Princess Syndrome - Chapter 82
Chapter 82: Intense
Ji Zhiyi was very worried, wanting to take Su Lingyue to the hospital, but Su Lingyue insisted that she was fine and would be better after a night's sleep. She guaranteed again and again that it was just a matter of sleeping, and that Ji Zhiyi could always measure her temperature. If her temperature rose again, it would still be in time to go to the hospital. Seeing Ji Zhiyi’s serious expression, Su Lingyue used her trump card: “I don’t like going to the hospital.”
Coupled with her pitiful gaze and her weak state due to the fever, Ji Zhiyi instantly lost her temper.
Su Lingyue took her hand, and said, "Okay?"
Ji Zhiyi looked down at her. Su Lingyue tilted her head slightly, her beautiful hair falling down. In her bangs, her bright eyes were filled with a hazy mist. They were watery. With her acting spoiled like this, who could say no?
Seeing that she wasn't speaking, Su Lingyue smiled: "Then, I’ll go rest."
Ji Zhiyi said: "Change your clothes."
Su Lingyue nodded: "Then I’ll go take a hot shower."
Ji Zhiyi said, "You shouldn't take a hot shower when you have a fever."
Su Lingyue listened obediently: "Okay."
She got up, and then remembered that she hadn’t brought any clean clothes. She was about to tell Ji Zhiyi to go back and get them, when Ji Zhiyi took some clean clothes from a bag and handed them to her. Su Lingyue asked: "Are these yours?"
Ji Zhiyi said: "I bought them in your size."
Su Lingyue was confused by the fever: "Why did you buy me underwear?"
After she said that, the air was silent for two seconds.
Su Lingyue realized, and she grabbed the bag. She whizzed past Ji Zhiyi and said: "I’m going to go change my clothes."
Ji Zhiyi watched her figure disappear into the bathroom doorway, and lowered her head to organize the medicine boxes on the coffee table. She heard her phone vibrate. It was Su Lingyue's phone. Normally, she wouldn't intentionally look at Su Lingyue's phone, but it just happened to be on the coffee table. The screen had just lit up, and she just happened to see a WeChat friend request notification.
It was such an ordinary thing.
Especially since she had just attended a banquet tonight. Maybe it was a secretary, maybe...
Ji Zhiyi couldn’t lie to herself.
She really wanted to know who had sent the friend request.
When Su Lingyue came out of the bathroom, Ji Zhiyi was sitting on the sofa. On the coffee table was a glass of warm water, still steaming, and next to it was a packet of cold medicine that had already been dissolved. Ji Zhiyi had her head down, playing on her phone. When she heard the noise, she looked up. Su Lingyue was wearing a pink silk pajama set. Her beautiful hair was loose, falling down her back. She had taken off her makeup, and there were still water droplets in her hair, which were shimmering in the light.
She said, "Drink your medicine first. I ordered some rice porridge. After you eat it, you can rest."
Su Lingyue made an "oh" sound. This time she didn't say she didn't want to eat.
She sat down next to Ji Zhiyi, picked up her phone, opened it, and said softly, “Hmm?”
Ji Zhiyi changed her posture, pretending to be casual: "What's wrong?"
Su Lingyue said: "Shen Yuan added me as a friend."
Ji Zhiyi tilted her head.
Su Lingyue said: "Probably to thank me."
Ji Zhiyi asked: "Thank you?"
Su Lingyue accepted the friend request, and simply recounted the events to Ji Zhiyi. She was indignant, completely unlike her usual indifferent attitude towards other matters. Ji Zhiyi clenched her phone, her face taut.
While Su Lingyue was speaking, she realized that Ji Zhiyi had stopped talking.
She turned her head, and came to her senses: "What’s wrong with you?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "It's nothing. It's good that nothing happened."
Her tone was bland.
After Ji Zhiyi finished speaking, she got up: "I'm going to take a shower."
Su Lingyue nodded. She watched Ji Zhiyi go into the bathroom, and she felt like Ji Zhiyi was unhappy.
She dawdled by the bathroom door, wondering why Ji Zhiyi was unhappy. Was it because she thought she was nosy, that she shouldn't have interfered with Shen Yuan's affairs? But there was a reason for her interference. If it were a matter of public business, she definitely wouldn't have interfered.
After all, she didn't like Shen Yuan either.
But what Shen’s mother had done had made her feel a sense of shared anger, so she had interfered.
Would Ji Zhiyi think that she had said she hated Shen Yuan yesterday, and was now helping her today, which showed she wasn’t trustworthy?
Su Lingyue felt uneasy, with a strange sense of unease. She leaned against the bathroom door, knocked, and called out, “Ji Zhiyi.”
Her voice was soft.
Ji Zhiyi turned her head. She saw a figure outlined against the door.
She said, "Why aren't you drinking your medicine? What are you doing standing here?"
Su Lingyue gave a lame excuse: "I was seeing if there's anything I could help you with."
Ji Zhiyi said, "How about you come in and scrub my back?"
Su Lingyue: ...
Beating around the bush wasn't her style. Seeing this, she simply asked directly, "Are you angry?"
Ji Zhiyi found this funny.
Her senses were so sharp now.
She could even tell that she was angry.
Ji Zhiyi said, "So what if I am?"
Su Lingyue said, "Are you angry that I meddled in Shen Yuan's affairs?"
The door was opened. Ji Zhiyi hadn’t taken off her gown yet. She had only loosened the drawstrings and let her low ponytail fall down her back, her bangs falling in front of her, covering some of her eyebrows. Her gaze was fixed on Su Lingyue: "I'm not angry about that."
Su Lingyue was confused: "Then what are you angry about?"
Ji Zhiyi said: "You seemed very indignant?"
Su Lingyue said: "Who wouldn't be indignant after encountering something like that?"
Ji Zhiyi said: "You weren't this indignant about what happened with Miss Yang last time."
“That’s!” Su Lingyue paused.
She wanted to say that it was different.
She had been able to bash Zhou Yan over the head.
But she couldn't hit Shen's mother.
It was a helpless anger that made her think of her dad.
Ji Zhiyi was very patient.
Su Lingyue said, "Didn't you ask me why I lived with Chu Yi?"
As if in an instant.
Ji Zhiyi understood.
She asked, "Zhou Yan?"
Su Lingyue conceded.
She said, "The day I came back from the graduation trip, my dad shoved him into my apartment."
She had never thought that she would say these words to someone else.
Because so many times, her heartfelt words had become jokes, had become ammunition that her friends used to attack her weaknesses, so she didn’t want to speak.
Even if rumors were rampant, even if she was hurt.
She didn’t want to speak.
But when facing Ji Zhiyi, some words were naturally spoken. Su Lingyue knew that it was just her being melodramatic.
She wanted Ji Zhiyi to know.
She wanted her to feel sorry for her.
Su Lingyue thought that she was even worse now than she had been in the past.
The surroundings were quiet for two seconds. When Su Lingyue saw that Ji Zhiyi wasn’t saying anything, she turned around to leave. Ji Zhiyi suddenly grabbed her wrist. Just as Su Lingyue was about to speak, she hugged Su Lingyue.
She said softly: "I'm sorry."
Sorry.
Perhaps, she should have come to find Su Lingyue earlier.
This was the first time Ji Zhiyi had felt regret. It was like a tidal wave that swallowed her. She hugged Su Lingyue very tightly, pressing her waist tightly against her. Su Lingyue’s silk pajamas felt smooth and weak in her palm. She squeezed the edge of her pajamas, hugging Su Lingyue through the clothes.
A sense of joy exploded in Su Lingyue's heart.
The nervousness that she had expressed earlier transformed into endless satisfaction at that moment. Her eyes were slightly red: “What are you apologizing for?”
Ji Zhiyi opened her mouth.
But she just said again: "I'm sorry."
Su Lingyue muffled her voice in her arms. Ji Zhiyi put one hand on the back of her head. The temperature of Ji Zhiyi’s palm warmed her scalp. Su Lingyue felt overwhelmingly warm in her heart. She controlled the rising heat in her heart, urging Ji Zhiyi, "Go take a shower quickly."
As she said that, she turned to leave. Ji Zhiyi didn't let go of her.
Su Lingyue patted Ji Zhiyi's back. She looked up. Ji Zhiyi’s face was pale, as if she had been startled. Su Lingyue suddenly felt heartache. She rubbed Ji Zhiyi's cheek. Ji Zhiyi let her rub. Finally, Su Lingyue pushed her away: "Go take a shower. I'm going to drink my medicine."
Ji Zhiyi nodded.
Su Lingyue closed the door for her, then turned around and went back to the living room, her footsteps lighter than ever before. Her body felt completely empty, yet it also felt as if it had regained its energy. She looked back every step of the way. She sat down on the sofa, and drank a packet of the medicine.
She saw that her phone screen had lit up.
She just remembered that she had accepted Shen Yuan’s friend request, but she hadn’t greeted her yet.
She opened her screen. Shen Yuan had sent a message a few minutes ago: [Thank you.]
She shrugged, and replied: [You're welcome.]
Shen Yuan didn't reply.
Su Lingyue also didn't take it to heart. She saw that Chu Yi had sent her a message: [Did you go to the exhibition? Are there lots of pretty shoes?]
The autumn exhibition hadn’t officially started yet. She wouldn’t go to the exhibition hall until tomorrow. Moreover, it was not open to the public this time, so there was no information out there yet. No photos of the shoes that each company had sent to the exhibition had been leaked yet either.
Su Lingyue replied to her: [Not yet, tomorrow.]
Tomorrow morning, Yilin would be the first to start.
Thinking about this, she thought about Xie Lan's design.
She wondered how Ji Zhiyi had handled it.
She would ask her when she came out.
While she was thinking this, she touched the screen. Chu Yi: [Okay... What are you doing?]
Su Lingyue: [Drinking medicine.]
Chu Yi: [Drinking medicine? What kind of medicine? What’s wrong with you?]
Su Lingyue: [Cold medicine.]
After sending that, she subconsciously sent: [Ji Zhiyi made it for me.]
The other end sent an ellipsis.
Su Lingyue swallowed the cold medicine.
She saw that Chu Yi had sent: [Are you showing off?]
Su Lingyue clutched her phone.
Was she?
Why hadn't she noticed?
Su Lingyue: [You’re too sensitive.]
Chu Yi: [It's because you've fallen too deep! Aren't you two just in a sugar daddy relationship? Why are you acting like you’re in the middle of a honeymoon?]
After sending that, she added worriedly: [Control yourself.]
No, she wouldn’t!
Su Lingyue smiled at the screen.
The words "honeymoon" touched her heart.
Upon further thought, she and Ji Zhiyi were quite lovey-dovey.
When Ji Zhiyi came out of the bathroom, Su Lingyue was curled up on the sofa, covered with a thin blanket, one hand holding her phone, a smile on her face. She walked over. Su Lingyue said, "The cat tree has arrived. The housekeeper installed it and put it on the balcony."
As she spoke, she showed her a video. It was a minute and a half long. Xiao Mafan had climbed up and down it several times. She was very happy while waving her tail. Su Lingyue’s eyebrows were curved. Ji Zhiyi turned her head to look at her smile, and watched the video twice.
She dried her wet hair, and heard Su Lingyue say: “I’ll dry your hair!”
It seemed like a spontaneous idea. She got up very excitedly. Ji Zhiyi said, "Has the porridge not arrived yet?"
Su Lingyue said, "Not yet."
Even she hadn't noticed that the tone of her voice had changed, becoming clingy and sweet.
But Ji Zhiyi noticed. She nodded, and put the hairdryer into Su Lingyue's hand. Ji Zhiyi's hair was a bit long, so it was hard to dry. Su Lingyue stood for a few minutes to dry it, then dragged a chair to sit behind her. She lowered her head and carefully dried her hair from the ends. She asked Ji Zhiyi, "Has anyone ever dried your hair for you before?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "Yes."
Su Lingyue was nervous. She turned off the hairdryer and leaned close to Ji Zhiyi's ear: "Who was it?"
Her tone was fierce.
Ji Zhiyi said, "The hairstylist."
Su Lingyue: ...
She rolled her eyes at Ji Zhiyi.
Ji Zhiyi was about to laugh when her waist was pinched. She turned her body to the side, and looked at Su Lingyue.
Su Lingyue glanced at her and smiled: “Shen Yuan sent me a message, saying that Chairman He is having breakfast at Shen Ji this morning.”
After saying that, she tilted her head: "Is this exclusive information for you?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "I guess so."
Everyone was asking about Chairman He's itinerary. The lunch was settled. It was a lunch with Yilin and Su Qi, but not breakfast.
There was still no news about it.
Now that Shen Yuan had told Su Lingyue this information, she definitely wouldn't tell Zhou Shiyu.
It was a major exclusive.
Seeing that her expression hadn't changed, Su Lingyue asked: "You don't seem very happy? Aren't you going there tomorrow morning?"
Ji Zhiyi shook her head: "I'm not."
Su Lingyue asked: "Why?"
She didn't understand: "Aren't you here for Baoshun?"
Ji Zhiyi’s face was calm as she looked at her: “Who said that?”
Su Lingyue was speechless.
It was true that Ji Zhiyi hadn't said that.
She hesitated for a few seconds: "So you're not here for Baoshun?"
Ji Zhiyi shook her head.
Su Lingyue said: "Then what..."
Ji Zhiyi said, "Tomorrow morning, I made an appointment to have breakfast with Arno’s person in charge.”
Su Lingyue: ...
So Ji Zhiyi's goal was Arno?
Not Baoshun?
Then why had she done all that stuff before, being a spokesperson and competing with Su Qi, what was that for?
Ji Zhiyi said, "The spokesperson matter was for a collaboration with Arno."
As for competing for the campaign.
It was to show Su Qi, and to show her godmother.
Su Lingyue couldn't understand: "What exactly are you trying to do?"
Ji Zhiyi looked at her and said: "Bring down Su Qi."
She spoke those words with a calm tone.
Su Lingyue blinked.
The hand she was using to hold the hairdryer tightened. The topic of bringing down Su Qi had been discussed a few times, but none of them had made her heart beat faster and her blood boil as much as this one had.
Because she felt.
That it was close.
That day was close.
She hid her excitement, took a deep breath, and continued to dry Ji Zhiyi's hair. The sound of the hairdryer echoed in the quiet room. Su Lingyue dried her hair from top to bottom, combing as she went. Her hair slowly dried in her hand. As the wind lifted it up, a few strands fell into Su Lingyue's palm. She smelled it. It was a familiar scent.
After a long time.
Ji Zhiyi turned her head and said, "Is it dry?"
Su Lingyue said, "Almost."
Ji Zhiyi said, "Then I won't dry it anymore."
Su Lingyue said, "Why not dry it? It's not completely dry yet."
Ji Zhiyi said, "Aren't your hands sore?"
"No," Su Lingyue said, "It’s only been a few minutes."
After saying that, she suddenly remembered, in the information that Chu Yi had given her, some positions and movements that could prevent her hands from getting sore.
She had only glanced at them at the time.
She had thought that it was completely unnecessary.
Now, upon hearing Ji Zhiyi’s words, she was afraid that Ji Zhiyi would look down on her. She couldn’t help but turn off the hairdryer, lean in to Ji Zhiyi's ear, and say softly, "I can get pretty intense."
