Princess Syndrome - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: Feeding
Ji Zhiyi's attitude was still indifferent, her eyebrows didn't even twitch. Lowering her eyes, Jiang Ya said, "Give me an explanation."
She had changed her plans without permission, not even informing her. Now her courage had grown?
This time when Ji Zhiyi returned to China, for convenience in decision-making, she had entrusted all domestic business to Ji Zhiyi. But major decisions were still to be made by her. She had never expected Ji Zhiyi to disregard their plans and interfere when Su Qi had changes.
She had completely ruined her plans!
From the moment she found out, Jiang Ya was furious. She had waited so long, and her plans had always been steadily progressing. She hadn't expected the person in charge of Su Qi to die unexpectedly. This should have been their greatest advantage. They only needed to sit back and watch the fight, and when Dingsheng attacked, Su Qi would have been severely injured. She had waited for so many years for this great opportunity.
But Ji Zhiyi had ruined it!
She had actually taken action to dismantle Su Qi before Dingsheng even attacked and even left Su Qi some breathing room.
Originally, she was the mantis, only needing to catch the cicada. Now, she had given the food that was already at her lips to Dingsheng!
Dingsheng had become the final victor.
This was what she could not tolerate the most!
Anger burned in Jiang Ya's heart. Her face was tight, and the look in her eyes towards Ji Zhiyi was mixed with disappointment and confusion.
Ji Zhiyi said, "Godmother, Dingsheng may not want to swallow Su Qi."
"Are you saying you're worried that Dingsheng will swallow Su Qi, which would be detrimental to us?" Jiang Ya sneered, "Zhiyi, have I ever told you, don't lie in front of your godmother."
Ji Zhiyi paused.
Jiang Ya said, "Even if they want to swallow Su Qi, they will have to pay a price. But what about you? Now you have let them get half of Su Qi effortlessly, and you have also united Su Qi to deal with us!"
"Have you ever thought about the consequences?"
Ji Zhiyi said, "I have."
"You thought about it and still did it?" Jiang Ya said, "Since I have known you, you have always been an obedient child, you would not do something like this that would disregard the plan. What is the reason?"
Ji Zhiyi looked at her, and in the end, she didn't hide it and said, "I'm sorry, Godmother, it was me, I was temporarily blinded by hatred."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ya's expression relaxed slightly.
From when they met until now.
The idea that Jiang Ya had instilled in her was: You can have hatred, hatred makes people grow, but you can't have emotions, because emotions make people weak. Jiang Ya, herself, had relied on hatred for so many years to get to where she was today.
So, she could only understand hatred.
Hearing Ji Zhiyi's words, Jiang Ya said, "It's because of that little girl from the Su family?"
It seemed that she had already inquired about it.
Jiang Ya had indeed inquired about the reason beforehand. Ji Zhiyi wasn't the type of person to suddenly change her plans without a reason. So, before returning to China, she had already had people inquire about it.
Ji Zhiyi had brought Su Lingyue to the press conference, allowing Su Lingyue to be humiliated by Yang Zhizhi.
She had transferred her to her side, torturing her as much as possible.
She knew all of this.
Ji Zhiyi lowered her head, as if to admit it.
Jiang Ya said, "She's not worthy."
It wasn't clear if this sentence was referring to Ji Zhiyi or Su Lingyue.
Ji Zhiyi said, "I'm sorry, Godmother."
"What I want isn't an apology." Jiang Ya said, "You know what I want."
Ji Zhiyi said, "I will sign with Baoshun as soon as possible."
Jiang Ya said, "Su Qi was injured this time and is counting on Baoshun to turn things around. Dingsheng will definitely support Su Qi. This time you're going against two companies. Do you have the confidence?"
It was unwise to put herself out in the open.
But Ji Zhiyi still did it.
She said, "I am already making arrangements."
Jiang Ya glanced at her. "If you fail to secure Baoshun this time, you know what the consequences will be."
Ji Zhiyi's expression was calm. "I know."
Jiang Ya stood in front of her. Her phone rang, interrupting their conversation. Jiang Ya answered the phone. The tone on the other side was urgent. She frowned. "When? I understand, I'll fly back immediately."
Without Jiang Ya saying it, Ji Zhiyi knew that it must be related to her daughter.
In all the years she had known her, there were only two things that could make Jiang Ya anxious. One was related to her daughter, and the other was related to Dingsheng.
One was because of love.
The other was because of hate.
She could do anything out of love for her daughter, but she would not allow her pawns to have any feelings. Ji Zhiyi knew Jiang Ya too well, and it was because she knew this that she allowed the rumors to spread.
Jiang Ya didn't argue with Ji Zhiyi anymore. She said, "I hope that when I return next time, you can give me good news."
Ji Zhiyi said, "I understand, Godmother."
Jiang Ya said, "Your sister is living well overseas. I'll arrange for her to take care of Xiao Yu in a few days."
Ji Zhiyi's face burned slightly. Upon hearing this, she pursed her lips, "Thank you, Godmother."
Jiang Ya turned and left the office.
Ji Zhiyi collapsed on the sofa, pressing her forehead. Outside, Jiang Ya left in a hurry. The clicking sound of her high heels on the marble floor was very clear. Su Lingyue watched her leave and heard Secretary Zhang ask, "Who is that, President Ji's godmother? What's her background?"
"I don't know, she seems to be from overseas, and she seems to be very wealthy." Another secretary explained, "I heard about it from Yilin's head office. But I don't know if it's true or not."
"Then do you think that President Ji went abroad to study with her godmother's money back then?" After all, based on Ji Zhiyi's family situation at that time, it was impossible for her to go abroad.
The others shrugged, "Who knows."
After they finished speaking, Wu Meiyan came in. Everyone quickly shut up. Su Lingyue's phone rang, she paused and then answered it. Ji Zhiyi said, "Cancel all my appointments for this afternoon."
Su Lingyue said, "Okay, President Ji."
She hung up and looked toward Ji Zhiyi's office. She couldn't see anything inside. Ji Zhiyi sat on the sofa, quietly for half an hour. After putting on makeup, she walked out of the office. Su Lingyue came out of the meeting room. She looked at the office through the glass door, which was now empty.
Ji Zhiyi wasn't there.
The discussion about Ji Zhiyi's godmother didn't last long. A new round of discussion was starting. French company Arno was about to hold a new autumn product exhibition in the country. The companies they were inviting included Yilin, Dingsheng, and Su Qi, etc...
French company Arno had always wanted to promote their brand in China, but they hadn't been able to choose a suitable partner. Many companies also wanted to take this opportunity to promote their brand abroad, using Arno as a way to establish a connection in France.
It was because it was so important that Arno had been looking for a partner. Ji Zhiyi knew that Su Qi had wanted to establish a relationship with them two years ago, but they hadn't agreed. This time, Arno was holding an exhibition, which would surely be another bloodbath.
Every company was trying to put out new autumn products.
Su Lingyue had received many phone calls in the afternoon, all of them trying to reach Ji Zhiyi. She didn't know where Ji Zhiyi had gone.
Ji Zhiyi returned home, the huge living room was very empty. There was no one there. She lay on the sofa, closing her eyes. She heard the sound of cat paws scratching at the glass window. She turned her head, and saw the cat scratching at the transparent glass on the balcony. When it saw her looking over, it got even more excited, standing up on its hind legs and scratching while meowing.
Her already terrible mood was disrupted by it. Ji Zhiyi got up, feeling amused. She opened the glass door to the balcony, and it jumped in, sitting proudly in front of her, head slightly lifted.
This expression.
It inexplicably reminded her of Su Lingyue.
Back when she was in school, she would always be like that, looking unrestrained and proud.
Ji Zhiyi reached out her hand, and the cat immediately wagged its tail, walking over to her, its head close to her palm, letting her stroke her neck. Its fur was smooth. Ji Zhiyi noticed the cat food and cat litter box that the housekeeper had placed on the balcony, along with a couple of cat toys. But very clearly, the cat preferred to be with people. It sat next to Ji Zhiyi on the sofa, its head on Ji Zhiyi's leg, using its head to nudge her, its round eyes looking at Ji Zhiyi, occasionally letting out a sweet meow.
Having discarded its arrogance and dominance.
It was now a soft and fluffy little thing that could be played with.
Ji Zhiyi picked it up. Her impression of cats was still stuck on the stray cats in her village when she was a child, which would come to their house and steal food. Each time, she would use a cover to protect the food, but a few times when she wasn't careful, the cats would drag away food that had already been cooked.
So, she couldn't say that she liked them.
But she could see that Su Lingyue liked them very much.
Which was why she had brought the cat back a few times.
Ji Zhiyi rubbed the cat's head, thinking about the night before, when Su Lingyue's forehead had touched the cat's head, she had bent down and copied Su Lingyue's posture, her forehead touching the small cat's head. The small cat lifted its head and sniffed at her forehead, using its head to rub against her.
Softness immediately seeped into Ji Zhiyi's heart.
Fine and delicate.
She held the small cat in her arms.
Lying on the sofa to rest, the cat was lying on her wrist, starting to purr. It seemed small, but it was purring loudly. Ji Zhiyi tapped its forehead, and the cat closed its eyes and meowed, as if in protest.
It had quite a temper.
It was a bit like the current Su Lingyue, who would sometimes reach out and poke at her, and then retreat, putting on a calm face and pretending like nothing happened.
While she was thinking about this, she was starting to fall asleep.
When she woke up, her phone was still vibrating. The screen showed a message from Zhang Xian: [Where are you?]
She looked at her arms. The cat was gone, and was playing with a toy on the balcony. She replied to Zhang Xian: [At home.]
Zhang Xian: [I'll come over after work?]
Ji Zhiyi: [What for?]
Zhang Xian was speechless.
What else could it be for?
To check on her!
But Ji Zhiyi always had such a cold attitude, she couldn't tell if Ji Zhiyi was sad.
This person hid all her emotions so deeply that you could never tell what she was thinking.
Zhang Xian: [Nothing, just wanted to have a drink with you.]
Ji Zhiyi: [You finished work?]
Zhang Xian: [Just finished.]
Then Su Lingyue should also be done with work.
Ji Zhiyi didn't reply to Zhang Xian. Instead, she sent a message to Su Lingyue: [Finished work?]
Su Lingyue had just finished organizing her desk and was preparing to take the letter of intent to Yang Zhizhi. When she saw the message from Ji Zhiyi, she didn't hesitate: [Yes, does President Ji need something?]
Ji Zhiyi looked at her house, and then her eyes fell on the cat. She walked to the balcony, and the cat thought she was going to play with it, and excitedly rubbed against her feet. Ji Zhiyi picked up the cat's food bowl. The cat looked at her.
She poured the food into an empty box on the side.
Then, she took a picture of the empty bowl and sent it to Su Lingyue: [Your cat is hungry, come back and feed it.]
The cat watched her movements, tilting its head, its round eyes looking at Ji Zhiyi, seeming confused.
Using their child as a bait to grab the mother's attention
