Princess Syndrome - Chapter 92

92: Come In

Chapter 92: Come In

When it came to coaxing people, once you had done it once, you would do it a second time, and then a third time, and then you would become skilled at it, and it would become second nature. At least, that was what Su Lingyue thought. But the truth was that the moment she realized that Ji Zhiyi was displeased, her heart still skipped a beat. She felt a little uneasy, as if she was a person who had been floating on a piece of driftwood that had suddenly flipped over, and she was now immersed in the water, and she had a sense of insecurity.

This sense of insecurity lasted until the end of the filming.

The director invited her to dinner, but Su Lingyue declined. But she did book a hotel for them. Before she left, Yang Zhizhi glanced at her. After Su Lingyue had rejected her, the two hadn't talked again. Of course, she felt that she didn't have any reason to be angry. Was Su Lingyue supposed to accept her offer?

What did she think she was?

Even though she thought that way, when she looked at that plain face, Yang Zhizhi still felt a little stuffy in her heart. The truth was that Su Lingyue wasn't someone who couldn't be persuaded. She would come to the studio when she was asked, and she would help with their lines when they asked. Whatever she was asked to do, she would complete it with an unchanging expression.

Then why was she not willing to be her manager?

She had even promised that the terms would be better, even better than Yilin's, and that as her manager, she would be free. If Su Lingyue didn't want to, and didn't want to learn, she could just stay home every day and still get paid.

Yang Zhizhi thought that she had never offered such a job to anyone else.

Yeah, anyone else.

Perhaps from that moment, her feelings for Su Lingyue had changed, but she just hadn't realized it.

So many times, she had felt upset because she had hoped that Su Lingyue would be a little bit different with her, and that she wouldn't be the same as everyone else, but it was very obvious that Su Lingyue’s feelings for her hadn't changed.

It would be strange if they had changed. Given their relationship in the past, it was already good that Su Lingyue didn’t hate her.

Yang Zhizhi thought with a sense of defeat. It seemed that she still hadn’t managed to shake off Su Lingyue’s dislike for her. This made her feel dispirited. After the filming had ended, everyone was packing up their things. She was removing her makeup when a member of the crew asked: "Did Assistant Su leave?"

She looked at the person who had spoken in the mirror.

The staff member wearing blue said: "She just left. There were some people who wanted to try and get her WeChat."

Another person helped lift the cabinet, and said quietly: "She's too beautiful. I heard that a director had even asked her to be in a movie. With that face, she could be a vase, and I'd still be able to watch her for two hours."

"Who wouldn’t?"

The casual joking voices passed behind her. Yang Zhizhi continued to remove her makeup, but the more she looked at herself in the mirror, the stranger she felt. If she had been nicer to Su Lingyue from the beginning, if...

Yang Zhizhi closed her eyes.

She called for her assistant, and reached out: "My phone."

Her assistant, seeing that she still hadn’t finished removing her makeup, still handed the phone over to her.

Yang Zhizhi held her phone, but then slumped.

What was she supposed to say?

Her assistant, seeing her hesitation, was confused: "Zhizhi, what's wrong?"

Yang Zhizhi said: "If someone doesn't like you, but you want to have a good relationship with her, what would you do?"

Oh my god.

Yang Zhizhi had never thought that she would ask anyone such a question!

She wasn't the type to be diplomatic, but she never had conflict with anyone, because she knew this circle very well. Today, you are popular. Tomorrow, she will be popular. Anyone had that potential. Thirty years to the east of the river, and thirty years to the west, so even if she didn't like them, she would be kind on the surface.

So why, when it was about Su Lingyue, couldn’t she control herself?

Yang Zhizhi felt annoyed again.

Her assistant thought that she had offended someone at work, and quickly gave her ideas: "Then how about giving them a gift that they like?"

Yang Zhizhi repeated: "Gift?"

Her assistant said: "Yeah, after all, you're not supposed to hit people who are smiling at you. First, give them something they like, and then ask them to have a meal, and apologize.”

Yang Zhizhi thought about it.

It seemed that she didn't know what Su Lingyue liked.

If she sent something blindly and Su Lingyue didn’t like it, then she would have more to lose than gain.

But if she asked?

That wouldn’t be very sincere.

She glanced at her assistant, and really wanted to start from her, but she thought for a long time, and still didn’t speak. Her assistant was still helping her analyze the situation: "Is it a man or a woman? How old are they?"

Yang Zhizhi removed her makeup, and pretended to be casual, her hands shaking with tension: "The same age as me, and it's a woman."

“Then you can give her perfume? Isn't that perfume you endorsed recently sold out? It has great reviews, and I think it's very suitable.”

Perfume?

The scent of Su Lingyue’s perfume seemed to have never changed. It had always been that scent. It was pure and light, which gave off a unique noble and elegant feeling. She nodded: "Have the brand send over a custom set."

“Custom?” The assistant definitely knew that it wasn’t for sale to the public. It was a private custom made item for Yang Zhizhi. She was willing to use that to give it to someone?

Yang Zhizhi didn't say anything more: "Mm."

The assistant was confused: "Okay, I understand. What address should I send it to?"

Yang Zhizhi was too embarrassed to say it directly, so she sent an address to the assistant. The assistant then understood, and looked at Yang Zhizhi. So it was for Assistant Su. That was true, that night Su Lingyue had helped them so much. Not to mention a custom set, she could even arrange a custom outfit for Su Lingyue. Moreover, with what Yang Zhizhi had done before.

No wonder she had said that she wanted to build a good relationship.

Now, Yang Zhizhi was also Yilin’s spokesperson. She definitely had to have a good relationship with her.

She patted her chest: "Zhizhi, don't worry, I'll take care of it!"

Yang Zhizhi raised her eyebrow.

Su Lingyue didn’t delay and went straight back to the company. She was a bit nervous when she got to the garage. She took a deep breath, tried to calm down and got on the elevator. When she got to the president's office, she saw that the door was closed. Su Lingyue asked: "Is President Ji inside?"

Secretary Zhang said: "She's in a meeting."

Su Lingyue looked at Wu Meiyan’s desk, and no one was there either.

She hadn’t messaged Ji Zhiyi before coming back, so she didn't know that she was in a meeting. Since she wasn't there, she sat down, and kept looking toward the door from time to time. The office was busy, and she also didn't have any time to relax. She got back to work, and didn’t even notice when Ji Zhiyi had come back.

It was Ji Zhiyi who had knocked on her desk: "Assistant Su, come in."

Hearing that familiar voice, she wanted to smile, but realizing that she was still at the office, she straightened her expression, and put on a fearless look.

Everyone: ...

So pitiful.

President Ji temporarily wouldn't be at the company, and she was definitely going to take advantage of this last chance and torture her, right?

Ji Zhiyi: ...

She really didn’t need to act that much.

Su Lingyue went into the office, and closed the door. Her expression instantly changed, as she smiled: "Ji Zhiyi."

She was able to switch from a serious mode to a playful one.

Ji Zhiyi glared at her.

Su Lingyue said: "Yang Zhizhi really wanted me to be her manager, and it was because she wanted to thank me."

Ji Zhiyi looked at her with raised eyebrows.

Su Lingyue felt a bit uncomfortable from her gaze.

Ji Zhiyi said: "Do you know what a manager does?"

Su Lingyue thought for a moment: "I don't."

Ji Zhiyi said: "Does she know that you don't know?"

Su Lingyue opened her mouth: "She..."

Of course, she knew.

But she still wanted her to be her manager?

To have her as her guardian?

Su Lingyue wasn’t able to think of that, but she also knew that Yang Zhizhi must be trying to use her, so she said: "Could she also be trying to use me?"

Ji Zhiyi: ...

She just stared at Su Lingyue.

Su Lingyue felt uncomfortable under her gaze, and said: "Why are you looking at me like that? You used me before too.”

She was even retaliating by bringing up the past.

Ji Zhiyi was amused.

Su Lingyue, hearing her laugh, had a sense of self-satisfaction, but she still needed to explain things to Ji Zhiyi: "Don't worry, I won't be her manager."

After she said that, she raised her hand: "I promise."

She really had no desire to enter the entertainment circle. If she had an interest, she would have already taken the chance to learn how to act when the director had come looking for her.

Ji Zhiyi grabbed the hand that was promising her.

Su Lingyue, her hand being held in Ji Zhiyi's, asked: "You're not angry anymore, right?"

Ji Zhiyi lowered her eyes, and didn’t speak.

Su Lingyue crouched down, and looked up at Ji Zhiyi, who was sitting in the office chair. She rested one hand on Ji Zhiyi's knee, and looked into her eyes: "Ji Zhiyi."

Her voice was gentle.

Ji Zhiyi still didn’t respond.

Su Lingyue’s voice became slightly louder: "Ji Zhiyi?"

Ji Zhiyi’s eyes met hers. Su Lingyue was smiling, with light makeup, and looking up. Her eyelashes were curled, making her eyes seem a bit rounder than usual. They were bright and full of life, with a coaxing and teasing tone, and she was looking at her while leaning on her knee, with her reflection in her eyes, which was so small.

She was just holding Su Lingyue’s hand, and had pulled her a bit closer. Su Lingyue’s upper body leaned forward, her chest leaning against her legs. Ji Zhiyi lowered her head, and used her other hand to hold Su Lingyue's nape, and lifted her head.

The door was suddenly knocked.

Secretary Zhang’s voice could be heard: "President Ji."

Su Lingyue was startled and subconsciously wanted to get up, but she was held in place by Ji Zhiyi, and was still in the same position, with her face slightly upturned. Ji Zhiyi even bent over, her face close to hers, their noses almost touching.

She was anxious: "Outside."

Ji Zhiyi said: "What about the outside?"

Su Lingyue wanted to get up, but she didn't know why, but she just couldn't use her legs. She was held in place, and said: "It's Secretary Zhang!"

Ji Zhiyi said: "I know."

Su Lingyue was furious: "Then why won't you let me go?"

Ji Zhiyi said: "But I haven't had a chance to repay you."

Just as she was saying that, the door was knocked again.

This time the sound was a bit louder: "President Ji."

Su Lingyue’s eyes darted toward the door. However, she was blocked by the table, and couldn't see anything. When she couldn’t see it, it created a sort of invisible pressure. She felt as if Secretary Zhang was going to open the door and come in any second now. Her heart was pounding, unsure of what she was nervous about. All of her nerves were on high alert. Her neck was still being held by Ji Zhiyi's hand, and her other hand was being held tightly in Ji Zhiyi's palm. It felt as if her heart was beating right next to her ear, and it was pounding with a boom!

Her legs suddenly didn’t have any pressure on them. Just as she was about to get up, she heard Ji Zhiyi say: "Come in."

She couldn't believe it, and she opened her eyes wide. Ji Zhiyi had even kissed her the moment after she had said those words.

That softness had caused a bang!

Su Lingyue's ears buzzed!

She was dazed.

Just as the doorknob was being turned, and the door was about to be opened, she crouched down, lowering her head, and her eyes rapidly filled with tears.
