sharp instincts, who acted decisively, he had never made such a mistake on the battlefield. The hesitation made the chance to escape slip away.
The thick tentacles twisted and intertwined, firmly restraining him, pressing his entire body against the glass cover.
His hands and feet, his waist, all parts where he could exert force, were tightly bound. Unless he was willing to use his blade to cut the tentacles, there was almost no way for him to resist.
Those tentacles weren't as gentle and reserved as usual.
They were aggressive and cold, their sticky wrist feet roaming, unceremoniously exploring the prey they had captured.
Lin Yuan inside the treatment pod floated up, her long black hair, fair face, indifferent eyes. She emerged from the dark green water, approaching Ni Ji through the glass.
Her delicate palm pressed against the inside of the transparent glass, her fingertips fair, touching Ni Ji's cheek through the glass.
"Lin… Yuan…"
Ni Ji managed to say her name with difficulty, a tentacle taking advantage of the opportunity to cover his mouth, muffling his voice.
Fortunately, after these words were spoken, as if awakened, Lin Yuan's eyes gradually regained their clarity, waking up from her slumber.
The violent tentacles receded from the sentinel like a tide.
Lin Yuan blinked, as if having just woken up. As if she found it strange that the sentinel was pressed against the glass window in front of her like this.
Oh my god, I have so many theories right now 😫
